On March 8 at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Chadron Police Department was dispatched to investigate the unattended shooting death of 22-year-old Brayton Branic at a local Chadron apartment complex. The Dawes County Sheriff’s Office and Dawes County Attorney/Coroner responded as well.
After an investigation of the scene, the evidence at the scene and witness interviews; preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Branic died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy and toxicological screening have been ordered and the investigation continues at this time.
