The Nebraska Department of Transportation announced projects to done in the Nebraska Panhandle through 2028 and 2029 recently. The Star Herald reported on Wednesday that there was a 40.9 million dollar project for District 5 that includes 11 counties in the panhandle. 

That project will be working to resurface 9.1 miles of Nebraska Highway 71, north of Scottsbluff in Sioux County. Another project with be south of Watson Ranch and will run toward Box Butte County.
