The Dawes County Attorney's Office is investigating two separate weekend deaths in Chadron.
On May 8 at approximately 3:40 p.m. Chadron police were called to investigate the unattended death of 69-year-old Calvin Coomes of Chadron.
Coomes was found deceased in his yard, shortly after mowing.
"Witnesses and medical records were reviewed shortly thereafter," Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug said. "Upon conclusion of a review of medical records, physical evidence at the scene and witness interviews, it was determined that Mr. Coomes died of natural causes."
At approximately 5 p.m. the Dawes County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate the unattended death of 97-year-old Jean Drinkwalter.
Drinkwalter was found deceased in her rural home.
"After a review of the scene, consultation with witnesses and medical personnel and a review of medical history, it was determined that Ms. Drinkwalter also died of natural causes," Haug said.
