Fall River Health Services awards 5 in-house scholarships

Hot Springs, SD — Fall River Health Services continues to invest in their employees and encourages growth and leadership in their patient care. For the academic year, 2022-2023, FRHS Board of Directors, has awarded five Build Dakota Scholarships to their current staff who are anxious to expand their career opportunities in healthcare at FRHS.

The five recipients in 2022 who received scholarships through the State of S.D., “Build Dakota Scholarship” program in either the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) programs are:

• Tonya Bloom, LPN

• Johanna Corriea, C.N.A

• Seth Simunek, C.N.A

• Amber Dennett, C.N.A

• Josh Williamson, C.N.A (Not pictured in photo.)

As part of the South Dakota’s technical schools Dakota Build Scholarship, FRHS understands that the healthcare industry is one of the most reliable professional fields in the nation. The programs that Build Dakota Scholarship program supports, lead careers that offer fulfilling responsibilities and exciting opportunities

Tonya Bloom, current LPN at FRHS, commented, “This award is very beneficial in helping me achieve my goal and dream of becoming an RN. I have been employed at FRHS for eighteen and a half years, starting out as a CNA and moved up to an LPN. I no longer want to be limited in my field of nursing. I want to give back to the facility and community.” Bloom will soon begin the RN degree program at Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City.

The Build Dakota Scholarship program awards a two-year scholarship to pay for the two-year technical degree in nursing as the recipient becomes an LPN or RN to continue their work at the FRHS facility in South Dakota. This program is to assist the State of SD in training hard to fill positions and keeping  those who have been trained, for a minimum of three years in South Dakota after graduation. Upon graduation, the dedicated recipients will work a minimum of three years full-time at FRHS.

The healthcare industry revolves around caring for others. FRHS is passionate about helping their staff grow and the patient care they provide for their community by providing these scholarships on an annual basis.
