GERING, Neb. — Circle Theatre invites the Gering and Scottsbluff community to a full day of creativity and cultural exploration with&nbsp;Momotaro at Legacy of the Plains Museum, a hands-on workshop celebrating Japanese arts, folklore, and performance. This engaging event, inspired by the beloved Japanese folktale of&nbsp;Momotaro&nbsp;and led by artists of all abilities, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, and is free to the public.

The daylong series of workshops will immerse participants in traditional and contemporary Japanese art forms. Visitors can fold origami characters, learn Odori (traditional Japanese dance), craft Bunraku-style puppets and Noh theatre masks, sing folk songs such as&nbsp;Teru Bozu&nbsp;and&nbsp;Oni no Pantsu and conclude with haiku poetry and reflection. The day will culminate in a short performance demonstration of&nbsp;Momotaro: The Peach Boy of Japan&nbsp;by members of Circle Theatre’s ensemble.

“This workshop is about connecting culture, creativity and community,” says Circle Theatre Co-Artistic Director&nbsp;Courtney Stein Cairncross. “It’s a chance for families to explore Japanese art traditions while discovering the joy of storytelling through movement, music and puppetry.”

Circle Theatre Brings Japanese Storytelling to Life at Legacy of the Plains Museum

Hunters in the chronic wasting disease testing zone for this year’s firearm deer season will have two options to test their deer: in-person check stations or a free mail-in sampling kit.

Testing in the Platte, Frenchman, Buffalo or Republican units is part of the continued surveillance of chronic wasting disease and its occurrence across Nebraska. Testing and access to results are free of charge to hunters who check their deer in person or submit a sample using a kit.

Nebraska Game and Parks will provide kits only to those intending to Telecheck their harvested deer in one of the four test units.

Hunters may request one at OutdoorNebraska.gov by searching for “CWD” and filling out the “Request a CWD Sampling Kit” form. Hunters will need to select the deer management unit they intend to hunt and provide their permit number to complete the form and receive a kit.

Once processed, the kit with supplies, instructions and a free return shipping label will be mailed to the hunter through the U.S. Postal Service; shipping should take three to seven business days.

Hunters should sample their deer within three days of harvest, and samples kept frozen until mailed back using the free FedEx shipping label. Hunters should not ship samples on Fridays or Saturdays to ensure quality samples for testing.

About 2,000 kits will be available and issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

The kits are being provided as part of a study comparing CWD testing methods as Telecheck becomes more common.

Wheat and milo stubble left tall following harvest provides excellent cover and hunting opportunities for pheasants and other wildlife. The 2025-2026 Stubble Access Guide displays these and other adjacent habitats open to public, walk-in hunting across portions of western Nebraska.

Through the Open Fields and Waters program, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission works with landowners to increase public hunting, trapping and/or fishing access on private lands. Tall wheat and milo stubble fields are enrolled in Open Fields and Waters following harvest each year to ensure quality cover is provided.

The Stubble Access Guide complements the atlas and highlights an additional 33,400 acres of upland habitat open to public access in western Nebraska. It displays these recently enrolled tracts, as well as other publicly accessible lands. Many stubble fields include adjacent cover types and valuable habitat to watch for.

The Stubble Access Guide is available where hunt permits are sold throughout parts of western Nebraska. 2025-2026 Stubble Access Guide Now Available

CHADRON, Neb. – More than 950 high school students from Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota took 1,478 tests in 39 different subjects Oct. 15 during Chadron State College’ 62nd&nbsp;annual Scholastic Contest.

Scottsbluff placed first in Division I, followed by Rapid City Stevens High School and Alliance in third. The Division II champion was Chadron, followed by Sidney in second place and Rapid City Christian in third. The Division III champion was Valentine, followed by Bridgeport in second and Gordon-Rushville placed third. The Division IV champion was Creek Valley, followed by Ainsworth and Rock County. The Division V champion was Mullen, second place was South Platte and third place went to Keya Paha.

CSC President Dr. Jodi Kupper said the Scholastic Contest was a great event.

“The students had fun, the high school teachers and administrators appreciated the event, and hopefully, we found some new CSC Eagles in the process,” Kupper wrote in an all-campus email.

Co-chairs Sabrina Fox and Dr. Brooks Hafey said they received a phone call from a counselor who said she has attended Scholastic Contest every year since 2014 and this was the best one she’s ever attended.

Kupper acknowledged the hard work from the Scholastic Contest committee, and the faculty and staff and students who helped with every process both public and behind the scenes.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Derry Ebert said it was exciting to host the students.

“Their excitement for their subjects is contagious. We hope to see them back on campus as Eagles over the next few years,” Ebert said.

Awards for the competition include sweatshirts for test winners, medals for the top three placements in each test, and certificates of merit for those finishing in the top 25 percent. First-place winners among junior and senior high students receive a Scholastic Achievement Award of $500, or non-renewable, non-transferable tuition waiver. Students who win a scholarship as juniors are also eligible to win as seniors.

CSC’s first Scholastic Contest, based on a similar one at Kearney, was in 1961. It drew 850 students from 41 schools. The highest number of entrants was 1992 with 2,643 in attendance. Some years have included every school in the Panhandle.

Trump approved the distribution of $15 million in funding to support recovery efforts from a summer storm system that resulted in extremely strong winds and flash flooding. The Aug. 8-10 event caused extensive damage to schools and public facilities. Public power infrastructure took the hardest hit.

“This was a highly impactful storm and I appreciate the action by President Trump and his administration to ensure that recovery efforts move forward in areas that were greatly affected,” said Governor Jim Pillen.

The declaration applies to 12 counties: Burt, Douglas, Fillmore, Lancaster, Nemaha, Nuckolls, Saline, Saunders, Seward, Thayer, Washington and Webster.

The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is working with local emergency managers and public entities now eligible for assistance under this declaration.

President Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for August 8-10 Storms

The annual AgSplosion Field Day welcomed 190 second graders on Tuesday, Oct. 14, to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at the Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff. The 4-H Ag Literacy event rotated the students through eight stations to learn more about agriculture in their surrounding communities.&nbsp;

“We teach second graders about agriculture, specifically within the Panhandle,” said Audra Brown, Nebraska 4-H Extension Assistant. “The students learn about agricultural commodities within the Panhandle, from beans to corn, and beef to dairy cattle. They are exposed to what is being produced in agriculture right here in their backyard.”

The event was held in early October across the Nebraska Panhandle. Elementary schools from Bridgeport, Chadron, Chappell, Hemingford, Mitchell, Minatare, Morrill, and Scottsbluff participated in field days in their areas. A 4-H team was created from extension assistants in the surrounding counties. They created a schedule, contacted schools, and then came together to help staff the stations at each field day to ensure a successful event.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

The stations included: beef, dairy, dry beans, potatoes, wheat, and their many products; corn, and the Nebraska Corn Board; and ag technology used by producers. The swine session, which explained commercial swine operations, was led by Brown.&nbsp;

“They really enjoy looking at the model swine barn - the comment I hear the most is ‘wow that's a lot of pigs in there!’ Having a physical model helps them to better understand what a farm looks like,” she said. The students were surprised to learn that pig heart valves can be used to replace damaged or diseased heart valves in humans, which function in much the same way. The students also learned about by-products that come from swine, such as chewing gum, crayons, and drumheads.

Sponsors this year included: Corn Board Grant, Morrill County Farm Bureau, Nebraska Dry Bean &amp; Lentil Commission, Oshkosh Heifer Development (donating dairy station supplies), Scotts Bluff County Farm Bureau, and Walthers Farms (donating the potato chips).

Second Graders Engage with Agriculture at Annual AgSplosion Field Day

LINCOLN, Neb.&nbsp;– Governor Jim Pillen is providing an update on progress made at the Work Ethic Camp in McCook, which will allow the facility to be utilized for the detention of illegal detainees in support of ongoing efforts by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE.

In preparation for receiving detainees, the facility underwent a final walk-through by ICE inspectors this week and was approved for use. &nbsp;Final security upgrades will continue at WEC over the next day or so.

“Getting the final pieces pulled together has admittedly been a little bit of a moving target and has been made more difficult with the Schumer shutdown,” acknowledged Gov. Pillen. “Given the many tasks that had to be completed, including the transfer of remaining inmates, building modifications, training of staff and other components, we have made significant progress.”

“Passing these inspections is a testament to our team’s commitment to safety, security, and professionalism,” said Rob Jeffreys, director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). “I appreciate the attention to detail shown at every level of this facility and the strong partnerships and cooperation with DHS and ICE that have made this possible.”

A timeline for receiving detainees is still being arranged in coordination with officials at DHS/ICE.  </figure>LINCOLN, Neb.&nbsp;– Governor Jim Pillen is providing an update on progress made at the Work Ethic Camp in McCook, which will allow the facility to be utilized for the detention of illegal detainees in support of ongoing efforts by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE.In preparation for receiving detainees, the facility underwent a final walk-through by ICE inspectors this week and was approved for use. &nbsp;Final security upgrades will continue at WEC over the next day or so.“Getting the final pieces pulled together has admittedly been a little bit of a moving target and has been made more difficult with the Schumer shutdown,” acknowledged Gov. Gov. Pillen Updates Progress at Work Ethic Camp, Passes Final Inspection

Even though summer is over, don’t put away the fishing gear yet. There are plenty of opportunities for excellent fall fishing in Nebraska.

The summer pattern of fish behavior gives way to the fall pattern when the air and water temperatures cool and the days shorten. Fish become more active and aggressive. Fall is the time for fish to fatten up – and become more susceptible to a lure in the process.

“Those fish know winter is coming,” said Nebraska Game and Parks Fisheries Outreach Program Manager Daryl Bauer. “A lot of species are starting to develop eggs and milt for next spring so they need that extra energy, and that means they are going to keep feeding right through the fall. That’s one reason why fishing in the fall can be so good.”

Bauer said there is less natural prey in the water during the fall, compared to the peak of summer. “That means those fish are looking a little harder for food,” he said. “And that means it’s a little more likely they’re going to find my bait or lure when I’m out on the water.”

As fall approaches winter and the water gets colder, fish will slow down. Anglers should slow their presentation, as well.

Here are some of Bauer’s tips for better fall fishing:

Fish behavior –&nbsp;Fish generally still can be found shallow in the early fall, especially during stable, warm weather. Later, baitfish and larger sport fish start moving deeper. Still, warm afternoons may see some fish moving shallower again.

Where to find them –&nbsp;Structures with areas where shallow water is close to deep water tend to hold many fish. Fast-breaking points, creek channel bends, humps, or any areas where shallow water is near deep water tend to be spots where fish are likely to be found in the fall.

Big fish like big baits –&nbsp;This is especially true in the fall. Not only have baitfish grown throughout the summer, predator fish, with the need to take in as much energy as possible, can gain more of that energy by eating larger prey items.

Fish aquatic vegetation –&nbsp;On waters that have submerged aquatic vegetation, especially small and medium-sized flood-control reservoirs, pits and ponds, and Sandhills lakes, that vegetation is very productive and full of a variety of prey during the summer. It dies back in the fall, exposing small fish, aquatic insects and other organisms to increased predation.

Follow the frogs –&nbsp;Leopard frogs spend much of the summer in wet meadows and marshy habitats, but as the weather cools, they migrate back toward larger, deeper bodies of water. In some places, especially on warm, fall evenings, you may notice frogs along shorelines or beaches adjacent to marshes or wet meadows. If you see even a few frogs hopping along the shoreline, fish it.

Trout stocking –&nbsp;Rainbow trout are being stocked by Game and Parks at urban waters across the state to enhance fishing opportunities this fall and winter. Trout fishing is a great way to introduce children to fishing because simple and inexpensive equipment may be used.

Bauer has these suggestions for places to fish this fall:

Irrigation reservoirs –&nbsp;Large reservoirs are best for open-water fish like walleyes, wipers, white bass and others. As baitfish begin to gather in deeper water for the winter, anglers can experience some great fishing for those following and preying on them. In the fall, anglers are successful vertically jigging baits that imitate stressed and dying baitfish on McConaughy, Merritt, Sherman and others.

Pine Ridge trout streams –&nbsp;Located in the canyons and valleys between the Pine Ridge buttes are cold-water streams containing reproducing brown and brook trout. Try both the middle and south fork of Soldier Creek on the Soldier Creek Wilderness area, the White River or Big Bordeaux Creek.

Cooler waters –&nbsp;The cooler waters in northern and western Nebraska offer anglers options such as yellow perch, walleye, northern pike and even some muskellunge. Many spring-fed streams support year-round populations of brown, rainbow and the occasional brook trout. Stocking has provided even more trout, with cutthroat and tiger trout lurking in a few waters. Adventurous anglers can prospect those waters in pursuit of a Trout Slam.

NGPC Provides Fall Opportunities for Anglers

LINCOLN, Neb. –&nbsp;Next week, Governor Jim Pillen&nbsp;will lead a&nbsp;trade mission to&nbsp;Israel. The&nbsp;state&nbsp;delegation includes representatives from&nbsp;the Nebraska Department of Economic Development; Jewish Federation of Omaha; and Nebraska’s agricultural equipment manufacturing, food manufacturing, and professional service industries. The mission will take place from&nbsp;October 27-30.

In Israel, state leaders will promote Nebraska-made kosher beef, encourage agricultural technology (ag tech) partnerships, and develop relationships with civil associations. During the mission, Gov. Pillen will hold high-level diplomatic meetings and discuss the critical role played by U.S. defense technologies to secure Israel from attack. The delegation will also have an opportunity to see humanitarian work in Israel being supported by organizations in Nebraska.

Nebraska accounts for more than 99 percent of all U.S. beef exports to Israel. In 2024, Nebraska exported $13.5 million of beef products to Israel. The state’s beef sales to Israel are increasing. From January through July of 2025, Nebraska beef exports to Israel are 27 percent higher than they were during the same period last year.

In recent years, agricultural manufacturers in Nebraska have worked closely with Israeli ag tech companies.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lindsay.com/usca/en/resource/lindsay-combines-advanced-agronomy-with-predictive-machine-diagnostics-to-create-the-first-smart-pivot/" target="_blank">Lindsay</a>&nbsp;Corporation collaborated with Taranis, which develops crop management software, to create its Smart Pivot. ALLIANCE, Neb. – On Oct. 22 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. Officer Dahlberg arrested a habitual offender on multiple felony charges following a traffic stop for reckless driving behavior on 3rd Street.

The officer observed a Chevrolet Silverado turning west onto 3rd Street from Ramblin Road in front of a westbound vehicle, nearly causing a collision. The Silverado then continued westbound in the center turning lane before merging into traffic without signaling. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was identified as Casey Grimes (W/M, DOB 02/27/1982).

During the investigation, it was discovered that Grimes was under a 15-year driver’s license revocation for prior DUI convictions. Grimes was placed under arrest and transported to the Alliance Police Department, where a DUI investigation was conducted. He provided a preliminary breath test (PBT) result of .238 and a DataMaster result of .205.

A criminal history check revealed that Grimes had five prior DUI convictions and three prior prison sentences, two of which exceeded one year in length, qualifying him as a habitual criminal under Nebraska law.

At the time of the stop, Grimes had a female passenger with a valid driver’s license and a 10-year-old child in the back seat. Grimes was booked on the following charges and is currently being held in the Box Butte County Jail on a $50,000 bond:

The PSC Grain Department was recently informed that the company had purchased grain from a producer. An Oct. 20 inspection by the PSC Grain Department found that the company is purchasing various amounts of commodities from Nebraska producers and is also storing commodities at its facility in Axtell without proper license.

“It is imperative that our producers/sellers who are in the thick of harvest season are aware that this company does not hold a license to conduct grain dealer or grain warehouse activity in the state of Nebraska,” said Commission Chair Tim Schram.

The PSC is investigating Roberts Seed, Inc., for performing actions as a grain dealer in the state of Nebraska without a valid Grain Dealer License issued by the Commission, in violation of Nebraska Revised Statue § 75-903 and 291 Nebraska Administrative Code § 8-003.01; and as a grain warehouse, without a valid Grain Warehouse License, in violation of Nebraska Revised Statute §88-527, and 291 Nebraska Administrative Code § 08-002.01.

In 2018, Roberts Seed, Inc., was fined by the Commission and was prohibited from engaging in grain dealer activities without obtaining a Grain Dealer License.

Commission Vice-Chair Kevin Stocker said, “This company’s apparent blatant disregard for state law leaves us with no option but to order them to immediately cease and desist all activity.”

The PSC will begin the process of filing a formal complaint against Roberts Seed, Inc. Once the company receives the complaint, it will be required to show why it should not be assessed civil penalties for operating as both a grain dealer and a grain warehouse without proper license.

ALLIANCE, Neb. – Thanks to the Trees for Nebraska Towns Initiative, the effort of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and the Nebraska Forest Service, the City of Alliance Parks Department received 10 free trees for planting.

Trees were planted near the High School Tennis Courts and Sudman Ball Park in order to create a more shady and pleasing environment.

The obvious benefits of community trees are shade and beauty, but they give us so much more, including increased comfort, better health, energy savings and a wide range of other social, economic and environmental benefits. Despite this, most Nebraska community forests have lost far more trees than have been planted in recent decades. The program goals are not just to plant more trees, but also to increase appreciation and awareness of the significant value of community forests in Nebraska.

The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum’s (NSA) Trees for Nebraska Towns Initiative is funded by the Nebraska Environmental Trust and the USDA Forest Service through grants received by both the NSA and the Nebraska Forest Service.

Healthy Communities Start with Lead-Safe Homes, October 20-25 is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

Make sure to mark your calendars this year starting October 20 to celebrate National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW). Every year, National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week serves as a way to bring together individuals, organizations, industry, and Tribal, state and local governments to reduce childhood exposure to lead by increasing lead poisoning prevention awareness.

If you are concerned about your child’s blood lead level, stop by the Panhandle Public Health District (PPHD) office in Scottsbluff on October 30, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to have your child’s blood tested for free. You can also bring in items from your home that you might suspect contain lead such as toys, spices, tools and even clothes to be tested for the presence of lead.

This year’s theme for NLPPW, “Healthy Communities Start With Lead-Safe Homes,” highlights that every American should have a safe and healthy home:

Lead poisoning occurs when lead builds up in the body, often over months or years. Even small amounts of lead can cause serious health problems. Children younger than six years are especially vulnerable to lead poisoning, which can severely affect mental and physical development.

Lead-based paint and lead-contaminated dust in older buildings, especially homes built before 1978, are common sources of lead poisoning in children. Other sources include contaminated air, water and soil. Adults who work with batteries, do home renovations or work in auto repair shops also might be exposed to lead.

Understanding lead’s dangers and sources is the first step in protecting your family. Lead is highly toxic, especially to developing minds and bodies. Even small amounts can potentially cause:

Panhandle Public Health District has three state licensed Lead Abatement Risk Assessors on staff who can test your home for the presence of lead-based paint. PPHD can also check blood lead levels in children under six years of age.

PPHD Strives for Lead-Free Homes in National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

KEARNEY, Neb. — The Nebraska NetFest Singles &amp; Mixed Doubles Pickleball Championships and the Nebraska NetFest Volleyball State Championships took place Oct. 17–19, 2025, at the new Kearney SportsPlex, bringing together athletes from across the state for a weekend of spirited play.

This year’s NetFest Pickleball tournament welcomed 50 participants across all divisions, while NetFest Volleyball saw impressive growth with 72 teams competing in three divisions — an increase of nearly twenty teams from last year.

NetFest Volleyball featured close, high-level matches throughout the weekend. In the 7th/8th Gold Division, the Central City Bison claimed victory over the Palmyra Panthers in two tightly contested sets, 25–18 and 27–25. In the 5th/6th Gold Division, the Freedman 6th defeated the TC Trojans in two sets, 25-10 and 25-10. In the 3rd/4th Gold Division, the Palmyra Panthers secured a hard-fought two-set win against Amherst Red, 25–20 and 25–23.

NetFest Pickleball featured several returning champions and exciting matchups. In the 3.5 Mixed Doubles Division, Charles Roberson and Hayley Malcom of Lincoln captured gold for the second consecutive year, defeating Patrick McIlnay and Melissa Morrison of Kearney in the championship match. The 3.75 Mixed Doubles Division also saw a repeat titleholder, as Shane Trujillo and Sasha Zulkoski of Grand Island earned back-to-back gold with a win over Carol Roberts and Kevin Wood of North Platte.

The Kearney SportsPlex, is a premier facility featuring 12 hardwood volleyball courts, four indoor pickleball courts and expansive spectator seating. Its modern amenities helped deliver an outstanding experience for athletes and fans alike.

Nebraska NetFest Pickleball and Volleyball is presented by Visit Kearney and hosted by Kearney SportsPlex and the City of Kearney Park and Recreation. Nebraska NetFest Championships Showcase Growth, Exciting Competition

LINCOLN, Neb. –&nbsp;National Disability Employment Awareness Month is an annual time to pause and celebrate the value and talent individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities (IDD) contribute to the workforce. This October, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recognizes the achievements of individuals with IDD in the workplace, importance of employment opportunities and resources for supported employment.

“Employment is a vital part of empowering individuals to live with dignity, independence and make meaningful connections in their community,” said Tony Green, Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities within DHHS. “All Nebraskans deserve to pursue their life aspirations and explore the possibility of a fulfilling career throughout their lifespan. Skill building and employment opportunities provide meaningful connections, engagement with peers and community involvement.”

Many individuals with disabilities are willing, ready and excited to work. According to a national survey done by National Core Indicators in 2023-2024, 41 percent of individuals with IDD in Nebraska do not have a paid community job but want one. Many include a goal for employment into their service plan. Engaging in employment allows individuals to contribute to their community while strengthening the businesses with unique skills and abilities.

By hiring individuals with IDD, a business can expand its talent pool, strengthen its workforce, gain new insights into customer service designs specific for this population, understand new consumer experience perspectives and solve work-related problems.

Employment opens up opportunities for individuals with IDD to be contributing members of their community and engage with others in the ways they want.

ALLIANCE, Neb. - The Alliance Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the female in the attached photos. She is believed to be involved in multiple cases of fraud across western Nebraska, using fake identification to withdraw money from accounts that are not her own.

To date, the suspect has targeted Security First Bank in Rushville, First Interstate Bank in Alliance, and Platte Valley Bank in Bridgeport, stealing nearly $30,000 in total. The suspect appears to have a missing tooth on her upper row of teeth and has been observed presenting fraudulent identification cards during transactions.

Alliance PD Seeks Public’s Assistance in Identifying Fraud Suspect

CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State College will host several events the week of Nov. 4-11 to recognize and honor veterans as part of its annual Military Appreciation Week. The activities are designed to engage students, employees, and community members in showing gratitude to those who have served.

To begin the week, students will be invited to write letters of thanks to veterans at special booths Nov. 4-7 and Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center and King Library. The letters will be delivered to area veterans following the events.

In addition to the letter-writing campaign, the Nebraska Army National Guard will display vehicles near the south entrance of Beebe Stadium Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors can explore the vehicles and meet National Guard members before the day’s athletic events. At 11 a.m., the public is encouraged to join the CSC Spirit Team at the Chicoine Center Plaza for the football team’s pre-game Eagle Walk to the stadium. The football game at 1 p.m. between CSC and Western Colorado University will serve as both Military Appreciation and Senior Day.

The campus tribute will continue on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, with a ceremony and Quilts of Valor presentation in the Student Center Ballroom at 11 a.m. The CSC Band will perform the National Anthem, and ROTC cadets will present the colors and Capt. Andrew Hunt will give the keynote address. Cookies and beverages will be provided for attendees.

That evening, the volleyball team will host Regis University at 6 p.m. in the Chicoine Center.

Throughout the week, the Student Center lobby display case will feature uniforms, patches, and artifacts from the Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan War, offering a visual reminder of the service and sacrifice of military personnel.

Dawes County veterans are invited to attend all sporting events free of charge during Military Appreciation Week. Any form of military ID or documentation will be accepted. Jennifer has been a valued member of the NCAP team for more than three years, most recently serving as the organization’s Nutrition and ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance) Coordinator. Her strong leadership, collaborative spirit, and vibrant ideas will help elevate NCAP’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs as they continue to serve children and families across NCAP’s service area.

Her previous work as a Residential Supervisor and Community Support Professional at the Region I Office of Human Development honed her skills in leadership, individualized support, and quality assurance. In addition, her role as an Adjunct Art Instructor at Oglala Lakota College reflects her belief in the power of creativity and education to inspire confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

These are tied to a hook with the goal of imitating an insect or other small prey item of fish. Tie dry flies, which float on the surface, or wet flies, which sink just below the surface.
