&nbsp; Pamela “Pam” J. Kepler, age 76, of Dalton, NE passed away in Bridgeport, NE on Sunday, March 3, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Broadwater, NE with PMA Bev Adam officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Broadwater, NE. Services will be recorded and available for later viewing on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel website. Memorials will be for Messiah Lutheran Church.

Pam was born on March 8th, 1947 in Alliance, NE to Milo Woods and N. Darlyne (Marsh) Woods. She was the 2nd kid of 5. Siblings: David Woods, Charles Koozer, Deborah D. Koozer, Lucinda (Koozer) Gerhold, Janet (Koozer) Grimes. Pam attended Alliance High School. She met the love of her life, Gerald Kepler. They were joined in marriage on November 24th, 1965 where they have been married for over 58 years. Pam is a prestigious member of her communities and faithfully served them over the years. Between Broadwater and Dalton, Pam worked for the US Postal Service for over 20 years. She loved her job very much. She loved talking with members of the community each and every day. She was also a part of the Broadwater Fire Department for over 30 years. As well as serving as a volunteer EMT for over 20 years. She ran Kep’s general store and Kep’s Cafe for 6 years where the family worked together. She worked for Phillips Feed yard in Lisco for almost 10 years as a bookkeeper. She was extremely hard working, working for the majority of her life. 

She was also very involved in community events such as Broadwater days. She loved to help organize the event as well as many other events where the community would gather. Her loyalty and dedication will be missed in her community.

Pam enjoyed playing cards, specifically pitch and 31, against her family. Her love for cards turned into love for gambling on the slot machines where she loved to show how “lucky” she was. She enjoyed shopping. You would rarely see Pam walking out of a store empty handed. More importantly, Pam loved to support her kids and grandkids in their activities. Her pride beamed for her family. Her family was her life. She always made sure there was an abundance of food prepared for them whether it was a holiday or a random occasion. She was servant-hearted and wanted the people she loved to be loved and provided for.

She was a faithful Christian and member of The Messiah Lutheran Church in Broadwater. She was a faithful servant to the Lord throughout her life. 

Pam is survived by her husband, Gerald Kepler, son and daughter in law Shawn and Kelly Kepler, of Fairgrove, MO, son and daughter in law Shane and Melissa Kepler of Denton, NE, daughter and son in law Shellee and Rick Maginness of Manhattan, KS. Grandchildren Kayla (Kepler) and Derek Daniels and Danielle Kepler, Chance Maginness, Tony Maginness, Jacquelyn (Kepler) and Martin Schildt, Cole and Lauren Kepler, Hannah Kepler, and Bo Kepler, great-grandson Kepler Daniels, and she was looking forward to two additional great-grandchildren this Spring. She is also survived by many additional extended family members.

Pam is proceeded in death by her parents Milo Woods, mother and step-father N. Darlyne and George Koozer, sister Deborah D. Koozer, grandparents, and grandson Jacob Kepler.&nbsp;&nbsp;

George Patrick McDonald passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.&nbsp; He was 93.

He was born in Alliance on February 11, 1931 to Timothy and Esther (Nation) McDonald.

He served in the U.S. Army from December 1, 1948 until he was honorably discharged on August 19, 1952.

On July 27, 1953 he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Tschacher in Hot Springs, SD.

He hired on the C.B. &amp; Q. Railroad in 1953.&nbsp; Following 40 years of service he retired as an electrician from BNSF in 1993.&nbsp; He also was engaged in numerous farming operation in the area his entire life.&nbsp; George was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Eagles Club, American Legion and I.B.E.W.

He is survived by his sons, Father Mike McDonald of Gering, Pat (Margaret) McDonald of McKinney, TX, Dave (Sandy) McDonald of Strasburg, CO and Tim (Brenda) McDonald of Alliance, his grandchildren, Sarah McDonald and fiancé’ Shaun Sayres, Matthew McDonald, Nathan (Jessica) McDonald, Shawn (Danielle) McDonald, Jordan (Kyle) Cisneros, Krista (Riley) Nemeth, Chelsea McDonald and Kay Lee McDonald and 7 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Tom McDonald of Hemingford, Esther (Arnold) Rogers of Kansas City, MO, Jerry McDonald of Denver, Elaine Heisey of AZ, Helen White of Thedford and Kathleen Keaton of The Colony, TX&nbsp; and his brother-in-law, George (Devona) Tschacher of Cheyenne, WY and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his brother, Francis McDonald and his sister, Sharon Stark.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance. Father Michael McDonald and Father Matt Koperski and other Priests of the Diocese of Grand Island officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors.&nbsp; A wake service will be Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church.&nbsp; Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home and continue at the wake service.&nbsp;

George Patrick McDonald (1931 - 2024)

Judith "Jo" Joan (Ward) Garner, 82, passed away on March 1, 2024, in her home with family by her side.

Jo was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Martha and Roland Ward. She was raised in Hemingford, graduating with the class of 1959. On March 3, 1960, she married Jesse William Garner during a blizzard in Scottsbluff. They lived a ranching life in Lakeside before moving to Alliance to farm and ranch.

Jo worked outside the home at Parker Hannifin, later joining the BNSF Railroad and working for 30 years as a carman before retiring. She was known as "Jo Momma" to her fellow crew.

She moved to Oshkosh in 2022 after a health crisis and lived with her daughter, Laurie, for the remainder of her life.

Jo was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Alliance and the James Barry American Legion Post No. 9 Auxiliary in Hemingford. She was adored by many in both organizations and was known for being an excellent storyteller and conversationalist. She was known to strike up conversations with complete strangers and would have their whole life stories and friendship before they knew what had happened.

Jo's greatest loves were her family and making memories with them, traveling and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She visited Australia, Hawaii and several other states with her family. She loved attending the extracurricular activities of her grandchildren, and was always their loudest cheerleader. She enjoyed collecting antiques and reading the local newspaper from front to back.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roland Ward and Martha Delhotal, her brothers Gene Ward and John Ward and sister Shirley Daugherty.

She is survived by her children, Leisa Zapata, Laurie (Mark) Soper, Jesse "Brady" Garner (Holly Wade) and Bruce (Trish) Garner; and her grandchildren, Mylena, Elisha and Ariana Aranda and Amiel Zapata, Tyler, Zachary and Cali Soper, Mitchell (Harlee), Zane and Mason Garner, and Lauren and Jake Garner.

A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance, with a reception to follow at noon at the Alliance Eagles.

Carlos Gonzalez passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at his home in Alliance at the age of 44.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez was born on March 30, 1979 in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico to Antonio and Maria T. (Garza) Gonzalez, Jr. &nbsp;His family moved to Alliance in 1986. &nbsp;

Carlos started trucking in 2004 and continued working until his passing. &nbsp;Prior to trucking he had been employed as a mechanic for Murphy Tractor and Equipment in Omaha. &nbsp;

In June of 2006 he was united in marriage to Angela Delacruz in Alliance. &nbsp;He is survived by his wife, Angela, the children he gained when he married Angela that are Oscar Herrera of Omaha, Juanita Herrera of Alliance and Isaac Herrera of Lincoln and 3 grandchildren, Jaylen and A.J. Garcia and Leo Herrera. &nbsp;He is also survived by his father, Antonio Gonzalez, Jr. of Alliance, his brothers, Antonio (Leta) Gonzalez of Alliance, Alejandro (Melissa) Gonzalez of North Platte, Emmanuel Gonzalez and Jose Jesus “Joey” Gonzalez of Alliance. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating.  Cremation will follow the service and burial will be in San Benito, N.L., Mexico.  A wake service will be Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church. Geraldine Mae Bruns, 93, of Rushville, NE passed into eternal rest peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Gordon Countryside Care in Gordon NE.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024,10:00 am, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rushville with Reverend Allan Wierschke officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery in Rushville, NE.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Geraldine entered into Holy Matrimony with Lester Bruns of Rushville on April 8, 1948, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rushville. To this union four children were born: &nbsp;Sharon, Gerald, Vickie, and Judy. &nbsp;They farmed and ranched east of Rushville until retirement in 1994. &nbsp;Lester and Gerry traveled many miles and wintered in Texas and Arizona from 1988 to 2004. &nbsp;They really enjoyed their square dancing and lifelong friends from the RV camps.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Geraldine enjoyed travel, crafts, gardening and family, especially all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed making crayon color boxes and scrubbies to share with everyone. Geraldine was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aide, American Legion Auxiliary, and Tops Club.

Merle L. Smith passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.&nbsp; He was 83 years of age.

He was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on September 18, 1940 to Robert and Maxine (Baker) Smith.&nbsp; His family moved to Alliance in the 1950’s.

In May of 1960 he was united in marriage to Kathryn (Kay) L. DeBruler.&nbsp; To this union their daughter, Kim was born.

He served in the U.S. Army from February 20, 1962 to February 19, 1964.&nbsp; For many years he was a custodian at the Alliance High School.&nbsp; He then hired on to the Burlington Northern Railroad as a pipefitter.&nbsp; Following 30 years of service he retired from BNSF.

Merle was a lifetime member of the Alliance Eagles Club and V.F.W.

He is survived by his wife, Kay, his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bob Stegemann of Alliance, his grandson, J.J. (Chelsea) Simmons, his great grandchildren, Zachary Simmons, Christopher Wilson, Macey Simmons and Myleigh Simmons, and great-great grandchildren, Greyson and Bennett Simmons.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Larry (Jean) Smith of Alliance, Dale Smith of Florida and Peggy Moulder of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews including, Troy and Crystal Smith and Tonya Perrienk as well as extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister-in-law Leanne Smith, and Nephew Tom DeBruler.

A visitation will be Monday, March 4 from 1-7 p.m., with family being present from 4-6, at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.&nbsp; Cremation will follow and a memorial service will be Wednesday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery.

A luncheon will be served following the ceremonies at the Alliance Eagles Club.

Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans.

John P. Courtney passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at his home in Alliance with his family by his side.&nbsp; He was 70 years of age.

He was born on June 13, 1953 in Dodge City, Kansas to Leo and Iveda (McCabe) Courtney. John attended school in Hoxie, Kansas and graduated from Hoxie High School.&nbsp;

He entered the U.S. Army on February 15, 1973 and was honorably discharged on February 13, 1976.&nbsp; In Kansas John worked in farming, construction and truck driving before moving to Alliance in 1996.&nbsp; He was then employed at Parker Hannefin for 18 years.&nbsp;

On&nbsp; June 19, 1998 he was united in marriage to Bobi Sample in Alliance.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Bobi, his daughter, Caroline (Jason) Lewis of Lillian, AL, his two grandchildren, Luke Lewis and Lillie (Kade) Peterson and his great-grandchild, Sutton Peterson.&nbsp; John is also survived by the children and grandchildren he gained when he married Bobi, including, Erin (Al) DuBray and Lisa (Matt) Burri of Alliance, Jessi (Cody) Davis of Gillette, WY and Jennie Sample of Bridgeport, grandchildren,&nbsp; Abigail Burri, Ivan Burri, Brooklyn Burri, Shawn Sample, Sofee Sample, Savannah Sample, Francis DuBray, Brianna DuBray, Wyatt Davis and Willow Davis and great-granddaughter, Dominique Sample.&nbsp; He is also survived by his sisters, Georgia Briery of Norton, KS, Mary Courtney of OK and sister in-law Betty Courtney of Alabama..&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Courtney.

Richard was born June 29, 1937, in Scottsbluff on a farm in the Sunflower Community to Alva Charles and Evelyn (Taft) Woodard. He attended grade school in the Lyman, Nebraska area and high school in Morrill, Nebraska. Richard enlisted in the US Army following high school in 1957.

He married the love of his life, Shirley Weimer, during his time of duty. Three children were born to this union: Darrell, Roxanne, and Anthony.&nbsp;

Richard spent his lifetime working in the agriculture industry including livestock feed, fertilizer, chemical and crop sciences, irrigation districts, and center pivot irrigation companies. He was a college professor in the Ag Center at Western Nebraska Community College from 1980 until his retirement in 2000. Richard then started his own consulting company, Midwest Environmental, which he ran for the next twelve years.

Survivors include his children, Darrell (Shannon) Woodard of Mt. Vernon, WA, Roxi Corr of Tumwater, WA, and Tony Woodard of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren and ten grandchildren, all of whom he loved very much; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special buddy, Peanut.

Bill was born January 10, 1939, in Morrill, Nebraska to Bill and Anna (Snitko) Fedorchik. He was one of eight children and raised on a farm south of Morrill. Bill graduated from Morrill High School in 1957 and soon entered the United States Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged in 1960.

Bill became united in marriage to Carol Behling in 1967. Together they welcomed three children, Bill, Todd, and Kari.

Bill worked at Coop in the tire shop but later began employment at Western Sugar Factory where he remained for nearly forty years. He also worked at Westco in Morrill shortly before his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his lifetime. Bill was an avid pool player and liked playing cards with his friends at Lordinos. However, his favorite pastime was dancing, dancing, and more dancing, especially doing the jitterbug!

Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Bill (Kerri)Fedorchik, Todd (Teena) Fedorchik, and Kari (Darrell) Franklin; nine grandchildren, Jacob (Sara), Jerrod (Amanda), Austen, Kalista, Kurtis, Eli, Ryder, Sarah (Kevin Barthel), and Tyler; three great-grandchildren, Braydon, Braxton, and Charlotte; siblings, Sophie Wallentine-Luchterhand, Vera Applegate-Morgan, Helen Seifert, and Henry (Rosemary) Fedorchik; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She had various jobs throughout the years, but the most significant was her work as an administrative assistant at the Weitzman Institute of Science in Israel. Anne was extremely intelligent and an expert typist, making her the ideal candidate for the position which she held for fifteen years.

Anne enjoyed being outdoors with her hands in the dirt, tending to her garden. She was an avid reader, filling a lot of her free time absorbing hundreds of books.

Survivors include her children, Daniel Walker, David (Maria) McGuire, and Annette Flaten; grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Bosn, Andrew Flaten, Brandy Walker, and Adam Walker; great-grandchildren, Blake Bower, Riley Bower, and Jacob Bosn; brother, Hugh (Judy) Stone; along with other extended family members.

Donna married the love of her life, Jimmie Dale Clark, on May 11, 1957 at the Henry Methodist Church. To this union of 58 years, Richard, Gary, and Cathryn were born.

After working as a nurses aide for many years she became a stay at home wife and mother. Raising children and assisting her husband in several successful business adventures kept her very busy. She always managed to warm her friends and family with not only her kindness and giving nature, but her abundance of baked goods (especially her cinnamon rolls), and her lovingly crafted crotched and quilted projects.

Donna is survived by her sons, Gary (Susan) Clark of Milliken, CO, and Richard Clark of Alliance, NE; sister, Vivian Lillie of Homedale, ID; seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. 

She joins in her heavenly home, her husband Jimmie Clark; daughter, Cathryn Clark; sister, Roberta Rincker; and several other relatives.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Donna Lee (Johnson) Clark (1940 - 2024)

Corraine Joanne (Jacobs) Letcher, 89, passed away peacefully February 7, 2024 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Corraine was born to Floyd and Helen (Reimann) Jacobs on October 27, 1934 south of Hay Springs, NE. She was the oldest of two daughters. Throughout her life, she never lived more than 10 miles away from her birthplace. During her school years, Corraine attended Sandridge School and Hay Springs High School, where she graduated in 1952. After graduation, Corraine aspired to attend fashion school in Chicago. 

She ultimately stayed near Hay Springs and, in 1955, married Alvern Letcher. The couple were united for 66 years until his death in 2021. To this union, four children were born: Randy (Stubby), Valora, Lyndall (Chessy), and Vern (EB). 

Corraine had numerous passions. She enjoyed sewing and machine embroidery. Pat's Creative was one of her favorite places to spend time with friends. She was the very best grandma and made the most fashionable outfits, sewing beautiful clothing for her sons/daughter/granddaughters. Corraine created many fancy bowls, hats, shirts, and patch designs for everyone. When the sweet corn was close to ready, you would find Corraine outside checking daily to see if it was ready. Sometimes the ears were barely colored, but she would cook them up and eat them for breakfast, lunch, supper, and snacks. She didn’t like to share with the raccoons, but had no problem sharing with neighbors because that meant when their patch was ready she would get some more. Corraine could never turn down an ear of sweet corn. 

Alvern and Corraine ventured "North" often to see if Corraine could beat the one armed bandit, almost always coming home a little richer. Corraine continued to go to Deadwood and Prairie Winds with Valora and friends. 

Corraine was always willing to bring out "drink" to the picnic table and sit to chat with whomever was there. She would hurry to mix up tea and make cinnamon and sugar biscuit donuts. Cribbage was another passion. Corraine and Alvern would play cribbage to see who had to go get the mail. 

Even after Alvern passed, Corraine still found joy in playing cribbage because of this family tradition. She fostered such a welcoming environment, whether during her time working at Co-op or while at the farm. There was a hot and delicious meal every day and her cooking didn’t lack. She had warm sticky rolls and coffee ready for practically any occasion. She shared her "special" recipe for sticky rolls with many. 

She taught us how to selflessly care for others, making sure to check in with those out on their own. Corraine was so generous with a cold glass of lemonade/tea, a kind word, or a random gift. She was pretty damn hip for her age and stayed current with technology. She loved computers and was very tech savvy throughout the years. This encouraged friendships of many ages. 

n recent years, Corraine got to check off a bucket list event by attending George Strait concerts with Amberleigh, Valora, and Donna. This brought her great joy; spending time with family and listening to George Strait. She was rocking out till the very end - truly couldn't believe she stayed up that late! Love you mom/sister/grandma/friend! 

Corraine is survived by sister Donna (Bob) Housh; daughter Valora and son Lyndall; daughters-in-law Camy and Shiela; grandchildren Desi, Amberleigh, Alex (Amanda), Bryce, Tanner (Devyn), Tauna, Nate (Erica), Drew, and Hunter; and great-grandchildren Evan, Finley, Ford, Link, and Rex. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Gerald and sister-in-laws Joann, Charlyn (Dick), and Loreen (John), as well as many nieces and nephews and extended families.

Corraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvern, sons Randy and Vern, daughter-in-law Karla, grandson Evan, and sisters-in-law Marilyn and Aldean.

 </figure>Corraine Joanne (Jacobs) Letcher, 89, passed away peacefully February 7, 2024 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.Corraine was born to Floyd and Helen (Reimann) Jacobs on October 27, 1934 south of Hay Springs, NE. She was the oldest of two daughters. Throughout her life, she never lived more than 10 miles away from her birthplace. During her school years, Corraine attended Sandridge School and Hay Springs High School, where she graduated in 1952. After graduation, Corraine aspired to attend fashion school in Chicago. She ultimately stayed near Hay Springs and, in 1955, married Alvern Letcher. The couple were united for 66 years until his death in 2021. To this union, four children were born: Randy (Stubby), Valora, Lyndall (Chessy), and Vern (EB). Corraine had numerous passions. She enjoyed sewing and machine embroidery. Pat's Creative was one of her favorite places to spend time with friends. She was the very best grandma and made the most fashionable outfits, sewing beautiful clothing for her sons/daughter/granddaughters. Corraine created many fancy bowls, hats, shirts, and patch designs for everyone. When the sweet corn was close to ready, you would find Corraine outside checking daily to see if it was ready. Sometimes the ears were barely colored, but she would cook them up and eat them for breakfast, lunch, supper, and snacks. She didn’t like to share with the raccoons, but had no problem sharing with neighbors because that meant when their patch was ready she would get some more. Nancy was born May 28, 1930, in Oxford, Nebraska to William J. and Bernice (Rhynalds) Nissen. She graduated from Oxford High School, Oxford, Nebraska in 1948 and married her high school sweetheart Don Deselms in 1952. She attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska and taught elementary school in Lexington and Hemingford, Nebraska before beginning her career as a fulltime mother and homemaker as a mother of three children.

Nancy and Don moved to Chadron in 1963 where Don was employed at Chadron State College until his retirement in 1992. Nancy was active in her community as a 75-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Grace Episcopal Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, baking, gardening and refinishing and collecting antiques and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Don of almost 60 years and her son Bert Deselms of Omaha. She is survived by her children Jay (Deb) Deselms of Platteville, Colorado, and Cyd (Rod) Hanson of Chappell, Nebraska, grandchildren Jessica Deselms (Jerry Feitz) of Ottawa, Kansas, Sarah Deselms of Omaha, Samantha (Kolbe) Pfingsten of Plymouth, Nebraska, Alexandra Deselms of Cody, Wyoming, and Lucas (Sierra) Hanson of Chappell, Nebraska. Six great-grandchildren, Maddison Deselms, Kherington, Kooper and Kora Pfingsten, and Sutton and Ashby Hanson. She is also survived by one sister, Carol Veldhuisen of Portland, Oregon, two brothers-in-law, Harold (Barb) Deselms of Pueblo, Colorado and Derald Deselms of Grand Island and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beth Ann (Woods) Kime, 73, of rural Gordon, NE passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and a recent hemorrhagic stroke. &nbsp;

Beth was born on November 8, 1950, to Vearl and Hazel (Lipe) Woods in St. Paul, Nebraska. &nbsp;She attended a rural elementary school and then attended St. Paul High School. &nbsp;Following graduation, Beth moved to Chadron, Nebraska and attended Chadron State College, majoring in art. &nbsp;While at Chadron State, she met a lifelong friend in Patricia (Kime) Decker. &nbsp;They were roommates and great friends. &nbsp;Pat brought Beth home with her one weekend and she met Pat’s older brother Steve, beginning a romance that would last for over 50 years until her death. &nbsp;Steve has said he is so grateful to his sister for bringing Beth home with her because he met his soulmate when he met Beth. &nbsp;

Beth married Steven P. Kime of rural Gordon on May 27, 1972. &nbsp; They lived on the Kime ranch and Beth became the ultimate ranch wife, helping Steve in the hayfield, caring for cows and calves, raising fresh food in the garden and taking care of the house and yard. &nbsp;Beth and Steve were blessed with four sons – John, David, Michael &amp; James – and she somehow managed to balance mothering those four active boys and still helping on the ranch. &nbsp;Beth was very proud of all her boys and her family brought her joy every day.

Beth also enjoyed crafts of all kinds and shared her knowledge and skills with all the children in her life. &nbsp;She knitted, crocheted, sewed, made quilts, did beadwork, sketched pictures and even wrote and illustrated a couple of books to share with her sons and other local children. &nbsp;She also played guitar and sang and taught the boys music. &nbsp;Beth loved the outdoors and nature and began fishing and camping at an early age with her dad. &nbsp;Beth and her dad taught Steve to fish, and she passed her love of the outdoors on to her sons too. &nbsp;The whole family enjoyed fishing year-round, and they also began participating in rendezvous in the area and attended Fur Trade Days in Chadron for many years. Beth even learned how to tan hides and made buckskin outfits for her and Steve to wear during these excursions. &nbsp;She also made baby moccasins for a few dear friends when they were expecting.

Beth was also an excellent baker. She made pies and the best homemade rolls and breads. She even took a class about cake decorating and made several wedding cakes for friends and family members. &nbsp;She shared that joy with children as well, having them pull a kitchen chair up to the counter to help as she patiently supervised or helping them to build and decorate the gingerbread houses she baked. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Beth is survived by her husband, Steve Kime of rural Gordon, son John Kime of Ridgefield, WA, son David Kime of rural Gordon, son Michael Kime (KyLee, J.D. and Orin) of Gordon and son James Kime of rural Gordon, sister Kathy (Woods) Bissell (Gary Bissell) of Casper, WY and numerous cousins. &nbsp;She is predeceased by her mother Hazel Woods, her father Vearl Woods, her grandparents and a number of aunts and uncles. &nbsp;

Ellee Amber Ferebee gave the initial impression of being incredibly shy and introverted. Like a butterfly, she could stay a comfortable distance from people and surroundings until she was ready to land. When she landed, she did so with passion, confidence and joy. She was very aware of the essence of Ellee and did not waiver from who she was. Ellee was funny! She always had a way to brighten the room

Ellee had amazing adoration for her best friends and siblings, Jaydon and Kaitlyn. She had passion for the family pets, Roxie, Hey-yo and Binx. She loved to dance, but in keeping with her persona, she chose to share that with a chosen few – family and friends. She loved to learn and was proud of her accomplishments. Though very quiet in school, she was obsessed with her kindergarten papers, organizing and saving every paper she brought home. Ellee loved her family and had great fun swimming, camping and hiking with them. She enjoyed trips to Toadstool Geologic Park, Jump Craze, Post Playhouse, Storybook Island and Chadron State Park.

Ellee was born December 26, 2017 and left this world February 8, 2024. She is survived by her parents, Jake and Katie Ferebee and siblings, Kaitlyn and Jaydon. Rocky Olson, age 67, of Hemingford, Nebraska, passed away peacefully and went to see Jesus on February 15, 2024.

Rocky was born on September 9, 1956 in Alliance, Nebraska to Merton and Helen (Lust) Olson. He attended Box Butte County School and Hemingford High School. He lived on a ranch in Sioux county his whole life, where he was happiest feeding and working with cattle. Rocky had a heart of gold, was very generous, and would help anyone at any time. Fishing and hunting were his favorite hobbies, alongside cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He enjoyed country western music and loved to dance.

Survivors include his brothers, Jim (Diane) Olson of Hemingford and Rick (Bethany) Olson of Scottsbluff; sisters, Lelo (Gary) Hennings of Severance, Colorado and Marlaine (Ted) Jacobs of Scottsbluff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Helen Olson; sister-in-law, Linda Lou Olson; and niece, Delta Dawn Olson.

Rocky Olson (1956 - 2024)

Judith Rae Fisher, 80, of Scottsbluff, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place, and no services are scheduled at this time. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in her name to the American Heart Association.

Judy was born in Greeley, CO Aug 10, 1943, to Donald and Mary Kiser of Wheatland, WY along with her ‘older’ twin brother, John. The family of five (5) lived on what was commonly known at the time as the 83 Martin Ranch where Don worked as a foreman for the 17,000-acre spread, and Mary was the cook along with cultivating most of the garden which provided for the ranch. At the age of six (6) the family found it necessary to leave their much-loved rural roots to provide more opportunities in education for their three (3) children, and so landed in Lincoln, NE.

Initially, an old farmhouse would be home, and a one (1) room school (District 43) provided an entry into their new environment. Don would labor tirelessly at work and then spend evenings building a house, completed within a year, which the family was able to move into in 1950 at 1225 Dakota Street, Lincoln, NE. 

In high school, Judy found she excelled in many sports including soft ball and synchronized swimming. She was a lifeguard at the local pool and enjoyed flagging and driving at the drag strip. She would later spend countless hours at the 23 Club baseball field umpiring Babe Ruth youth league games. 

Judy met and married her husband, Larry, in 1962, welcoming a daughter, Shannon, in 1964 and a son, Michael, in 1966. The family of five (5) lived on what was commonly known at the time as the 83 Martin Ranch where Don worked as a foreman for the 17,000-acre spread, and Mary was the cook along with cultivating most of the garden which provided for the ranch. At the age of six (6) the family found it necessary to leave their much-loved rural roots to provide more opportunities in education for their three (3) children, and so landed in Lincoln, NE.Initially, an old farmhouse would be home, and a one (1) room school (District 43) provided an entry into their new environment. Don would labor tirelessly at work and then spend evenings building a house, completed within a year, which the family was able to move into in 1950 at 1225 Dakota Street, Lincoln, NE. In high school, Judy found she excelled in many sports including soft ball and synchronized swimming. She was a lifeguard at the local pool and enjoyed flagging and driving at the drag strip. She would later spend countless hours at the 23 Club baseball field umpiring Babe Ruth youth league games. Judy met and married her husband, Larry, in 1962, welcoming a daughter, Shannon, in 1964 and a son, Michael, in 1966. Howard L. Romick passed away peacefully Sunday, February 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Howard was born to David and Blanche (Meier) Romick December 24, 1939 at his home in Sioux County, NE. The family later moved to the Alliance, NE area. He attended the Alliance School District.&nbsp;

In 1963, Howard was drafted into the United States Army and served his country driving military trucks and training German Shepard dogs. He was honorably discharged in 1965.&nbsp;

On November 20, 1966 he was united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alliance, NE to the true love of his life, Norma Brunkhardt. To this union three children were born.&nbsp;

Howard enjoyed rodeos, horses and livestock. During his younger and single days, Howard competed in the Bulldoging event. Some of Howard's fondest memories were his children competing in 4-H horse and cattle shows. He was very proudful of winning a top Beef Rate of Gain award of putting on 4.9 pounds per day on the steer. Howard also proud fully boasted of the 4-H Horse Show that all three of his children competed in and brought home all championship trophies in all events except for one. Howard's horses were always groomed to the hilt. He was once told his show horses were "spit shined and carried on a cloud".&nbsp;

Although these were some of Howard's most treasured memories, his greatest pride of his life was the deep love he shared with his wife of 57 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandson. They were all the "jewels in his crown".&nbsp;

Howard is survived by his wife Norma, his children Lora (John) Herian, Amy Nielson, and Chris (Leslie) Romick. Survivors also include grandchildren Rhett Herian and fiancée Kelsea Storkel, Jakob (Adriana) Herian, Caleb Nielson and fiancée Shelby Grimes, Kristen Romick and fiancée Dayde Belknap, Bret (Rylee) Schwaderer and great grandson Asher Herian. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis Henkel along with a host of several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters, son-in-law John Nielson and granddaughter Kimber Romick.&nbsp;

Memorial services will be Friday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alliance, NE with Reverend Richard Mueller officiating. Burial will be at the Alliance Cemetery with military honors.

Richard Henry Keller, aged 77, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born on August 15, 1946, in Alliance, Nebraska to Lloyd and Edith (Neff) Keller. Richard was raised on their ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska. He graduated from Garden County High School in 1964.

Richard's life was marked by service and dedication. He joined the U.S. Army on May 12, 1970, and was qualified for Special Forces. Serving in Vietnam as a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, he demonstrated courage and commitment. Transferring to the U.S. Army Reserve on December 22, 1971, he continued to honorably serve until his discharge on May 11, 1976.

Following his military service, Richard went on to study engineering at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 and embarked on a successful career as a draftsman and estimating engineer. He contributed his talents to Chief Industries in Grand Island, NE, and Lockheed Martin/Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge, TN.

Richard is survived by his three daughters, Trudy (Chris) Whitson of Louisville, TN, Tiffany (Jeff) Adkins of Middleburg, FL, Teresa (Matt) Holmes of McDonough, GA, and his eight grandchildren Clayton, Ryan, Evan, Elise, Dylan, Nicholas, Gregory, and Jamison. He is also survived by his brother, Arnold (Jeanette) Keller, several cousins, and his nephew Patrick Keller. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Keller, his mother, Edith Keller, and his nephew, Jeffrey Keller.

A man of resilience and strength, Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Graveside services will be held at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska, on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Richard Henry Keller (1946 - 2024)

Scott R. Bates, a loving father, proud grandfather, and respected member of the Alliance community, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home.&nbsp; He was 73 years old.

Scott was born on October 11, 1950, to George E. and Berniece (Coleman) Bates in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; The family moved to Hemingford in 1951 where he spent his elementary school years.&nbsp; His family would later move to Alliance in 1961, where he graduated from Alliance High School in 1969.&nbsp; Following graduation, Scott enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War as a weapons mechanic.&nbsp; His service included a one year tour of duty in Vietnam and he was honorably discharged on December 14, 1973.&nbsp; He was proud to be a veteran and was extremely honored to receive the Quilt of Valor on July 4, 2022.

On June 20, 1970 he married Linda C. Nuss in Alliance and to this union his two children, Eric and Shay were born.

Following his military discharge, Scott returned to Alliance and attended college in Scottsbluff before attending and graduating from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1977.&nbsp; He then returned to Alliance and began his career alongside his father at Bates-Landa Funeral Home.&nbsp; He was dedicated to providing compassionate care to grieving families during their most difficult times and spent over 40 years doing so.

Outside of work, Scott had a passion for cars, frequently trading and enjoying a new car.&nbsp; He held a private pilot’s license, had a love of aviation and found solace in flying.&nbsp; He enjoyed riding motorcycles and cherished moments spent camping and boating at the lake with his family or attending his grandchildren’s activities.&nbsp; He took immense pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, the Eagles Club, and the National and Nebraska Funeral Director’s Associations.

He is survived by his children and their families, Eric and Beth Bates of Alliance and their children, Brooke (Evan), Ethan and Luke,&nbsp; and Shay and Gerald Armstrong of Lincoln and their children, Aden, Anna, Lilli and Nora; and his children’s mother, Linda Bates of Alliance.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brother, David Bates of Yuba City, CA; his sister, Georgia (Jon) Lauterbach of Tampa, FL; his niece, two nephews, and many extended family members and friends.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Judy Bates.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.&nbsp; Mother Kim Culp and Father Bryan Ernest will officiate.&nbsp; Burial with military honors will be in the Alliance Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family being present to greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Gary L. Hashman of Alliance peacefully passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD with family by his side.&nbsp; His passing follows an over four-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He was born on August 15, 1938, in Alliance, NE to Frank and Pearl (Bacon) Hashman.&nbsp; On April 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Sharon J. Henkel at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alliance.

Gary served in the U.S. Army from February 14, 1961, and was honorably discharged on February 13, 1963. He then returned to Alliance and worked for Alliance Consumers Cooperative and Western Potato before he began farming in 1975. During his farming career he received four Top 10 Beet Grower Awards from Western Sugar Company. He was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church serving on the Board of Trustees, Stewardship Committee and as an usher.&nbsp; He also served on the Board of Directors for Westco Inc. from 1989 to 1997 and served as vice-chairman from 1992 to 1996.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon his children, Gail Hystad of Colorado Springs, CO, Dena (Mike) Wnorowski of Bayfield, CO and Andy Hashman of Longmont, CO.&nbsp; He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon Hystad, Ariel Curtis, Eli Monyek, Faith Hystad and Ruby Hashman and his nephews, Steve Stone, Dave Stone and Tom Hashman.&nbsp; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Nuss, his brother, Wayne Hashman, and his nephew, Ron Hashman.

Memorial services will be Saturday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Richard C. Kimberly Rubottom, 45, a beloved wife, daughter, and sister, passed away on February 7, 2024. At her request, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on February 17 at 11:00 AM, at Calvary Memorial Church in Gering, NE with Pastor Gary Hashley officiating. 

A private service will be held, at a later date, in Ainsworth, Ne. Interment will be in Ainsworth Cemetery. Kimberly was born March 28, 1978, in Alliance, NE. She lived there and attended school through the fourth grade and then moved with her family to Scottsbluff, NE. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in May of 1996. While in high school she excelled in volleyball and track. She enrolled and attended WNCC for a year and then transferred to Chadron State College where she attended and graduated Cum Laude in 2000, with a degree in medical technology systems. She gained employment with a firm in Denver, CO where she traveled to Connecticut setting up medical technology systems. She continued working in CO and then moved back to Scottsbluff in 2016 to be closer to family. Kimberly married Troy Rubottom on July 26, 2019. They loved life and enjoyed each other’s company. They each had a love for the outdoors. They had numerous adventures in traveling, cooking, golfing, which Kim loved to drive the golf cart. She devoured sushi but detested oysters on the half shell. They loved spending time with family. At the age of three, she became a roller-skating champion earning silver medals in freestyle. She loved being small enough to go under the limbo bar so low no one could match her. Her favorite video game was Ms. Pac- Man. She was too short to reach the controller so she would get an empty 5-gallon bucket to stand on. She has always been a very determined person. As an adult, her passion for children and the less fortunate continued to grow. She always had a smile and kind words to say to those feeling downtrodden.

&nbsp;Her favorite pastimes were gardening, creating savory dishes, and working tediously on one-thousand-piece puzzles. She would always come through the garage door calling out, “Mart Mart” and “Son.” Her favorite name for Troy was “Mahnie” and he called her “Lady”. There are not enough pages to express how amazing she was. 

She is survived by her husband, Troy, her parents, Jim and Irene McDermott, her sister, Jacci Koerner (Tony), 5 nephews and 4 nieces whom she dearly loved spending time with. Kim had a strong appreciation and heartfelt love for all of her family members. She will be greatly missed and treasured in all of our hearts. 

We know we will see her again! At age 12 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. Then recently she rededicated her life to Christ.

 </figure>Kimberly Rubottom, 45, a beloved wife, daughter, and sister, passed away on February 7, 2024. At her request, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on February 17 at 11:00 AM, at Calvary Memorial Church in Gering, NE with Pastor Gary Hashley officiating. A private service will be held, at a later date, in Ainsworth, Ne. Interment will be in Ainsworth Cemetery. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Calvary Memorial Church. Kimberly was born March 28, 1978, in Alliance, NE. She lived there and attended school through the fourth grade and then moved with her family to Scottsbluff, NE. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in May of 1996. While in high school she excelled in volleyball and track. She enrolled and attended WNCC for a year and then transferred to Chadron State College where she attended and graduated Cum Laude in 2000, with a degree in medical technology systems. She gained employment with a firm in Denver, CO where she traveled to Connecticut setting up medical technology systems. She continued working in CO and then moved back to Scottsbluff in 2016 to be closer to family. Kimberly married Troy Rubottom on July 26, 2019. They loved life and enjoyed each other’s company. They each had a love for the outdoors. They had numerous adventures in traveling, cooking, golfing, which Kim loved to drive the golf cart. She devoured sushi but detested oysters on the half shell. They loved spending time with family. At the age of three, she became a roller-skating champion earning silver medals in freestyle. She loved being small enough to go under the limbo bar so low no one could match her. Her favorite video game was Ms. Pac- Man. She was too short to reach the controller so she would get an empty 5-gallon bucket to stand on. She has always been a very determined person. As an adult, her passion for children and the less fortunate continued to grow. She always had a smile and kind words to say to those feeling downtrodden. &nbsp;Her favorite pastimes were gardening, creating savory dishes, and working tediously on one-thousand-piece puzzles. She would always come through the garage door calling out, “Mart Mart” and “Son.” Her favorite name for Troy was “Mahnie” and he called her “Lady”. There are not enough pages to express how amazing she was. She is survived by her husband, Troy, her parents, Jim and Irene McDermott, her sister, Jacci Koerner (Tony), 5 nephews and 4 nieces whom she dearly loved spending time with. Kim had a strong appreciation and heartfelt love for all of her family members. She will be greatly missed and treasured in all of our hearts. We know we will see her again! At age 12 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. Then recently she rededicated her life to Christ.

&nbsp;Ruby Elaine (White) Batterman, 75, formerly of Ogallala, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at Hemingford Community Care Center in Hemingford, NE where she resided the&nbsp; last four years.

Ruby was born on December 29, 1948, in Grant Nebraska to Kenneth and Esther (Dorrow) White.&nbsp;

Ruby grew up helping her father with ranching. Ruby graduated from High School in 1967 from Lewellen, Ne. Ruby met Gary Ribble and married in 1967. From this union they had Lisa (Ribble) Anderson and Mark Ribble. The couple later divorced. Ruby met Bob Batterman and married in 1999 residing in Ogallala, NE until moving to Beatrice Care Center in 2018. After the passing of her husband, Bob, Ruby moved to Hemingford to be closer to family in 2020. Ruby was well known in Ogallala; working for Dairy Queen, Ogallala Hospital, Hokes Café, Pump-n-Pantry, Union 76, Castles and Shopko. Ruby loved to serve the public. She met many people from different walks of life and enjoyed helping others.&nbsp; Ruby loved to garden. She enjoyed cooking and canning. Ruby also loved to watch football, especially the Huskers. She would be cheering on the team for a hopeful victory.

Ruby is survived by her children: daughter Lisa (Darren) Anderson of Lewellen; son, Mark (Candace) Ribble of Alliance. Stepchildren: Debbie Batterman; Chet Batterman. Grandchildren: Michelle (Scott) Kilsdonk; Ryan (Kaitlyn) Anderson; Joel Anderson; Corry Ribble; Madison Ribble; Step grandchildren: Taressa (Samuel) Mendoza; Taiton Benham; Tevon Benham; Many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews;&nbsp;Ruby was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Esther White,&nbsp; brother Lloyd White; husband Gary Ribble; husband Bob Batterman; stepdaughter Roxanne Batterman. Ruby was well loved wherever she went, leaving many cherished memories.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 1:00 to 5 p.m. in the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15th, 2024 in the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala immediately followed by Interment in the Hollow Cemetery in Lewellen, NE, with Pastor Cliff Transmeier of the New Beginnings Church of Nazarene of Scottsbluff, NE. officiating.
