On March 24 at 5:03 p.m. the Scottsbluff Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of East 18th Street to a 33-year-old man that had accidently shot himself in the right leg.
"When officers arrived on scene, they applied a department issued tourniquet to the leg to stop the bleeding," Scottsbluff Police Captain Lance Kite said."
The man was transported to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff for treatment.
"After the investigation was completed it was determined that the male was placing a handgun in a 'inside the waistband' holster, at which time the firearm was discharged," Kite said.
The Scottsbluff Fire Department and Valley Ambulance assisted with this accident.
The name of the man involved was not released.
