Robert (Bob) Wilferd Wehtje of Hemingford, NE, after a long and disabling illness passed away on July 13, 2022. The fourth son of a farming couple, Bob was born July 1, 1938, in the shadow of Mt. St. Helens in Toutle, a farming and logging community in western Washington. Two younger sisters were later added to complete the family of eight.

Finishing his secondary education, Bob graduated from Auburn Adventist Academy (near Seattle, WA) in 1956. That fall he and classmate Marcia Howard enrolled at Walla Walla College in eastern Washington, where Bob graduated in 1961 with a B.S. in accounting. During their college years Bob and Marcia’s friendship matured into marriage, and to them over the next several years were born Steven Robert, Ronald Mark, Renee Marcia (stillborn), Diane Laverne, and Curtis Virgil.

After graduation Bob became the farm and dairy manager for Monterey Bay Academy (MBA) in coastal Northern California. Though he did well at his work and enjoyed it, Bob hoped to farm on his own. When a fellow MBA teacher inherited the Charlie Evans homestead west of Hemingford, but did not want to leave teaching to work the farm, Bob sensed an opportunity and offered to sharecrop the property. After several years of sharecropping, then renting the farm, Bob was finally able to buy it. In his early years there, because he had a college degree and limited previous experience, Bob was sometimes called “the book farmer.” But with disciplined and intelligent work through those early years, he bought two more farm sites and rented additional farmland. He even started a small trucking company to sell his corn and hay directly to local ranchers. Beside the various crops, Bob also raised and sold cattle, taking particular pride in his herd of more than 200 red angus.

Bob began flying while in college. When he and the growing family moved to the farm, Bob brought along a Stinson 10A, a "project" plane. It was eventually re-covered with new fabric, flown a few times, and is now in a hangar at the Alliance airport. Bob got a new Cessna Skyhawk 172 in 1981, enjoyed several years flying it, often landing on the farm. His last plane was a Piper Aero, co-owned with three other local pilots. He was never happier than when flying over the area farmland, pointing out the different crops and properties he knew.

Bob was a lifelong member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He served on the local church school board and on the board of Platte Valley Academy, an SDA boarding secondary school his and Marcia’s children attended. He also served on the PREMA board for 20 years, helping to manage and steer the rural electric association.

After the children were all grown, educated and on their own, Marcia and Bob divorced and went their separate ways.&nbsp; Marcia moved to Texas, lived near son Ron and his family, and continued her teaching career. In 1999 Bob married Rose Rozmiarek, a woman with the right background for the challenging times to come: her early years with farm-life experience, and adult years with hospital and other medical care experience. They enjoyed working on the farm and ranch together, and they enjoyed travel, especially to the Black Hills. When Bob’s health unexpectedly broke, Rose was able to carry on the farm's management while also providing and coordinating his medical care. For all the help she received during these last years, Rose is deeply grateful, particularly to neighbors Sam and Jeannette Hucke and to her sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Dennis Mazanec.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, at 2:00 in the Hemingford Seventh-Day Adventist Church.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Hemingford Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.

Casper (Cap) W. Brixius of Alliance, NE passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Box Butte General Hospital.&nbsp; He passed away among family and friends with his Beloved wife Janice, son Peter and wife Colleen of Craig, Colorado, daughter Terri &amp; husband Steve Deines of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, grandchildren William(Christina)Deines, Nicole(Anthony) Sacco, Casper(Alison) Brixius and Ashleigh(Ruben) Dominguez.&nbsp;&nbsp; Cap and Janice also have 10 great grandchildren Corbin, Kenadi, Ethan, Nathan, Collin, Ruben, Isabella, Max, Asher and Cecilia.

Cap was born September 2, 1936 in Alliance, Nebraska to Peter and Sylvia Brixius.&nbsp; Cap had a brother Paul of Alliance (deceased), sister Doris of Lusk, Wyoming (deceased) and brother Jack of Alliance.&nbsp; As a boy and young man, he lived on a farm east of Alliance with his family before joining the Marine Corp in 1954 with best friend Dale Christensen.&nbsp; Casper and Dale did everything together including marrying cousins Janice Schnell and Loretta Schnell prior to boot camp at Camp Pendleton, CA.

As a very young man he learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available as long as it was honest and productive work.&nbsp;&nbsp; He rodeoed, farmed, worked as a mechanic, and did odd jobs.

Once in the Marine Corp, Cap traveled the world.&nbsp; Early in his career he was assigned duty on the U.S.S Northhampton, President Kennedy’s flagship which Cap served on for almost 2 years.&nbsp; He was then ordered on special assignment to Guantanamo during the Cuban Crisis and the Bay of Pigs.&nbsp; His remaining oversea orders centered around 3 – 13 month assignments supporting the war in South Viet Nam.&nbsp; Cap found himself atop the U.S Embassy in Saigon during his 3rd tour-of-duty supporting the evacuation of South Viet Nam.&nbsp; Prior to his 3rd Tour, he was promoted to 1st Sergeant, overseeing a Company of Marines.&nbsp;&nbsp; After 21 years in the Corp, he made the decision to retire from the U.S. Marine Corp despite the fact that his name had been submitted for promotion to Sergeant Major.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

After retirement from the Marine Corp in 1975, Cap began several ventures which included farming and development of a crop insurance business, which he established in Alliance with his daughter Terri.&nbsp; Brixius Crop Insurance thrived for many years as Cap’s pension for honesty and integrity was his primary marketing tactic throughout his life.&nbsp; The business was sold in 2007 as Cap planned his retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Concurrent with his farming and insurance ventures, Cap was elected to serve as a Box Butte County Commissioner, a position he held for 21 years in Box Butte County.&nbsp; Cap served 5 full terms as Commissioner, and many years as the Board of County Commissioner Chair.&nbsp; In this role, he was again remembered for his honesty and integrity while serving on the Box Butte BOCC.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Cap and Janice lived together almost inseparable for over 66 years.&nbsp;&nbsp; There love and generosity became an irresistible attraction for many friends and family as they shared their joy and optimism for life.&nbsp;

Casper “CAP” will be missed.&nbsp; He was loved and respected by his family and friends and all who knew him and shared in his frank and honest way of living.&nbsp;

He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather and “great-grand” father.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alliance, NE with Reverend Richard C. Mueller officiating. Burial will at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery east of Alliance near the airport. Following the interment A Celebration-of-Life will be at the West Side Event Center. Visitation will be Sunday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. and conclude with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.

Memorials can be offered on behalf of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Veterans State Cemetery at Alliance Foundation and the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School.&nbsp;

Casper (Cap) W. Brixius (1936 - 2022)

Loyola Maria Candelario-Rivera-Warfield-Kuhlman passed away at&nbsp; home on July 11, 2022 as she had always prayed for, at the age of 90 at E29 Meadows Court Alliance, Ne. She was born at Rancho de Taos, New Mexico and raised in the Black Lake, New Mexico area.

Loyola was born on April 20, 1932 and raised by her grandparents, Jaun and Rafaelita Candelario, who she called mama and papa.&nbsp; Her birth parents were Enrique and Maria "Annie" (Candelario) Rivera.

Loyola was married to Chester Warfield for 33 years before they divorced, of that union they they had ten children together. She stated that was the greatest achievement of her life. As with her children she learned what true love was. Chester brought one son from a previous marriage.

In 1982 Loyola and Larry married, and Larry had one daughter to add to the family. That made twelve children total, for our mother to raise. She loved each and every one of us equally. Loyola and Larry got married in a Catholic wedding on 6/23/2009. She was such a devout Catholic, so that made her marriage extra special, to the Love of her life.

Mother was always striving to improve her life. At the age of 52 she studied and received her GED.&nbsp; It was a proud moment for her.&nbsp; Loyola was a stay at home mother most of her life raising 12 children during that time. Later in life she and her husband Larry owned and operated Alliance Bakery for several years. After Larry passed away (Feb. 2010) mother took a job at BNSF railroad, she always loved to stay busy to help ease the pain of losing Larry.&nbsp; Mom started having health issues that forced her to retire, but she never really retired, she was always trying to help any and everyone.

Mother enjoyed and done many things in her life. One was crocheting; she made many things with this art. She had the uncanny ability to look at something or an object and crochet it into shape.&nbsp; She made many beautiful doilies, angels, stars, balls and objects of clothing. She was very accomplished artist.

Loyola and Larry traveled all over the USA by motorcycle, she seen many places of beauty and places she had never seen before. One of her favorite places to go was the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally over many years. She loved camping and people watching and made many biker friends.&nbsp; She loved to read scripture and prayed the Rosary many times day and night, praying for many people.&nbsp; She also enjoyed dancing with Larry and just being with him. But the thing Mother loved most of all, was visiting and being visited by all of her family!!

Mother was a kind, thoughtful and loving person, if a person was in need she was there to help in any way she could.&nbsp; During her lifetime she helped several people to the end of their life, including Larry and his mother, Irene. She was a wonderful cook and baker and she was always ready to make you something to eat. Her latest specialty was Indian Tacos, which she would make for guests, up until the last year of her life.&nbsp; She visited some of her children that live in Texas, Alaska, Nebraska and Colorado several times in her life. She went on a 75th birthday Hawaiian cruise with her one and only daughter, Jackie. And on her recent 90th Birthday she went on a motorcycle ride, with her son Rodney.

Mother lived a full and Blessed Life, and we all will always have wonderful memories that were made with our mother, Loyola. God Bless You all.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Chester and her second husband Larry, her son Billy Warfield and three grandchildren, Shawn Warfield, Shannon Warfield-McGannon and Josh Warfield; two great-grandchildren, Xavier Arreola and Prince Encinia. Two brothers, Tom and Ben Rivera and sister Mary Romero; her parents, grandparents, and a few great-grandchildren and several other family members.

Survivors include her children Alpha/Sheila Warfield, Anchorage, AK, Jerry Warfield, Crawford, NE, Robert Warfield, Terrytown, NE, Anthony Warfield, Longmont, CO, Rodney Warfield, Gering, NE, Mark/LaPriel Warfield, Anchorage, AK, Brad/Leanay Warfield. Alliance, NE, Jackie/Mike Crouch, Ft.Worth, TX, Kelly Warfield, Sioux Falls, SD, Donald Warfield-McCook, NE, Tammy Kuhlman/Anthony. 40 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. &nbsp;She is also survived by her brother John Rivera/Carolyn Yeamon, her sisters, Helen Weber, Irene/Richard Paiz,LaVelle Rivera and Patsy/Jesse Martinez, all of Cheyenne, WY.&nbsp;

Visitation and viewing starting at 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. will be held on Monday July 18th, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 916 Cheyenne Ave. Alliance, NE 69301.&nbsp; A reception will be in the church hall immediately after the Rosary.

The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 19th at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Immediately following the Mass there will be a procession to West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, Ne., 200491 Old Oregon Trail Road with a reception at the VFW Post 2710 10th Street, Gering, NE 69341, immediately following the burial.&nbsp; Please dress in casual wear – Mom’s favorite color was purple.

Loyola Maria Candelario-Rivera-Warfield-Kuhlman (1932 - 2022)

Eleanor Frances Phillips, 91, passed away July 13, 2022 at her home west of Hemingford.

She was born January 4, 1931 to Adolph F. and Emma (Kubas) Ficek in Dickenson, ND.&nbsp; She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Dickenson.&nbsp; In the summer of 1952 she met a handsome custom harvester from Hemingford, Nebraska, Lorence Phillips.&nbsp; After a 5 year long distance courtship the couple was married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickenson on June 25, 1957.&nbsp; The couple recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.&nbsp; Together they worked side by side to build their dream.&nbsp; They have one daughter, Peggy Ann who was born May 14, 1959.

Eleanor will be remembered as a kind, gentle, prayerful, hardworking farm wife who always put her family first.&nbsp; Her grandkids all remember when they were young spending a week in the summer at the farm where they enjoyed grandma’s cooking, baking, playing games and lots of love.&nbsp;

Eleanor enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious 4th of July brownies, Hershey bar pie and honey cut out cookies.&nbsp; She also enjoyed embroidery, gardening, canning, ceramics and taking care of her flower beds.&nbsp; Purple iris were her favorite.&nbsp; She was a 65 year member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and St. Bridget’s Altar Society.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband, Lorence, brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Carina Ficek of Dickenson, ND, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arlee and Betty Phillips of rural Hemingford, daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Terry Jensen of Alliance, grandchildren, Scott Barber of Ardmore, OK, Michelle and Kurt Garrett of Alliance, Hope and Mason Nicklaus of Amarillo, TX, her great-grandchildren, Kayla Barber, Scott Barber, Jr., Aubry Garrett and Fianceé James Larson, Austin Garrett, Nash Nicklaus, Maley Nicklaus and her special cat, Freckles.

A Rosary service will be Friday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church.&nbsp; Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.&nbsp;

Ralph Dean Merwin, 82, of Alliance, Nebraska, precious Dad and Grampy, found his way Home Sunday night July 10. After deeply grieving his dearly loved wife the past 3 ½ months, he is now reunited with her.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be Friday morning prior to service time.&nbsp; Online condolences may be left at www.batesgould.com.

Ralph was born September 14, 1939 to Fern (Rasmussen) and Francis Merwin in Oral, South Dakota. He spent his early years on the homestead and then other farms in the community before his family moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota in 1957. He attended a country school before then finishing his schooling in Hot Springs, graduating in 1958.

Following graduation, he worked on the Cobb ranch near Hermosa, South Dakota for 12 years. In the fall of 1969, Ralph first met Leila Mae Reece in a Sunday morning church meeting in North Platte, Nebraska. He loved to tell the story of how his sister Rose had told him about Leila. He didn’t know Leila would be at the meeting, but when he walked in and saw her, he said his heart told him that had to be Leila and that she was the one. Their relationship blossomed and they were joined in marriage March 8, 1971. They lived in North Platte for a while and then near Paxton where they worked on a ranch. While living in Paxton, their daughter, Lanae, was born on November 5, 1976. For a short time, they lived closer to North Platte again before moving to Valentine, Nebraska in 1981 where Ralph worked for the Nebraska Game and Parks. Son Larry was born in Valentine on November 28, 1982.

In December 1988, Ralph and Leila moved their family to Alliance, where they made their home since. He worked for John Deere Implement, later 21st Century Equipment, until his retirement in 2003. He then operated Ralph’s Mower Repair until his heart attack in 2008 and subsequent health challenges. He had a love and gift for doing mechanical work and fixing small motor equipment.

An amazing thing about Ralph was his excellent memory; he could be counted on to remember dates and recount details with precise clarity. Ralph was a quietly good, conscientious, and tender-hearted man, who did his best for his family and was deeply devoted to his wife. He and Leila were as one and their solid-gold bond of belovedness has left a forever imprint on the hearts of all who knew and loved them.

Ralph maintained a thankful spirit and a steadfast dedication to his faith. He made his choice to follow Jesus September 9, 1951 and loved the Lord to the very end with the peace of a perfect trust.

Ralph is survived by his children, Lanae Hall of Hastings, Nebraska, and Larry (Natalie) of Gering, Nebraska; grandchildren, Adair, Baylen, Shiloh, and Mikol (Lanae), and Ethan and Charlotte (Larry); sisters, Nancy Snow of Rapid City, South Dakota, Frances Ann Rolf of Huntsville, Alabama, and Rose (George) Medich of North Platte, Nebraska; brothers, Albert of Rapid City, Alfred (Elaine) of Hot Springs, and Richard (Donna) of Rapid City; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Dwain (Dewey) Reece of Sac City, Iowa, who was a faithful friend and support to Ralph especially following his bereavement, calling him almost nightly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis (January, 1981) and Fern (November, 2004), and his wife Leila (March, 2022), as well as a brother, Ray (2007).

May his memory be a blessing. Love remains.

Matthew Scott Baldwin, 32, passed away unexpectedly July 4, 2022 in Denver, Colorado.

He was born November 16, 1989 in Sidney, NE to Melvin and Ann (Pankowski) Baldwin.

He is survived by his parents, Melvin and Ann, his son, Samuel, his sisters and brother, Kelsey (Nathan) Rasmussen of Alliance, Taylor Baldwin of Denver and Jacob Baldwin of Alliance.&nbsp; He is also survived by his grandparents, Rod Baldwin and Edna Baldwin of Kimball, his nieces, Brylee, Jamisyn and Karsyn Rasmussen, his aunts, Kim Miller, Toni Pankowski, Becky(Cody)Cyr,&nbsp; Sonia Baldwin, Tonia Copeland, his uncles, Doug (Cathie) Pankowsi, John (Donelle) Pankowski,and numerous cousins.&nbsp; His grandparents, Irene and Joe Pankowski preceded him in death.&nbsp;

Matthew Scott Baldwin (1989 - 2022)

Margaret Ann “Peggy" Moeller was born February 11,1951 in Alliance, Nebraska to Frank Bernard Moeller and Betty Ann Miller Hansen. She went to walk with Jesus on July 5, 2022.

Peggy was raised on the family farm northeast of Hemingford. She loved farm life and her years in 4-H. She has one sister Janice (Richard) McLain, of Keller, TX and two brothers Greg (Sharol) Moeller of Holdrege, NE and Gary (Sue) Moeller of Alliance and brother-in-law Don (Julie) Sheldon of Alliance and sister-in-law Susan (Dale) Householder of Hill City, SD.

Peggy was married to Dann E. Reynolds on January 5, 1971 in Hemingford, NE. To that union were born one son, Ryan Leroy Reynolds and two daughters, Danielle Renee Lehl and Desiree Kae Reynolds. Peggy was married to Eugene F. Sheldon on August 24, 1999 in Las Vegas, NV. She was blessed with the addition of three children to her life: Christine (Jim) Karell, Marshall Sheldon and Jennifer (Alex) Dumlao. Peggy was baptized at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and again in 1994 at the Alliance Berean Church, where she remains a member. Peggy gave her life to Jesus and He walked with her always, giving her life joy and peace. Peggy worked as an accountant in Denver from 1971 until they moved home in 1974 where she worked alongside her husband running their farm. In 1978, she and her mother opened the Ceramic Boutique in Hemingford, serving many clients until 1990. Peggy opened the A+ tax shop next door to the ceramic shop in 1980. She served many treasured clients through generations with the help of many loyal employees. Peggy considered it a privilege to serve her hometown of Hemingford for 25 years as Administrator-Clerk Treasurer. She was blessed to be a part of many organizations and honored to serve alongside many wonderful people on numerous boards and committees. She worked among many city employees and board members, forming lifelong friendships. The mission committee at the Berean Church was a true joy. Peggy served in local mission work, as well as missions in Spain, Zambia and several trips to Honduras, which added many loved ones to her list. She was very blessed by the friends she served with. She also served alongside her husband Gene, her daughter Desiree and granddaughter Aubrey. After her stroke, she continued to support missions and kept in touch with the missionaries.

Her greatest accomplishments were her grandchildren: Gaige Lehl, Jacob Jurgens Lehl; Aubrey Ann, Xavier Allen and Jacob Lee Picket Pin; Benjamin Daniel and Mia Shea Reynolds, Haden James and Katrina Jade Karell; Vincent Marshall Sheldon, and Milo Daniel Sheldon Dumlao, great grandchildren Nikaylee Renee, Amari Ann and Jesse Dubray. She had numerous “grandchildren” and “great grandchildren” from her mission family in Honduras.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Sheldon, daughter Danielle Lehl, grandparents Carl and Jessie Hansen, Edward Miller, Frank J. and Minnie Moeller, her father Frank Moeller and mother Betty Ann Moeller. sister-in-law Helen Nikont and brother-in-law Theron Nikont. Father-in-law Raymond&nbsp;Sheldon and mother-in-law Agnes Sheldon, special uncle Joe Moeller, uncles Paul Hansen, Lloyd Knaub, and Gordon Delabarre, and her very dear friend Margarite Bremer.

Although Peggy left many here that were precious to her, she was excited about being reunited with many who had left before her. Funeral services will be July 22 at 11am at the Alliance Berean Church. Lunch to follow, then interment at 1:30pm at the Hemingford Cemetery.

Margaret Ann 'Peggy' Moeller (1951-2022)

Ronald K. Daharsh went to be with his Savior from his home on the ranch on June 29, 2022 at the age of 79.

He was born May 26, 1943 in Kiowa, Colorado to Chancy and Rose Marie (Keep) Daharsh,&nbsp;living in Elbert, Colorado, he grew up on the family dairy farm until taking on beef cattle&nbsp;in 1969. In 2000, the family moved to Angora, Nebraska, expanding the ranch operation.

He was known for his smart and creative mind, rebuilding almost every piece of equipment he ever used. He loved his life outdoors with the cattle, horses, dogs and running his Lundell hay cuber.&nbsp; He and his son worked the ranch his entire life. He loved a good story, and his wife's home cooking, especially during the garden and fruit tree harvests. He also loved teaching his children and grandchildren the importance of a strong work ethic, the value of being a thoughtful steward of money and resources (he was a master at repurposing items), to ride horses, love country life, and be critical thinkers with a strong moral compass. He was a man of faith, serving as a deacon and elder in the Elbert (Colorado) and Alliance (Nebraska) Christian Churches.

He is survived by his wife Gale of 58 years; daughter Kristene Fisher (Roger); daughter Darlene Soderquist, grandchildren Erik and Abby; son Howard (Jill), grandchildren Dorothy and Keith; sister Susan Spear, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Alliance Evangelical Free Church, 611 Cody Avenue, Alliance, Nebraska with luncheon to follow. Bring a good story or a side dish, and the family hopes to see you there!

In 1998 they moved to North Platte, NE before relocating and retiring in Lodgepole, NE in 2004. Barbara was a member of the Gloria Dei Church. Her most favorite pastimes were spending time at Lake McConaughey, tending to her beautiful flower gardens and roses, going to sport activities of her grandkids, and spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harry LeRoy Ylander, 93, of Alliance, formerly of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Skyview Care and Rehab at Bridgeport, Nebraska.

He was born May 25, 1927 in Beattie, Kansas to Edmond J. Ylander and Ellen L. (Samuelson) Ylander.

He graduated from Frankfort High School, Frankfort, Kansas and served in the United states Coast Guard during World War II.&nbsp; He was honorably discharged, returning to Kansas to attend Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; Shortly after graduation, he was called back to serve as an officer in the Coast Guard during the Korean War.

He was married to Mary Ann Martin on June 18, 1950.&nbsp; Their loving marriage endured for 70 years.&nbsp; He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

Harry worked in the accounting field including at Gold’s Department Store, Lincoln, J. L. Brandeis and Sons, Omaha and concluded his career as Vice-President Treasurer of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Harry was actively involved in Boy Scouts serving as a scoutmaster and lodge advisor for the Order-of-the-Arrow while in Omaha.&nbsp; He was the recipient of many recognitions including the Vigil Honor, the Lamb Award and the Silver Beaver Award.

Harry is survived by his wife Ann, son Dr. David (Kathy) Ylander of Alliance and daughter C. Anne (Chuck) Leudders of Black Hawk, Colorado, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lucille Engwall and brother Ferril Ylander.

Norma Jean Jensen, 86, passed away on July 1, 2022 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Norma was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Max and LeNeive "Lonnie" Wright where she was the oldest of six children.&nbsp; She graduated from Alliance High School before attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she graduated with a law degree, one of only a handful of women who obtained that honor at that time.&nbsp; That same year she married the love of her life, Jesper P. Jensen.&nbsp; The couple made their home on the family farm outside of Hemingford, Nebraska where they lived for many years until moving to Alliance, Nebraska when Jess retired.&nbsp; Norma and Jess were active over the years in various churches with a special focus on assisting youth in the community.&nbsp; She enjoyed music immensely and you could often find her with her guitar in hand singing and playing at church or during Bible services she conducted at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.&nbsp; In her later years Norma went back to being a practicing attorney.&nbsp; She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jess, son Thomas A. Jensen, grandson Luke J. Jensen, and brothers Tom, Max, and Bob Wright.&nbsp; Survivors include her daughter Lisa (Todd) Culp of Omaha, Nebraska, grandsons Zachary and Gabriel Culp of Omaha, her daughter-in-law Denise Jensen and granddaughter Ashli Jensen both of Hemingford, and siblings Judy (Tom) Shield of Kearney and Frank (Mary) Wright of Kearney and a number of nieces and nephews.

Sally Dahlberg, 67, passed away in her home on July 3, 2022 with her family by her side.

Sally Jo Mullin was born August 15, 1954 to Roger and Alice (Kossow) Mullin in Hibbing, MN. She joined her sister, Deborah and later younger brother Patrick.

When Sally was 14, she met an ornery young man named Timothy Dahlberg. She soon found that she couldn’t resist his infectious personality and they were united in marriage on December 4,&nbsp;1971 in Park Rapids, MN. They welcomed a daughter, Jenni, and a son, John to compete their family. They enjoyed adventures, traveling, camping, and time spent with family. Sally loved raising her family and supporting her husband, Tim in his carpentry profession.&nbsp; Her door was always open to her kids’ friends and she became a second mom to many of them. She loved baking and crafting delicious meals and trying new recipes. Sally enjoyed trips to the cabin with her sister while they talked and read books in the quiet. Her home was always welcoming to friends, family and especially to her grandchildren.&nbsp; Her special talent was bringing peace to everyone she encountered, a truly kindred spirit.

Sally is loved and survived by her husband, Tim, daughter Jenni (Jeremy), son John (Brandy), grandchildren Parker, Charlie, Laney, Miranda, Grace and Adalynn, sister Deborah (Len), brother Patrick (Sonja), numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. Sally was well loved during her life and will be greatly missed.

Jana Jeary Osborn, 62, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.

Jana Lynn Jeary was born August 13, 1959 in Alliance, Nebraska, the fourth of five children of Edward B. "Ted" and Sharon (Henderson) Jeary.&nbsp; She grew up on the family ranch, north of Hyannis, adopting every kangaroo mouse and baby rabbit she found and enjoying the family’s pet skunk and raccoons. She attended Red Mill rural elementary school and graduated from Hyannis High School in 1977.&nbsp; She learned to sew in 4-H and was especially proud of the prom dresses she made, modeled, and recently rediscovered.&nbsp; She attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, and then graduated from Kearney State College in 1982.&nbsp; Her work life included jobs in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, before returning to Alliance, working at Box Butte Development Corporation, Coordinator of TeamMates Mentoring Program, Masonic Temple, and Carhenge. She was gratified by the 20+ years she served on the board of the Western Nebraska Resources Council.

When Tessa and Taylor were growing up, she enjoyed attending all of their school and sporting activities.&nbsp; She was a big Husker fan and enjoyed anything related to Southwestern or Native American culture.&nbsp; In recent years, she relocated to Mesa, AZ, and enjoyed playing cards and eating out with the many great friends she made at Fountain of the Sun.&nbsp; When she couldn’t golf herself, she enjoyed riding in the golf cart watching Tessa, Quinton, and Taylor golf.&nbsp; When her health failed, she never gave up looking for treatments and keeping a positive attitude. In the past 3 months, she was able to spend time with her new grandson Macaulay, who brought her an abundance of joy and laughter.

She enjoyed being involved with her church family both in Alliance, NE and Mesa, AZ. Her faith, determination, and strength in Jesus were what kept her going through every obstacle that was thrown her way.

She is survived by her daughter, Tessa (Quinton) Walker and grandson Macaulay Walker of Alliance, her son, Taylor Benson of Sidney; her father, Ted Jeary of Blair; her husband, Matt Osborn of Alliance; siblings, Joyce Dohse of Scottsbluff, Jean Parker of Gordon, Joan Pruitt of Wichita Falls, TX, and Clark Jeary of Hyannis; nieces and nephews, Cody (Sarah) Pruitt, Dani Pruitt, and Skylar Dohse; her mother-in-law, Lois Osborn; and sister-in-law, Sethyne Gavin.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father Sharon and Dick Peters, step-mother Shelia Jeary, brother-in-law Howard Parker, grandparents Rosella (Grouns) and Floyd Henderson and Mary (Minor) and Clark Jeary; and her father-in-law, Dean Osborn.

"Ted" and Sharon (Henderson) Jeary.&nbsp; She grew up on the family ranch, north of Hyannis, adopting every kangaroo mouse and baby rabbit she found and enjoying the family’s pet skunk and raccoons. She attended Red Mill rural elementary school and graduated from Hyannis High School in 1977.&nbsp; She learned to sew in 4-H and was especially proud of the prom dresses she made, modeled, and recently rediscovered.&nbsp; She attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, and then graduated from Kearney State College in 1982.&nbsp; Her work life included jobs in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, before returning to Alliance, working at Box Butte Development Corporation, Coordinator of TeamMates Mentoring Program, Masonic Temple, and Carhenge. She was gratified by the 20+ years she served on the board of the Western Nebraska Resources Council.When Tessa and Taylor were growing up, she enjoyed attending all of their school and sporting activities.&nbsp; She was a big Husker fan and enjoyed anything related to Southwestern or Native American culture.&nbsp; In recent years, she relocated to Mesa, AZ, and enjoyed playing cards and eating out with the many great friends she made at Fountain of the Sun.&nbsp; When she couldn’t golf herself, she enjoyed riding in the golf cart watching Tessa, Quinton, and Taylor golf.&nbsp; When her health failed, she never gave up looking for treatments and keeping a positive attitude. In the past 3 months, she was able to spend time with her new grandson Macaulay, who brought her an abundance of joy and laughter.She enjoyed being involved with her church family both in Alliance, NE and Mesa, AZ. Her faith, determination, and strength in Jesus were what kept her going through every obstacle that was thrown her way.She is survived by her daughter, Tessa (Quinton) Walker and grandson Macaulay Walker of Alliance, her son, Taylor Benson of Sidney; her father, Ted Jeary of Blair; her husband, Matt Osborn of Alliance; siblings, Joyce Dohse of Scottsbluff, Jean Parker of Gordon, Joan Pruitt of Wichita Falls, TX, and Clark Jeary of Hyannis; nieces and nephews, Cody (Sarah) Pruitt, Dani Pruitt, and Skylar Dohse; her mother-in-law, Lois Osborn; and sister-in-law, Sethyne Gavin.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father Sharon and Dick Peters, step-mother Shelia Jeary, brother-in-law Howard Parker, grandparents Rosella (Grouns) and Floyd Henderson and Mary (Minor) and Clark Jeary; and her father-in-law, Dean Osborn.

Michael G. Cox, 69, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 in Alliance.

He was born September 14, 1952 in Alliance to William and Murna (Judevine) Cox.&nbsp; During his childhood he found he had a love for the outdoors, with special interest in hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mike graduated from Alliance High School in 1971 and began his career with the railroad as a laborer. In 1976 he was carded as a Machinist, where he continued that job until he retired in 2012.

On October 22, 1983 he was united in marriage to Leta Krueger in Longmont, Colorado.

Mike loved his family more than anything and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was absolutely overjoyed when his grandson was born; as a Father and Grandfather of only girls, he was completely outnumbered most of the time. Let it be known that it didn’t stop him from imparting his “fatherly wisdom” at every open opportunity.

After retiring from the Railroad in 2012, he decided he wasn’t quite ready to leave the workforce behind and turned one of his favorite hobbies into a part time job at Bomgaars as “the assembly guy”. He truly enjoyed working with everyone there.

Riding his Honda, road-tripping with friends, and singing karaoke were some of his favorite past times. He was a very active member of the Alliance Archery Club for many years and thoroughly enjoyed teaching people, especially the youth, about hunter safety and bow hunter education.

He was an avid reader as well; you could most certainly find him sitting at the kitchen table reading a Sci-Fi book on his kindle.&nbsp;

He was a founding member of the Alliance Archery Club, and a member of the Eagles Club, N.R.A., IAM (International Association of Mechanists and Aerospace Workers) and ABATE.

He is survived by his wife, Leta, his children, Michelle Serl (Byron Allen) of Scottsbluff, Brandie (Adam) Smith of Kersey, CO, Heather Cox (Chris Eggink), Tirah Cox (Derek WarBonnet) and Monica Cox (Logan Benzel) of Alliance and his grandchildren, Dustie Bond, Codie Bond, Taryn Erickson, Sophie Allen, Natily WarBonnet, Tyler WarBonnet and Maylie Benzel.&nbsp; He is also survived by siblings, Cathy (Art) Thomsen and Frank (Lupe) Cox of Alliance, Beverly (Mick) Meszaros and William Broderick of Longmont, CO, his brother-in-law Butch Kiger of Minden, NE, numerous nieces and nephews, specifically his niece Tami Swearingen, whom he shared a special bond with. She made the last few months of his life very memorable for him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Charles Cox, Virginia Adkins, Patricia Kiger and William Cox.

Allison Gayle (Lacey) McGuffey went home with her beautiful baby to Jesus Christ on June 25, 2022.

Allison, or Alli, as many affectionately called her, was born in her beloved Scottsbluff, Nebraska on July 25, 1989 to Dr. Kent and Gayle Lacey. She shared a deep and loving relationship with her older sister, Lauren and younger brother, Grant. From the beginning, Alli was special, cheering for the underdog and loving others in a way few people do. As a young girl, Alli prayed to receive Jesus as her savior and grew in her relationship with him through bedtime prayers and Bible stories, Sunday school, AWANA, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Sport Camps. As Alli grew into a tall, blonde, beautiful, and intelligent teenager, she became a force to be reckoned with. She excelled in academics, sports and other activities at Scottsbluff High School. Alli set the Nebraska high school state record for aces in a single volleyball match, and made valuable contributions to her district champion basketball and state champion track and field teams. Alli maintained a 4.0 GPA while in high school, and graduated with honors from Scottsbluff High School in 2007.

After high school, Alli attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma on a volleyball scholarship. After two years of making many friends and playing volleyball, Alli chose to transfer to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), pledged Delta Gamma, and graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2012. During her senior of college Alli was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a disease that would trouble her for the remainder of her life, and alter many of her lifelong plans and dreams.

Upon graduation from UNL, Alli moved to Denver, Colorado and studied at Colorado Christian University, pursuing a master’s degree of Psychology. While in Denver she took a job at Spire, a residential condominium property in Downtown Denver. She excelled at the job, eventually being promoted to head accountant for the building. However, Spire was more than a just a residence or a place of employment for Alli. In typical “Alli fashion” she quickly made many friends and one special friend in particular, Mr. Ryan McGuffey, who she married in July of 2020. Ryan and Alli were a match made in heaven, true soulmates who made each other the best version of themselves. They were inseparable. Alli and Ryan were expecting their first child the 1st of February, 2023.

Alli had an authentic Christian faith, read her Bible often and prayed diligently. She loved her home state of Nebraska, cheering hard for her Huskers. Alli also loved supporting Denver and Wyoming sports teams, playing board games and solving puzzles, hiking, working out, traveling, reading, and most important to her, spending time with her family and friends. She cherished times with her nieces and nephews and they will dearly miss their Aunt Alli.

She is survived by her best friend and husband, Ryan McGuffey of Denver, Colorado, her loving parents, Dr. Kent and Gayle Lacey of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, her sister and brother-in-law, Lauren and Dr. Robert Learch, nephew, Nathan and nieces, Adelynn, Emery, and Olivia of Paducah, Kentucky, her brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Hunter Lacey of Dallas, Texas, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Janelle McGuffey of Cheyenne, Wyoming, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Corte and Laura McGuffey, niece, Cadence, nephew, Dalton of Riverton, Wyoming, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Megan and Cody Skinner, niece, Harper, nephew, Logan of Laramie, Wyoming, and a countless number friends who became family. Allison loved her aunts, uncles, and cousins, and cherished their time together.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Mitchell Berean Church, 50680 Cook Oil Rd, Mitchell, Nebraska 69357 (approximately 10 miles west of Scottsbluff, Nebraska).

&nbsp; Dr. Ernest W. Beehler, Jr., 96, of Omaha, formerly of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in Omaha after a short illness. His funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Mickey Nickless officiating. Ernest W. Beehler Jr. was born in South Bend, Indiana on December 3, 1925, to Ruth and Ernest Beehler Sr. He finished high school in South Bend and then attended Andrews University in Michigan. He married Helyne Nelson in 1948 and they had 4 children over the next 12 years. Ernest graduated from medical school at Loma Linda University in 1952 and after internship began a neurosurgery residency in Los Angeles. His training was interrupted by the Korean War, and he served in the Navy as a flight surgeon for the Marine Corp for 2.5 years. In 1960, he completed his neurosurgery residency and started a successful medical practice in suburbs of Los Angeles. In 1975 he was recruited by his brother-in-law, Dr. John Ruffing, to relocate to Scottsbluff as the first neurosurgeon in the Panhandle. He continued to practice at Regional West Medical Center for 20 years until his retirement. During his retirement years he enjoyed reading, Bible study, traveling, gardening, painting, and learning to cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ernest, and his beloved wife, Helyne Beehler.&nbsp; He is survived his sisters, Pat Ruffing (John) and Shara Adams; his children, Connie, Ernest (aka Bud) III, Robert (Myrna), and Donna (Bob) Houston; grandson Matthew (Audrey) Beehler, and 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Thea, as well as 6 nieces and 4 nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Donna (Case) Hagan Zeller, 98, passed away, Wednesday, June 22,&nbsp;2022 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, NE. It was a hot August day and Eva (Roberts) and Darriel “Red”&nbsp; Case had gone to a newly purchased ranch for a harvest with Luva (Eva’s sister) and Frank Messersmith.&nbsp; They were still living without real windows in a soddy that was on the ranch when they bought it. With four little boys, including a 3-month-old there was plenty of work for all, but Eva’s first child decided it was a great day to make her entrance into the world on August 13, 1923.&nbsp; The ladies hung the blanket on the clothes line to let the guys know it was time to get back to the house.&nbsp;

Then came the debate- which way to go- Alliance was closer but the road was much worse than the one to Antioch AND Red’s folks lived in Antioch. So Antioch won and Grandma’s midwife experience came in mighty handy but the doctor did arrive just before Donna, because he (according to Eva) couldn’t spell Donna’s middle name was Gene. It was Jean on every other record besides the birth certificate until she was graduating high school discovered the delightful truth and remained Gene for ever afterward!

Donna always believed she lived in the best possible times. She loved life and saw the beginnings of both air travel and auto travel having either didn’t stop her - her four legs took her to the Missouri market just fine until the owners, abetted by her parents, stopped thinking her visits were fun! Heat came from iron cook stoves, meltingly delicious rolls raised perfectly (usually), fast foods they weren’t, but lots of gardens made us healthy.&nbsp;

Donna loved school, read as many books as the library would let her check out, played dolls and jacks, learned to count to twelve in Swedish taught by Violet Fingal and her Dad so she could have a square of sugar, entered the doll clothes sewing contests that J.C. Penney put on every Christmas, lived for visits to the Messersmith ranch and all the good times with the seven kids riding Old Star (a large work horse who loved&nbsp; all and let seven of the kids ride him at once), played cards which the parents could see taught us arithmetic, rode the junk cart with the other kids from the block - it was a one horse job driven by Hayes Chandler&nbsp; and greatly enjoyed by both driver and passengers,

She started taking piano lessons when she was eight. After the usual reluctance to practice during her second year of lessons, she grew to love the piano and music. The year she was starting high school, Val Hill came to Alliance and the newspaper said he wanted string instrument learners as well as those who had a little experience. She went to the high school and told him she wanted to play a viola. He couldn’t believe that anyone really wanted to play the viola. So she was able to play a school instrument for all four years devoting hours to the orchestra and getting to go to Colorado Springs for the piano contest in her sophomore year. Her last accompanist experience was for the Swinging Seniors.

Her jobs were loved starting with selling hosiery at Montgomery Ward, going on to be the cashier. The war came along and after spending a few weeks in Chicago going to The Gregg Business College, she returned to Alliance and went to work for the air base hospital. She met her first husband there and they were married in August of 1943. The air force made you quit when you were 5 months pregnant. So that was the end of working until after the war. They returned to Alliance and her husband, Bob Hagen, went to work for Cover-Jones Motor Company, their first child was born in Alliance and at six months became very ill with the blood conflict with Donna’s negative blood. A miracle allowed them to take her to Children’s Hospital in Denver where they treated her symptoms because at that time no one knew for sure about the disease.&nbsp; She was to be the only child they had though there were other pregnancies.

Donna went on to work for the City Light and Water Office, the City Clerk’s office, then the ski factory for True Temper, later for attorney, Leo Bayer. Their daughter had gone to Denver and appeared to be there for life so they decided to move. Donna went to work for the city of Aurora as an accountant. It was an interesting job at an interesting time of the city’s growth. She retired in 1975 and they moved back to Alliance.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Her accounting work had led to getting a listing of Aurora’s fixed assets.&nbsp; Alliance was needing to have that done and Paul Phaneuf talked to Donna about undertaking it. She spent five years hunting through old minutes and other records but finally came up with a usable listing of the assets. That led her to deciding to run for City Council. She was elected twice, served as Mayor briefly, and enjoyed the experience

After her second retirement she was elected the Grand Marshall for Heritage Days. She said “No Miss America was ever prouder”. She loved Alliance and its people always.

In&nbsp; 2005, a 4-class reunion for Alliance High attracted a classmate who had been living in Utah during most of his working life. Bob Zeller called Donna in August of that year and a telephone courtship resulted. By December she was interested and when he suggested coming to Alliance to get better acquainted in February she said yes. He proposed on Valentine’s Day and she said yes tentatively. She wanted to get to know his 3 children better. It worked very well and they were married in June 2005.&nbsp; Bob passed away in 2012. Bob Hagen had passed away in 1993, and her daughter Diana passed away in 2016.&nbsp;

She is survived by her granddaughter, Maria Martinez Lekvin and her five children, Daniella, Brieanna, Brian, Paul, and Aiden; her step-daughter, Katherine Niessen of Minneapolis, Minnesota and her daughters, Debbie and Lynda (Bill) of Dalton, Georgia; her husband Robert Zeller’s children, Robert (LaDonna), Ronald (Barbara) and daughter, Carolyn (J.P) Mann, all of Vernal UT;&nbsp; her sister, Shirley Perez, of McCook; a number of nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;

With four little boys, including a 3-month-old there was plenty of work for all, but Eva’s first child decided it was a great day to make her entrance into the world on August 13, 1923.&nbsp; The ladies hung the blanket on the clothes line to let the guys know it was time to get back to the house.&nbsp;Then came the debate- which way to go- Alliance was closer but the road was much worse than the one to Antioch AND Red’s folks lived in Antioch. So Antioch won and Grandma’s midwife experience came in mighty handy but the doctor did arrive just before Donna, because he (according to Eva) couldn’t spell Donna’s middle name was Gene. It was Jean on every other record besides the birth certificate until she was graduating high school discovered the delightful truth and remained Gene for ever afterward!Donna always believed she lived in the best possible times. She loved life and saw the beginnings of both air travel and auto travel having either didn’t stop her - her four legs took her to the Missouri market just fine until the owners, abetted by her parents, stopped thinking her visits were fun! Heat came from iron cook stoves, meltingly delicious rolls raised perfectly (usually), fast foods they weren’t, but lots of gardens made us healthy.&nbsp;Donna loved school, read as many books as the library would let her check out, played dolls and jacks, learned to count to twelve in Swedish taught by Violet Fingal and her Dad so she could have a square of sugar, entered the doll clothes sewing contests that J.C. Penney put on every Christmas, lived for visits to the Messersmith ranch and all the good times with the seven kids riding Old Star (a large work horse who loved&nbsp; all and let seven of the kids ride him at once), played cards which the parents could see taught us arithmetic, rode the junk cart with the other kids from the block - it was a one horse job driven by Hayes Chandler&nbsp; and greatly enjoyed by both driver and passengers,She started taking piano lessons when she was eight. After the usual reluctance to practice during her second year of lessons, she grew to love the piano and music. The year she was starting high school, Val Hill came to Alliance and the newspaper said he wanted string instrument learners as well as those who had a little experience. She went to the high school and told him she wanted to play a viola. He couldn’t believe that anyone really wanted to play the viola. So she was able to play a school instrument for all four years devoting hours to the orchestra and getting to go to Colorado Springs for the piano contest in her sophomore year. Her last accompanist experience was for the Swinging Seniors.Her jobs were loved starting with selling hosiery at Montgomery Ward, going on to be the cashier. The war came along and after spending a few weeks in Chicago going to The Gregg Business College, she returned to Alliance and went to work for the air base hospital. She met her first husband there and they were married in August of 1943. The air force made you quit when you were 5 months pregnant. So that was the end of working until after the war. They returned to Alliance and her husband, Bob Hagen, went to work for Cover-Jones Motor Company, their first child was born in Alliance and at six months became very ill with the blood conflict with Donna’s negative blood. A miracle allowed them to take her to Children’s Hospital in Denver where they treated her symptoms because at that time no one knew for sure about the disease.&nbsp; She was to be the only child they had though there were other pregnancies.Donna went on to work for the City Light and Water Office, the City Clerk’s office, then the ski factory for True Temper, later for attorney, Leo Bayer. Twila Marie Winn passed away June 17, 2022 at age 64.&nbsp; She was surrounded by her family she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, George Leeling, father-in-law, Don Winn Sr., mother-in-law, Alice Winn, sisters-in-law, Diane Thompson and Debbie Pierce.

She is survived by her husband Don Winn, mother, Donita Leeling, sons Nathan (Ashley) Winn, Thomas (Lexi Wilkerson) Winn, daughter Kylee (Derek) Schuster and 5 grandchildren – Klaira, Kennedy, Aubree, Alden and Sutton. She is also survived by her sister, Muffy (Brian) Forney, and brother Doug (Susan) Leeling and many nieces and nephews.

Twila was born December 19, 1957 to George and Donita Leeling in Crawford, Nebraska. Growing up on a farm, she loved to ride her pony, Blacky, down by the creek at her grandparents’ farm.&nbsp; She had a light blue 1965 Ford Mustang which she loved to drive. She graduated from Crawford High School in 1976.

After high school, Twila chose to attend college close to home at Chadron State and remained a student there from 1976-1978.&nbsp; She realized she wanted to help people and chose to attend nursing school to receive her LPN. After receiving her LPN, she went on to become a Respiratory Therapist.&nbsp; She spent her professional career caring for others. She worked at Box Butte General as well as Aprea Healthcare. She retired in 2017 to spend time with her family and travel.

Twila met the love of her life, Don Winn, in Alliance on October 31, 1979. The two were married on May 8, 1981 and had 3 children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and pets.

Twila enjoyed gardening and on Saturday mornings, you could always find her out in her flower beds tending to them before anyone was awake. Baking, traveling and riding ATVs were some of her other hobbies.&nbsp; She enjoyed planning and hosting parties and holiday gatherings for family and friends. She frequently enjoyed swimming, taking pictures of her grandchildren and watching The Price Is Right. She talked about taking her oldest granddaughter, Klaira, to the show when she turned 18.

Ruth Katherine Reichert, 99 of Gering passed away Sunday June 19, 2022 at Heritage Estates.

Ruth was born March 4, 1923 to Edgar and Rachel Griess in Sutton, Nebraska. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School. She married Jake Reichert on September 21, 1941 in Scottsbluff. They made their home and farmed in the Gering Valley area. They spent many winters in their home in Zapata, Texas.

Ruth was a longtime member of the Gering Valley Project Club and the Scotts Bluff County Extension Club. She as a lifetime member of the Gering Zion Church where she was a very active member of the Friendship Circle. She considered family and faith the most important things in her life.

Survivors include her daughters Joan (Jim) Loose; Pat Bennett, Norma (LeRoy) Bosche and Becky (Bob) Stitt; grandchildren Rhonda (Leo) Johnston, Renee (Joe) Graves, Josh (Kayla) Loose, Jamie (John) Loose; Todd (Nikki) Bennett, Corey (Gay) Bennett, Chris Bosche, Ryan (Tanya) Bosche, April (Troy) Rosencutter, Chelsey Stitt and Jake (Megan) Stitt; great grandchildren Justin, Jacee, Derek, Delaney, Carter, Porter, Erin, Hayden, Tyler, Aubrey, Austin, Ethan, Ella, Boone and Ellis; and many nieces and nephews. &nbsp; George Jake Knaub peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Columbine West Health and Rehab Facility in Fort Collins with his wife at his side. He was 94 years old. George was a prime example of "America's Greatest Generation." His funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Andy Griess officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard, and the Gering American Legion Post #36. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff from 4-7pm. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in George’s honor be made in care of Zion Church in Scottsbluff, or Colorado Visiting Nurses Association Hospice Care. He was their first child. Shortly after his birth, his family moved back to the Scottsbluff, Nebraska area, where George and his family farmed until 1974. George loved playing softball and basketball during his high school years and beyond. He loved to reminisce about the Sunday family softball games after church. He graduated from Sunflower High School in 1946. In 1950, George was drafted into the U.S. Army and went to basic training at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas. George was a Korean Veteran, and he was very proud of his service to his country. He was honorably discharged from the U.S Army in 1953 as a Corporal. He returned home to the family farm. &nbsp;He then met and married his "sweetheart Violet" on August 9, 1953, and they happily celebrated their two-day German wedding before starting their life working the farm. They had two children to their union, Georgie and Keith, all while farming in the Minatare area. In 1974, George and Violet decided to quit farming and move their family to town in Scottsbluff. George went to work at the Nebraska Panhandle Station as a building and maintenance supervisor. However, even after retirement from this position, George continued to keep busy. He worked at A and L Insulation, driving for Napa delivering parts, and helping family and friends with driving trucks on the farm during harvest. George and Violet would never miss a good "Dutch Hop." They would be found on the dance floor having the time of their lives. He also loved to watch any game on television that included a ball or puck. He attended many softball games that Georgie and Keith played in. In 2011, George and Violet moved to Windsor, Colorado to be near their daughter and son-in-law. Even though they left behind many friends and family in the Scottsbluff area, they made many new friends with their neighbors. While in Windsor George decided that he needed to continue to work. He went to work at Walmart at 81 years of age. When he was off work, he could be found drowning worms, trying to catch "the big one that got away." For fun, he would do his own lawn mowing and then head to his daughter's home to mow her lawn too. Those lawns will never look any better, no matter who mows them. The landscaping was always pristine. Thanks Dad! In 2012, George had the opportunity to go on the Colorado Honor Flight to Washington DC. He went on the Honor Flight with his daughter and his friend Bill Loose from Scottsbluff. They had the "time of their life" visiting our nation's capital and the many U.S. Memorials. George never tired of talking about how special that trip was. He always had his Korean War Veteran hat on wherever he went. The fall of 2017, George and Violet moved in with their daughter and son-law. They helped to make a new house a home. It was so fun to have them under the same roof. However, in 2020 as George was unable to walk anymore, George and Violet moved to Columbine West Health and Rehab in Fort Collins. We would like to thank the staff at Columbine for their wonderful and loving care. The family would also like to thank Halcion Hospice for their care during George's last days. George is survived by his wife, Violet, his daughter, Georgie, and son-in-law, Ray, and Violet Mowry, sister. &nbsp; Eloisa Guzman, 79, of Scottsbluff, left us on June 20th, 2022, on a journey to Heaven. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Joseph Thambi as Celebrant. Services will be live streamed on Bridgman Funeral Home Facebook Page. Interment will follow at High Butte Cemetery in McGrew, NE. She was born August 28th, 1942, in Nueva Rosita, in the State of Coahuila, Mexico, and came to the United States in April of 1952 with her mother and grew up and went to school in McGrew. On June 26th, 1965, she married Stanley (Estanilado) Guzman and to this union three children were born, Mark, Linda and Michelle. In 1983 she became a widow and continued to live in McGrew raising her children. Eloisa worked as a nurse’s aide at Heritage Estates for 20 years and then Bovadir Laboratories in Scottsbluff for a number of years before going on to work at Home Instead. She retired in March of 2020. Elosia enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren, she loved Nebraska football. She was famous in her family for her pork chili. She also volunteered for many years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She enjoyed meeting people and made numerous friends throughout the community. Elosia is survived by her children Mark Guzman of North Platte, NE, Linda Guzman-Gonzales (Raymond) and Michelle Reuland of Scottsbluff, NE; special niece and nephew Frank and Nena Grimaldo of Ontario, OR; grandchildren Derek Guzman and grandsons Jaxon and Jasper of Broken Arrow, OK, Wade (Julie) Helberg and grandsons George, Glen and Gene of Wahoo, NE, Michael (Judy) Guzman of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law Helen Medina, Manuela and (John) Tugman, of South Bend, IN, Elizabeth and (Steve) McCarthy of Rapid City, SD; brothers-in-law Raymond and Frank Guzman of South Bend, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Stanley, mother Paula Murrillo and stepfather Jesus Murrillo, mother and father-in law Maria and Nabor Guzman, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Eleanor Guzman, brother-in-law Salbador (Jake) Guzman as well numerous brothers and sisters with Eloisa being the youngest of her siblings.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Joseph Thambi as Celebrant. Services will be live streamed on Bridgman Funeral Home Facebook Page. Interment will follow at High Butte Cemetery in McGrew, NE. Visitation will be from 1-2pm at the church with a Rosary Service being recited at 1:30pm. John L. Montgomery, 67, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his home in Alliance.

He was born May 2, 1955 in Chadron, Nebraska to John H. and Wiladell (Hite) Montgomery.

On July 12, 1980 he was united in marriage to Alice Adamson.

John was working at KL Wood Construction at the time of his death.&nbsp; He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a former active member of the Optimist Club for many years.&nbsp; He was a family man and enjoyed helping people in the community.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, his children, April (Marty) Dean, Travis (Samantha) Montgomery all of Alliance, Joshua (Desiree) Montgomery of Morrill, Chad (Danielle) Montgomery of Gering and Jessica (Jesse) Allen of North Platte.&nbsp; He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caden, Haeliegh, Zeke Dean, Alexander, Zachary, Matthew and Allison Montgomery, Sklyer, Chloe, Noah, Estella and Ryan Montgomery, Brinlee Montgomery and Ein, Eli and Elaina Allen, one great-grandchild, Oaklein Dean and one expected great-grandchild.&nbsp;&nbsp; He is also survived by his brothers, David and Larry of Scottsbluff and his sister, Kathy Cox of Copperas Cove, TX.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Mike and Randy,&nbsp; sisters-in-law, Loretta, Charlene, and Diane,&nbsp; brothers-in-law Michael, Alan, and Jack, nieces, Anna and Christina and a nephew, Lee.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Tim Stoner officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A wake service will be Sunday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the church.&nbsp; Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Bates-Gould Funeral Home and continue at the wake service.
