Alliance, NE – Interested in preserving food at home but not sure where to start—or just need a refresher on safe practices? Join us in the community room at the Alliance Public Library on September 24 at 5:30 p.m. for an introduction to the basics of home food preservation. We’ll explore several preservation methods, including boiling water canning, pressure canning, freezing, and drying, along with the equipment and safety practices necessary to properly preserve food. Whether you’re preserving produce from your garden, farmers market finds, or foods from the grocery store, this class will help you feel more confident about safely preserving food at home. Ashley Fenning, Morrill County Extension Educator, will be the program presenter. There is no cost or registration required to attend. The program is for ages 18 and up.
