LINCOLN, Neb. — Four confirmed measles cases in Platte County have been reported to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, all of which are limited to a single household, with two cases currently active. Thus far, no community spread has been identified. Due to privacy, no further information will be provided.
Immunization is the most effective way to protect against the measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases. Children should receive the first dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine between 12 and 15 months of age, followed by a second dose between four and six years of age. DHHS recommends Platte County parents of infants aged 6 to 11 months consult their healthcare provider to discuss the option of early MMR vaccination.
The East Central District Health Department will be hosting vaccine clinics this week.

“I encourage all Nebraskans to contact their healthcare provider to check their vaccination status against measles,” said Dr. Sydney Stein, DHHS State Epidemiologist. “If you have not had two doses of MMR vaccine, talk to your healthcare provider or local health department right away.”
