Merlyn K. “Mert” Miller, age 83, of Dalton, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, in Bridgeport, NE. A Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lodgepole, NE with Pastor Bud Leon Gillespie officiating. Mert was born on January 30, 1940 to his late parents Herman Alvin and Arlene Marie (Schmale) Miller. He was a graduate of Sidney High School and served in the National Guard for 12 years achieving the rank of Sargent 1st Class. He loved all aspects of the agricultural life and worked with his dad at Miller Implement for several years and Case Power Equipment as a mechanic and salesman. He later joined his father working on the farm east of Gurley, NE where he lived the remainder of his life with his wife and children, sharing his love of farming with his son Scott. Mert married the love of his life, Mary Jane Oliverius on July 16, 1970 in Sidney, NE. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to all and shared his infectious smile and wit with any and all he encountered. There was not a person on this earth he wouldn’t talk to or offer a helping hand. He enjoyed many hobbies, never afraid to try something new, from cars, scuba diving in the Bahamas and being a scuba instructor, flying a single engine plane, building and flying model airplanes, coaching little league baseball, teaching his kids and grandkids the value of hunting and fishing, boating and target shooting. He was also an avid photographer. If he wasn’t out on his boat, or cleaning his guns, he was shopping for the next best gadget, fishing lure, gun, tool or kitchen cookware.

Mert enjoyed spending time telling the worst dad jokes and reminiscing on the many stories of his past adventures. 

Mert is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Michelle Wallace and husband Michael, grandchildren Blake and Bryce Wallace, son Scott Miller, grandchild Bailey Miller, Whitney Whartman and husband Callen, great-grandchildren Payslee and Ryker Whartman, daughter Carrie Stewart and husband Stacey, grandchild Emily Stewart, daughter Jackie Miller and grandchildren Reagan and Coy Walkinshaw, brothers Kent Miller, Phil Miller and wife Evie and children and sister Rita Fischer and husband Robert and children. Luis “Rico” Oliveros, 71, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away October 4, 2023. He was born January 1, 1952, to Luis and Anita Oliveros.

He is survived by wife, Lori; children, Melissa (Ryan) Morrow, Jacqueline (Andrew) Lloyd, and Louis (Kaitlyn) Oliveros; grandchildren, Tyson, Kennedy, Winslet, and Nirvana; mom, Anita Oliveros; siblings, Cecelia “CeCe” (Doug) Miller; Edward “Eddie” Oliveros; Alex Oliveros; John “Henry” (Deb) Oliveros; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceded in death by his brother and father, Luis; beloved animals, Peaches, Mickey, and DanMarino.

Rico embraced life with zeal and a zest for adventure. His multifaceted interests and unwavering commitment to his loved ones defined him in many ways.

A dedicated cyclist, Rico could often be found pedaling down the streets, combining his love for cycling with the thrill of the open road. Rico was a die-hard fan of the Huskers, Raiders, and Celtics. He never missed a game, even when a heartbreaking loss was inevitable.

Rico was a devout member of the Catholic Church and found solace and strength in his faith.

He was a dedicated father and took an active part in his children’s lives. He coached their basketball teams with a heart full of pride and made everlasting memories. Rico’s love for the game extended beyond his family as he generously shared his coaching expertise with the girls’ basketball team at St. Agnes High School in Alliance, NE.

For 32 years, Rico dedicated himself to a career at BNSF Railroad, showing unwavering commitment throughout his service.

His love for classic automobiles, especially his 1929 Ford Model A hot rod, was evident in every detail. Rico had an adventurous spirit and never wanted to miss out on any opportunity to create lasting memories.

Known for his ornery sense of humor and quick wit, Rico could light up a room with his presence. His favorite saunas infused with eucalyptus provided moments of relaxation and reflection.

Rico will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived to the fullest.

Luis “Rico” Oliveros (1952 - 2023)

Joan Irene (Lang) Sears, 79, of Hyannis, Nebraska, passed away October 3, 2023, near Alliance as the result of a vehicle accident that also claimed the lives of her husband, Dr. Gary Sears, 82, and daughter Julie Rebecca (Darrell Lasky) Sears, 57.

Joan was born December 21, 1943, in New Jersey to Fred and Irene Lang. The family moved to Englewood, Colorado in 1951. Joan attended Colorado State University (CSU), where she met and married Gary shortly after graduating with honors with a degree in microbiology and medical technology.

While attending CSU, Joan was active in Kappa Gamma Sorority (past president), the Mortar Board, the Angel Flight (women’s) ROTC organization, among other campus groups. The grant-funded research during her senior year at CSU earned her recognition for break-through evidence and understanding of crown gall disease in plants as being virus-caused. Her experiments in exposing tomato plants to bacteria and virus cultures revealed the viral impacts.

Her intended research career after graduation was redirected when she married Gary, also recently graduated from veterinary school. They spent early years in Montana where Gary worked at various large animal clinics before they moved to the Nebraska Sandhills where he set up practice. Joan applied her many talents to whatever needed done while raising their two children, which included working in the business as bookkeeper, receptionist, occasional surgical assistant and – using her medical tech training – dosage consults when clients needed guidance and Gary was out on calls.

Joan was an active member of the All-Saints Altar Society in Hyannis, and volunteered countless hours in local organizations such as 4-H. She traveled hundreds of miles serving as a judge at dog shows throughout the region and was well known for the prodigious garden where she grew, canned and froze vegetables each year, including fermented successes with select varieties of grapes. She tried her hand at raising various animals, including rabbits and at least one pig.

She devoted pleasure time to knitting, playing bridge with her club, and dancing with her college sweetheart whenever they had the chance. Joan’s love of animals fueled an endless interest in all aspects of growing and caring for all living things.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Irene Lang. Joan is survived by son Greg (Jamie) of Rocklin, California and their children Reilly, Riordan, Reece and Raegan; son-in-law Darrel Lasky of Santa Rosa, California, granddaughters Jennifer and Jessica Luong Duong of Portland, Oregon, cousins Ken and Alan Schuster of New Jersey, and cousin Ed Sawicki of Santa Clara, California.&nbsp;&nbsp; Bates-Gould Funeral Home, Alliance, is handling final arrangements.

A memorial service for the family is set for October 28, 2023 at 11 AM at the Hyannis High School.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the All-Saints Altar Society, the Winters Building fund, or the Grant County Fair Board.

Gary L. Sears, DVM, 82, passed away near Alliance, Nebraska on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Joan, his wife of more than 58 years and daughter Julie (Darrell Lasky) Sears, 57, perished at the same time as Gary in a car accident.&nbsp;

Gary was born in Bridgeport on March 7, 1941, a few minutes after his twin sister Gail Walsh and grew up near Lisco where his father was manager of the South Unit of the Rush Creek Land &amp; Livestock ranch.&nbsp; He attended high school in Oshkosh, and then attended the CSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Ft. Collins, Colorado.&nbsp; In 1965, he graduated from veterinary school, married his college sweetheart, Joan, and they headed off to Montana for his first veterinary job.&nbsp; In 1967, Gary &amp; Joan moved to Hyannis and established Hyannis Veterinary Service which continues to thrive to this day.&nbsp; In addition to more than 40 years of service to area ranchers and their animals, Gary was active in service to the community, including stints on the Grant County Fair board, School Board and about anything else that needed done.&nbsp; Gary retired (mostly) in 2009 after selling the practice to Dr. Bill Baker and Dr. Jon Werth.&nbsp; Gary and Joan continued to live in Hyannis since that time.

Gary was known as an excellent veterinarian (mainly cattle &amp; cattle ranching) and one who was well equipped with a wry sense of humor, love of practical jokes, and a strong work ethic.&nbsp; He was widely loved and respected throughout the area.&nbsp; He learned to fly in his early years in Hyannis to help meet time demands, frequently hopping from ranch to ranch in his Piper Cub and/or Tri-Pacer.&nbsp; Tales of his practical jokes, his go-the-extra-mile in service of his friends and clients, the many not-so-routine encounters with a cow and/or cowhand, a few fishing stories, and of course an occasional airplane story are legendary.&nbsp;

Gary L. Sears, DVM (1941 - 2023)

Sidney Dean Underwood age 64, passed away on October 5th, 2023, at Regional West Medical Center. He was born in Alliance, NE to Burr Eugene and Jessie Lea (Hopkins) Underwood on July 19, 1959.&nbsp; Sid graduated from Alliance High School in 1979 and went on to pursue a degree in Diesel Mechanics from Laramie Wyoming Technical Institute.&nbsp; He was employed at Farmers Coop in Hemingford, NE and retired from Parker Hannifin, working as a maintenance technician for 22 years.

Sid was a member of the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department and the Hemingford Volunteer Fire Department, where he received recognition of distinction for his years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed “tinkering” with anything that had an engine, shooting his collection of firearms and was a proud member of National Rifle Association (NRA). Gardening was also a hobby that he liked doing.&nbsp;&nbsp; In his retirement, he enjoyed walking and always offered a smile and wave. “Uncle Sid” will be dearly missed for being one of the biggest kids at family gatherings: helping hide Easter eggs, being ready to open the first Christmas present and joking with all.&nbsp; Sid had the gift of being resilient in “making each day count” and pushing through many challenges that life brought his way.

Sid is survived by his three brothers, Greg Underwood from Alliance, NE, Rod (Kim) Underwood from Alliance, NE and Brad (Tobie) Underwood from Crawford, NE, stepson Matt (LaRee) Faber and their daughter Kamdyn from Fort Collins, CO, nieces and nephews, Stephaine (Brad) Morse, Jason Underwood, Kris Lehl, Derik (Shannon) Underwood, Jessee (Michael) Johnston, Taryn Underwood and Tylea Underwood, great nieces and nephews, Lauren Lehl, Burr and Bristol Underwood and Tripp Johnston.

Sid is preceded in death by his parents Burr Eugene and Jessie Lea (Hopkins) Underwood, two siblings, Cheryl and infant brother, several cousins and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In his free time, he enjoyed “tinkering” with anything that had an engine, shooting his collection of firearms and was a proud member of National Rifle Association (NRA). Sidney Dean Underwood (1959 - 2023)

Randall Lee Raymer was born April 16, 1968 to Gerald Lee and Pattie Lee Raymer in Chadron NE. He passed away at home in Alliance on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Randy grew up in Oshkosh NE, attending grade school and high school there. His family was deeply involved in The Wesleyan Church, where, at the age of 7 or 8, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. At that young age, he decided to be baptized in the cold, fast running waters of Blue Creek, where the rest of his family were baptized. He was involved in Christian Youth Crusaders and the teen group of the church.

Throughout high school he was faithful to help when needed at the family business for no pay. He learned a lot about autobody and mechanical work. When he dented his father’s pickup, he was required to fix it. He worked summers at Ash Hollow State Park.

He especially enjoyed playing football at Garden County High School and was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship to Bethany College in Lindsborg KS. He later attended school at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He intended to become a Medical Technologist.

He later moved to Fort Collins CO where he became an auto glass installer. He became involved in the International Practical Shooting Confederation and spent much time helping to develop the local shooting range in Weld County where he served on the board and was elected president for a time. He achieved the level of Master Shooter and traveled to many competitions. He was a Certified Range Officer and organized and officiated many meets. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

On August 15, 2008, he married his one and only true love, Berit, and along with her two children, built a home for them in Johnstown CO where they lived for seven years.

In 2015 Randy moved to Alliance NE. He worked tirelessly around his parents’ home, keeping the lawn and garden in good shape, fixing sprinklers, chopping out trees, building fence, doing mechanical work and always cleaning out the shop. He was an astute penny pincher and would spend hours fixing a broken piece instead of buying new. He often travelled to Oshkosh to help his Uncle Terry and cousin Chad in their endless projects.

His pride and joy was his rock crawling Jeep that he kept in pristine condition and “the beast”, an old Suburban that he fixed up. He spent many hours refurbishing the camper which he used often for hunting and fishing.

Randy had a fierce love for his father and took him fishing and hunting for his dad’s first and only turkey trophy. Randy dutifully fixed him for the next Thanksgiving dinner.

He spent the last few months working at Emerson Elementary School in Alliance as custodian along with his sister Christina. He was happy in his work and felt welcome and appreciated using his many talents in repair and construction. He was in a very good place.

Our lives will never be the same without Randy. Frank Bosanco, 63 of Melbeta, Nebraska passed away September 27, 2023 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Frank was born on March 7, 1960 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Robert Bosanco and Dorothy Haerer. He married Tonia McDermed on August 4, 1998 in Fort Myers Beach, Florida and made their home in Melbeta, Nebraska.

Frank was in the National Guard from 1977-1979.

Survivors include his wife Tonia Bosanco; sister Judy Bosanco; brother Joe Bosanco; nephew Jeffrey Millage; nieces Briget Millage Hatheway, Valerie Myers, Hope Jacobs and Care Selvius and mother-in-law Michelle Ponder.

LeRoy Kevin Steele, 78, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away at his home on Monday, September 18, 2023. Cremation has taken place in accordance with LeRoy’s wishes. LeRoy was born November 10, 1944, in New Salem, North Dakota to Vernon and Opal (Middlesteader) Steele. He enlisted with the United States Navy following high school and served for three years.

LeRoy met the love of his life, Lilly Steele, and the two married on July 11, 1988, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He worked and retired as a laborer in the laborer’s union. He loved traveling and enjoying the sights. LeRoy was an avid NASCAR fanatic and liked going to the races. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing many sports in his younger years.

LeRoy was a man who was very much appreciative of all those who assisted him and his wife in their final years. Although he did not often express his feelings, they were there. To those who understand this, be proud that you eased them both.

Survivors include his children, grandchildren, friends, and loved ones.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Opal; sister, Gloria Steele; and wife, Lilly Steele.

Funeral services for Gary Galey, 84, a long-time resident of Crawford, Nebraska will held at 10:30am, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Christ Community Church in Crawford, with Pastor Steve Mallory officiating. Music will be provided by Tim Bosak. Burial will be at the Crawford Cemetery.

He died September 27, 2023 at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, where he had been a resident for a short time.

Garold “Gary” Gene Galey was born October 6, 1938 to James Thomas and Eva (Cunningham) Galey in Chadron, Nebraska. The family farmed east of Chadron for several years; he and his older brothers Tom, Jr., Bob, and Bud, attended school in Chadron until the family relocated to Whitney in 1954. He then attended Crawford High School, following which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving most of his four-year tour (1956-1960) aboard the heavy cruiser USS Macon with the Atlantic Fleet and Mediterranean.

Following his release from active duty, he married Zoleta Hamaker on July 29th, 1960 in Scottsbluff. They made their home in Crawford, where they raised two boys: Garold “Gene” and Jay Allen. Gary worked for the Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company for 36 years. During those years, he and Zoleta also owned and operated “Galey’s Little Grocery Store” for 10 years. After retiring from Kansas-Nebraska, Gary established “Galey Repair,” installing and repairing heating, air conditioning, and other appliances for residents in and around the Crawford region. He finally retired at age 83.

Throughout his career, Gary was active in community affairs. He served on the Crawford Hospital Board, School Board, and was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was also very active in the Crawford Jaycees. He and Zoleta enjoyed winter visits to Arizona, where Gary was able to pursue his love of golf. Gary spent a lot of time with his sons Gene and Jay with school activities, hunting, fishing, sports, and riding motorcycles. He and Zoleta also enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, taking them on vacation excursions during their summers.

Gary is survived by his son, Jay (Meloni) of Riverton, WY; brother Bob (Naomi), Whitney, NE; sisters Margaret Galey, Rapid City, SD; and Karen (Larry) Miller Spearfish, SD; sister-in-law Kay Galey, Chadron, NE. Four grandchildren: Dezarae Brandt (Jason) of Gering, NE; Chance (Jenna) of Bloomfield, CO; Jaycy of Omaha, NE; and Thomas James “TJ” (Adair) of Riverton, WY. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Zoleta, and son, Gary Gene; his parents, two brothers, Tom and Bud, and one sister-in-law, Dorothy (Tom) Galey.

Gerald Max Denton, 87, passed away at his home on the Denton homestead and was welcomed into the Heavenly Fathers arms on September 29, 2023. Gerald was born on June 21st 1936 to Glenn E. Denton and Georgia (Hunter) in the house built by John W. &amp; Rachel Denton that Ron and Kim Denton currently reside in. Gerald attended Craven Creek School and graduated from Rushville High School in 1954. He worked for several different neighbors in the Whiteclay community after high school before marrying the love of his life, Alice (Sager) on August 3, 1958. They welcomed their first child, Ronald Gerald in 1959, Connie Lee in 1960 and Angel Lisa Tail joined the family in 1971. Gerald and Alice bought the original Fred Denton homestead in fall of 1963 and continued to work the family ranch until the day of his passing. There have been 7 generations of Denton’s continuing on the ranch life. Gerald had a strong faith in the Lord and was a lifetime member of the Extension Church in Whiteclay, Nebraska. He served on the church board and as the treasurer for most of his adult life. Gerald never missed an opportunity to share the Lord with the people he encountered. He was encouraging and inspirational to all who knew him. Gerald loved and doted on all his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to attend the the events. Being a big kid himself, he was always up for a game of baseball, cards, horsie rides, sleepovers, and would play the piano on their request. He never turned down extra dessert. He was on the school board Craven Creek District 79 and Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller, SD and was an active member of the National Wild Turkey Federation for Sheridan County.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 65 years Alice Sager Denton, Son Ronald (Kim) of Rushville, NE, daughter Angel Denton Bauman of Pine Ridge, SD, son-in-law Mark Tyler of Chadron, Nebraska and son-in-law Bill Conner. Gerald Max Denton (1936 - 2023)

Harold Becker, 95, of Alliance, NE, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff.

Harold was born on January 13, 1928, to Dave and Eva Becker. &nbsp;He attended schools in the Scottsbluff area, and then joined the Navy. &nbsp;After discharge, he married Esther Reichert, and they had three children: &nbsp;Larry, Linda and Barbara. &nbsp;

Harold and his family farmed south of Hemingford, before retiring to nearby Alliance. &nbsp;He enjoyed rodeos and old westerns on TV. &nbsp;The Alliance Senior Center provided hours of companionship as well as daily nourishment.

Harold is survived by his son, Larry, of Alliance, and daughter, Linda, of Greeley, CO. &nbsp;Linda and Arlin Sample parented his two grandchildren: Ivy (Brian) Shelmadine and Cory (Kara) Sample. &nbsp;The five great grandchildren are Jackson, Alexis, Arya and Mia Shelmadine of Alliance, and Kadence Sample of Greeley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Esther, and daughter Barbara.

Lyle David “Dave” Brunkhorst, age 58, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away at home on October 1, 2023.&nbsp; Cremation was chosen and there will be no public services at this time.&nbsp; 

Dave was born January 19, 1965, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, the son of Lyle and Verna Dell (Aunspaugh) Brunkhorst. 

He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High with the Class of 1983.&nbsp; He married the love of his life, Melody Lee on January 20, 1995. 

A lifelong truck driver, Dave spent many years traveling the country and took scenic routes any chance he got. In his off time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycles and taking trips to the Black Hills with his friends. 

Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Melody Brunkhorst; parents, Lyle and Verna Brunkhorst; and brothers Mark and Mike Brunkhorst. 

Dave is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Jereme); grandkids Elliott and Isla Smith; three nephews, Wayne (Amanda) Brunkhorst, Cassie Brunkhorst, and Nick (Brittanie) Brunkhorst; niece, Desiree (Ben) Sidders; sister-in-law, Paula Brunkhorst, and great friends Jim (Deb) Sanders.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Timothy Nile Riggs, known as Tim to his loved ones, peacefully passed away on September 30, 2023, at the age of 63 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Born on February 9, 1960 in Hemingford, Nebraska, Tim lived a life of honor, dedication, and selflessness.

Tim proudly served his country as an Aerospace Propulsion Technician in the United States Air Force during the Persian Gulf War. His unwavering commitment to duty and exceptional skills contributed to the success of military operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of his fellow servicemen. During his time in the Air Force, Tim was given many awards, including an Overseas Long Tour Service Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and a National Defense Service Medal. Tim's service to his country will forever be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Beyond his military service, Tim was a man of great compassion and generosity. He possessed a kind heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Tim's acts of kindness and selflessness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tim is survived by his beloved sisters, Karen, Janet, Barbie, and Julie, as well as his cherished children, Lindsay and Brian, and Brian's wife, April. He was a loving grandfather to Rachelle, Jaxon, and Vivienne. Tim will be missed by the mother of his children, Pamela, and his girlfriend Brenda. Tim was preceded in death by his dear parents, Chall and Jeannie, who undoubtedly welcomed him into eternal peace with open arms.

In remembering the life and legacy of Timothy Nile Riggs, we honor his remarkable military service, his unwavering compassion and his devotion to family. His memory will forever be treasured by those whose lives he touched and his spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and selflessness for generations to come.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.&nbsp; A reception will be held following at the Hemingford American Legion Post No. 9.

Timothy Nile Riggs (1960 - 2023)

Daniel L. Taylor, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 27, 2023, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was born on January 21, 1957, in Alliance, Nebraska. Daniel's family and friends are grieving the loss of Dan, whose presence brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

Dan and his family started his life following around his dad who worked as a lineman moving from state to state. He saw a lot of country during that time. But his favorite place that he loved was the Circle 6 Ranch where he spent countless summers with his grandma and grandpa McCoy and his cousins.

In the early 70’s Daniel’s family moved to Starbuck, Washington. Daniel enjoyed salmon fishing, the beach, and found his passion for basketball. In 1974, Charles Taylor, Daniels father passed away unexpectedly. Daniel’s family moved back to the ranch in Nebraska. &nbsp;Daniel's education continued in Harrison, Nebraska, where he graduated from high school. After completing his education, he spent a couple of years traveling and trying to find his niche. He traveled to Florida and then California where he worked with Deanna, Tony and Chris for several years.

Dan worked for BNSF Railroad for several years before he dedicated his career to Parker Hannifin Corporation in Alliance, Nebraska for 18 years. His commitment and hard work were evident throughout his tenure with the company. 

Beyond his professional life, Daniel was known for his love of reading, kind hearted-ness and honesty, he possessed a great sense of humor that made him the life of every party. His infectious laughter and love of bonfires were his trademark. Dan had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life and had a special gift for making others feel comfortable in his presence. 

In his free time, Dan found solace in nature's embrace. He loved nothing more than casting a line and spending serene moments fishing by the lakeside or gathering around campfires, or reading a good Louis L'Amore book. &nbsp;An avid hunter as well, his sisters both called him Deadeye Dan. &nbsp;Trap shooting was another passion that captured his heart; his expertise in this field earned him the distinction of being the Top Junior trap shooter in Washington State. 

Daniel is survived by his loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He leaves behind his mother Lela Taylor, as well as brothers David Taylor, Matt (Denise) Wood, Chris (Leah) Wood, sisters Dawnita Wood and Deanna (Tony) Johnson. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Together they find solace knowing that Daniel is now at peace alongside their father Charles Taylor, and Danny Wood. A funeral service will be held to celebrate the life of Daniel Leonard Taylor on October 3, 2023, at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska. The service will begin at 3:00 PM.

His warm heart, jovial spirit, and unwavering kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Daniel L. Taylor (1957 - 2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rodney Byard Tiensvold was born on September 6, 1936 and entered into eternal life on September 25, 2023.&nbsp; Rodney was born to Ella Mae and Odin Tiensvold in Rushville, Nebraska.&nbsp; Being the 5th of 6 children, he quickly learned how to work on the homestead. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On July 23, 1956, Rodney married the love of his live, Shirley Mae Throne.&nbsp; They welcomed their first child together, Gary Auther, in 1957.&nbsp; In 1961, the welcomed their daughter, Pammy Jean.&nbsp; Together as a family, they enjoyed traveling and camping. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rodney entered into the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956.&nbsp; Rodney was a livelong member of the Elk's Lodge.&nbsp; Here, he made lifelong friends who enjoyed playing cards together.&nbsp; Rodney provided a beautiful life as a professional truck driver who hauled cattle, beer, and liquid feed.&nbsp; Rodney retired from Midwest PMS in 2005 after dedicating 42 years to the company. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;His love for his wife, children, 8 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren was unconditional.&nbsp; Rodney had the best sense of humor and always made people laugh. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Moser; his brothers, Clarence, Richard, and Orville; his granddaughter, Wendy Ann Riensvold; and great granddaughter, Reaghan Elizabeth Graham. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rodney is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Mar; his sister, Diane Dohrman; his son, Gary (Deb) Tiensvold; and daughter, Pam (Tyler) Schiel; his grandchildren Tim (Emily) Tiensvold, Dennis Tiensvold, Kristen (Tom) Zeller, Bridget Tiensvold, Brandon (Danielle) Schiel, Brett (Jennifer) Schiel, and Brittney (Mitch) Weimer; his great grandchildren Karson Schiel, Vaugh, Creed and Tripp Weimer, Braylon and Deacon Schiel, Ryder Schiel, Margo, Neva, Holden and Henry "Hank" Tiensvold, Eli and Ezra Zeller, and Tiana, Gabriel and Adalyn Lind; and several nieces and nephews. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Although he is gone from our sight, he will forever be in our hearts. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Respects can be paid during his funeral at The Fort Morgan United Methodist Church on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. Mountain time.&nbsp; Graveside services will be held at the Fairview Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Mountain time in Rushville, Nebraska.

Rodney Byard Tiensvold  (1936-2023)

Chyrel Diane (Morgan) Cerny passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023 in Callaway, Nebraska at the Good Life Center.&nbsp; Many friends said their final goodbyes over the weekend as we cheered for her beloved Huskers to win.

She was born on February 8, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska and placed for adoption with the Nebraska Children's Home.&nbsp; At four months old, she was legally adopted by Rolland and Naomi Morgan, nee Thomas.&nbsp; She was welcomed into the family by an adopted older brother, Ray.&nbsp; Chyrel attended elementary school in Loup City and Bloomfield.&nbsp; The family moved to Rushville when Chyrel was in the 8th grade.&nbsp; On June 17, 1965, Chyrel married Dell Cerny.&nbsp; They made their home in Gordon, Nebraska.&nbsp; While in Gordon, two daughters, Barbara and Marcia, were born.&nbsp; In 1974, Chyrel and Dell moved to Arnold, Nebraska.&nbsp; Chyrel was proud to live in Custer county where her adoptive family had homesteaded and farmed.&nbsp; She was even more proud to live near the Custer County Farm that her grandparents had managed before her arrival.

Chyrel enjoyed babysitting many local children through the years and loved baking cookies for them.&nbsp; In 1978, Chyrel gave birth to a third daughter, Jo Dee.&nbsp; In 1979, Chyrel and Dell purchased the Triangle Lanes Bowling Alley.&nbsp; Chyrell spent her evenings working at the snack bar and even learned to bowl a decent game.&nbsp; Chyrel loved to drink iced tea and visit with friends.&nbsp; No one had a softer heart than Chyrel.&nbsp; She didn't have a mean bone n her body.&nbsp; Although she probably teased people a littel too much and was pretty outspoken all the time, she loved people.&nbsp; She loved making people smile.&nbsp; Chyrel loved going along for the ride with Dell.&nbsp; They enjoyed camping, traveling on the motorcycle, and driving their classic cars to shows and dinner runs.&nbsp; But mostly, she enjoyed going to see family and friends.&nbsp; Chyrel like to play card games and felt it a great joy when her great grandkids would ask her to play.&nbsp; Chyrel was a part of the Charming Chicks Club in Arnold and a Women's Fireman's Auxiliary in North Platte.&nbsp; She proudly helped serve in duties that were part of Dell's job and appointments throughout her career.

In 1988, Chyrel found a biological sister, Judy Mamot, on her mother's side.&nbsp; In 2021, another sister was found on her father's side.&nbsp; Chyrel crammed a lot of lost years into building a relationship with her sister, Sherlene.&nbsp; She loved hearing how much she looked and acted like her father.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Chyrel is preceded in death by her adoptive parents and brother; her birth mother, Dorothy Fleshman Ewers; two baby sisters; her birth father, William D. Bush; a half-brother, William (Billy) Bush, Jr; her youngest daughter, Jo Dee Hastings; and two granddaughters, LynDee and Paiton Hastings.

She is survived by her husband, Dell; sisters Sherlene (Robert) Stolley and Judy Mamot; daughters, Barbara (Michael) Gunther and Marcia (Scott) Gibson; grandchildren, Kayli (PJ) Hamburger, Britanny (Chris) Lehman, Shandell (Derick) Shelton, Tyann (Jacob) Pfisthner, and Jonathan Hastings; as well as nine great grandchildren, hadley, Hendryx, Hayden, Rex, Eirik, Ryatt, Christian, Rogen, and Anders; and three honorary grandchildren, Shayla, Isaac, and Jamie Tickle.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Central time at the Arnold United Methodist Church with Pastor Lana Day and Pastor Bill Williams officiating.&nbsp; The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.

The family requests to wear Husker Red for the service in honor of Chyrel's favorite team.

 </figure>Chyrel Diane (Morgan) Cerny passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023 in Callaway, Nebraska at the Good Life Center.&nbsp; Many friends said their final goodbyes over the weekend as we cheered for her beloved Huskers to win.She was born on February 8, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska and placed for adoption with the Nebraska Children's Home.&nbsp; At four months old, she was legally adopted by Rolland and Naomi Morgan, nee Thomas.&nbsp; She was welcomed into the family by an adopted older brother, Ray.&nbsp; Chyrel attended elementary school in Loup City and Bloomfield.&nbsp; The family moved to Rushville when Chyrel was in the 8th grade.&nbsp; On June 17, 1965, Chyrel married Dell Cerny.&nbsp; They made their home in Gordon, Nebraska.&nbsp; While in Gordon, two daughters, Barbara and Marcia, were born.&nbsp; In 1974, Chyrel and Dell moved to Arnold, Nebraska.&nbsp; Chyrel was proud to live in Custer county where her adoptive family had homesteaded and farmed.&nbsp; She was even more proud to live near the Custer County Farm that her grandparents had managed before her arrival.Chyrel enjoyed babysitting many local children through the years and loved baking cookies for them.&nbsp; In 1978, Chyrel gave birth to a third daughter, Jo Dee.&nbsp; In 1979, Chyrel and Dell purchased the Triangle Lanes Bowling Alley.&nbsp; Chyrell spent her evenings working at the snack bar and even learned to bowl a decent game.&nbsp; Chyrel loved to drink iced tea and visit with friends.&nbsp; No one had a softer heart than Chyrel.&nbsp; She didn't have a mean bone n her body.&nbsp; Although she probably teased people a littel too much and was pretty outspoken all the time, she loved people.&nbsp; She loved making people smile.&nbsp; Chyrel loved going along for the ride with Dell.&nbsp; They enjoyed camping, traveling on the motorcycle, and driving their classic cars to shows and dinner runs.&nbsp; But mostly, she enjoyed going to see family and friends.&nbsp; Chyrel like to play card games and felt it a great joy when her great grandkids would ask her to play.&nbsp; Chyrel was a part of the Charming Chicks Club in Arnold and a Women's Fireman's Auxiliary in North Platte.&nbsp; She proudly helped serve in duties that were part of Dell's job and appointments throughout her career.In 1988, Chyrel found a biological sister, Judy Mamot, on her mother's side.&nbsp; In 2021, another sister was found on her father's side.&nbsp; Chyrel crammed a lot of lost years into building a relationship with her sister, Sherlene.&nbsp; She loved hearing how much she looked and acted like her father.&nbsp;&nbsp;Chyrel is preceded in death by her adoptive parents and brother; her birth mother, Dorothy Fleshman Ewers; two baby sisters; her birth father, William D. Harry "Joe" Schamp, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2023 in Chadron, Nebraska.&nbsp; Joe was born on January 22, 1950 in Spaulding, Nebraska to parents Harry W. and Orvetta (Crumrine) Schamp.

Joe graduated from Burwell High School in Burwell, Nebraska in 1968.&nbsp; Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army.&nbsp; Joe served his Country from 1969 until being Honorably Discharged in 1971.&nbsp; Following the military, Joe went to school to receive hie Diesel Mechanic Degree.&nbsp; He worked construction, became an OTR Truck Driver for several years, as well as hauling rock.

Joe enjoyed everything outside:&nbsp; hunting, fishing, camping, and trail riding with the SxS.&nbsp; He loved every opportunity he was able to spend time with family.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Harry &amp; Orvetta; sister, Sandy Cook; brother, Chuck Schamp; son, Michael Wright; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins that spend their whole lives growing up together.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ruth Ernestine (Trute) Tripple, age 88, of Gering, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Heritage Estates in Gering.&nbsp; Ruth was born on March 9, 1935 in Yuma, Colorado to Ernest and Frieda (Goeglein) Trute.&nbsp; She was the second of three children.&nbsp; She received her schooling in Yuma, Colorado until they moved to Gering, Nebraska her senior year, and that is where she met her future husband, Don Tripple.&nbsp; She married Don on August 14, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and life-long mate and partner to her husband, Don.&nbsp; She was an active farm wife and always there to help in any way needed.&nbsp; She enjoyed raising her vegetable gardens, canning the produce, was an excellent seamstress, and made the wedding dresses for her two daughters and daughter-in-law.&nbsp; One of Ruth's fondest memories was of her and Don raising sheep; she loved lambing season and always had a special touch with animals.&nbsp; Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a good friend to many.&nbsp; Ruth loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for 57 years. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ruth is survived by her daughter, Nance (David) Sizemore of Colo, Iowa; son, Mike (Annita) Tripple of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and daughter, Connie (Jerry) Harms of Gering, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was blessed with five grandchildren: Kelli (Tyson) Harper, Mindi (Darrell) Woolsey, David Ray Sizemore, Joseph (Bri) Sizemore, and Dillon (Emily) Tripple; and eight great-grandchildren: Luke, Leah and Lacy Harper, Liam, Landon and Easton Woolsey, Julian Sizemore, and Jaxsen Tripple.&nbsp; She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Knapp of North Platte, Nebraska and brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Barbara Trute of Yuma, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Don Tripple (2019); her parents, Ernest &amp; Frieda Trute; in-laws, Fred &amp; Mollie Tripple; infant son, Jacob; and brother-in-law, Duane Kanpp. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in the knowledge that Ruth is safe in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.&nbsp; The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heritage Estates and Regional West Hospice for their love and care of Ruth. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A Funeral Service for Ruth will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Mountain time at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering, Nebraska with Reverend Richard Neugebauer officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials may be given to the family for designation at a later date.&nbsp; Fond memories and messages of sympathy may be left for the family at www.geringchapel.com.

Ruth Ernestine Tripple  (1935-2023)

Barbara Ann (Lewis) Goldman, 76, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Scottsbluff First United Methodist Church (The Vine Church). Barb was born February 24, 1947, in Chadron, Nebraska to Claude and Helen (Waldron) Lewis and raised in Crawford, Nebraska where she graduated high school. She attended nursing school in Scottsbluff after graduation, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. Barb worked as a registered nurse at Regional West Medical Center from 1968 until her retirement in 2013.

She met and married Robert J. Goldman, and they became the proud parents of Erika and Michael.

Barbara’s interests beyond her family and career included her home, yard, and garden. She also loved to travel, exploring the country and world via road trips, trains and cruising the open ocean. Barbara greatly valued her time with friends and her very large chosen family for whom she loved to cook for, visit and chat with – many of which partially grew up in the Goldman home, playing in their yard and learning to cook in Barb’s kitchen. After dinner, many hours were spent at the dining room table playing cards, laughing, telling stories, and enjoying Barb’s homemade desserts. Her stories were always gripping. They ranged from her childhood memories traveling, to her mom in their kitchen, her dad and his service station, her brothers (and all their antics), to her career and all the special nurses she worked with and built deep relationships which lasted her lifetime. Barb was also drawn to tracing her roots through genealogy and helping others do the same on her own and through the Western Nebraska Family Research and History Center.

She also had a personal mission to ensure that Veterans, particularly WWII Vets, were remembered for their heroism and worked tirelessly to get as many as possible on Honor Flights to Washington DC. She wrote hundreds, if not thousands, of personal letters to every soldier who traveled. She escorted veterans two separate times, once with her father.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert Goldman of Scottsbluff; children, Erika Tikalsky of Scottsbluff and Michael Goldman and his wife Jamie of Golden, CO; grandson, Alexander Tikalsky of Scottsbluff; her brothers, Ken Lewis of Elizabeth, CO and Rick Lewis of Alliance, NE; mother-in-law, Helen Goldman of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Goldman of Los Angeles, CA; and sister-in-law, Heidi Goldman of Tucson, AZ.

Barbara Ann (Lewis) Goldman  (1947-2023)

We lost our beautiful mother, Isabel “Liz” Sisneros, on August 9, 2020. She was active and maintained her usual daily routine until she passed. She had just taken and passed her driver’s test and renewed her license for another five years. Her wish was to always be able to care for herself physically and mentally to the end of her life. We were lucky that she never tested positive for Covid and we were able to be with her to the end.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Mountain time on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Mitchell City Cemetery in Mitchell, Nebraska with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant. The service will be live-streamed and recorded on Isabel’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Isabel was born on July 8, 1927, to Vincente Hernandez Martinez and Barbarita Quinones in Germania/Midland, Texas. She was the youngest of ten children.

She married Ysidro Sisneros on May 20, 1944, in Mitchell, Nebraska. They had four children, Delores, Joe, Ed, and Rudy, that were raised in Mitchell. The couple divorced in 1976 due to many differences and then remarried on November 20, 1986. They moved to Colorado after Ysidro retired from farming to be with family and grandchildren.

Isabel’s primary career was raising her family and managing the many tasks that were part of being a farmer’s wife. She loved her family and was dedicated to their well-being and education. Isabel enjoyed music and her home was always filled with music, singing and dancing. She even taught herself to play the piano.

Writing was another activity Isabel liked. She was never able to complete a formal education because of her family’s migrant lifestyle, but she learned to read and write in both Spanish and English. Her stories included family history, her difficult times including her divorce, her son Joe’s time in Vietnam, especially after he was wounded in action, and her personal growth. She was able to successfully communicate her emotions though her writings and poems.

Some of her many hobbies included crafting, cooking, sewing, crocheting and cleaning. It seemed the furniture was moved weekly, even in her later years.

Isabel encouraged her family to believe and trust in God, to stay in touch, support each other, and to remember that even though they started as migrant workers, with a focus on education and hard work it was possible to make it in this world.

Our Mom was our resource. She was the one we called for all family phone numbers, addresses, family status, birthdays, anniversaries, and any changes. She was even the one to call for questions on family traditions, customs and even how to say a word in Spanish. We still think of calling her with questions before remembering we can no longer call her. We miss the calls, the celebrations, and the times together, but sometimes we still hear her voice and messages and realize she is still with us in spirit.

Survivors include her daughter, Delores; sons, Joe (Nikki), Ed (DeAnna), and Rudy (Patty); grandchildren, Matthew, Brad (Mindy), Tami (Rob), Angie, Levi, Mike, and Kurt; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Weston, Sydney, Samantha, Zane and Max; along with other extended family members.

Isabel was preceded death by her husband, Ysidro; son-in-law, Mike; and all her brothers and sisters.

Arthur Owens, Jr., age 72, of Mitchell, Nebraska passed away September 24, 2023, at his home after fighting a long, unwelcomed battle with cancer. At the time of his death, the love of his life Patricia, wife of 49 years, was by his side as always and he was surrounded by the love of his entire family.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place with no planned memorial service per Art’s wishes. The family will have a celebration of Art’s life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at noon at the Mitchell Fairgrounds Meeting Room. From this lifetime love three daughters were born: Lisa, Ranae and Michelle. Art had one son, Arthur, from a previous marriage. Starting at the age of 16, Art worked most of his life as a water-well driller for companies such as Reizenstein Drilling, Midwest Farm Service, Sargent Irrigation and Nelson Wells, where he made many lifelong friends. His proudest achievement, besides being a father and a Papa, was being the owner/operator of his own business, Owens Drilling and Pump Service. One of his work talents was water-witching, and he was called upon many times over the years and was successful at finding the best place to drill for water. Art also spent time in 2006 working in Africa teaching locals to drill for water. Art had many hobbies, such as camping, enjoyment of old cars, collecting many things, competing in demolition derbies and stock car racing. He enjoyed welding and making many items with this trade. He loved to take trips with Pat and their family, especially going to Deadwood on a whim. Art was a guy who was excited by the small things in life. Matthew Craig Heaton Sr, 58, of Scottsbluff passed away unexpectedly in his home on September 22, 2023. Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30th, at Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Greg Carter officiating. A reception will follow at The Emerald Center, 17 West 16th St. Scottsbluff. Casual attire is requested. The family requests that any memorials in Matthew’s name that wish to be given go to The American Diabetic Association.

Matt faced many health challenges his entire life due to childhood diabetes, however he never complained and met everyone who crossed his path with a bit of witty banter and a great joke or two! 

Matt was the youngest of four sons born to Gary and Darlene (Portenier) Heaton on August 9th, 1965, in Greeley, Colorado. The family moved to Kimball in 1968 and Matt attended K-12 at Kimball schools, graduating in 1983. Matt attended Western Nebraska Community College on a music scholarship, where he specialized in trombone and vocal performance. 

In 1987, he married Shelly Steele from Scottsbluff, and they were blessed with one son, Matthew Jr. Matt was wonderful with people and honed those skills for a career in customer sales and service. A couple of his most enjoyable positions included working with Pay-n-Pak and Z&amp;M Lumber, where he worked for over 16 years. He also enjoyed his most recent position at MBKEM Enterprises, where he was employed at the time of his passing.

Matt’s greatest work and joy was being a devoted father and grandfather to his three grandchildren Joslynn, Jakoby, and Jaylee. They absolutely were the light of his life! Matt continued to enjoy music and had a very impressive musical CD collection, along with enjoying camping and fishing trips with his son, brothers, and his best buddies. Matt was most loved by his friends and family for his wonderful sense of fun, straight talk, loving ways, generosity, and his incredible outlook on life. He was one in a million and will be forever missed! 

Matt was preceded in death by his father Gary; brother Barry, and sister-in-law Donna Heaton. Donna Marie Amateis, 94, of Bridgeport, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at Skyview of Bridgeport. Per her request cremation has taken place with a private family inurnment at a later date. Donna was born April 12, 1929, at Bancroft, NE to Herman Blome, Sr. and Lana (Abendroth) Blome. The family move to Western Nebraska in 1937, living on the Camp Rock Ranch west of Bridgeport. In 1947 the family moved their ranching operation south of Bridgeport. She attended school in Bridgeport, graduating in 1948. 

Donna married Pete Amateis, Jr. of Broadwater, NE on June 13, 1948, at the Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, NE. They lived on a ranch west of Broadwater for 34 years and in 1982 they moved into Broadwater. Pete preceded her in death on September 3, 2011. She loved doing any type of crafts and was an avid seamstress and quilter. She also loved to cook. Donna was an Emergency Medical Technician for 10 years with the Broadwater Fire Department. Working with the ambulance crew was some of her most memorable times. She was proud of her role with them. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Broadwater. 

Donna was preceded in death her husband Pete; parents; 3 brothers Louis, Eugene and Herman, Jr.; and 3 sisters Joan Wood, Joyce Whitaker, and Gladys Nichols.
