Alliance Public Schools has a Backpack Program that has been around for 14 years, that delivers food to students in need. Cheryl Harris is the Backpack Program Coordinator and explains how the process starts.

"If the counselors see a need, they send a letter to the parent that needs to be signed," Harris explains.&nbsp;

One key step is making sure that the they are aware of any food allergies the child may have before having the child starts receiving food.

Harris says that there are different teams who volunteer with the program, that includes jobs like packing the food, or carrying food in totes.&nbsp;
