Chadron State College football puts spring drills in high gear for the next three weeks. The Eagles are preparing for their annual spring game, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, at 10 a.m.

"We've got a lot of young faces out there," said CSC Head Football Coach&nbsp;Jay Long. "We've got a lot of work to do, and we've got a lot of guys who really need this spring to develop."

The game begins with the quarterback position, where the Eagles are looking to replace five-year starter&nbsp;Dalton Holst, the top all-time career passer at CSC. As things stand, vying to replace Holst are three top candidates as well as a host of others.

Heath Beemiller, a graduate transfer from the Big Sky Conference's Northern Arizona University, will be the newest signal-caller to step into the competition. The Chandler, Arizona, native spent four years at his former school and will have two remaining at CSC.

Returning as Holst's backup from last season is sophomore&nbsp;Mason Hamilton, who finished the last couple of games in 2021 under center. The former two-time Wyoming Super 25 pick, from Holst's own hometown of Gillette, completed 8-of-16 passes last season for 164 yards and two touchdowns last season as a redshirt freshman.

Adding to the fray is redshirt freshman&nbsp;Preston Pearson, a Kearney High product who was a Lincoln Journal-Star Class A Super Stater in 2020.

"The quarterback situation is extremely competitive," said&nbsp;Micah Smith, the team's offensive coordinator. "We have three guys getting equal repetitions, and we're just grading one practice at a time so we know what we have at the end."

Smith added that all three are quarterbacks who like to get out and run, so the offense might take on a slightly new dimension this year.

Sophomore&nbsp;Jeydon Cox, of Jackson, Wyoming, returns as the top rusher this past season. He averages 5.8 yards on 170 carries over the past 15 games. Behind him are another pair of sophomores in Tallahassee, Florida's&nbsp;Dorian Collier, and Billings, Montana's&nbsp;Brock Ping, who each saw significant time last fall.

The leading rusher from 2020,&nbsp;Jalen Starks, is still enrolled at CSC and will be working hard in the classroom to return in the fall.

CSC returns a cadre of veteran receivers including senior&nbsp;Montel Gladney, juniors&nbsp;Ali Musa&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ahlonte Hair, and sophomores&nbsp;Jamal Browder&nbsp;and&nbsp;Peter Krohn, a tight end. All of these had at least 100 receiving yards in 2021, and they combined for eight touchdown receptions.

Along the offensive line, CSC will look to replace All-American&nbsp;Justin Calderon. Stepping into his empty spot at left tackle will likely be&nbsp;Juan Estrada-Sanchez, a First Team All-RMAC selection in 2021.&nbsp;Michael DeCamillis&nbsp;will snap the ball, as he's done for two seasons, and the Eagles will look to a number of youngsters and transfers to shore up the remaining positions.

Senior&nbsp;Emmit Rosentrater, from Paxton, Nebraska, has opted to return for a "Covid" season and will likely assume a starting position in the fall.

Defensively, the Eagles will keep things simple this spring and look for playmakers to emerge.

"We'll focus on playing fast," said&nbsp;Clint Sasse, the team's defensive coordinator. "We're looking for aggression, and we want to play without thinking too much. We need to find players who are students of the game, and have a high football IQ.

"On the front trenches, three veterans –&nbsp;Gabe Perkins,&nbsp;Rich Harris, and&nbsp;Trevon Smith&nbsp;– who saw extended playing time in 2021, are out for spring with injuries. Fortunately, the Eagles are deep at the defensive line positions.

Senior&nbsp;Tayven Bray, junior&nbsp;Kobe Whipple, sophomores&nbsp;Kien Martin&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hunter O'Connor, and redshirt freshman&nbsp;Tanner True&nbsp;should be among the first to rotate in on the defensive front.

Three linebackers graduated with a total of 196 tackles last season, leaving an open competition at the position. However, CSC has played several young players who return with experience.

Leading them is junior&nbsp;Joey Geil&nbsp;of Casper, Wyoming, who was thrust into the starting lineup last season due to injury and was third on the team with 66 tackles.

Other options include junior Nebraska-Kearney transfer Heamasi Latu, III, as well as sophomores&nbsp;Xavier Harrell,&nbsp;Dylan Soule, and&nbsp;Saxon Wright. The latter three all saw action in the majority of games last fall.

Cornerback&nbsp;Bobby Peele&nbsp;and safety&nbsp;Brendan Brehmer&nbsp;are two "super senior" defensive backs who opted for a fifth season of eligibility after Covid waivers were granted. Peele will miss the spring but will return in the fall, while Brehmer will take part in spring drills.

After those two, the backfield is deep with playmakers.&nbsp;Harvey Reynolds&nbsp;is a fourth-year junior who got on the field as a true freshman in 2019. Junior&nbsp;Jahvonte Hair&nbsp;is another top candidate after a breakout sophomore season. Sophomores Byron Kynard and&nbsp;Braden Sandersfeld&nbsp;look to contribute at defensive back after standing out on special teams last fall. Redshirt freshmen&nbsp;Josh Sink&nbsp;and&nbsp;Dax Yeradi&nbsp;are two top redshirt freshmen who lost last season to injury, and&nbsp;Sutton Pohlman&nbsp;took a redshirt in 2021.

As for special teams, senior&nbsp;Gunnar Jones&nbsp;will reprise his role as kicker and punter, while Musa and Cox are the favorites to return kicks and punts.

Newly hired special teams coordinator&nbsp;Wes Coomes&nbsp;said he's still learning some of the names on his squad, and that his scheming will come later in the three-week period.

The team will practice three times a week in April, through the 22nd, until the spring intrasquad scrimmage on the 23rd.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Creighton tops Cornhuskers in Omaha

For the second weekend in a row, Chadron State College senior Tiegan Marchant of Newcastle, Wyo., has won the steer wrestling at a Central Rocky Mountain Region Rodeo.&nbsp; His latest win was at the Eastern Wyoming College rodeo in Torrington this past weekend, while the week before he took top honors at the Gillette College rodeo.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The two victories have vaulted Marchant to the top of the region’s steer wrestling standings.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron State also had more success at the EWC rodeo, where Rylee Naprstek of Gothenburg, Neb., and Tylee Brink of Reva, S.D., placed second and third, respectively, among the 98 breakaway ropers.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Marchant tied for third and fourth in the first round of steer wrestling at Torrington with a 5.9-second run.&nbsp; He was first in the championship go-round on Sunday with a 4-second flat mark to win the event.&nbsp; He has now accumulated 390 points for the season to take the lead in the “doggin’” standings for the 2021-22 season.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The competition is stiff. Bernie Girard, a native of Alliance who attends Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, is second with 370 points and Austin Hurlburt of the University of Wyoming is third with 360.&nbsp; There are three more rodeos in the region this spring.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Naprstek caught her first calf at Torrington in 2.5 seconds to place third in the go-round and roped the second one Sunday in 2.9 to tie for first place and finish second in the standings.&nbsp; She’s a freshman and this is the first time she’s placed in breakaway roping at a college rodeo.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Brink, who is a senior, has “been there and done that” before.&nbsp; She tied for fourth and fifth in the first go-round last weekend in 2.7 seconds and was fourth in the finals in 3.1 to claim third place overall.&nbsp; She had placed in breakaway roping at three of the previous six rodeos this season, and is now fourth in the regional standings with 255 points.

BY: CON MARSHALL CSC AthleticsFor the second weekend in a row, Chadron State College senior Tiegan Marchant of Newcastle, Wyo., has won the steer wrestling at a Central Rocky Mountain Region Rodeo.&nbsp; His latest win was at the Eastern Wyoming College rodeo in Torrington this past weekend, while the week before he took top honors at the Gillette College rodeo.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The two victories have vaulted Marchant to the top of the region’s steer wrestling standings.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron State also had more success at the EWC rodeo, where Rylee Naprstek of Gothenburg, Neb., and Tylee Brink of Reva, S.D., placed second and third, respectively, among the 98 breakaway ropers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Marchant tied for third and fourth in the first round of steer wrestling at Torrington with a 5.9-second run.&nbsp; He was first in the championship go-round on Sunday with a 4-second flat mark to win the event.&nbsp; He has now accumulated 390 points for the season to take the lead in the “doggin’” standings for the 2021-22 season.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The competition is stiff. Suns clinch top playoff seed in west through win over Denver 140-130

DENVER (AP) — Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that torched several rows of seats and a suite area at the Denver Broncos’ stadium. The fire broke out on the fourth level at Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday afternoon and spread to the third level, where it burned at least six rows of seats in two sections. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control but were trying to determine if it had spread to other areas of the stadium, which seats more than 76,000 people. No injuries were reported, and investigators have not said what caused the fire.

Along with warmer temperatures spring football has arrived in Chadron on the campus of Chadron State College!&nbsp; This time every year the excitement begins to build for the upcoming fall season, and the Eagles get their first looks at what life will be like with a refreshed roster.

For the first time in six seasons CSC is searching for its signal caller at quarterback following that graduation of Dalton Holst, who authored one of the most decorated careers in CSC history while setting records in several passing categories and finishing as a 2019 Harlon Hill Trophy nominee.

Redshirt sophomore Mason Hamilton comes into the spring with the most returning experience.&nbsp; He got in six contests last fall and threw two touchdowns among his 164 yards.&nbsp; Hamilton showed us flashes of his agility running the ball, which fits Offensive Coordinator Micah Smith's scheme well, and Hamilton launched a deep-ball touchdown pass that raised eyebrows showing his arm strength. Spending two seasons observing and learning from Holst will also go a long way in Hamilton's development moving forward contending for the&nbsp; starting nod.

Trevon Wehrman is also listed as a returner on the 2022 spring roster giving CSC a fourth-year player at the position.&nbsp; Wehrman hasn't seen game action on the field as an Eagle at QB but brings a winning pedigree with him from high school when he quarterbacked the Colorado 2A State Runner-Up at Platte Valley High School.&nbsp; Being a veteran in the CSC system helps too.

Jake Sanders signed with Idaho State at the FCS level in February so he's no longer an option to take over.

Also rostered coming into the spring according to CSC Athletics is redshirt sophomore Connor Schwend from Montana, sophomore Zachary Kapushion from Broomfield, Colorado, and sophomore Preston Pearson from Kearney, Nebraska.&nbsp; James Opio - CSC's first ever Maine recruit - was switched over from QB to defense in his freshman season.

Eagles open spring football with eyes on who takes over at QB

How do you measure success?&nbsp; The definition says..."the accomplishment of an aim or purpose".&nbsp; For the Alliance Girls Basketball Team the 2021-22 season was a success...not just because of wins and losses,&nbsp; but through hard work,&nbsp; competing each game and showing team unity every day, every practice and every game.&nbsp; &nbsp;The Bulldogs celebrated their season and honored their Senior players at a team banquet Tuesday night.

Head Coach Stephen Crile along with Assistant Coaches Reve Fries and Heidi Manion,&nbsp; thanked the Seniors for their dedication and for "buying in" with what a new coach was trying to build.&nbsp; &nbsp;Coach Crile talked about how the team got better, throughout the season and it showed in improved team statistics.&nbsp; But Coach focused on how the players learned life lessons that will make them better people as they move on.&nbsp; &nbsp;Coach also had each of the Seniors talk as part of learning a life lesson.&nbsp; This years Seniors included...Team Manager Ella Ozen and Players,&nbsp; Angie Davis, Amauri Browning, Leyton Schnell, Emma Wood, Avah Steggall and Macala Hood.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Following the remarks, Coach Crile presented the Team Awards, which were voted on by the players and coaches.

AHS Girls Basketball Honors Seniors and Celebrates Season

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Infielder Ryan McMahon and the Colorado Rockies have agreed to a $70 million, six-year contract that avoided salary arbitration. McMahon gets $5 million this season, $9 million in 2023, $12 million in each of the following two seasons and $16 million in each of the last two years. He can opt out of the deal early depending on his finish in MVP voting. McMahon set career bests last year with a .254 batting average with 86 RBIs, and he had 23 homers, one shy of his high.

McGowens had 11 games with at least 20 points, including a season-high 29 against both Sam Houston State and Rutgers. He played his best down the stretch, averaging 19.8 points over 12 games. He's been projected to be a late first-round or second-round pick.

There were four multiple event winners and three records were broken as the region’s track and field season got off to an exciting start Saturday at Chadron State College’s High School Invitational Indoor Meet.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron High School senior Chayton Bynes swept all four events that he entered—the 60-meter dash that had 59 entries in 7.65 seconds and the three jumps.&nbsp; He went 21 feet, 2 inches in the long jump, 40-11 in the triple jump and 6-2 in the high jump.&nbsp;

Bynes was the runner-up in each of the three jumps at last year’s CSC meet.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jordan Stoddard, a senior at Southeast High at Yoder, Wyo., won three events. She outran 31 contestants in the 60 meters to take first in 8.28 seconds and went 18-3 ¾ to win the long jump and cleared 5-6 to claim the high jump.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron’s Tatum Bailey ran away with the 60-meter hurdles in 9.80 seconds, won the triple jump for the second year in a row by going 33-3 and also was the runner-up in the high jump at 5-4, in addition to placing fourth in the shot put.

&nbsp;Scottsbluff’s Hans Bastron was another double-winner.&nbsp; He won the 1600 meters in 5:10.55 and the 3200 in 12:21.86.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The record-breakers included Ryan Clapper of Southeast High. He ran the 200 meters in 23.08 seconds to bypass the time of 23.20 posted by Ryan Schwartzkopf of Gering in 2014 by 12 hundredths Clapper also was the runner-up in the 400 meters on Saturday.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Girls broke the other two records.&nbsp; Alliance’s Jaelynne Clarke ran the 400 meters in 1:01.46 seconds to eclipse the mark of 1:01.68 set by Annie Peterka of Scottsbluff in 2000.&nbsp; A current Scottsbluff athlete, Payton Burda, also broke the old record with her time of 1:01.49 and was barely nipped by Clarke in the third heat in the 400.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Burda still got her name on the meet’s record board.&nbsp; She was the lead runner on Scottsbluff’s 4x400 relay team that ran a blistering 4:17.24 to shatter the old record established by Rapid City Central in 2003 by more than two seconds.&nbsp; Burda’s mates on the relay were Mariyah Avila, Taryn Spady and Paige Horne.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Other girls who were individual event winners were Kayel Lambert of Alliance, 200; Madison Seiler of Gering, 800; Jadyn Scott of Gering, 1600; Makenzie Anderson of Chadron, 3200; Shelby Ekwall of Southeast, shot put; and Josey Wahlstrom of Custer, S.D., pole vault.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Other boys who came in first were Ryan Allen of Scottsbluff, 400; Lucas Trujillo of Creek Valley, 800; Mikael Grace of Custer, 60 hurdles; Cody Hall of Chadron, shot put; and Aaron Price of Scottsbluff, who repeated as the pole vault winner by going 13 feet, six inches higher than a year ago.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron put together the boys’ fastest 4x400 relay team. It was comprised of Quinn Bailey, Garrett Reece, Rhett Cullers and Malachi Swallow.&nbsp; Reece finished just .03 of a second behind Grace in the high hurdles.&nbsp;

Gering won the boys’ 1500 sprint medley. The Bulldogs’ runners were Tyler Garrett, Tanner Gartner, Lucas Moravec and Eli Marez.&nbsp;&nbsp;

BY: CON MARSHALLThere were four multiple event winners and three records were broken as the region’s track and field season got off to an exciting start Saturday at Chadron State College’s High School Invitational Indoor Meet.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron High School senior Chayton Bynes swept all four events that he entered—the 60-meter dash that had 59 entries in 7.65 seconds and the three jumps.&nbsp; He went 21 feet, 2 inches in the long jump, 40-11 in the triple jump and 6-2 in the high jump.&nbsp;Bynes was the runner-up in each of the three jumps at last year’s CSC meet.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jordan Stoddard, a senior at Southeast High at Yoder, Wyo., won three events. She outran 31 contestants in the 60 meters to take first in 8.28 seconds and went 18-3 ¾ to win the long jump and cleared 5-6 to claim the high jump.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Chadron’s Tatum Bailey ran away with the 60-meter hurdles in 9.80 seconds, won the triple jump for the second year in a row by going 33-3 and also was the runner-up in the high jump at 5-4, in addition to placing fourth in the shot put.<figure>

 </figure>&nbsp;Scottsbluff’s Hans Bastron was another double-winner.&nbsp; He won the 1600 meters in 5:10.55 and the 3200 in 12:21.86.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The record-breakers included Ryan Clapper of Southeast High. Records shattered at Chadron State high school track meet

Macala Hood knows the value of hard work.&nbsp; Throughout her High School career, she has balanced school work with practices and competitions in three sports, all while living on a ranch raising goats for 4-H and FFA shows and fairs.&nbsp; She is the&nbsp;definition of a hard working, ranch kid.&nbsp;

Her work has payed off,&nbsp; as Macala has signed to continue her education and compete in track and field, at Mount Marty University .&nbsp; She plans to major in Pre-Veterinary Studies and will compete on the Lancer indoor and outdoor track &amp; field teams.&nbsp; At AHS, Macala took part in cross country, basketball and track &amp; field.&nbsp; She was also very active in 4-H and FFA.&nbsp; &nbsp;At Mount Marty she will focus on the hurdle events.&nbsp;

Mount Marty University is located in Yankton, South Dakota. It is an NAIA school and a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.&nbsp; Macala is the daughter of Colleen and Robb Hood of Lakeside.&nbsp;

Center on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the No. 8 seed Huskers ended their season with a 24-9 overall record. The ninth-seeded Zags, who were the West Coast Conference tournament champions, improved to 27-6 overall and advanced to Sunday's second round. <a href="https://huskers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=42985">Jaz Shelley</a>&nbsp;added 11 points and four assists for the Huskers despite being shackled with foul trouble for more than two quarters. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic that wreaked havoc on college basketball the past three seasons, the NCAA relaxed eligibility and transfer rules and voila! — juniors and seniors are everywhere and playing key roles across the map. And no one played a bigger role than Teddy ‘Buckets’ Allen, who scored 37 points, including the final 15, to lead 12th-seeded New Mexico State — the fifth program Allen has suited up for — to a 70-63 upset of No. 5 Connecticut.

Alliance High School Senior Angie Davis has signed a Letter of Intent to attend Doane University in Crete, Ne.&nbsp; &nbsp;and will be a member of the womens basketball team.&nbsp; Angie is a 3 year starter for the Alliance Bulldogs.&nbsp; She averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds this season. She also made&nbsp; 34,&nbsp; 3-pointers and&nbsp; shot&nbsp; 64% from the free throw line.&nbsp; She played her freshman season at Hyannis High School where she scored over 100 points.&nbsp; At AHS, she also competed in volleyball, cross country and track &amp; field.&nbsp; Angie says it has always been her dream to play college basketball and she looks forward to beginning her college career.&nbsp; Angie is the Daughter of Lori and Scott Davis of rural Garden County.

Doane is a member of the GPAC Conference and the NAIA.&nbsp; The Womens Basketball Team is coached by Ryan Baumgartner. The Tigers went 12-18 this past season.&nbsp;

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Russell Wilson flashed that mile-wide smile and embraced the prospect of playing in the loaded AFC and in the shadows of John Elway and Peyton Manning.

“I want to win three to four more Super Bowls. That's the plan, that's the goal, that's the mission, that's the vision," Wilson declared Wednesday after the NFL signed off on the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/seattle-seahawks-denver-broncos-nfl-business-sports-c9fe3ed6d40314d91eec74404d37573e">biggest blockbuster trade of the offseason</a>.

“So, let’s do it. Why not?” the former Seahawks QB added as he scanned the auditorium where Elway himself, now a consultant to general manager George Paton, stood smiling in the back.

The deal agreed to last week sent the star 33-year-old quarterback from Seattle to the Rocky Mountains for a massive package of picks and players.

Wilson said he picked Manning's brain about making a mid-career transition, about schools in Denver, and about the organization once it became apparent he'd get his wish and move to Colorado for the second — and he hopes, final — chapter of his stellar career.

Although the trade couldn't be finalized until the start of the new league year Wednesday, Wilson and his wife, R&amp;B singer-songwriter Ciara, already have visited sick children in Denver just like the couple used to do in Seattle.

Wilson said he aims to play 10 to 12 more seasons and finish his career in Denver after a fruitful decade in Seattle, where the Seahawks made it clear in congratulatory Twitter posts Wednesday that Wilson was the one who had&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/Seahawks/status/1504191589622575107?s=20&amp;t=bW_qa551n1RtQivenBUz6w">asked for the breakup</a>.

“Yeah, I didn't initiate it," Wilson retorted. “It was definitely mutual.”

He also insisted he harbors no ill will toward his former team.

“Hard feelings? No. I had 10 incredible years” there, Wilson said. "... And what I do know is that some of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, from Manning to Tom Brady, Drew Brees, have gone from one place to another, guys I’ve always known and admired. So, in this moment, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to continue to grow and learn.”

Wilson said he believes he's not even halfway through his NFL career because of his work ethic and focus on health and nutrition. He didn't miss a game until last year, when a fractured right middle finger sidelined him for a month after he'd started his first 165 games, including 16 in the playoffs.

Wilson becomes the first QB to join the team he beat in the Super Bowl, having vanquished the Broncos 43-8 after the 2013 season. Now he wants to follow Manning and Brady in winning a Super Bowl with his second team.

“Their best years are 30- to 40-plus range,” Wilson said. “You see Tom coming back, Drew as long as he played, you know. So, to me, I ain't even got started yet.”

Wilson isn't just playing in the shadow of great quarterbacks in a QB-crazed city, he's joining an AFC that's loaded with the likes of Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.
