Gene Lienemann, 93, died April 19, 2022 at Alliance, NE.

He was born November 17, 1928 in Norfolk, NE to Henry D and Emma (Wachter) Lienemann who farmed south of Randolph, Ne.&nbsp; Gene graduated from Randolph High School in 1946. His mother died as the result of an accident in 1944 and his father died of colon cancer in 1947. As a result Gene farmed for two years and then went off to school as he had planned before his father's illness.&nbsp;

Gene was working at a radio station in Sioux Falls, S. Dakota when the Korean conflict began and the South Dakota National Guard was activated. He became the Radar Section Chief of the unit that was deployed to Fort Richardson Alaska. At the end of his service he found employment with KSCJ in Sioux City Iowa until KSID came calling offering him a combination job as Chief Engineer and Chief Announcer. Gene got acquainted with the Wheatbelt Public Power District by repairing their two way radios evenings and weekends until a position became available that offered some interesting challenges. As a result he made the change and spent almost 40 years at the power district, the last 25 years as General Manager. In addition to serving on numerous Boards and Committees associated with the Rural Electric Association. He was active locally in activities associated with the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development. He also spent several terms on the Board of WNCC including a number of years as chairman.

Gene is survived by the love of his life, his wife Margaret, sons Ron and Barry both of Rushville, Indiana, four grandsons, and seven great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Shirley, and sister-in-law Mary Lou.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded by his son, Steven, his brother, Ron, his grandson Brian, and his nephew, Lowell.

Memorial services will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery

McKenzie grew up in Alliance and was a 2014 Alliance High School graduate. She had a passion for music and art. Kenzie was smart, beautiful inside &amp; out, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Offering a helping hand to others was something that came naturally, and a beautiful sign of how big her heart really was. The love of her life was born to her December 4, 2017, Dahliah Ann Pfeiffer. McKenzie wanted nothing more than to be the best mommy and worked very hard to do that.

McKenzie is survived by her daughter, Dahliah Ann Pfeiffer of Alliance; her parents, Shelley Pfeiffer and Brian Pfeiffer of Alliance; and her brother, Alex Pfeiffer, who she loved and fiercely protected, of Alliance. She is also survived by her grandparents, Lue and Gene Nerland and Lois Pfeiffer, all of Alliance; her uncle, Jeremy (Stephanie) Pfeiffer and Aunt Jessica (Adam) Davies and their families; her half-sisters, Holly and Rachelle Zimmer; specials Aunts, Mattie Ingram, Rose Esparza, and Becki Gericke; and lots of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her uncle and Godfather, Mike Nerland, her grandpa Steve Pfeiffer, and her cousin, Ayden Davies.

Her celebration of life will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel. A reception will follow the services at the Alliance Eagles Club from 12-3 p.m.

McKenzie Ann Pfeiffer (1996 - 2022)

Services for Don Bolinger will be Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00am at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, NE.&nbsp; A Celebration of Life will follow at the Alliance Berean Church located at 1639 Emerson Avenue.

Don was the first born to John and Luella Bolinger.

Her graduated from Alliance High School in Alliance, NE. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.&nbsp; During that time, his father died suddenly and he came home to help his mother raise his younger sister and brother.

Don worked several different places through those years. While working at Electric Hose and Rubber, Don and Gretchen met and fell in love. They were married in 1977 in Alliance, NE.

Gretchen has three sons from a previous marriage whom Don raised as his own.

As a child, Don attended the Salvation Army church. At that time he asked the Lord into his life, but as many of us, he let that slip by and it wasn't until 1987 when he had a massive coronary that he knew God had something more in mind for his life.&nbsp; At that time, he gave full control of his life to God. He was very quiet about it, but studied daily searching for God's will in his life. Don was a member of Alliance Berean Church in Alliance, NE and also Grace Bible Fellowship in Yuma, AZ.

Don was always excited and joyful at the birth of each of his grand children. Family was important to him.

Don worked for BNSF Railroad as a machinist. Mostly in tool repair being known as "Don the Tool Guy". He retired in 2008 after 30 years of service.

Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister, daughter-in-law, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include wife, Gretchen, brother Bill (Pam) Bolinger, Douglas, NE; Sons Troy Moss (Stacey), Green River, WY; Mike Moss (Jennifer) Alliance, NE; Brad Moss (Maggie) Grafton, NE; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held at Grace Bible Fellowship in Yuma, AZ January 3, 2022 at 10:30am.

Burial at a later date in the Alliance Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, NE.

Donald Raymond Bolinger (1946 - 2021)

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness the family of Kathleen Mary (Swantek) Merrill announce the passing from complications of a stroke, our beloved and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend. Kathleen left her earthly bonds and burdens peacefully at home surrounded by loving family the evening of Monday, April 18, 2022.&nbsp; She was 77.

Kathleen was born November 20, 1944, in Genoa, Nebraska the 2nd of six children to Francis Joseph Swantek and Mary Florence (Ksizak) Swantek. She, along with her siblings, were born and raised in a farming family steeped in a strong, proud and faithful Polish culture and traditions. She attended grade school in a little one room country school that was heated by a big ole potbelly woodstove, and metal pail of cold water with a community ladle in the back of the classroom and an outhouse out back of the school. She attended Genoa High School. It was at a school dance that she met the love of her life Max Russell Merrill from the neighboring town of Silver Creek, Nebraska. It was during a double date, when her sister Margaret Ann, accepted an invitation from Max but only if he could convince his younger brother Paul Dean to be Kathleen’s date.&nbsp; Kathleen caught Max’s eye. Max and Kathleen were together ever since and on December 2, 1961. They were married in St. Rose of Lima Catholic church in Genoa and began their life’s journey of devoted love and adventure. To this union they had seven children. Timothy Dale, James Dean, Diana Lynn, Steven Joseph, Lisa Mari, Matthew Ryan, and Joshua Francis. Max was a lineman for the Union Pacific Railroad out of Columbus. In 1964 he began working for CB&amp;Q Railroad as a heavy equipment operator which brought them to settle in Alliance, Nebraska in 1968. In January 1970 they bought a little farm west of Berea to raise their "brood" as they often would say and that has been home ever since. Both mom and dad relished the opportunities and experiences of raising their family in the country. Kathleen spent countless hours cooking delicious meals from her legendary fried chicken dinners to her ribbon winning brownies and banana bread. She loved gardening and canning and was always excited to take her creations to the Box Butte County fair for which she achieved countless ribbons. She had an artistic hand with drawing and sewing. She played the harmonica. She was an avid reader often in the middle of three books at a time. She absolutely loved fresh garden tomatoes and strawberries, lobster and scallops. She had the strength, perseverance, and determination beyond compare. She was the only person we know that could squeeze 26 hours of activity into a 24-hour day. As the kids grew older, she added work outside the home. She worked for Woolrich, sewing coats, and Electric Hose and Rubber as a braider operator. It was her work as a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph’s Gerontology Center, Highland Park and the Hemingford Community Care Center that she found her true calling providing compassionate care for so many. In conclusion though, her greatest achievement, most cherished time was time spent with family. She would often say, “there is no greater pleasure in life than your family to love and a family you're loved by”.

Left behind to mourn and with memories to cherish are her children:&nbsp; Timothy of Hemingford, James (Michelle) of Brighton, CO, Diana (Shane) Zellaha, of Spencer, IA, Lisa (Phil) Breen, of Alliance, and Josh of Alliance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Matt Koperski officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be Monday, April 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance.&nbsp; A rosary recitation and wake service will be Monday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be held at a later date at the Hemingford Cemetery.

George Clair McNeil (1939 - 2021)

&nbsp; Jan Gauthier passed away on February 26th at his home in Nashville, TN. &nbsp;Jan was born October 24th, 1952 in Corning, Iowa to Gerald and Marilyn (Mayo)Gauthier. He was especially proud of his Rolling Stones Collection. Darlene K Daugherty (Bauer), 81 passed away on April 13, 2022 at her home in Alliance.&nbsp; She was born on April 1, 1941 to Adolph and Mary Bauer in Bayard, Nebraska.

Her early years were spent in Bayard until her family moved to Alliance in 1951.&nbsp; She graduated from Alliance High School in 1959.

Darlene spent her life farming and ranching while raising 3 children.&nbsp; She was involved in all activities that her children and grandchildren participated in.&nbsp; She loved to travel taking trips to Germany, Ireland and Hong Kong.&nbsp; Darlene never missed her weekly lunches with friends and her Friday hair appointments.

She is survived by daughter; Kari (Chris) Adams, son; Doug (Jackie) Daugherty, 5 grandchildren, her brothers:&nbsp; John Bauer, Bob (Susan) Bauer, Jerry Bauer, and Roger (Jill) Bauer.&nbsp; She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her dog, Jessie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronald, and daughter Janelle.

There will be visitation on Monday, April 18 from 1:00-7:00pm at Bates Gould Funeral Home.&nbsp; Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Gideon Achi with burial following at the Alliance Cemetery.

Samuel Pedrick Jr., 100, passed away April 12, 2022 at Fort Meade Medical Center in South Dakota. Sam, the son of Samuel and Alma Pedrick, was born April 13, 1921 in Penngrove, New Jersey.

Sam was a WWII Veteran. He was stationed at Fort Robinson, Nebraska as a K-9 trainer, it was there in Crawford that he met and married Virginia Arner. Virginia passed away September 13, 1989. On January 11, 1993, he married Wilma Cunard Montana from New Jersey. Wilma passed away February 2, 2007. Sam lived most of his life in Crawford, Nebraska, some years in New Jersey and Delaware. Sam is survived by 4 daughters: Ginger Whallon (John), Sharon Lee Foote (Roy), Arlene Vandergriend (Bruce), and Sharlene Garrison (Tim); son Frank Pedrick (Roxann); 3 Step Children: Stanton Montana (Janice) Stephen Montana (Jo), Melanie Montana (Jack), 12 Grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. Sam had two brothers: Leonard Pedrick and Otis Pedrick who passed away and one surviving sister, Doris Wilson. A special mention of Chuck Mader and Cindy Zilinski. and so many more that Sam had input in their lives.

Sam had numerous entertaining life stories to share with family and the many friends he loved. He had a great outlook on life. Sam was able to help so many people with his knowledge, abilities, and caring heart. His life work consisted of ranching, carpentry, and construction. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. Family and friends have fond memories of him singing gospel songs in church, and playing his guitar and singing. He enjoyed breaking horses, his herd of cattle and fishing, which he did a lot of with Frank and family. We love, honor, and will deeply miss him!

Open house viewing will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Chamberlain Chapel in Crawford, Nebraska. A graveside service will be held at the Crawford City Cemetery on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM.

Samuel Pedrick Jr. (1921 - 2022)

Dolores R. Hagman Boldon, age 95 died January 4,2022. Graveside services will be held May 7, 2022: 2 pm Hillside Cemetery, Oelrichs, South Dakota.

Dolores was born December 6, 1926 to Ruth E. Phillips and John L. Hagman. The eldest, and only girl, followed by five brothers! Dolores grew up in the community of Oelrichs, South Dakota and the edge of the Pine Ridge Reservation along the White River. During World War II, Dolores obtained a teaching certificate from Chadron Normal when she was 18 yrs. old, which enabled her to teach her youngest brother, Tommy.

Dolores married her wartime pen pal William Roy Boldon on June 12, 1946. To this union six children were born: Cheryl, Sandra, Roy, Clay, Cynthia, and Wayde.

Dolores returned to Chadron State College later in life, receiving her degree in 1978 in Social Work with an endorsement in Early Childhood. One of her proudest accomplishments was the part she played as the first director of the Children's Daycare at Chadron State College. She loved babies and young children. In the early 80’s Dolores purchased her own home and started her own licensed day care. She cared for many children, some from the time they were babies until they went to school—then you could always count on an after school snack!

Dolores loved to bake – cookies – cinnamon rolls – pie. She could be counted on to donate baked goods for any occasion. Dolores was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Elks Does, United Methodist Church of Oelrichs South Dakota, Chadron State Rodeo Club, and the Country Music Panhandle Jamboree. Dolores loved to dance – her favorite was the “Tennessee Waltz.”

Survivors include her children: Cheryl White, Sandra McMahan, Roy (Bunny) Boldon, Clay (Vicki) Boldon, Cynthia (Doug) Foster, Wayde (Sandra) Boldon. Grandchildren: Tobie (Pat) Copp, Heidi White, Hardin (Mandy) White, William Garth McMahan, Alexsandra McMahan, Breezy (Wyatt) Blome, Zane Boldon, Baxter Boldon, Will Boldon, Sheila Boldon, J.V. (Kitson) Boldon, Elizabeth (Clint) Hamling, Cassandra (Jason) Smith, Brandon Foster, Joshua Foster, Billy Boldon, Samuel (Lexy) Boldon. Fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way! Also, her brother’s Billy (Deloris) Hagman and Tommy (Nena) Hagman. Numerous Nieces and Nephews including Fred and Jolene Hagman, Scott and Vickie Hagman.

Glen Dale Ward, 94, passed away, Friday, April 8, 2022 at Highland Park Care Center.

He was born December 6, 1927 in the section house in Berwyn, Nebraska to Richard Ray and Katheryn E. (Smith) Ward.

He married Jessie M. Allen on December 13, 1947 at the courthouse in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Glen started working for the CB &amp; Q Railroad in 1948, which later became the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and retired from there in 1989.&nbsp; During his time working for the railroad he often acted as relief supervisor while they were on vacation.&nbsp; He rode all of the Alliance territory on a motor car, which included from Ravenna, Nebraska to Billings, Montana, from Alliance south and west to Wheatland, Wyoming, from Alliance south to Sterling, Colorado and from Alliance north to Deadwood, South Dakota.&nbsp; He also ran a track gang.&nbsp; Following his railroad retirement, he worked for ALCO, Bill Heitz’ service station and did various handyman work.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Ward of Alliance; his three daughters, Katheryn Herbaugh of Cheyenne, WY, Glenda (Doug) Pratt of Berea, NE, and Janet (Kevin) Votruba of Riverton, WY; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, 9 great-grandchildren and their spouses, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dixie Jensen of Holdrege, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 1 grandson, and 1 son-in-law.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp; Mr. Greg Carter will officiate.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Patricia K Bauer (Bolek) was born July 27th, 1945 to Joseph and Edna Bolek in Rushville, Nebraska. Pat went to be with our Heavenly Father April 9, 2022.

Pat was raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska. She spent her early adulthood in Omaha before moving back to Alliance, Nebraska. There she started babysitting John Bauer's boys not knowing that he would become the love of her life. They ended up getting married August 16, 2002. Together they raised five children. After the children were raised she filled her time as a baker in the Alliance Middle School cafeteria until she retired. Then she enjoyed baking cakes and making her famous cinnamon ice cream for her loved ones. In her spare time she loved attending to her flowers and garden and driving John around the countryside. Pat attendant Heartland Baptist Church. This is where she found another family whom she loved blessing with her baking abilities.

&nbsp;Pat is survived by her John, children Billy (Diane) Taylor of Rapid City, South Dakota, &nbsp;Brenda (Terry) Croswell of Alliance, &nbsp;Barb Addleman of Kansas City, Missouri,&nbsp; Ben (Dana) Bauer of Alliance and Trabor (Brittany) Bauer of Alliance and 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren . She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Carolyn) Bolek of Gering, Nebraska, Lynn Bolek of Oregon, Joe (Judy) Bolek of Arkansas, Gary (Vikki) Bolek of Hemingford, Nebraska. Blythe Marie Boness was born on March 15, 2000, to Bill and Teresa Boness in Cheyenne, WY. Blythe passed away on April 10, 2022, as a result of a car accident.

Blythe attended school in Alliance and was a 2019 Alliance High graduate. Blythe was active in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She attended Chadron State College for two years and then enrolled in the nursing program at WNCC-Alliance. During her high school summers you could find Blythe at the Big Blue Bay life guarding and loving on kids. Blythe lived life with great zeal and passion. Her first passion was her family, her boyfriend Baily Hood, her dog Rip, her friends, sports, and the patients she cared for. Everyone Blythe was around became family or a friend. The Sandhills ranching community was very special to her and allowed her to find her latest passion riding horses, ranching, and all that entails.

Numerous cousins and friends everywhere she went. Her aunt Bernadine Briggs preceded her in death.

Blythe's funeral service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Alliance Berean Church,&nbsp;1639 Emerson Ave, Alliance, NE 69301. Following the service there will be a gathering at the Eagles Club,&nbsp;1520 W 3rd St., Alliance, NE 69301.

Cindy Kay Post, 70 of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Chimney Rock Villa, in Bayard, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place. She was born in Grant, Nebraska on May 23, 1951, to Jerry and JoAnn (Berry) O'Conner. Cindy spent her earliest years in Elsie, Nebraska. After the early death of her mother, Jerry, remarried Lucy Vasa who became Mom to Cindy, who was the oldest of five girls.

Cindy graduated from Ogallala High School in 1969. She then sported a time work at Cramore Children Ranch. Cindy grew up around horses, as her Dad had a business of providing contract rodeo stock. Her favorite horse was a retired pick-up horse named Bob. She spent many happy hours riding out on the prairie. She was also a barrel racer. Her love of animals continued throughout her life. She raised horses, dogs, cats, and even a few hogs.

Cindy married Tim Post in January of 1970 at Bridgeport, Nebraska. They lived together on a farm northeast of Bridgeport. To this union, two boys were born: George Daniel (Dan) and Gerald Lance (Lance). She enjoyed spending her time raising large gardens, canning, and making banana and zucchini bread. She was remembered for her cowboy beans, chili, and cinnamon rolls. She liked being outside, working on the farm, and being a pioneer type of woman.

Cindy then moved to Wilsey, Kansas, where she raised her two boys, while working as a grocery store manager for over twelve years. During this time, she served on the city council and on the school board. She also was active in the school activities of the boys, usually contributing cookies to the occasion and she would fill in as a cook, if the one of the regular cooks were unable to come in to work.

Cindy worked hard, throughout her life, until a long term illness eroded her strength. Her personal motto was, "get to work and then work hard," whenever the problems of life came along.

In 1994, she and Dan moved back to Bridgeport, where they along with Tim survived a tornado which could be seen right across the road.

She enjoyed all things cowboy all of her life: music (Conway Twitty), western clothing, boots, TV shows, rodeo events, and books. She was an avid follower of political events. In her later years, she could be found spending afternoons watching the Senate hearings and other politically related shows.

She was preceded in death by Tim Post, infant grandson Timothy Post, her father Jerry, her mother JoAnn, and step-mother Lucy.

Cindy is survived by her children Dan Post of Bridgeport, Lance (Jennifer) Post of Tennessee, her grandchildren Angela Post of Scottsbluff, NE, Kelly Sharp (Jeran) of Kansas and Vivian Post of Tennessee and three grandchildren Jase, Lilly, and Annaleigh; her sisters Karen (Jim) Francecangel of Texas, Debby O’Connor of Bridgeport, NE, Micki (Dick) McConnell-Ross of Colorado, Jeri (Robert) Coffman of Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces and nephews

Wanda Gail Schaper passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Highland Park Care Center at the age of 78.

She was born November 7, 1943 in Alliance, NE to Jessie and Jennie Ruth (Long) Jines.&nbsp;

On July 21, 1963 she was married to Dwain Schulze in Alliance, NE and together they had 3 children, Carrie (Dave) Marcoe, Jackie (Mark) Carley and Dwain (Alex) Schulze, Jr.

Wanda worked at Neuswanger’s, Husky and Box Butte General Hospital.&nbsp; She enjoyed traveling, playing games, putting puzzles together and doing word search.&nbsp; She spent a lot of her life volunteering and being an active member of the Alliance Eagles Auxiliary No. 136 and the American Legion Auxiliary in Hemingford.&nbsp;&nbsp; She enjoyed entertaining people with holding card parties and family gatherings.&nbsp; She loved playing Bingo and square dancing, where she met Les Schaper.&nbsp;

On July 28, 1990 she married Lester Schaper and they lived in Hemingford where they joined families.&nbsp; She gained three more daughters, Kim Warner, Kirstie Backes and Tammy Shepherd.&nbsp;

Wanda is survived by her husband, Les, her brother, Don Jines from California, her children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, her first husband, Dwain, 4 brothers, 5 sisters and one grandson preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alliance Eagles Club.&nbsp; Rev. Tim Stadem will officiate and burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be Monday, April 11 from 1-7 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Wanda Gail Schaper (1943 - 2022)

Darren D Krull, age 54, of Elwood, NE, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, while in the line of duty serving his community. He was born to Gary &amp; Glenda (Wells) Krull on December 19, 1967, in Hastings, Nebraska.

Darren grew up in Glenvil, Nebraska and graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1986 and joined the Glenvil Fire Department. After graduation, he married his wife Cheryl (Stolley) Krull on March 9, 1990. Through this union, he gained three beautiful daughters: Tessa Sadd, Christina Davison, and Roxann Bieck. They resided in Glenvil when he joined the service and was stationed in Oklahoma. Eventually, they moved to Southwestern Nebraska where Darren ended up working for Aurora COOP. Here he enjoyed his time managing and serving the local community.

Throughout his life he dedicated thirty-six years to firefighting and EMT services where he was Fire Chief in the communities of Overton and Elwood for a combined eighteen years. Darren lived his life fully dedicated to helping, teaching, and serving others.

Darren loved traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandkids, and woodworking in his shop. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Ace which he taught to pray before meals.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Elwood; children Christina &amp; Christopher Davison of Bertrand, Roxann &amp; Brad Bieck of Aurora and grandchildren Clayton, Amber, Tristen, Skeet, Briley, Rhett, Brek, and Piper. He is also survived by his parents Gary &amp; Glenda (Wells) Krull of Glenvil, Sisters Michelle Harm &amp; Significant other &amp; family of Stratton, Amy Krull of Glenvil. His nephews Blake &amp; Kila Krull and Chandler Harm, and niece Katlin Harm and many other extended family and friends.

Darren was preceded in death by his daughter Tessa Sadd, grandparents Claus &amp; Grace Krull and Bud &amp; Maxine Wells, Uncle Mike Shaw, Aunt Janice Stahl, and cousin Scott Stahl.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. The family of Chief Krull wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that has shown their love and support during this difficult time. A special thank you to all his firefighter and EMT family. Malvin Sherlock (1952 - 2022)

Allen LeRoy Rask, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

He was born on December 19, 1951 in Alliance to Pete and Lil (Buchanan) Rask.&nbsp; Allen was raised in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School.&nbsp; He was an incredibly hard worker and worked for Dayco/Parker for over 35 years.&nbsp;

Allen had the biggest heart and always put his family first.&nbsp; This was especially true when it came to looking over his mother after his father passed away in 1983.&nbsp; His dedication to spending time with his mother was appreciated by all of his siblings.&nbsp; His kind and generous spirit were a great example for all of his nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. His favorite thing was just being with family.&nbsp; Allen also enjoyed going to the movie theater in Alliance and was always willing to share with his family about the movies that he had seen.

Allen is survived by his mother, Lil Rask of Alliance; his siblings, Karen (Tim) Kennedy of Gillette, WY, Gary (Geno) Rask of Arvada, CO, Cindy (Garry) Frank of Casper, WY and Kris (John) Funk of Casper, WY. &nbsp;He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Allen was preceded in death by his father Pete Rask, his sisters Connie Wait, Linda Johnston and Beth Burke and his nieces Angela Dolberg and Katie Mendes.

Allen’s family would like to thank Allen’s friends in Alliance for welcoming him by having coffee with him and inviting him to baseball and football games.&nbsp; It was obvious to all of us that he sincerely appreciated each and every one of you.

Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alliance Cemetery.

His favorite thing was just being with family.&nbsp; Allen also enjoyed going to the movie theater in Alliance and was always willing to share with his family about the movies that he had seen.Allen is survived by his mother, Lil Rask of Alliance; his siblings, Karen (Tim) Kennedy of Gillette, WY, Gary (Geno) Rask of Arvada, CO, Cindy (Garry) Frank of Casper, WY and Kris (John) Funk of Casper, WY. &nbsp;He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Allen was preceded in death by his father Pete Rask, his sisters Connie Wait, Linda Johnston and Beth Burke and his nieces Angela Dolberg and Katie Mendes.Allen’s family would like to thank Allen’s friends in Alliance for welcoming him by having coffee with him and inviting him to baseball and football games.&nbsp; It was obvious to all of us that he sincerely appreciated each and every one of you.Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alliance Cemetery.

Maria Hernandez, 82, passed away March 31, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital.

She was born in Cedral, San Luis Potosí, Mexico on January 17, 1940 to Miguel Rico and Maria Cardona. She was the oldest of seven.

Maria was united in marriage to Jose Jesus Hernandez in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, but most of all a wife. She immigrated to the United States in 1996 and has resided in Alliance since. Her time in Alliance was spent doing the things she loved like shopping, never being one to miss a good garage sale! She enjoyed cooking and uniting the family around the dinner table for a big bowl of menudo. She was a lover of clothes, jewelry, shoes, and all things fashion. She loved a good telenovela and believed an ice cold Coke could solve most of life’s problems.

She is survived by her seven children, Irma Hernandez of Alliance, Jose Luis Hernandez of Sidney, NE, Reyna (Greg) Jenkins of Rapid City, SD, Esmeralda (Gary) Werner of Colorado Springs, CO, Roberto Hernandez of Alliance, Jose Jesus (Miriam) Hernandez of Alliance, and Jose Miguel Hernandez of Sidney, NE.

She is survived by 13 grandchildren, Gerardo Peña of Lincoln, NE, Omar (Rachel) Peña of Sacramento, CA, Iris (Jeremy) Bishop of Alliance, Greg (Laurie) Burger of Alliance, Stephanie(Danny) Reynaga of Mitchell, NE, David(Melody) Burger of St. Louis, Missouri, Magaly (Samuel) Gonzalez of Mexico, Jose Jesus Hernandez III of Mexico, Anahi(Fernando) Gonzalez of Alliance, Jose Hernandez of Sidney, NE, Luis Hernandez of Sidney, NE, Analicia Hernandez of Sidney, NE, and Alejandro Hernandez of Sidney, NE, and 12 great-grandchildren, Vincent Burger, Liam Peña, Mackenzie Peña, Noah Reynaga, Samuelito Gonzalez, Jonah Reynaga, Adelyn Burger, Ellie Bishop, Amelia Reynaga, Vivian Burger, Camila Peña, and Karol Gonzalez. Harold Anderson, 91 of Broadwater, Nebraska passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at Morrill County Community Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Broadwater with Beverly Adam, PMA officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Broadwater with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel. Memorial donations can be given to Messiah Lutheran Church, Broadwater VFD or Bridgeport School’s Scholarship fund. Harold Freeman Anderson, son of Arthur and Esther Freeman Anderson, was born May 23, 1930 in Bridgeport, Nebraska. His Aunt Esther Anderson assisted in his upbringing after his mother’s death in 1931. Harold’s grandfather, Nils Anderson, settled in Morrill County in 1895, and the Andersons still own and operate the original homestead as part of Andy Company. The Anderson Family were charter members for Messiah Lutheran Church in 1935.

Harold attended school at “Welcome Flats” southeast of Broadwater, and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1948. He attended college in Fort Collins, Colorado, and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1950, before returning home to the family business. In 1952, Harold married Madelyn Coulter, whose grandparents were also Morrill County pioneers.

Through the years, Harold served on school boards, the Messiah Lutheran Church Council, and the Belmont Irrigation Ditch Board. He was a Director of the Abbott Bank, chairman of Area 12 Cattlemen’s Association, and an active member of the Broadwater American Legion for many years. Harold enjoyed golf, baseball, playing cards and reading, but most of all he loved his ranch and his family.

Harold is survived by his wife of 69 years Madelyn; his children Sandra of Pennsylvania, Douglas Anderson and Philip (Kay) Anderson of Broadwater; six grandchildren, Mark, Paul (Bryun and David), Kyle (Whitney), Justin (Kristine), Shannon and Collin (Lori); three great grandchildren: Crew, Rhys and Brooke; sisters-in-law Virginia Couter and Nancy (Ben) Younglove and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Nicole Dykman Anderson.

Harold Freeman Anderson (1930 - 2022)

Esther Jane Smith, known to everyone who knew her as Jane, was born on August 30, 1929, in Naper, Nebraska, to Julius and Grace Kortmeyer. Jane was the youngest of nine children. She passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022, at the age of 92 years at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs, NE.

&nbsp;She was proceeded in death by her husband Barney, her second born son Roy, her granddaughter Tabatha, twin grandsons Lewis and Lamont and all her brothers and sisters. Jane is survived by her son Ronald, daughters Renee and Rhonda, as well as grandson Lou Abold, great-grandson Jeremiah Morton, great-granddaughters Natascha Vollmer and Amber Pena and great-great granddaughter Azariah Pena.

&nbsp;Jane devoted her life to her family and friends, ensuring that her children were raised in a Christian atmosphere. She always greeted people with a friendly smile and a hug. Crocheting and baking were among her greatest hobbies. Jane worked as many as two jobs throughout her adult life while caring for her family and volunteering to baby sit grandchildren on her days off.

&nbsp;Jane will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Esther Jane Smith (1929 - 2022)

Dee Ann Lewis was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska December 25, 1951. She departed this life at Box Butte General Hospital on Friday, April 1, 2022 with family and friends by her side.

Dee Ann was raised in Custer County, Nebraska where she attended grade school at Copsey and Westerville and then graduated from Ansley High School in 1970.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where she played softball.&nbsp; Dee Ann remained an avid Husker fan throughout her life and has followed many Husker sports.

Dee Ann received her real estate license in 1977.&nbsp; In 1979 she moved to Alliance, Nebraska and became co-owner of Town and Country Realty.

Dee Ann was involved in community activities in Alliance and loved supporting sports and the arts.&nbsp; She loved the game of golf and was an active member of the Skyview Golf Course.&nbsp; Dee Ann belonged to the Panhandle Senior Women’s Golf Association and she enjoyed spending time with a special group of women on annual golf and gambling trips.&nbsp; Shopping was another of her passions.

Dee Ann married Joe Lewis on April 8, 1987 in Galesburg, Illinois.&nbsp; “Grammy Dee” loved spending time with her 3 grandchildren, and was very close to her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Dee will be remembered for her love of life, her love for her family, and her long list of friends.

Dee Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Phylbert Scott as well as Joe’s parents, Henry and Patricia Lewis.&nbsp; Dee Ann is survived by her husband, Joe Lewis; son, Joseph Scott Lewis (Carolyn) and their three children (Carter, Addison and Reid) of Fort Worth, Texas; her brother, Edwin Scott (Ruth) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sisters; Sandra Hock (Larry) of Cozad, Nebraska and Jean Ramsey (Don) of Aurora, Nebraska; brother-in laws, Mike Lewis (Cindy) of Raymore, Missouri and Greg Lewis (Judie) of Naples, Florida; and her sister-in law, Rebecca DeWitt-Earley of Cape Coral, Florida.&nbsp; She has 16 nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held Friday, April 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp;&nbsp; A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church where she was a member.&nbsp;

A reception with refreshments will be held following the ceremony at the West Side Event’s Center.

Michael Jay McDonald died at home surrounded by his family on March 30th. Mike was born in Livingston, MT on Dec. 15, 1952, to Kenneth J. and Melva (Evje) McDonald. 

Mike met the love of his life, Mary Langley, in Livingston, MT. They had three children: Amanda, Price, and Sarah. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad and relocated to Alliance, Nebraska in 1986. Following his retirement, he and Mary moved to Rapid City, SD.&nbsp; He enjoyed spending time with his family and favorite dog, Barney, golfing, playing BINGO, cruising the car lots, and perusing the TV section of Best Buy. He knew as much as Consumer Reports. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Mary, of Rapid City and children Amanda McDonald (Rob Schmidt), Price (Jessica) McDonald, and Sarah (Danny) Watt. His legacy he was most proud of are his beautiful grandchildren: Chloe, Cadence, Barrett, Mason, Olyvia, Lennon, and Graham.

Michael Jay McDonald (1952 - 2022)

Larry W. Davis passed away on February 26th, 2022 following a long battle with medical complications. A celebration of life service will be held on April 1, 2022 at the Alliance Berean Church at 2:00pm.

Larry was born in Sacramento, California on February 16, 1956, to Barbera Fay Ferguson and adopted by Gilbert L Davis. He was raised in an Air Force family and grew up in many locations including Germany, Alliance, NE., Colorado Springs, CO., Chandler, AZ., and Anchorage, AK. He met his lifetime love Gwen (Pokey) Jenkins in high school in Alaska. They both went to college in San Dimas, CA. where they were married one year later. Both graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in 1978. They were blessed with their only child Lydia Winter Davis on August 15th, 1979, in Alliance, NE.

Larry was a God gifted artist, whose natural talent was evident as a child. He had limited instruction, but great abilities encouraged by his parents. Even though he would have preferred working solely in the creative/artist field, he had various employment positions as a UPS driver, and grocery warehouseman besides graphic artist. The family relocated to southern California in August 1983 where they faithfully attended and served in the Lighthouse Baptist Church in LaVerne, CA. the entire 33 years of living in California. Larry was the Sunday School Superintendent for the last 20 years, as well as the only staff artist for the ministry. He worked as an inhouse artist in various print shops as well as a contracted graphic artist under his personal businesses, Davis Productions and later Davis Designs. Much of his work he considered his ministry, and he often didn’t charge for artwork as he considered it service to the Lord. He had a special love for mission work and personally travelled four trips to the Philippines.

 </figure>Larry W. Davis passed away on February 26th, 2022 following a long battle with medical complications. A celebration of life service will be held on April 1, 2022 at the Alliance Berean Church at 2:00pm.Larry was born in Sacramento, California on February 16, 1956, to Barbera Fay Ferguson and adopted by Gilbert L Davis. He was raised in an Air Force family and grew up in many locations including Germany, Alliance, NE., Colorado Springs, CO., Chandler, AZ., and Anchorage, AK. He met his lifetime love Gwen (Pokey) Jenkins in high school in Alaska. They both went to college in San Dimas, CA. where they were married one year later. Both graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in 1978. They were blessed with their only child Lydia Winter Davis on August 15th, 1979, in Alliance, NE.Larry was a God gifted artist, whose natural talent was evident as a child. He had limited instruction, but great abilities encouraged by his parents. Even though he would have preferred working solely in the creative/artist field, he had various employment positions as a UPS driver, and grocery warehouseman besides graphic artist. The family relocated to southern California in August 1983 where they faithfully attended and served in the Lighthouse Baptist Church in LaVerne, CA. the entire 33 years of living in California. Larry was the Sunday School Superintendent for the last 20 years, as well as the only staff artist for the ministry. He worked as an inhouse artist in various print shops as well as a contracted graphic artist under his personal businesses, Davis Productions and later Davis Designs. Much of his work he considered his ministry, and he often didn’t charge for artwork as he considered it service to the Lord. He had a special love for mission work and personally travelled four trips to the Philippines.With his health failing due to cancer and NASH cirrhosis they returned to Alliance, NE in 2016 to be near family. Upon returning to the Alliance Berean Church, they were blessed to find some of their earlier life friends were still where they considered home. He spent his last two years fighting the disease and working towards getting a liver transplant. He spent his final three months at the Presbyterian St Luke’s Hospital in Denver CO. Sadly the liver transplant was not meant to be, Larry remained faithful to the end trusting God’s will.He is survived by his wife Gwen “Pokey” Davis of Alliance, NE. father Gilbert L. Davis and wife Linda Davis of Alliance, NE; Sister, Ginger Davis-Consford and husband Earnest “Buster” of San Augustine, TX; Brother Preston Davis and wife Trudy of Jefferson City, MO; brother Wayne Davis and wife Tracy of Alliance, NE. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.Preceded in death by mother, Barbera Davis, daughter, Lydia Davis-Wise and son-in-law, Jeff Wise.
