Gina Jespersen Named New New Elementary School Principal in Hemingford

HEMINGFORD, Neb. – Hemingford Public Schools is pleased to announce that Gina Jespersen has been named Elementary School Principal beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year. Jespersen steps into this role with a wealth of educational and leadership experience.

She holds a Master of Science in Elementary Administration from Wayne State College, a Master of Arts in PK-12 Reading from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a Bachelor of Science in Education (Elementary Education) from Black Hills State University.

Jespersen holds educator certifications in Elementary Education K-8 and Principal PK-8. She is a graduate of the Leadership Nebraska Class XV (2024). Jespersen has additional leadership experience as Co-Chair of the Miss Rodeo America Pageant Coronation. Jespersen was named Miss Rodeo Nebraska in 2014. In that role, she traveled the country as an ambassador promoting the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the State of Nebraska and western industries. She was a four-year letter winner and Western Team Captain as a Division I athlete on the Equestrian team at South Dakota State University.

Jespersen shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming school year.

"After eleven years of living my dream as an educator, I am honored to step into this leadership role. My goal is to embrace our unique traditions while preparing our students for the future. I am eager to support our staff, students, parents and community. Having experienced it firsthand, I know the foundation built here in Hemingford offers limitless potential," said Jespersen.

Superintendent Dr. Travis Miller expressed confidence in Jespersen’s leadership and background.

“I look forward to her leadership in our school district. She brings a strong range of experience in education and leadership to the principalship, along with a deep knowledge of high-quality reading instruction, continuous school improvement and systems of support for student learning and behavior," said Miller.

"Jespersen is enthusiastic about supporting our staff and demonstrates a genuine pride and commitment to the Hemingford school community. As a lifelong learner, she is dedicated to bringing out the best in those around her. Her experience as a teacher in our district provides a strong foundation of relationships and understanding that will allow her to build on our existing successes as she works collaboratively with our school team to advance student achievement and educational excellence.”

As Elementary School Principal, Jespersen will work closely with students, faculty, staff and parents to further strengthen the academic and extracurricular offerings at Hemingford Elementary School. Her commitment to staff and student success will serve as a strong foundation to support the continued growth and achievements of students at Hemingford Elementary School.
