Rita&nbsp;Schrock, 76, of Wakefield, NE, died on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Wayne Countryview Care and Rehabilitation in Wayne, NE.&nbsp; A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2023.&nbsp; Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is assisting&nbsp; with the arrangements.

Rita&nbsp;was born on November 15, 1946, in Granite City, IL, the daughter of James Edward and Helen (Lisac) Farrenkopf.&nbsp; At an early age, the family moved to Brookfield, MO, where she graduated from High School in 1964.&nbsp; She received her Librarian Certification soon after.&nbsp; In 1965, she began dating Stephen Schrock.&nbsp; They were united in marriage on June 28, 1969, at the Catholic Church in Brookfield, MO.&nbsp; To this union three children were born, Sam, Tess, and Sarah.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rita&nbsp;and Steve moved to several places with Steve’s job.&nbsp;

Rita&nbsp;dedicated her life to the service of others.&nbsp; She had a talent for organizing and fundraising and shared those talents with her community every chance she had.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rita&nbsp;cherished her Holy Rosary Parish and members and St. Agnes Academy and believed in their purpose and fund raised diligently for decades.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As a child&nbsp;Rita&nbsp;sang in the church choir that her father directed.&nbsp; She continued that passion by singing in her church choir for over twenty years.&nbsp; Singing was one of&nbsp;Rita’s many talents and joys.&nbsp; Passing on her faith to others and her family was one of the greatest gifts&nbsp;Rita&nbsp;left behind.&nbsp;

After raising their family in Alliance, NE,&nbsp;Rita&nbsp;and Steve moved to Wakefield, NE, in 2007 to be near family.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening, reading, learning, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rita&nbsp;is survived by her husband, Steve of Wakefield; son, Sam (Kerry) Schrock of Kearney, NE; daughters, Tess (Don) Anderson of Ten Sleep, WY; Sarah (Ryan) Ekberg of Wakefield, NE; grandchildren, Piper, Kade, and Kit Schrock, Hayden, and Roxy Ekberg; sister, Joanie (Miller) Cochran of Wichita, KS; brother, Dennis (Jane) Farrenkopf of Excelsior Springs, MO; and four nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

We are sad to announce the passing of (Joe) Alton Paul White of Torrington, WY. Joe passed away at age 70 November 16, 2022 surrounded by his life long partner and love of his life, Tanya. The celebration of life will be a private ceremony with only close family members present.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alton and  Margaret Burden, Torrington, his sisters Paulette Deaton, Patricia Moore, Lorna White, his brothers G.R Calvert, Ted Spies, and Loren White.

He is survived by his partner Tanya, his brother Bill White (Connie) of Torrington, sisters Adele Wells (Bob) of LaGrange, WY, Alberta Gentleman (Jack) of Alliance, NE, Roberta Hopkins( Terry) of Casper, WY, JoAnne (Bill),  Patty and  Norma.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Alton 'Joe' Paul White

Dana Duane Daniels was born November 19, 1963 in Livingston, Montana to Duane Gene Daniels and Marjorie (Winnie) Winifred Byford. He passed away in Heber, Arizona, November 23, 2022 on the trip home from Phoenix, Arizona after his second cancer surgery.

Dana was an Alliance High Graduate of 1982. He attended Chadron State College for one year before deciding the Army was a better fit for him. He was enlisted in the Army from 1983-1986, spending a one year tour in South Korea.

He married his High School sweetheart, Liz Jones, in Alliance NE in May, 1985. They had a life filled with much love and many adventures making for beautiful memories to cherish. Together they are blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Growing up in Montana, Dana was naturally an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to camp and later in his life got to enjoy the great outdoors at their cabin in the Black Hills,&nbsp;riding ATV's, fishing and just relaxing with his family, friends and his dog Otis. It was most definitely his happy place.

Dana was very athletic, playing baseball in Montana and being a successful track &amp; field athlete at Alliance High. He was part of the 4x800 relay in 1982 that won a gold medal at the&nbsp;State Track Meet, setting a new school record for that year.

Dana and Liz lived in several states before returning to Alliance and starting his career of 28 years at the BNSF Railroad and was looking forward to retirement. But his cancer had a&nbsp;different plan. Through the railroad, he gained some of his best friends that he enjoyed spending time with, drinking a few beers and solving all the world’s problems.

He was a good person and loved to help anyone in need, from his family and friends, to a homeless man, Sam in Phoenix that he felt some sort of connection to while he was undergoing his cancer treatment. He just knew so much about so many things - he will be sorely missed.

Dana is survived by his wife, Liz and two daughters, Stephanie Kathleen and Madison Marie and his best dog Otis, all of Alliance, NE. He is also by his sisters, Paula Daniels (children&nbsp;Daniel and Stephen Grahek) of Polson, MT and Rhonda (Chuck) Dentler (children Nicole and Cody) of Hemingford, NE along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, both here in the United States and in England, where his mother was from. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two nephews.

The saying "Only the good die young" is very true in this case. Forever an empty place in our life’s, but what an awesome guardian angel we have ...

Memorial services will be Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church.&nbsp;

Lillyan Vaye Rask went to her heavenly home on November 22, 2022 at the age of 92.&nbsp;

Lillyan was born to Lynn and Addie (Long) Buchanan on October 30, 1930 in Alliance, NE.&nbsp; When she was seven she moved with her mother and sister Ruby to Scottsbluff.&nbsp; It was there that she met the love of her life Pete Rask.&nbsp; They were married on August 30, 1947.&nbsp; After the birth of their first two daughters, they moved back to Alliance.&nbsp; Lillyan worked with Pete through the years with the various businesses that they owned.&nbsp; After Pete’s passing in 1983, Lillyan continued to provide numerous volunteer services for St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Eagles Auxiliary, RSVP, the Carnegie Art Center and the Alliance Chamber.&nbsp; She spent countless hours with each of these organizations until a decline in her health forced her to take a step back in 2009.&nbsp; With her retirement, she was also able to take numerous trips and tours around the US and traveled to all except for two states.

Lillyan was an incredible sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.&nbsp; She never knew a stranger and always put others before herself.&nbsp; Her family meant the world to her, and she did an amazing job of showing that love to each and every one.

She is survived by her daughter Karen (Tim) Kennedy of Gillette, WY, her son Gary (Geno) Rask of Arvada, CO, her daughter Cindy (Garry) Frank of Casper, WY and her daughter Kris (John) Funk of Casper, WY.&nbsp; She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Rask, her father Lynn Buchanan, her mother Addie McLaughlin, her sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Jim Hewitt, her sister Rosemary England, her brother Vic Dompierre, her daughter Connie Waits, her daughter Linda Johnson and her son Allen Rask.

Opal Ruth Tolstedt was born November 10, 1928 in Alliance, Nebraska to Olaf and Gertrude (Sterling) Olsen.&nbsp; Her growing up years were spent in rural Mitchell and Alliance.&nbsp; Opal celebrated her 94th birthday on November 10 and passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital following two years of loving care at Highland Park Care Center.

Opal graduated from Alliance High School in 1947. She met Wayne Tolstedt in Alliance and they were married October 23, 1949.

Most people knew Opal from her years at the Guardian State Bank. She also worked at Western Heritage Credit Union, Montgomery Ward, Kandy Snap, was an Avon dealer and was a rural school teacher. She was a leader in a Saint John's Lutheran Church service group and in the Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary. Opal's friendly smile, quick wit and kindness were beloved by many.

She is survived by her two sons, Jerry (Krestie) Tolstedt and Dick Tolstedt all of Alliance; four grandchildren, Tony (Sara) Tolstedt of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Jenny (Scott) Przymus of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Samantha (Ahmed) Ajroud of Middleport, New York, and Jordan (Bret) Dahl of Alliance, Nebraska; and eight great-grandchildren, Rowan, Thayne, Neji, Bree, Ethan, Ryker, Hedi, and Neil.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Lutheran Church with Maurine Roller, P.M.A. officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

Opal Ruth Tolstedt (1928 - 2022)

John (Todd) Gilliland passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2022, of an unknown cause. Todd was born to Terry and Sonya Gilliland in Kearney, Nebraska, on May 6, 1964.

In his early years, Todd was a phenomenal athlete known across the state for his size, speed, and fierce competitiveness. He was also known as a gentle giant, showing kindness and compassion to those struggling or down on their luck. He was known to protect those who were treated poorly by others.

All who knew Todd knew he loved the Oklahoma Sooners football team and reveled in watching The Big 12 match-up every year and was excited when there was a Big10 vs. Big 12 crossover game this year. He was even more excited that the Sooners were victorious. Equal to his love of the Sooners was his love of classic music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. He could quote every lyric and identify every tune! No one could out "Name That Tune" with Todd!

Todd was one of the best athletes of his time – and beyond. He was a standout athlete in football, basketball, and track at Auburn and Mitchell High Schools. Todd was such an amazing football player he was chosen to play in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl annual game and had many scholarship offers to play at the collegiate level. But, as great of a football player as he was, he was probably best known for the many accolades he received as a track athlete. Todd's senior year was a banner year as he was the Class B state champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and anchored the 4 x 100-meter relay. You can still see Todd's name on meet record lists across the state, and he held the state Class B record for over thirty years.

In his late teens, Todd began a decades-long battle with Schizophrenia. Despite the devastating disease's impact on his life, he remained loyal and engaged with his family. Todd loved his family and was a kind soul with a generous spirit. He followed all significant events in the lives of his nieces and nephews, including athletics, activities, marriages, careers, and the birth of his great-nephews. Todd's brave fight with this devastating disease influenced many family members' career choices and advocacy. The family hopes to raise awareness of the impact mental illness has on individuals and families and the importance of advocating for services to support those suffering from the effects of mental illness.

Todd is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Sonya (Vasquez) Gilliland, a brother Troy (Michelle) Gilliland of Fairview Park, OH, two sisters, Traci Gilliland of Scottsbluff and Tanya (Mitch) Carter of Castle Pines, CO, nieces and nephews Max, Zane, and Cecilia Gilliland of Fairview Park, OH, Hannah Gilliland of Lincoln, NE, Drew Gilliland of the United States Army, Drake Gilliland of Scottsbluff, NE, Lauren (Ben) Hahn, Paige (Adam) Frye, and Reid Carter of Colorado, four great-nephews, and numerous loving aunts and cousins.

Todd is preceded in death by his father, Terry Gilliland, his grandmothers, Ruby Vasquez and Elizabeth Gilliland, and grandfathers, John Vasquez and JR Gilliland.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

He was known to protect those who were treated poorly by others.All who knew Todd knew he loved the Oklahoma Sooners football team and reveled in watching The Big 12 match-up every year and was excited when there was a Big10 vs. Big 12 crossover game this year. He was even more excited that the Sooners were victorious. Equal to his love of the Sooners was his love of classic music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. He could quote every lyric and identify every tune! No one could out "Name That Tune" with Todd!Todd was one of the best athletes of his time – and beyond. He was a standout athlete in football, basketball, and track at Auburn and Mitchell High Schools. Todd was such an amazing football player he was chosen to play in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl annual game and had many scholarship offers to play at the collegiate level. But, as great of a football player as he was, he was probably best known for the many accolades he received as a track athlete. Todd's senior year was a banner year as he was the Class B state champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and anchored the 4 x 100-meter relay. You can still see Todd's name on meet record lists across the state, and he held the state Class B record for over thirty years.In his late teens, Todd began a decades-long battle with Schizophrenia. Despite the devastating disease's impact on his life, he remained loyal and engaged with his family. Todd loved his family and was a kind soul with a generous spirit. He followed all significant events in the lives of his nieces and nephews, including athletics, activities, marriages, careers, and the birth of his great-nephews. Todd's brave fight with this devastating disease influenced many family members' career choices and advocacy. Patricia L. Mink passed away at the Box Butte General Hospital on Sunday, November 20th, 2022.

Patricia was born June 9th, 1933 in College Springs, Iowa to Herbert and Bertha (Ripley) Lymer and lived in that area until she was 16 years old. The family then moved to Missouri in 1949 and began attending the Fillmore Church of God. It was here she met her future husband, Don Mink at their church youth group. The Lymer and the Mink families became good friends.

Pat graduated from Guilford, MO high school in 1951. Upon graduation, she moved to Maryville, MO and began working at the hospital and worked there for two years before returning to her family home to help her parents with the family farm.

In 1952, her future husband, Don asked her on their first date. He took her to a ball game and&nbsp;then to the Hornsbury Cafe where for $1, they had two burgers, 2 cokes and had 3 nickels left&nbsp;for the Nickelodeon.

Patricia married Don on August 15th, 1954 and they took up residence in Fillmore, MO. There&nbsp;they lived, worked and started their family until in 1959, Don felt called to ministry. They moved&nbsp;to Houston, TX so that Don could attend Gulf Coast Bible College. While there, Pat babysat the&nbsp;children of other students.

Upon graduation in 1964, the family moved to Thayer, MO to pastor a congregation. They&nbsp;served there until the end of 1970. They headed west with a move to Alliance, NE where they began and now continue to serve the Indian Mission Church of God. Pat served to the end of her life.

She is survived by husband, Don, children, Butch and Linda Abold, Charles and Debra&nbsp;Underhill, John and Mel Strasburger, and Nathan and Sara Mink, numerous grand kids and&nbsp;great grand kids. She is also survived by siblings- Francis Troth, Cheryl Christian, Judy&nbsp;Davison and George Lymer. She also had countless nieces and nephews that she prayed for&nbsp;and in-laws who loved her as their own.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Bertha Lymer, parent in-laws, Ewing &amp;&nbsp;Alma Mink, sisters - Shirley Wolf, Dorothy Hughes, and other brothers in-law and sisters-law.

The service for Patricia will be Friday, November 25th at 3 p.m. at the Eagles Club with a meal to follow. She will be buried at a later date in Missouri. A visitation will be Tuesday, November 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Ylander, 93, of Alliance, Nebraska formerly of Lindsborg, Kansas passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Box Butte General Hospital, Alliance, Nebraska.

Mary Ann was born June 6, 1929, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Theodore David Martin and Lola May&nbsp;(Luckey) Martin. She graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, Kansas. Ann attended and graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. While at Bethany College, Ann met her best friend and the love of her life Harry l. Ylander. They were married June 18, 1950. Their loving marriage endured for 70 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to all she knew.

Ann enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, knitting, playing the organ and piano for church and being&nbsp;a girl scout leader. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life in later years.

She and Harry moved to Alliance, Nebraska in 2020 to be closer to family. During her time in Alliance,&nbsp;she enjoyed making new friends with her fellow residents at Highland Park Assisted Living, watching just about any sporting event and learning about western Nebraska.

Ann is survived by her son, Dr. David (Kathy) Ylander of Alliance and daughter C. Anne (Chuck) Luedders of Black Hawk, Colorado, four grandchildren, Kevin Ylander, Becky (Kenny) Gehrman, Bryce (Laura) Ylander and Brandon (Mandi) Ylander, seven great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry l. Ylander and her parents.

Dell Raymond Clark, 83, passed away at his home in Alliance on November 19, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Dell was born October 3, 1939 in Crawford, Nebraska to Alvin “Pete” and Edna Clark of Marsland.

He attended grade school in Marsland and graduated from Hemingford High School in 1957. Dell was an outstanding high school athlete, and it was at a basketball game where he met the love of his life, Karen Gayle Robinson.

Dell described how thankful he was they met that day: “It is amazing what the touch of a hand can do to your heart. That is how I met the wonderful lady that God put here for me and He led us through a happy and wonderful life together.”

Dell and Karen were married at the First Christian Church in Alliance on March 9, 1958. To this union, four children were born: Delynn, Jeffrey (JR), Douglas, and Jason (Jake). They started their family in Alliance, raised them in Lexington from 1966-1976, and then returned to Alliance. Dell was the Quarter Horse president, a 4-H leader, baseball coach and started the Overton Roping Club while in Lexington.

Dell loved the cowboy way of life. A hard worker, Dell found joy in his work ranching, feeding cattle, buying and training horses, and a career as a Nebraska State Brand Inspector. He was an athlete in any sport in which he participated including football, basketball, rodeo, and baseball where he was a Legion player. He passed his love of these events on to his children and grandchildren teaching, coaching and cheering them on always with a lovable heart.

The accolades through his life have been numerous. Only God knows all the wonderful things he has accomplished and that is what was most important to him. Dell had a kind and pure heart and was grateful for his many blessings. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Dell is survived by his wife of 64 years Karen Clark, Alliance; son JR (Julie) Clark, Wellfleet; son Doug Clark, Denver, Colo; and son Jake (Kerin) Clark, Yoder, Wyo. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Jesse (Elizabeth) Cain, Lincoln; Jace (Susan) Cain, Corpus Cristi, Texas; Crista Cain, Hazel Park, Mich.; Wyatt Clark, McCook; Jaden Clark, Curtis; Madison Clark (Bryce) Doeschot, Firth; Kadra Clark, Yoder, Wyo.; and Kyler Clark, Yoder, Wyo. His five great-grandchildren are: Jax Cain and Brayden, Corpus Cristi, Texas; Rogan and Callum Cain, Lincoln; and Garrett Doeschot, Firth. Dell is also survived by his sister Donna (Clell) Riesen, Minatare; and his nieces and nephews and their families.

Angelina N. (Lone Wolf) White Face, 83, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at her home in Omaha, Nebraska.&nbsp;

She was born June 14, 1939 in Allen, SD to Felix and Jennie (Nelson) Lone Wolf.&nbsp;

On January 30, 1987 she was united in marriage to Tilden D. White Face. Angelina lived most of her life in Alliance while also living in Norfolk, NE and Omaha, NE.

Her survivors are children, Shirley (Schuyler) Dawn of Alliance, Donna Alvarado of Omaha, Larry Flood of Omaha, Tony (Joni) Flood, Ivyl (Kim) Flood and Richard (Angela) Flood of Alliance, Annette (Cecilio) Moreno of Lucio Blanco, Tamps, Mexico, Linda Flores and Jennie Tilden of Columbus, Donald Tilden of Omaha and Naomi (Arnulfo) Rocha of Lincoln&nbsp;&nbsp; She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Krystal Flood, her son, Mark Flood, her brothers, George Lone Wolf and Thomas Lone Wolf and her sisters, Julie Poor Bear, Katherine DuBray, Corrinne Barnes, Emma Monroe and Dorothy Tilden.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Indian Mission Church of God.&nbsp; Reverend Don Mink and Sister Linda Abold will officiate and burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. A one night wake service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

White Face. Angelina lived most of her life in Alliance while also living in Norfolk, NE and Omaha, NE.Her survivors are children, Shirley (Schuyler) Dawn of Alliance, Donna Alvarado of Omaha, Larry Flood of Omaha, Tony (Joni) Flood, Ivyl (Kim) Flood and Richard (Angela) Flood of Alliance, Annette (Cecilio) Moreno of Lucio Blanco, Tamps, Mexico, Linda Flores and Jennie Tilden of Columbus, Donald Tilden of Omaha and Naomi (Arnulfo) Rocha of Lincoln&nbsp;&nbsp; She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Krystal Flood, her son, Mark Flood, her brothers, George Lone Wolf and Thomas Lone Wolf and her sisters, Julie Poor Bear, Katherine DuBray, Corrinne Barnes, Emma Monroe and Dorothy Tilden.Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Indian Mission Church of God.&nbsp; Reverend Don Mink and Sister Linda Abold will officiate and burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Roselea was born at home in Bayard, Nebraska to Fred and Esther (Deines) Stricker on September 7, 1937. She attended country schools in Bayard until the 9th grade, where she attended high school in Bayard. In January of 1955, she married Leonard Feather. They would later divorce, they had 5 children. Leonard became a Government Service employee and was an ammo inspector. They lived in many places throughout the United States as well as living in Germany for 5 years and 2 separate tours in Korea. After their divorce, Roselea went on the get her GED and attended Scott Community College in Iowa, where she received 2 different degrees. She worked at the college until her retirement in 2001. After her retirement, she spent time with her family. Roselea loved to play cards and was on several different bowling leagues when she lived in Germany and Korea.

She is survived by her children Julie Feather, Scottsbluff; Curtis Feather, Seattle, WA; Philip Feather, Aurora, CO and Michael Feather, Gering; her sister Ramona (Frank) McHenry, Rapid City, SD; 2 grandchildren Shauna (Jeff) Neuman, Boyden, IA and Cory Ewing, Gering, NE and 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Patrick Feather, her grandson James Feather, her sister Doris Stricker and her brother Ken Stricker.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov 7, from 4-6pm at the church with a Rosary Service held at 6pm. Lorene was raised in Alliance, Ne. and attended St. Agnes Academy. She married Dale Newton on November 4, 1950 and they remained in Alliance until 1966. To this union four sons were born. Due to her sisters passing, they became guardians of 2 nephews, Bill and Joe McKenzie. Later she also helped raise the other 4 of her sister’s children. Dale and Lorene moved to Scottsbluff in 1966. She became a nurse’s aide at St. Mary's Hospital and then became head of the kitchen and dietary at St. Mary's. Years later she became head of the kitchen at Northfield Villa in Gering until her retirement. She and Dale traveled to Europe, Spain, Alaska and to Canada once a year for fishing. She was a great cook and had several special German recipes. Upon her sons urging, she had her own cookbook printed for family and friends. Rene always found a hobby, she did cake decorating, ceramics, crocheting, tole painting, sewing/quilting. She became a collector of porcelain dolls, violin bottles, salt dips, and especially frogs. Wherever she went she never passed up a quilt/fabric store. Sewing quilts became her passion and even bought a quilting machine. She has made hundreds of quilts, and every relative has at least 1 if not more of her quilts designed especially with their own style and or likes. She taught some of her great granddaughters how to sew and made a few quilts with them. In later years she kept sewing with her scraps and made Linus quilts for toddlers or youth and donated them to hospitals, capstone, nursing homes, etc. (at least 150) until last year. She is survived by her sons Robert (Nancy) of Gering, and James (Andrea) of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren Robbie of Scottsbluff, Jennifer (Eric) Dick of Brighton, CO. Amy (Cory) Hutton of Gering, NE. Heather (Moody) Compton of Norfolk, VA. Chris (Emily) Newton of Norfolk, VA. Jeff (Lauren) Newton of Chesapeake, VA. and Greg Newton stationed in South Carolina; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; nephew Bill McKenzie, as well as several other nieces and nephews who were very special to her. Rene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Rose and Helen; brothers Raymond, Leonard, and Richard; her husband Dale; sons Richard (Ernie) and Steven, and nephew Joe McKenzie. Lorene 'Rene' Newton (1933 - 2022)

Funeral Services for Jim Claussen of Chadron, Nebraska will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, Nebraska.

James Leslie Claussen was born in the Deadhorse community in rural Chadron, at the home of his parents, Herman J and N Hazel (Grantham) Claussen. He was the sixth child of eleven.

While in high school, he helped at the Chadron Sale Barn, and continued to work on sale days for 40 years. He also was employed at Henkens Implement and Eitemiller Oil. In 1946, he took on a rural mail route and delivered mail for 52 years.

He was an active member of the Chadron Elks Lodge. He was Elk of the Year in 1971, District Deputy in 1991, the Exalted Ruler in 1976, and again in 1986.

In 1947, he married Doris I. Geister, who passed away in 1981. In 1984, he married Bonnie E. (Fuchser) Goeringer who also preceded him in death in 2012. Later, he met a special friend, Dona, and enjoyed several years with her.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all 10 siblings: two infant siblings, Charles and Helen, Ramona Durham, Claywell, Marie Vance, Hollis, Catherine Baragar, Harry, John, and Dale. Also, his stepdaughter, Sheryl Hershman and special friend, Dona Fleming preceded him in death.

He is survived by stepdaughter Susan K. Brown and step grandsons Brian (Cyndee) Hershman, and Kevin Hershman, step-great grandson Dylan (Hayley) Cruz, all of Lincoln, Nebraska, and many beloved nieces and nephews as well as many lifelong friends.

A memorial has been established for the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department or Chadron Senior Center and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, PO BOX 970, CHADRON, NE 69337.

James Leslie Claussen (1926 - 2022)

Eugene A. Liebentritt of Crawford, Nebraska died October 30 at Ponderosa Villa of natural causes. He was “damn near 98”.

A Rosary will be held on Monday, November 7 at 6 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 8 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Arul officiating. Burial will be at the Crawford City Cemetery.

Gene was born December 18, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska to Magdalene (Tschida) and Adolf Liebentritt.

Most of his childhood was spent in rural Omaha working on the family farm growing produce. He graduated from Underwood High School.&nbsp; He entered the Army in January, 1949 and transferred to ERC (Enlisted Reserve Corps) in September.&nbsp; During his ERC service he was trained in counter intelligence as part of the transition from the OSS to the INR which coincided with the creation of the CIG to what finally became the CIA.&nbsp; He was fully released from service in 1954 after his father passed away to take care of the family farm.&nbsp; Through the rest of his life Gene did many things and owned multiple businesses.&nbsp; The diversity of them was rather amazing.&nbsp; Some of the businesses were farm implement dealer, bar owner, dairy farm owner/operator, taxidermy, and Crawford Lumber Yard.&nbsp; He worked as a truck driver, mortuary attendant, artificial inseminator, region salesman for farm implements, stagecoach driver, and sound engineer.&nbsp; Gene was known to be able to engineer or fix anything.&nbsp;

Gene and Elizabeth (Betty) Koerlin Yoelle were married June 7, 1958.&nbsp; They lived in several locations before Betty and Gene moved to and settled into Crawford in 1969, raising seven children. He was active in the support of St. John's Catholic Church, Chamber of Commerce, Crawford Public Schools, Crawford High Rodeo Club, and Rotary. Gene loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.&nbsp; He was also an accomplished horseman from an early age and a master gardener.&nbsp;

He is survived by his children:&nbsp; Lynne (Harold) Oswald, Cindy Leichtnam, Julie (Don) Erisman, Steve (Karen) Liebentritt, Joe (Carol) Liebentritt and Robert (Linda) Liebentritt: 23 grandchildren and 29 great- grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his beloved wife Betty, his parents, his siblings Clarence, Catherine, and Margret, daughter Carol, and grandsons Chris and Shawn Homrighausen.

Eugene A. Liebentritt (1924 - 2022)

Harold "Red" Croswell passed away on October 31, 2022 at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard, NE at the age of 87.

He was born on September 23, 1935 in Phoenix, AZ to Elbert and Evelyn Croswell. The family came to Colorado when he was 9 years old. He graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1953. After graduation he joined the Army and served during the Berlin crisis. He was a member of the Fort Morgan Fire Department and retired in 1985. He then worked in the cattle industry.&nbsp; The family moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 1986 where he worked for Midwest PMS, retiring in 2004.

On Sept. 29, 1963 he married Dorothy Ruppel. To this union 2 sons were born, Lynn in 1967 and Terry in 1969. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, bowling and playing golf. He also enjoyed his Coors beer!!

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy of Alliance, NE;&nbsp; his sons, Lynn and wife Sara of Aurora, CO; Terry and wife Brenda of Alliance, NE; grandson, Justin Saltzman of Alliance NE; granddaughter, Jenna and husband JJ Yates; and great grandson, Roper Yates of Thayer, MO; his sister, Rosalyn Croswell, of Brush, CO; and special friends, Cal and Dee Dixon of Kansas City, MO and their children, Bryna and Benn.

Harold 'Red' Croswell (1935 - 2022)

Carolyn Geneal Wozniak passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022 in her home with her daughter Carolyn and son Dana by her side.

Jill was born on June 20, 1936 to Leve and Freda Jones in Alliance, Nebraska. When she was small, they moved to Rushville, Nebraska. Growing up, she worked in her parents clothing store. In high school , she played snare drum in the marching band, and also competed individually earning superior ratings. Jill sang in the chorus and was in a trio and double sextet that competed at Girls State in Lincoln, NE. In high school, she also was class secretary, Pep club vice president, Band Treasurer and Ass’t Editor of the yearbook. After graduating, Jill was employed seven years at Stockman’s National Bank.

Jill married high school sweetheart Ivan Wozniak in 1957. To this union, three children were born: Carolyn Hollis (Steve-deceased), Denise Anderson (deceased) (Brian) and Dana (Denise) Wozniak.

In 1987, Ivan and Jill moved to Roswell, NM, where she worked for nine years as Branch Office assistant in Ivan’s Edward Jones office for nine years.

After Ivan’s death in 1996, Jill returned to Gering to be closer to family. Jill was fortunate to travel around Europe, Hawaii, Niagara Falls and back east to see the fall colors.

Jill’s faith and family were most important in her life. She was active in her church and loved her church family.

Jill loved golfing, playing bridge, gardening, music and playing piano. She treasured her many friends.

Survivors include her daughter Carolyn Hollis, son Dana (Denise) Wozniak, seven grandchildren, siblings Jim Jones, Jack Jones and Judy Thomas and nieces and nephews.

When she was small, they moved to Rushville, Nebraska. Growing up, she worked in her parents clothing store. In high school , she played snare drum in the marching band, and also competed individually earning superior ratings. Jill sang in the chorus and was in a trio and double sextet that competed at Girls State in Lincoln, NE. In high school, she also was class secretary, Pep club vice president, Band Treasurer and Ass’t Editor of the yearbook. After graduating, Jill was employed seven years at Stockman’s National Bank.Jill married high school sweetheart Ivan Wozniak in 1957. To this union, three children were born: Carolyn Hollis (Steve-deceased), Denise Anderson (deceased) (Brian) and Dana (Denise) Wozniak.In 1987, Ivan and Jill moved to Roswell, NM, where she worked for nine years as Branch Office assistant in Ivan’s Edward Jones office for nine years.After Ivan’s death in 1996, Jill returned to Gering to be closer to family. Jill was fortunate to travel around Europe, Hawaii, Niagara Falls and back east to see the fall colors.Jill’s faith and family were most important in her life. She was active in her church and loved her church family.Jill loved golfing, playing bridge, gardening, music and playing piano. Carolyn Geneal Wozniak (1936 - 2022)

On October, 25, Donna Ruth Parascand, passed away at age eighty-six at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

She was born to Coleman Walter Nay and Ruth Helen (Tiedge) on January 4, 1936 in Grand Island, Ne.&nbsp; She was the oldest of five. Some of her fondest childhood memories were of being in Cairo, Nebraska on her Aunt Lizzie’s farm.

In 1952, the family moved from Grand Island to Alliance where Donna graduated from Alliance High School after only one year in attendance.

She spent most of her adult life in Alliance, making lifelong friends.&nbsp; She did many different jobs and positions in her life. She often was promoted into management positions, she was very proud of that. The proudest job she ever had was being a mother of four, Michael, Mitchell, Michelle and Melanie.

Donna was an adventurous soul, in her younger years she loved to travel. Her adventures included Hawaii, Bermuda, and Mexico. Donna would proudly tell anyone that she was on a game show, and won it. She traveled across the states back and forth both flying and driving. California, Montana, Colorado, Texas, Maryland, Florida to visit family, and New York to visit Tony’s family, whom she cared about very deeply.

Those who knew her best would say the love of her life was Harry Belafonte. She saw him as often as she could in concert, however Harry wasn’t the only person she saw in concert; she had eclectic taste of music and she shared passion of music and adventure of meeting famous people with many friends and family.

Harry wasn’t the only famous person she met. She would probably tell you that she met Michael J Fox, Robin Williams, Gregory Hines, James Arness, Leta Ford, Joey Belladonna, Kevin Costner and a guard to Michael Jackson’s estate.

Donna is survived by four children and spouses Mike (Kenley), Mitch (Nikki), Michelle (Gianni) and Melanie, 3 of her younger siblings, Nola Smith, Coleman Nay, Michael Nay,&nbsp; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rosalie Saterberg, two ex-husbands, two stepsons, and her son-in-law, Jarod.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Memory Support Unit at Highland Park Care Center.

William B. “Bill” Adam, 82, died Friday, October 28, 2022 at his home north of Ashby.

Bill was born October 7, 1940 in Alliance, Nebraska to Bernard B. and Marie P. (Nissen) Adam.

Bill attended North Ashby Country School through 2nd grade, then went onto Ashby School through 8th&nbsp;grade, and graduated from Hyannis High School in 1958.&nbsp;&nbsp;Following graduation, Bill worked on the ranch before being drafted into the United States Army in 1963.&nbsp; Following his service, was honorably discharged in 1965 and returned to work on the ranch where he spent the rest of his life.

Bill was a 57 year member of the American Legion Post No. 57.&nbsp; He was also a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Master Mason.&nbsp; He liked old cars and enjoyed going to car shows when possible.

He is survived by his sister, Charlene “Sherry” Craig of Hyannis; his nephews, Larry (Milly) Craig of Hemingford, Randy (Amber) Craig of Alliance and Willie Craig of Kearney; and many great nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.&nbsp; Mr. Greg White will officiate.

William B. 'Bill' Adam (1940 - 2022)

Rick William Benda, 71, of Alliance, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at home after battling cancer. Rick was born on August 12, 1951, in Alliance, Nebraska to William and Beverly (Jorgensen) Benda. Raised in Nebraska, Rick was a 1969 graduate of Hemingford High School. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska, Kearney, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Pathology. He was a Speech Pathologist at the schools of Howells, Clarkson, Leigh, and Humphrey, Nebraska for 3 years. While teaching, he continued working toward his master’s degree at Wayne State College before moving home to farm.

Rick calls Hemingford his home. He lived and farmed there for 67 years before moving to Alliance, Nebraska.

Every morning he would start his day with daily devotions and prayer and from there his day would begin. Rick was always very goal oriented. His most important goal was to provide and protect his family. It was also important to him that he be a “good steward of the land.”

Rick devoted his life to being a husband, devoted father, and grandfather. He adored his wife, Gina, his children, Brian, Jeff, Matthew, Kristine and his eight amazing, talented, and smart (of course) grandchildren, Aiden, Austin, Zoey, Alexa, Karson, Kinley, Jacob, and Kate.

Rick is survived by his wife, Gina Bates Benda; his children, Brian (Kim), Matthew (Kristen), Kristine Sole; daughter-in-law, (Kali) and his eight amazing, talented, and smart (of course) grandchildren, Aiden, Austin, Zoey, Alexa, Karson, Kinley, Jacob, and Kate. He is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl (Edwin) Harms and Jody (Doug) Osler; and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews.

His son Jeffrey Scott Benda tragically preceded him in death on Thanksgiving Day, 2021.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 5th, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Alliance Berean Church. Pastor Glenn Johnson will officiate.&nbsp; The family will receive guests following the service from 12-2 at the West Side Event Center (formerly Alliance Country Club).

Richard Allen Geist, 81, died Friday, October 28, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.

Richard was born on February 15, 1941 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Jeremiah Clifford Geist and Alta Maxine (Casteel) Geist. He graduated in 1958 from Hyannis High School and worked in the area after graduation. Richard hired on to the railroad in 1963, started as a conductor with the Burlington and worked most of his career as a brakeman. He retired after 39 years of service in 2002. He was active in the union and served as local chairman. Richard enjoyed racing horses in the Sandhills and playing softball in his younger years. He also liked to take his family in the camper on fishing trips to the Sandpits and lakes around the area, including trips to Saskatchewan, Canada. Richard wasn’t much of a dancer but loved going to concerts with his wife, Rae Anne, and spending time (and money) at the casino at Rosebud. Richard worked hard so he could provide for his family and have time to spend evening’s playing cards with friends and family. Richard loved going to support his sons’ sports and activities when he wasn’t working. Richard was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

Richard is survived by his wife, Rae Anne (Rohrbouck) Geist, sons Rod Geist and his wife Teri (Herman) Geist, of Omaha, NE; Rich Geist of Salem, OR; and Russ Geist and his wife Rhonda (Hammond) Geist of Las Vegas, NV; by seven grandchildren, Zach Geist and his wife Caroline, Noah Geist, Seth Geist and his wife Madison, Bethany (Geist) Bohne and her husband Trent, Nick Geist, Shad Geist, and Sam Geist; and by two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Delores M. (Geist) Evans, and brother, Clifford M. “Butch” McIntosh, and brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah Clifford Geist and Alta Maxine (Casteel) McIntosh.

Richard Allen Geist (1941 - 2022)

Timothy John Barnes, Jr., 67, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport.

He was born January 13, 1955 in Alliance, Nebraska to Timothy J. and Corrine M. (Lone Wolf) Barnes.

He and his siblings grew up in Alliance where he attended school and received his GED in 1987.&nbsp; On January 6, 1989 he married Christina Gayle Puckett in Sidney, Nebraska.&nbsp; To this union three children were born, Corrine Barnes, Timothy III (Johnna) Barnes and Douglas Barnes, all of Alliance.

He worked several service jobs in Alliance before retiring at the age of 62.&nbsp; He had quit working prior to that due to health.
