Mickey Aruffo, 78, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Box Butte General Hospital.
She was born to Erny and Dorothy Coleman on December 28, 1942 at Alliance.
Mickey graduated from Alliance High School and then went to serve our country in the U.S. Army which later in life earned her the Quilt of Valor.
Mickey along with husband were co-founders and operated “Just Neighbors”, local charitable assistance program for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and actively participated in the UMWC for decades. She was also a Music Camp Director for Camp Norwesca for many years, sang in the Chancel Choir and was also in the Bell Choir. She worked many years in the gift shop at Box Butte General Hospital and served many years as a leader in the Girls Scouts and Boys Scouts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Aruffo of 55 years. She is survived by her 4 children; Lena and Greg Frayer of Colorado, Wendy Forcier and Billy Smith of Washington, Larry Aruffo of TN, and Tony and Susie Aruffo of Georgia. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Friday, October 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. The Reverend Gideon Achi will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.
