Gering, Neb. - The (1-1) Alliance Bulldogs will hit the road for the second straight week as they will travel 53 minutes to Gering to take on the (2-0) Gering Bulldogs. Pregame coverage is set to begin at 6:30pm with kickoff set for 7:00pm. Listen to the contest on KCOW radio.
The Bulldogs are coming off 43-15 loss to a tough Holdrege Dusters team. Alliance rushed for 157 yards and tacked on 120 yards through the air. Leading the rushing attack was sophomore Trini Trejo with 100 yards and junior quarterback Jett Herian threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns. The top receiver was junior Espn Lanik with 6 receptions for 68 yards while freshman Caysen Robertson caught two passes for 40 yards and one touchdown and junior Carson Swenson caught a 12-yard pass in the endzone.
Defensively, junior Cole Stoike had a team high 15 tackles, Robertson finished with 14 and one tackle for loss. Eladio Campos had 6 tackles. Lanik would also record an interception while playing defense in Friday's contest against the Dusters.
Gering is 2-0 for the first time since 2012 and defeated Mitchell 40-26. Four different ball carriers would rush for a combined 300 yards and five touchdowns. Leading the rush attack was Junior Rece Knight who finished with 145 yards and three touchdowns. Knight would also throw for 125 yards. Junior Bo Gable finished with 92 yards on the ground.
Through the air, Knight's top target was senior Barron Williams who recorded five catches for 82 yards. Gable would finish the game with 26 receiving yards.
Gable led the defense with 15 tackles in the contest. Junior Tyler Fry and senior Creighton Beals recorded 13 tackles and Williams finished with 12.
These two Bulldog teams last met in 2020 where Gering was victorious 30-7. Since 2004, these teams have met 18 times where Alliance holds an 11-7 record.
