Tuesday was giving Tuesday at Box Butte General Hospital as the hospital was raising funds for Janes Closet in Box Butte County, an organization that supports cancer patients in the Panhandle.
The Fundraiser goes through Thursday, and you can mail your cash or check to the hospital or donate online at bbgh.org and clicking on their banner on their home page.
Laurie Benzel is Jane's Closet representative and she talked to Jason Wentworth on Monday about her sister Jane, who inspired Jane's Closet.
"Jane was my older sister, she had a life as a mom and a wife, and children in high school and sports, and then all of a sudden was dealt the card of cancer. " Benzel said.
"That's where the journey for her started, and in 2006 when she was first diagnosed, she didn't feel there were many resources available to help her manage chemotherapy and the journey she was on. That's kind of where Jane's Closet all started.
Jane’s Closet is an organization for men, women, or children living in Box Butte County battling cancer of any kind. It provides monetary support, comfort bags, and more to assist individuals through their challenging time.
