Charlotte and Emerson is a recently opened business in downtown Sidney that offers many boutique opportunities throughout the Panhandle and beyond.

The main floor of the business is a boutique. The upstairs is a dress shop that provides prom, homecoming and formal dresses.

"I have three boys," Charlotte and Emerson Owner Sarah Kaiser said. "The boutique and now the dress shop are kind of my way of getting to do a little bit more of girly things. I also think that there's a need out in western Nebraska where we live for people to be able to find what they're looking for...and that they shouldn't have to go to Denver. Usually, we have to travel if we want to go shopping somewhere and make an event of it. I've heard so many stories about girls ordering like ten prom dresses online hoping that one of them fits. You know, that they like them, that they look like what they order, all of those things. We have the perfect space upstairs to do something fun like that. We said, why not, let's put a dress shop upstairs and see how it goes."

Kaiser said she hopes her business will benefit Sidney and western Nebraska.

"We have girls coming from Imperial, Cheyenne WY, Chadron, Alliance, Sterling CO...we've got girls coming in from everywhere that I really feel like this is a benefit for them," Kaiser said. "They can come with their friends, they can come with their family; sit down, have a good time and find their perfect dress."

Charlotte and Emerson also offers cosmetic bags. You can view them at https://charlotteandemerson.com/

"That is how the brand got started," Kaiser said. "My sister [Amy] and I started that...it'll be 12 years in October, believe it or not. Our Grandma is still living. She sells Mary Kay. We grew up in her makeup room getting to mess around with makeup. We kind of talked about something we wanted to start, we started designing cosmetic bags to hold all of the makeup from our Grandma. We try to put one out every season. Our Fall collection is coming out soon. We also sell those wholesale to boutiques across the United States."

The business is located at 934 Illinois St. in Sidney.

"We just hope that when people come to shop with us they have a good time," Kaiser said. "And that's really what it's about. We try to make sure that we are affordable to most and that we have a little bit of something for anyone. We love getting to connect with people that come through our doors."
