Today 12th Street between Niobrara Avenue and Sweetwater Avenue will be closed so crews can paint the crosswalks. The roadway is expected to re-open by Friday afternoon.

This is an Activate Alliance project.

The first crosswalk was finished on July 21 at 14th and Sweetwater Avenue. It was created by Carnegie Arts Center, Keep Alliance Beautiful and Panhandle Public Health District.

"It was a hot one, but we got it done," Carnegie Arts Center Director Kyren Gibson said. "We'll be working on 12th Street on the bike path crosswalk...and 10th on Friday at the crosswalk between the park and fountain. There will be barricades up to keep us safe while painting, but they will stay up overnight since it takes about 24-hours for the paint layers to fully dry. Please remind friends and family to stay off the murals until the barricades are down. Not only would we appreciate your respect for hours and hours of work, but the paints are oil based and when wet will ruin clothes, shoes, tires and pet paws."
