Howard J. Vogel (1937 - 2024)

Howard J. Vogel, 86, of Gering, Nebraska passed away on Friday January 26, 2024, at Swedish Hospital of Colorado with his family by his side to be with his Lord and Savior. His memorial services will be held on Friday February 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Bible Church in Scottsbluff, NE. Pastor Jason Schmidt will be officiating. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park with immediate family only to follow. At his request, cremation has taken place. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers and memorials be made in care of his family.

Howard was born on June 2, 1937, in Bridgeport, NE to Jake and Millie (Deines) Vogel. He attended Minatare Public Schools.

He married Shirley (Feil) Vogel on November 23, 1957, in Gering, Nebraska. Howard farmed for his whole life loving every minute of it. He also worked at Lockwood’s and Western Sugar. He loved anything that dealt with gardening, antique tractors, tinkering outside, going to auctions all over the Panhandle, and most importantly, spending time with his precious family. He enjoyed being the jokester of the family and playing many jokes on his grandkids.

Howard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley (Feil) Vogel. His daughter Tammy (Ed) Heckman of Gretna, NE. Sons include, Rod Vogel of Bayard, NE, Travis Vogel of Gering, NE, Harlen (Sheri) Vogel of Bridgeport, NE and Trent (Tera) Vogel of Alliance, NE. Grandchildren include, Tiffanie (Joel) Green of Lincoln, NE, Rocky (Brittni) Heckman of Gretna, NE, Seth Vogel of Bayard, NE, Mitch (Brittany) Vogel of Hemingford, NE, Trae (Bailey) Vogel of Alliance, NE, Rayce Vogel of Alliance, NE, Alexis (Trent) Rutter of Scottsbluff, NE, Paige Vogel of Gering, NE, Andrea Brady of Bridgeport, NE, Jeremy Bolzer of Bridgeport, NE, Morgan Bolzer of Scottsbluff, NE, Dylan Busskohl of Bridgeport, NE, Tierra Vogel of Alliance, NE, and Taylor Vogel of Alliance, NE. Also survived by 17 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. He also leaves behind sisters, Jurene Turpin of Twin falls, ID, Ruth Schledewitz of Gering, NE, Janice Henkel of Walnut Creek, CA, Sandra Jines of TX, Betty Duncan of Bayard, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
