LINCOLN, NE – Today, State Fire Marshal Doug Hohbein announced the hiring of Troy Shoemaker to fill the position of Assistant State Fire Marsal. This position is located in the Lincoln Main Office of the State Fire Marshal Agency.

Mr. Shoemaker has deep connections in the fire service, including serving as a firefighter in the Navy. After his military service, Troy returned to Nebraska and held various positions with the Scottsbluff Fire Department before returning to his boyhood community, becoming the Fire Chief in Alliance in 2008.&nbsp; He has many certifications, deep fire service ties and a dedication to life safety that will help the State Fire Marshal Agency achieve its mission of fire prevention and help ensure life safety.

Mr. Shoemaker will start serving in his new role on October 1, 2026.
