Our beloved brother, uncle, and loyal friend, Tom Cyza passed into eternity on April 26th, 2022.&nbsp; He was born to Cliff and Lee (McCray) Cyza on April 8th, 1950, in Alliance, NE.

Tom enriched our lives to an incredible and unimaginable degree and in a seemingly effortless way.&nbsp; He loved without reserve and included all without reservation.&nbsp; He considered everyone the unmet friend whether at the pool hall, poker table, or horse track.&nbsp; Tom was a hard worker and thought we should all aspire to that same ethic.&nbsp; He was thankful for his service to the railroad and most proud of his fellow worker friends in all crafts.&nbsp;

He is survived by his brother; Jerry (Cindy), John, and Jim (Pam) and his sisters Joan (Ken) and Jean (Rich).&nbsp; Tom was especially proud of all his nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. And, we have to say, his life especially revolved around being much more than an uncle to Parker, Kennedy, Emersen, and Crayten.

Tom is preeded in death by his parents, Cliff and Lee, and a niece Anjanette.

A Rosary service will be held on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.&nbsp; The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 30th, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Matt Koperski officiating. A private family interment in Calvary Cemetery will be at a later date.

Memorials can be sent to St. Agnes Academy Foundation, Alliance Library and Spartan Baseball.

Tom Cyza (1950 - 2022)

Joan Letitia Maxwell Dockins was the youngest of three children born to Frank Donald Maxwell and Mary Letitia Kirkpatrick in Yonkers, NY, on October 24, 1945.

Joan grew up in Yonkers. She graduated from Gorton High School and attended college at Hunter and SUNY Oneonta.

Joan married Darryl Wayne Dockins in San Francisco, CA, on January 15, 1969. Joan had three sons: Matthew Wayne Dockins, Mark Jason Dockins (twins) born in San Francisco on January 8, 1970, and Michael Scott Dockins born in Yonkers on May 22, 1972.

With the birth of the twins, Joan and Darryl moved from Palo Alto, CA, to be closer to Joan’s family in Yonkers.

Joan spent most of her career helping companies relocate employees to new locations.

Upon retirement, Joan and Darryl moved to Alliance, NE. Joan became Associate Director of the Carnegie Arts Center until they moved in October 2012 to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

Joan loved her family, her cats, everything artistic (she identified herself as “Artsy One” on the Internet), clothes shopping (of course!), Smarties, music and reading in bed each evening. Each morning with her coffee she checked the weather and anticipated her outside activities for the day.

After a full life, Joan passed away at home on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Joan leaves behind her husband, three sons, two brothers, James Henry Maxwell and Peter Gilmore Maxwell, her daughter-in-law, Gwenola Marie Dufour Dockins, two grandchildren, Benjamin Claude Dockins and Gabriel Darryl Dockins and numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 4-5 pm at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082.

Joan Letitia Maxwell Dockins (1945 - 2022)

Dareld “Neal” Callan passed away on April 16, 2022 in Alliance, Nebraska at the age of 100.

He was born April 7, 1922 to Henry and Mildred Callan in Indianola, Nebraska.&nbsp; He graduated from Curtis High School and went on to attend the Nebraska School of Agriculture, graduating in 1941.

Neal enlisted in the United States Army in 1942.&nbsp; He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska and Antarctica.&nbsp; He entered as a medic, went on to driving heavy trucks to transport Army supplies and equipment in Alaska and Canada.&nbsp; He also served as a Military Policeman.&nbsp; He helped to build the Alcan (Alaska-Canada) Highway.&nbsp; Neal was honorably discharged in 1946.

Neal married the love of his life, Anita Unger, on October 12, 1947 (Columbus Day). He always joked that Columbus took a chance so he figured he would too.&nbsp; They were married 60 years.&nbsp; As a loving and devoted husband, he took care of her after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s until her passing 10 years later.

Neal worked for Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company for 38 years before retiring in 1985.&nbsp;

Neal had a love for the game of golf.&nbsp; He also loved kicking up his heels on the dance floor with his beautiful wife, watching his grandkids and great-grandkids play sports, and just traveling.&nbsp; He loved taking backroads just to see something different.&nbsp; Didn’t know where it would lead to, just knew it had to come out somewhere.&nbsp; Neal was also the Golden Glove Boxing Champion in the Welter Weight Class.

Neal was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Communication Workers of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Alliance Volunteer Fire Department and a WWII Veteran.

Neal was preceded in death by his wife, Anita, his daughter, Sharon Brennemann and his son, Randy Callan.

He is survived by his son, Ron (Cindy) Callan of Orleans, NE, his daughter, Sandy (Mark) Hissam of Alliance, his sister, Lila Zoltay of Firestone, Colorado and his sister-in-law, Marlene Unger of Apache Junction, Arizona.

He was the proud Grandfather to Carri (Jay) Redmond, Josh (Heather) Nason, Tiffani Hissam (Jared),&nbsp; Jami (Adam) Helmbrecht, Kori (Matt) Lentell, Chris Callan (Renee), Michael Horn and Jeremy (Charmaine) Callan and Great-Grandfather to Kinley, Samantha, Jaycee, Zander, Colton, Kowen, Nash, Addison, Bailey, Keinan, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Grace and Judah and the Great-Great Grandfather to Kylan and Kingston.&nbsp; He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his special golf buddies, Garry, Darwin and Tim.

His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Delores Grace Poole was born August 8, 1943 to Loren and Erma (Schultz) Poole. She passed away November 27, 2021 in Lincoln, Nebraska. 

Memorial Service for Delores Kicken and George Kicken will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10;00 AM at the Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth with Pastor Gary Graesser officiating. The CD music selections of “Amazing Grace” by Alan Jackson and “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack are to be played at the service. Elks Rites are to be conducted by members of Ainsworth Elks Lodge #1790. Delores was raised on the family farm at Osage, MN. In 1957, the family moved to Minneapolis, MN. Dee attended West High School there and graduated in 1961. After graduation, she attended Brown Business Institute and then went to work for North American Life Insurance Company in Minneapolis. Dee and her sister, Sharon flew out to Fort Lewis, Washington to visit their brother, Al who was in the service. While out there, she met George A. Kicken and they started dating. On December 22, 1962, they were married in Tacoma, WA. Their son Todd was born there. After George was discharged from the United States Army in 1963, they moved to the family ranch at Ellsworth, NE where their daughter, Dawn was born in 1965. In 1966, they moved to a ranch south of Ainsworth, NE. Because of a bad winter, they moved into Ainsworth in 1969. Dee first worked for an insurance company in Ainsworth, and then went to work at the courthouse and became a Clerk Magistrate and worked at that for 33 years, retiring on August 31, 2005. After their retirements, George and Dee bought a ranch south of Ainsworth where they spent the rest of their lives. Dee enjoyed ranch life and visiting with the neighbors on branding day. She did enjoy her time in the court system and also enjoyed her time with the grandkids along with gardening. Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George who passed away exactly one year earlier to the day of her passing; along with her brother, Albert Poole and sister-in-law, Berta Poole. She is survived by her son, Todd of Ainsworth; daughter, Dawn (Tony) Paulsen of Papillion, NE; two grandkids, Jacob Paulsen of Grimes, IA and Kirstie Paulsen of Chesapeake Beach, MD; sister, Sharon Andresen of Nevis, MN; brother, Curtis Poole of Robbinsdale, MN; brother-in-law, Lucien (Margaret) Kicken of Scottsbluff, NE; two sisters-in-law, Carol Wears of Lincoln, NE and Louise Poole of Nevis, MN; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Delores Grace Poole (1943 - 2021)

George A. Kicken was born May 26, 1938 to Raymond and Margaret (Klein) Kicken. George passed away on November 27, 2020 at the CHI Health-Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. He was raised on a ranch north of Ellsworth, Nebraska. George graduated from Alliance High School in 1956. In 1961 he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington. While there, George and Delores (Poole) were married. Son, Todd was born while there. He was discharged in 1963 and they moved to the family ranch in Ellsworth. Daughter, Dawn was born in 1965. In 1966 the family moved to the ranch at Ainsworth, Nebraska. Because of a bad winter, they moved to town in 1969.

George went to work for K-N Energy and they built their home. He worked for 22 years for K-N Energy when he retired and bought the ranch south of Ainsworth and went into partnership with son Todd. He loved ranch life. He looked forward to branding so he could visit with fellow ranchers and talk about his Irish Black Cattle, even if they have Angus. Family meant a lot to him. On school breaks he would go get the grandkids to bring to the ranch. When grandson, Jacob was four he taught him his numbers by reading the numbers on the cow ear tags. He taught granddaughter Kirstie how to rake hay. He was their PaPa. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Sandhills Cattle Association. George is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Kicken; and sister, Beverly Jensen. George A. Kicken (1938 - 2020)

Allen Alexander Morris passed away April 4, 2022 at Chimney Rock Nursing Home in Bayard, Nebraska.&nbsp; Allen was born February 7, 1951 to Donald and Mary Kate Davee Morris.

Allen married Lana Blue and from this union two sons were born, Alan Paul Morris and Aaron Alexander Morris.&nbsp; Allen would later marry Patricia Linnett they had one son Justin Allen Morris Bolinger.

He was a graduate of Alliance High and completed two year course in Aeronautics engineering in Cheyenne, Wyoming.&nbsp; Allen was fourth in his class. Allen loved to fly on weekends he would save his earned money from working at the Times Herald for that 15 minute blessing.

Allen played the drums and accordion he would get calls for a drummer from different small bands.&nbsp; He also enjoyed playing the accordion for residents at he the Villa Nursing home and he would play the congo drums for entertainment.&nbsp; He enjoyed listening to Jazz and had a very large collection from different artists.&nbsp; Allen had a great sense of humor he was always doing something comical in his mannerism in his dance or facial gesture.&nbsp; He was a funny man.

Allen had worked for Turf Rental as a Small engine Mechanics for several years.

Allen was a strong advocate for mental Illness awareness.&nbsp; he was a member a Cirrus House and did volunteering when he was able to do so he also was a spokesman at several benefits and banquets and was sent by plane to different locations. This was before Cirrus House had lost funding. He also enjoyed being a part of the Cirrus play house where they put on skits.

Survivors include his sons , Alan Paul Morris of Denver, Co., Aaron Alexander Morris of Gering, Nebraska and Justin Allen Morris Bolinger of Lincoln, Nebraska. Allen has two grandsons,&nbsp; Augustin and Landon.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brother, Donald Paul (Julie) Morris and his sister, Rebecca (William) Bowman. Allen was preceded in death by grandson, mother, father sister Nancy and longtime girlfriend Patricia Linnette

Memorials may be given to the Cirrus House in Scottsbluff.

Memorial services will be Friday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp; Reverend Don Mink and Sister Linda Abold will officiate.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Allen Alexander Morris (1951 - 2022)

Sharon Dexter, loving wife, mother and sister, joined the Angels in Heaven April 21, 2022. She was born June 22, 1956 in Gordon, Nebraska to Orvis and Peggie Johns.

Sharon attended Gordon Schools until 11th grade when the family moved to Chadron for her senior year. After graduation she attended WNCC School of Nursing where she graduated with an LPN degree. After graduation she worked in various nursing homes in the area for 27 years. In later years she drove Rail Road Taxi for 12 years before retiring.

On February 5, 1982, Sharon brought 2 tiny little babies into the world. Clifford and Crystal Burck. Those 2 little miracles kept her very active as she was going though nursing school. She enjoyed taking many family trips and spending lots of time at the lake. On October 22, 1995 her surprise baby boy, Jacob Dexter was born. The twins were not very excited at first to have to share their time with their Mom, but later would fight over who he acted the most like.

On February 1st, 1999 she was joined in marriage to Monte Dexter. With this marriage she also inherited 2 more daughters, Melissa and Michelle.

Sharon enjoyed reading, playing card games with family and friends, garage sales, baking Christmas cookies with her family, and watching the love of her life, Sam Elliot on TV.

On April 21, Sharon passed away. She joined her Mom, Dad and many friends in the Arms of the Lord. She is survived by her husband Monte Dexter, sisters Debra Ainslie of Chadron and Carolyn (Dan) Seidler of Alliance, her children, Clifford (Sarah) Burck of Alliance, Crystal (Cyndie) Burck Of Wichita, KS, Melissa (David) Long of Alliance, Jacob Dexter of Wichita, KS, Michelle (Andy) Adam of Alliance, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many family and friends.

Gene Lienemann, 93, died April 19, 2022 at Alliance, NE.

He was born November 17, 1928 in Norfolk, NE to Henry D and Emma (Wachter) Lienemann who farmed south of Randolph, Ne.&nbsp; Gene graduated from Randolph High School in 1946. His mother died as the result of an accident in 1944 and his father died of colon cancer in 1947. As a result Gene farmed for two years and then went off to school as he had planned before his father's illness.&nbsp;

Gene was working at a radio station in Sioux Falls, S. Dakota when the Korean conflict began and the South Dakota National Guard was activated. He became the Radar Section Chief of the unit that was deployed to Fort Richardson Alaska. At the end of his service he found employment with KSCJ in Sioux City Iowa until KSID came calling offering him a combination job as Chief Engineer and Chief Announcer. Gene got acquainted with the Wheatbelt Public Power District by repairing their two way radios evenings and weekends until a position became available that offered some interesting challenges. As a result he made the change and spent almost 40 years at the power district, the last 25 years as General Manager. In addition to serving on numerous Boards and Committees associated with the Rural Electric Association. He was active locally in activities associated with the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development. He also spent several terms on the Board of WNCC including a number of years as chairman.

Gene is survived by the love of his life, his wife Margaret, sons Ron and Barry both of Rushville, Indiana, four grandsons, and seven great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Shirley, and sister-in-law Mary Lou.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded by his son, Steven, his brother, Ron, his grandson Brian, and his nephew, Lowell.

Memorial services will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery

McKenzie Ann Pfeiffer was born March 13, 1996 to Rachelle and Brian Pfeiffer in Alliance, Nebraska. McKenzie passed away April 15, 2022 in San Diego, California.

McKenzie grew up in Alliance and was a 2014 Alliance High School graduate. She had a passion for music and art. Kenzie was smart, beautiful inside &amp; out, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Offering a helping hand to others was something that came naturally, and a beautiful sign of how big her heart really was. The love of her life was born to her December 4, 2017, Dahliah Ann Pfeiffer. McKenzie wanted nothing more than to be the best mommy and worked very hard to do that.

McKenzie is survived by her daughter, Dahliah Ann Pfeiffer of Alliance; her parents, Shelley Pfeiffer and Brian Pfeiffer of Alliance; and her brother, Alex Pfeiffer, who she loved and fiercely protected, of Alliance. She is also survived by her grandparents, Lue and Gene Nerland and Lois Pfeiffer, all of Alliance; her uncle, Jeremy (Stephanie) Pfeiffer and Aunt Jessica (Adam) Davies and their families; her half-sisters, Holly and Rachelle Zimmer; specials Aunts, Mattie Ingram, Rose Esparza, and Becki Gericke; and lots of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her uncle and Godfather, Mike Nerland, her grandpa Steve Pfeiffer, and her cousin, Ayden Davies.

Her celebration of life will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel. A reception will follow the services at the Alliance Eagles Club from 12-3 p.m.

McKenzie Ann Pfeiffer (1996 - 2022)

Services for Don Bolinger will be Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00am at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, NE.&nbsp; A Celebration of Life will follow at the Alliance Berean Church located at 1639 Emerson Avenue.

Don was the first born to John and Luella Bolinger.

Her graduated from Alliance High School in Alliance, NE. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.&nbsp; During that time, his father died suddenly and he came home to help his mother raise his younger sister and brother.

Don worked several different places through those years. While working at Electric Hose and Rubber, Don and Gretchen met and fell in love. They were married in 1977 in Alliance, NE.

Gretchen has three sons from a previous marriage whom Don raised as his own.

As a child, Don attended the Salvation Army church. At that time he asked the Lord into his life, but as many of us, he let that slip by and it wasn't until 1987 when he had a massive coronary that he knew God had something more in mind for his life.&nbsp; At that time, he gave full control of his life to God. He was very quiet about it, but studied daily searching for God's will in his life. Don was a member of Alliance Berean Church in Alliance, NE and also Grace Bible Fellowship in Yuma, AZ.

Don was always excited and joyful at the birth of each of his grand children. Family was important to him.

Don worked for BNSF Railroad as a machinist. Mostly in tool repair being known as "Don the Tool Guy". He retired in 2008 after 30 years of service.

Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister, daughter-in-law, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include wife, Gretchen, brother Bill (Pam) Bolinger, Douglas, NE; Sons Troy Moss (Stacey), Green River, WY; Mike Moss (Jennifer) Alliance, NE; Brad Moss (Maggie) Grafton, NE; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held at Grace Bible Fellowship in Yuma, AZ January 3, 2022 at 10:30am.

Donald Raymond Bolinger (1946 - 2021)

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness the family of Kathleen Mary (Swantek) Merrill announce the passing from complications of a stroke, our beloved and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend. Kathleen left her earthly bonds and burdens peacefully at home surrounded by loving family the evening of Monday, April 18, 2022.&nbsp; She was 77.

Kathleen was born November 20, 1944, in Genoa, Nebraska the 2nd of six children to Francis Joseph Swantek and Mary Florence (Ksizak) Swantek. She, along with her siblings, were born and raised in a farming family steeped in a strong, proud and faithful Polish culture and traditions. She attended grade school in a little one room country school that was heated by a big ole potbelly woodstove, and metal pail of cold water with a community ladle in the back of the classroom and an outhouse out back of the school. She attended Genoa High School. It was at a school dance that she met the love of her life Max Russell Merrill from the neighboring town of Silver Creek, Nebraska. It was during a double date, when her sister Margaret Ann, accepted an invitation from Max but only if he could convince his younger brother Paul Dean to be Kathleen’s date.&nbsp; Kathleen caught Max’s eye. Max and Kathleen were together ever since and on December 2, 1961. They were married in St. Rose of Lima Catholic church in Genoa and began their life’s journey of devoted love and adventure. To this union they had seven children. Timothy Dale, James Dean, Diana Lynn, Steven Joseph, Lisa Mari, Matthew Ryan, and Joshua Francis. Max was a lineman for the Union Pacific Railroad out of Columbus. In 1964 he began working for CB&amp;Q Railroad as a heavy equipment operator which brought them to settle in Alliance, Nebraska in 1968. In January 1970 they bought a little farm west of Berea to raise their "brood" as they often would say and that has been home ever since. Both mom and dad relished the opportunities and experiences of raising their family in the country. Kathleen spent countless hours cooking delicious meals from her legendary fried chicken dinners to her ribbon winning brownies and banana bread. She loved gardening and canning and was always excited to take her creations to the Box Butte County fair for which she achieved countless ribbons. She had an artistic hand with drawing and sewing. She played the harmonica. She was an avid reader often in the middle of three books at a time. She absolutely loved fresh garden tomatoes and strawberries, lobster and scallops. She had the strength, perseverance, and determination beyond compare. She was the only person we know that could squeeze 26 hours of activity into a 24-hour day. As the kids grew older, she added work outside the home. She worked for Woolrich, sewing coats, and Electric Hose and Rubber as a braider operator. It was her work as a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph’s Gerontology Center, Highland Park and the Hemingford Community Care Center that she found her true calling providing compassionate care for so many. In conclusion though, her greatest achievement, most cherished time was time spent with family. She would often say, “there is no greater pleasure in life than your family to love and a family you're loved by”.

Left behind to mourn and with memories to cherish are her children:&nbsp; Timothy of Hemingford, James (Michelle) of Brighton, CO, Diana (Shane) Zellaha, of Spencer, IA, Lisa (Phil) Breen, of Alliance, and Josh of Alliance.

&nbsp;Also, grandchildren MaKella Merrill, Miranda Merrill, Shayna (Zellaha) Ege, Alaina Breen, Philip Henry Breen III, Joslinn Merrill and Jenniveve Merrill. Seven great-grand children. Brother Mike (Jane) Swantek, of Salida CO, Sisters Julie(Steve) Plasek, of David City, NE and Jean(Bill) Dubas, of Palmer, NE. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Finally, her most devoted and loyal companion for the last 11 years her "little boy doggie" Paco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Margaret Ann, brother Christopher and grandson Tyson Zellaha.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Matt Koperski officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be Monday, April 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance.&nbsp; A rosary recitation and wake service will be Monday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be held at a later date at the Hemingford Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Regional West Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She attended grade school in a little one room country school that was heated by a big ole potbelly woodstove, and metal pail of cold water with a community ladle in the back of the classroom and an outhouse out back of the school. She attended Genoa High School. It was at a school dance that she met the love of her life Max Russell Merrill from the neighboring town of Silver Creek, Nebraska. It was during a double date, when her sister Margaret Ann, accepted an invitation from Max but only if he could convince his younger brother Paul Dean to be Kathleen’s date.&nbsp; Kathleen caught Max’s eye. Max and Kathleen were together ever since and on December 2, 1961. They were married in St. Rose of Lima Catholic church in Genoa and began their life’s journey of devoted love and adventure. To this union they had seven children. Timothy Dale, James Dean, Diana Lynn, Steven Joseph, Lisa Mari, Matthew Ryan, and Joshua Francis. Max was a lineman for the Union Pacific Railroad out of Columbus. In 1964 he began working for CB&amp;Q Railroad as a heavy equipment operator which brought them to settle in Alliance, Nebraska in 1968. In January 1970 they bought a little farm west of Berea to raise their "brood" as they often would say and that has been home ever since. Both mom and dad relished the opportunities and experiences of raising their family in the country. Kathleen spent countless hours cooking delicious meals from her legendary fried chicken dinners to her ribbon winning brownies and banana bread. She loved gardening and canning and was always excited to take her creations to the Box Butte County fair for which she achieved countless ribbons. She had an artistic hand with drawing and sewing. She played the harmonica. She was an avid reader often in the middle of three books at a time. She absolutely loved fresh garden tomatoes and strawberries, lobster and scallops. She had the strength, perseverance, and determination beyond compare. She was the only person we know that could squeeze 26 hours of activity into a 24-hour day. As the kids grew older, she added work outside the home. She worked for Woolrich, sewing coats, and Electric Hose and Rubber as a braider operator. It was her work as a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph’s Gerontology Center, Highland Park and the Hemingford Community Care Center that she found her true calling providing compassionate care for so many. In conclusion though, her greatest achievement, most cherished time was time spent with family. She would often say, “there is no greater pleasure in life than your family to love and a family you're loved by”.Left behind to mourn and with memories to cherish are her children:&nbsp; Timothy of Hemingford, James (Michelle) of Brighton, CO, Diana (Shane) Zellaha, of Spencer, IA, Lisa (Phil) Breen, of Alliance, and Josh of Alliance.&nbsp;Also, grandchildren MaKella Merrill, Miranda Merrill, Shayna (Zellaha) Ege, Alaina Breen, Philip Henry Breen III, Joslinn Merrill and Jenniveve Merrill. George Clair McNeil (1939 - 2021)

&nbsp; Jan Gauthier passed away on February 26th at his home in Nashville, TN. &nbsp;Jan was born October 24th, 1952 in Corning, Iowa to Gerald and Marilyn (Mayo)Gauthier. He spent his childhood in Corning before moving to and graduating from Central High School, in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1970.&nbsp; He attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned his degree in business.&nbsp; After college he moved to Alliance, NE and, following in his father's footsteps, began his lifelong career as a conductor and engineer for the Burlington Northern Railroad.&nbsp; Following his retirement, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2014 to be closer to his family. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jan was an accomplished guitarist and avid music collector. He was especially proud of his Rolling Stones Collection. He was happiest when playing one of his many guitars and he loved jamming with friends.&nbsp; Jan was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance, NE. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jan is survived by his father, Gerald Gauthier of Old Hickory, TN; sons Kyle (Lindsey) Gauthier of Henderson, KY; Gabe Gauthier(Gabby Hall) of Lincoln,NE; and stepson Matthew Johnson of Rocky Point, Mexico. He is also survived by his siblings; Lynn Foster, Nashville, TN, Laurie Berry, Old Hickory, TN and Ted Gauthier, Oklahoma City, OK, grandchildren Kylee and Hayden Gauthier, Gunnar Gauthier and step granddaughter Shelley Johnson. Darlene K Daugherty (Bauer), 81 passed away on April 13, 2022 at her home in Alliance.&nbsp; She was born on April 1, 1941 to Adolph and Mary Bauer in Bayard, Nebraska.

Her early years were spent in Bayard until her family moved to Alliance in 1951.&nbsp; She graduated from Alliance High School in 1959.

Darlene spent her life farming and ranching while raising 3 children.&nbsp; She was involved in all activities that her children and grandchildren participated in.&nbsp; She loved to travel taking trips to Germany, Ireland and Hong Kong.&nbsp; Darlene never missed her weekly lunches with friends and her Friday hair appointments.

She is survived by daughter; Kari (Chris) Adams, son; Doug (Jackie) Daugherty, 5 grandchildren, her brothers:&nbsp; John Bauer, Bob (Susan) Bauer, Jerry Bauer, and Roger (Jill) Bauer.&nbsp; She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her dog, Jessie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronald, and daughter Janelle.

There will be visitation on Monday, April 18 from 1:00-7:00pm at Bates Gould Funeral Home.&nbsp; Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Gideon Achi with burial following at the Alliance Cemetery.

Samuel Pedrick Jr., 100, passed away April 12, 2022 at Fort Meade Medical Center in South Dakota. Sam, the son of Samuel and Alma Pedrick, was born April 13, 1921 in Penngrove, New Jersey.

Sam was a WWII Veteran. He was stationed at Fort Robinson, Nebraska as a K-9 trainer, it was there in Crawford that he met and married Virginia Arner. Virginia passed away September 13, 1989. On January 11, 1993, he married Wilma Cunard Montana from New Jersey. Wilma passed away February 2, 2007. Sam lived most of his life in Crawford, Nebraska, some years in New Jersey and Delaware. Sam is survived by 4 daughters: Ginger Whallon (John), Sharon Lee Foote (Roy), Arlene Vandergriend (Bruce), and Sharlene Garrison (Tim); son Frank Pedrick (Roxann); 3 Step Children: Stanton Montana (Janice) Stephen Montana (Jo), Melanie Montana (Jack), 12 Grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. Sam had two brothers: Leonard Pedrick and Otis Pedrick who passed away and one surviving sister, Doris Wilson. A special mention of Chuck Mader and Cindy Zilinski. and so many more that Sam had input in their lives.

Sam had numerous entertaining life stories to share with family and the many friends he loved. He had a great outlook on life. Sam was able to help so many people with his knowledge, abilities, and caring heart. His life work consisted of ranching, carpentry, and construction. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. Family and friends have fond memories of him singing gospel songs in church, and playing his guitar and singing. He enjoyed breaking horses, his herd of cattle and fishing, which he did a lot of with Frank and family. We love, honor, and will deeply miss him!

Open house viewing will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Chamberlain Chapel in Crawford, Nebraska. A graveside service will be held at the Crawford City Cemetery on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM.

Dolores R. Hagman Boldon, age 95 died January 4,2022. Graveside services will be held May 7, 2022: 2 pm Hillside Cemetery, Oelrichs, South Dakota.

Dolores was born December 6, 1926 to Ruth E. Phillips and John L. Hagman. The eldest, and only girl, followed by five brothers! Dolores grew up in the community of Oelrichs, South Dakota and the edge of the Pine Ridge Reservation along the White River. During World War II, Dolores obtained a teaching certificate from Chadron Normal when she was 18 yrs. old, which enabled her to teach her youngest brother, Tommy.

Dolores married her wartime pen pal William Roy Boldon on June 12, 1946. To this union six children were born: Cheryl, Sandra, Roy, Clay, Cynthia, and Wayde.

Dolores returned to Chadron State College later in life, receiving her degree in 1978 in Social Work with an endorsement in Early Childhood. One of her proudest accomplishments was the part she played as the first director of the Children's Daycare at Chadron State College. She loved babies and young children. In the early 80’s Dolores purchased her own home and started her own licensed day care. She cared for many children, some from the time they were babies until they went to school—then you could always count on an after school snack!

Dolores loved to bake – cookies – cinnamon rolls – pie. She could be counted on to donate baked goods for any occasion. Dolores was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Elks Does, United Methodist Church of Oelrichs South Dakota, Chadron State Rodeo Club, and the Country Music Panhandle Jamboree. Dolores loved to dance – her favorite was the “Tennessee Waltz.”

Survivors include her children: Cheryl White, Sandra McMahan, Roy (Bunny) Boldon, Clay (Vicki) Boldon, Cynthia (Doug) Foster, Wayde (Sandra) Boldon. Grandchildren: Tobie (Pat) Copp, Heidi White, Hardin (Mandy) White, William Garth McMahan, Alexsandra McMahan, Breezy (Wyatt) Blome, Zane Boldon, Baxter Boldon, Will Boldon, Sheila Boldon, J.V. Glen Dale Ward, 94, passed away, Friday, April 8, 2022 at Highland Park Care Center.

He was born December 6, 1927 in the section house in Berwyn, Nebraska to Richard Ray and Katheryn E. (Smith) Ward.

He married Jessie M. Allen on December 13, 1947 at the courthouse in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Glen started working for the CB &amp; Q Railroad in 1948, which later became the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and retired from there in 1989.&nbsp; During his time working for the railroad he often acted as relief supervisor while they were on vacation.&nbsp; He rode all of the Alliance territory on a motor car, which included from Ravenna, Nebraska to Billings, Montana, from Alliance south and west to Wheatland, Wyoming, from Alliance south to Sterling, Colorado and from Alliance north to Deadwood, South Dakota.&nbsp; He also ran a track gang.&nbsp; Following his railroad retirement, he worked for ALCO, Bill Heitz’ service station and did various handyman work.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Ward of Alliance; his three daughters, Katheryn Herbaugh of Cheyenne, WY, Glenda (Doug) Pratt of Berea, NE, and Janet (Kevin) Votruba of Riverton, WY; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, 9 great-grandchildren and their spouses, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dixie Jensen of Holdrege, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 1 grandson, and 1 son-in-law.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp; Mr. Greg Carter will officiate.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alliance Eagles Club.

Patricia K Bauer (Bolek) was born July 27th, 1945 to Joseph and Edna Bolek in Rushville, Nebraska. Pat went to be with our Heavenly Father April 9, 2022.

Pat was raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska. She spent her early adulthood in Omaha before moving back to Alliance, Nebraska. There she started babysitting John Bauer's boys not knowing that he would become the love of her life. They ended up getting married August 16, 2002. Together they raised five children. After the children were raised she filled her time as a baker in the Alliance Middle School cafeteria until she retired. Then she enjoyed baking cakes and making her famous cinnamon ice cream for her loved ones. In her spare time she loved attending to her flowers and garden and driving John around the countryside. Pat attendant Heartland Baptist Church. This is where she found another family whom she loved blessing with her baking abilities.

&nbsp;Pat is survived by her John, children Billy (Diane) Taylor of Rapid City, South Dakota, &nbsp;Brenda (Terry) Croswell of Alliance, &nbsp;Barb Addleman of Kansas City, Missouri,&nbsp; Ben (Dana) Bauer of Alliance and Trabor (Brittany) Bauer of Alliance and 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren . She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Carolyn) Bolek of Gering, Nebraska, Lynn Bolek of Oregon, Joe (Judy) Bolek of Arkansas, Gary (Vikki) Bolek of Hemingford, Nebraska. Blythe Marie Boness was born on March 15, 2000, to Bill and Teresa Boness in Cheyenne, WY. Blythe passed away on April 10, 2022, as a result of a car accident.

Blythe attended school in Alliance and was a 2019 Alliance High graduate. Blythe was active in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She attended Chadron State College for two years and then enrolled in the nursing program at WNCC-Alliance. During her high school summers you could find Blythe at the Big Blue Bay life guarding and loving on kids. Blythe lived life with great zeal and passion. Her first passion was her family, her boyfriend Baily Hood, her dog Rip, her friends, sports, and the patients she cared for. Everyone Blythe was around became family or a friend. The Sandhills ranching community was very special to her and allowed her to find her latest passion riding horses, ranching, and all that entails.

Cindy Kay Post, 70 of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Chimney Rock Villa, in Bayard, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place. She was born in Grant, Nebraska on May 23, 1951, to Jerry and JoAnn (Berry) O'Conner. Cindy spent her earliest years in Elsie, Nebraska. After the early death of her mother, Jerry, remarried Lucy Vasa who became Mom to Cindy, who was the oldest of five girls.

Cindy graduated from Ogallala High School in 1969. She then sported a time work at Cramore Children Ranch. Cindy grew up around horses, as her Dad had a business of providing contract rodeo stock. Her favorite horse was a retired pick-up horse named Bob. She spent many happy hours riding out on the prairie. She was also a barrel racer. Her love of animals continued throughout her life. She raised horses, dogs, cats, and even a few hogs.

Cindy married Tim Post in January of 1970 at Bridgeport, Nebraska. They lived together on a farm northeast of Bridgeport. To this union, two boys were born: George Daniel (Dan) and Gerald Lance (Lance). She enjoyed spending her time raising large gardens, canning, and making banana and zucchini bread. She was remembered for her cowboy beans, chili, and cinnamon rolls. She liked being outside, working on the farm, and being a pioneer type of woman.

Cindy then moved to Wilsey, Kansas, where she raised her two boys, while working as a grocery store manager for over twelve years. During this time, she served on the city council and on the school board. She also was active in the school activities of the boys, usually contributing cookies to the occasion and she would fill in as a cook, if the one of the regular cooks were unable to come in to work.

Cindy worked hard, throughout her life, until a long term illness eroded her strength. Her personal motto was, "get to work and then work hard," whenever the problems of life came along.

In 1994, she and Dan moved back to Bridgeport, where they along with Tim survived a tornado which could be seen right across the road.

She enjoyed all things cowboy all of her life: music (Conway Twitty), western clothing, boots, TV shows, rodeo events, and books. She was an avid follower of political events. In her later years, she could be found spending afternoons watching the Senate hearings and other politically related shows.

She was preceded in death by Tim Post, infant grandson Timothy Post, her father Jerry, her mother JoAnn, and step-mother Lucy.

Wanda Gail Schaper passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Highland Park Care Center at the age of 78.

On July 21, 1963 she was married to Dwain Schulze in Alliance, NE and together they had 3 children, Carrie (Dave) Marcoe, Jackie (Mark) Carley and Dwain (Alex) Schulze, Jr.

Wanda worked at Neuswanger’s, Husky and Box Butte General Hospital.&nbsp; She enjoyed traveling, playing games, putting puzzles together and doing word search.&nbsp; She spent a lot of her life volunteering and being an active member of the Alliance Eagles Auxiliary No. 136 and the American Legion Auxiliary in Hemingford.&nbsp;&nbsp; She enjoyed entertaining people with holding card parties and family gatherings.&nbsp; She loved playing Bingo and square dancing, where she met Les Schaper.&nbsp;

On July 28, 1990 she married Lester Schaper and they lived in Hemingford where they joined families.&nbsp; She gained three more daughters, Kim Warner, Kirstie Backes and Tammy Shepherd.&nbsp;

Wanda is survived by her husband, Les, her brother, Don Jines from California, her children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, her first husband, Dwain, 4 brothers, 5 sisters and one grandson preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alliance Eagles Club.&nbsp; Rev. Tim Stadem will officiate and burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be Monday, April 11 from 1-7 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Wanda Gail Schaper (1943 - 2022)

Darren D Krull, age 54, of Elwood, NE, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, while in the line of duty serving his community. He was born to Gary &amp; Glenda (Wells) Krull on December 19, 1967, in Hastings, Nebraska.

Darren grew up in Glenvil, Nebraska and graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1986 and joined the Glenvil Fire Department. After graduation, he married his wife Cheryl (Stolley) Krull on March 9, 1990. Through this union, he gained three beautiful daughters: Tessa Sadd, Christina Davison, and Roxann Bieck. They resided in Glenvil when he joined the service and was stationed in Oklahoma. Eventually, they moved to Southwestern Nebraska where Darren ended up working for Aurora COOP. Here he enjoyed his time managing and serving the local community.

Throughout his life he dedicated thirty-six years to firefighting and EMT services where he was Fire Chief in the communities of Overton and Elwood for a combined eighteen years. Darren lived his life fully dedicated to helping, teaching, and serving others.

Darren loved traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandkids, and woodworking in his shop. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Ace which he taught to pray before meals.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Elwood; children Christina &amp; Christopher Davison of Bertrand, Roxann &amp; Brad Bieck of Aurora and grandchildren Clayton, Amber, Tristen, Skeet, Briley, Rhett, Brek, and Piper. He is also survived by his parents Gary &amp; Glenda (Wells) Krull of Glenvil, Sisters Michelle Harm &amp; Significant other &amp; family of Stratton, Amy Krull of Glenvil. His nephews Blake &amp; Kila Krull and Chandler Harm, and niece Katlin Harm and many other extended family and friends.

Darren was preceded in death by his daughter Tessa Sadd, grandparents Claus &amp; Grace Krull and Bud &amp; Maxine Wells, Uncle Mike Shaw, Aunt Janice Stahl, and cousin Scott Stahl.

 </figure>Darren D Krull, age 54, of Elwood, NE, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, while in the line of duty serving his community. He was born to Gary &amp; Glenda (Wells) Krull on December 19, 1967, in Hastings, Nebraska.Darren grew up in Glenvil, Nebraska and graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1986 and joined the Glenvil Fire Department. After graduation, he married his wife Cheryl (Stolley) Krull on March 9, 1990. Through this union, he gained three beautiful daughters: Tessa Sadd, Christina Davison, and Roxann Bieck. They resided in Glenvil when he joined the service and was stationed in Oklahoma. Eventually, they moved to Southwestern Nebraska where Darren ended up working for Aurora COOP. Here he enjoyed his time managing and serving the local community.Throughout his life he dedicated thirty-six years to firefighting and EMT services where he was Fire Chief in the communities of Overton and Elwood for a combined eighteen years. Darren lived his life fully dedicated to helping, teaching, and serving others.Darren loved traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandkids, and woodworking in his shop. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Ace which he taught to pray before meals.He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Elwood; children Christina &amp; Christopher Davison of Bertrand, Roxann &amp; Brad Bieck of Aurora and grandchildren Clayton, Amber, Tristen, Skeet, Briley, Rhett, Brek, and Piper. He is also survived by his parents Gary &amp; Glenda (Wells) Krull of Glenvil, Sisters Michelle Harm &amp; Significant other &amp; family of Stratton, Amy Krull of Glenvil. His nephews Blake &amp; Kila Krull and Chandler Harm, and niece Katlin Harm and many other extended family and friends.Darren was preceded in death by his daughter Tessa Sadd, grandparents Claus &amp; Grace Krull and Bud &amp; Maxine Wells, Uncle Mike Shaw, Aunt Janice Stahl, and cousin Scott Stahl.Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. The family of Chief Krull wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that has shown their love and support during this difficult time. A special thank you to all his firefighter and EMT family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Aaron Witt, officiating. Visitation will be held 4 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with family present. Burial will be in the Hanover Cemetery near Glenvil, Nebraska. Murray Wilson Funeral Directing of Hastings is serving the family with Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska assisting with the service.
