The Alliance Volunteer Fire Department and Hemingford Volunteer Fire Department battled a fire at the BNSF train depot on April 11.

At approximately 12:20 p.m. the fire was reported at the BNSF terminal building. Sunday's fire appeared to be on the roof.
"All our employees have been safely evacuated," BNSF Spokesperson Amy Casas said. "The local fire departments are on the scene working to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
The Alliance Police Department have blocked off the crossing to the depot.
"Anyone that works for operations [BNSF] or works at the depot tower can report to 1st and Box Butte Avenue at the building there," Alliance Police Sgt. Tim Peterson said.
The AVFD and HVFD had the fire under control by the late afternoon.
"The fire was extinguished around 4 p.m." Casas said. "BNSF personnel were allowed into the building for initial inspections."
Panhandle Post will have more information once it becomes available.
