Connie K. (Gericke) Leever, 78, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on February 2, 2022. Connie was born to Jack and Darlene Gericke on November 4, 1943, in Alliance, NE. The youngest of two daughters, she lived in Alliance for most of her life and graduated from Alliance High School. She was married to Sandy Leever on August 12, 1962. They had one child together, Sheila (Leever) Bacon. She moved from Alliance to Fort Collins in 2000 with Bill Carrell. Connie worked at K-Mart for many years in Alliance, NE. She also worked as a homemaker and helped with 4-H events while Sheila was young. Connie enjoyed reading, watching crime and mystery shows, and spending time with her family. Connie is survived by her special friend, Bill Carrell, daughter, Sheila Bacon (Larry), of Merna, NE, granddaughters Janice (Grayson) Lukasik of Florence, MT, and Sarah (Mark) Szakacs of Hyannis, NE, six great-grandchildren, and her dog Maggie. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Sandy, who passed in 1995, both parents, her sister, Darla Brestol, and her grandson, Spencer Bacon. Memorial services will take place at a later date. Larry John Debus, 83, passed away June 4,&nbsp;2022 at Highland Park Care Center. He was born at his home, in&nbsp;Torrington, WY July 14, 1938 to John and Frieda (Schlager) Debus. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1956. In his youth he was a member of the Wyoming National Guard. He married Karen J Blaylock on June 1, 1957. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. To this union 3 children were born.

Larry and Karen lived in Torrington until 1967 where he worked for Martindale Plumbing &amp; Heating. They then moved to Morrill, NE where Larry went to work at Platte Valley Plumbing &amp; Heating in Scottsbluff. He moved the family to Kansas for work purposes in the Fall of 1968. They then moved back to Northwest of Morrill in the Spring of 1970. In the Fall of 1973 the opportunity presented itself for him to move his family to Alliance while he was working for Modern Plumbing &amp; Heating. He was given the opportunity in late 1974, early 1975 to pursue his own business creating Alliance Plumbing &amp; Heating which was located at 504 Flack. In the early 80’s Larry went to work for the City of Alliance. He worked for the city water department for 7 years then went back to work plumbing with his son Brian until 2000 when he suffered a major heart attack which forced him into early retirement.

His entire life Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. They purchased a cabin at Lake Minatare in 1981. This is where the kids, grandkids and great grandkids enjoyed the lake and all it had to offer.

He is survived by his wife Karen of the home, sons Brian of Alliance, Brent of Gering and daughter Suzanne (Roger) Bedient of Alliance, daughter-in-love Lora Young of Omaha, his grandchildren, Paige Debus of Alliance, Kyle (Katelynn) Debus of Gering, Justin Debus (Jennifer Figueroa), Jessica Debus, AJ (Ammie) Bedient, all of Alliance, Kaycee(Katie) Bedient Mosley of Lincoln, Cherity Bedient and Evin Bedient of Alliance, granddaughter-in-love Amanda(Nick) Klever of St. Paul MN and his great-grandchildren, Leah Johnson, Anastasia Looser of Alliance, Lincoln &amp; Jenna Debus of Gering, Steven Long(Bedient), Addisyn &amp; Brecken Bedient of Alliance. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Huckfeldt of Sheridan, WY, numerous nieces &amp; nephews and his puppy Juliette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Karl Blaylock, brother &amp; sister-in-law Vern &amp; Joyce Debus, brothers-in-law, Phillip Blaylock and Fritz Huckfeldt, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karla and Harv Bartel, daughters-in-law Laurie (Stafford) Debus &amp; Nancy (Beiber) Debus, granddaughter Rylee Mae Bedient, numerous aunts and uncles, and his puppies Tinker, Mandy &amp; Sheena.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance, 515 Emerson with Russel Saito officiating. Cremation has already taken place and inurnment will follow in the Alliance Cemetery.&nbsp;

Dorothy Lucille Kirchhoff left our earthly world on June 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Her 92 years were filled with love, adventure, hard work, and proud moments.&nbsp; When a person thinks of what a full and wonderful life could be, one only needs to remember how Dorothy lived hers.

Dorothy’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Alliance, NE with the Reverend Tim Stadem officiating. Interment will be at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery near the Skyview golf course that Dorothy happily played at for many years.&nbsp;

Dorothy was born on June 6, 1929, in Scottsbluff, NE, to Fred and Marie Benzel. She had four sisters and one brother and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. Dorothy married her loving husband, Wally, on July 18, 1948. They were married for 73 years. On December 10, 1954, their son Kenneth was born. Dorothy was a longtime member of Saint John's Lutheran Church. Some of her favorite activities were going to church, golfing, square dancing, and playing bridge. She was an avid volunteer at Carnegie Arts, Box Butte General Hospital Giftshop, Hospital Auxiliary, Hilltoppers, she was a cub scout leader, served her church family, and also delivered Meals on Wheels. Many people will also remember her as a checker at the Jack and Jill Grocery Store.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Wally, and her son, Ken Kirchhoff (Nancy) of Fort Collins, CO, her grandchildren, Amy Reynolds (Andy) of Fort Collins, CO; Betsey Kirchhoff of Wellington, CO; and Brian Kirchhoff (Avery) of West Palm Beach, FL and her great grandchildren; Kayla and Allie Reynolds, Jasmin Kirchhoff, and Ryder Kirchhoff. She is also survived by her sisters Marian Schwartzkoph of Portland, OR, and Janet Bentley (Darrell) of Gering, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Fred; her sisters Eileen Jay and Caroline Groskoph, and brother Arthur Benzel.

Our family extends our love, gratitude, and appreciation to mom’s many friends, young and old, who were with her until the very end of her time here on earth. A very special thanks to Home Health, Hospice from Regional West Medical Center, Sally Bryner, and the doctors, nurses, caretakers, and other staff at the Box Butte General Hospital. Dale Wayne Fredrick passed away May 30, 2022, at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.&nbsp; Dale was born on August 4, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska, to Richard W. &amp; Lucille Jean (Coupens) Fredrick.

Dale graduated from St. Agnes Academy in May, 1965.&nbsp; He married Myrna Thomas and they are the parents of one daughter, Robi Ann (Fredrick) Heldenbrand.

After high school, Dale served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.&nbsp; Upon returning to Alliance, he worked various jobs in the community before he found his career job with Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in August 2007.&nbsp; Dale enjoyed many hobbies, including bull riding, rodeoing, being a member of the Snake Creek Snuffers, coaching football at his alma mater, and helping his friends with ranch work. His favorite hobbies were being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Robi Ann (Tod) Heldenbrand of Alliance, Nebraska; brother, Darrel (Shelley) Fredrick of Aurora, Colorado; Eric Lenz (son of his heart) of Edgewood, Washington; his grandchildren, Tristan (Brettni) Heldenbrand and great-granddaughter, Elliott, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Mattie (Shawn) Wilkins and great-grandchildren, Logan and Levon of Ada, Oklahoma; Matt (Desire’) Heldenbrand and great-grandson, Finnegan, of Universal City, Texas; Brandon Lenz of Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp; His sisters-in-laws; Linda Oak and Betty Jo Garett, of Alliance, Nebraska. He is also survived by his nieces, Sara Fredrick, of Milton, Florida; Misty Oak and Danica (John) Breen, of Alliance, Nebraska; his nephews, Rich Fredrick, of Aurora, Colorado, and Calob (Justina) Garett, of Hemingford, Nebraska; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna, parents, grandson, Brady Lenz, and brother-in-law, Glen Oak.

Dale’s wake service will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 7 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.&nbsp; His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at the church with Fr. Lou Nollette officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Nebraska Veteran’s Cemetery after the service.

Virginia was born on July 4, 1949, in Syracuse, Kansas. She was the daughter of Gerald (Jerry) and Norma Todd. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1968. On June 28, 1970, Virginia was united in marriage to the love of her life Freddie “Fred” Shoemaker. Together they had three boys; Troy, Travis and Trenton. Jinny was a member of the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary where she served as President in 1985 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

Jinny loved crocheting and spent endless hours making gifts for her family and friends. Jinny loved her grandkids and enjoyed every moment she could get with them. Grandma was a judgement free zone and loved each and every one of them unconditionally. They were her greatest blessing.

Jinny is survived by her sons, Troy (Laura) Shoemaker of Alliance, NE; Travis (Kristy), Shoemaker of Alliance, NE; and Trenton (Amanda) of Leander, TX; her grandchildren, Brooke Shoemaker, Hannah (T.J.) Aanenson, Keaton Shoemaker, Janaye Shoemaker, Kadin Shoemaker, Mason Shoemaker, and Madison Shoemaker along with her great-grandson, Noah.&nbsp; She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Yeager and Marla (Fred) Kober. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Jinny was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Shoemaker, her parents, Jerry &amp; Norma Todd, her sister, Karen Todd and her grandson, Dylan Shoemaker.

On May 27th of 2022, Chris D. McMains, loving son and dear friend, passed away at the age of 35.&nbsp; He was born January 7, 1987 in Alliance, NE to Tim and Tina McMains.&nbsp;

Chris loved to travel and see the world.&nbsp; In his free time, Chris was an avid gamer and developed many friends across the world.&nbsp; He was a volunteer at Good Samaritan and was recognized by NHCA as volunteer of the year.&nbsp; Chris was also a wonderful caretaker and dear friend to those he was closest with.&nbsp; He had a sharp wit and a unique sense of humor.&nbsp; He will be remembered fondly by his close friends and family.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Tim McMains.&nbsp; He is survived by his mother, Tina, and his sister, Heidi.&nbsp;

Waynard Bruce Anderson age 94, of Kearney, NE passed away on May 27, 2022. &nbsp;&nbsp;Memorial Service will be held June 3rd&nbsp;at 10 a.m. in the chapel at the Kearney Evangelical Free Church. Arrangements by Govier Brothers, Broken Bow and officiated by Pastor Tim Peterson of the Broken Bow EFC.

Waynard Anderson was born to John Wm (Bill) and Pauline (Polly) (Yeager) Anderson on June 4, 1927.&nbsp; He was 6th&nbsp;in a family of nine children and grew up and worked on the farm in Phelps County, for many years farming with horses.&nbsp;

As a young child, his family took him to Sunday School at the Emmaus and Holcomb Evangelical Free Churches. Then in 1944, the Holcomb Church hosted evangelistic meetings and out of 15 kids in their youth group, five of them including Waynard went forward to commit to follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

As a young man he participated in local rodeos and parades and taught Sunday School.&nbsp; While attending youth group activities at the Westmark church near Loomis he met a young lady, Maxine Holmes. She also liked horses and farm and ranch life.&nbsp; They married on January 22, 1950, right after the morning worship service at the Westmark Evangelical Free Church.&nbsp; At her passing, they had been married 66 years.

They lived in Phelps County farming and ranching for their first 25 years of marriage, while starting their family, three boys and a girl.&nbsp; He was involved in Cattle Feeder’s Association, the Funk Lion’s Club, 4-H leadership, and served on the school board at District R-5 and was an active member in the Holcomb EFC.&nbsp; He completed his education and became a certified cattle buyer and bought cattle for local cattlemen throughout the area for many years. Waynard also enjoyed being a rodeo stock contractor with his brother Ward, providing stock for local amateur rodeos as well as putting on their own rodeos.

Following the dream of ranching, the couple moved several times, first to Loup and then Blaine County, then to Montana on the eastern slopes of the Rockies and finally to western Nebraska near Alliance.&nbsp; They retired and relocated to Broken Bow in 2008. &nbsp;After suffering a fractured hip in January 2018, he moved to Mother Hull Home in Kearney.

He has always been involved in church ministry wherever they lived, serving as deacon, trustee and usher. He also was an active member of the Gideons. His favorite place to serve was usher and loved to teach young people in the church how to welcome and encourage church attenders.&nbsp; He also enjoyed cooking and serving men’s fellowship breakfasts.&nbsp; He always felt that two essentials in life were coffee and ice cream.

Survivors include his brother and wife, Ward and Connie Anderson of Elm Creek and sister-in-law Sharon Anderson of Elm Creek, and numerous nephews and nieces. &nbsp;Also survived by his children, Daniel and Wanda Anderson of St Joseph, Missouri, June and Eric Petersen of Kearney, Wylie and Janet Anderson of Kimball, and Brad and Joye Anderson of Albion; ten grandchildren with their spouses, 33 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, Lucy, daughter of Trent and Sophie Shell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maxine and his siblings, Marie (Win Johnson), Louise (Dean Hendricks), Wendell (Evelyn), Doris (Jim High), Farres (Floyd Lind), Roberta (Truman Streeter) and Leland.&nbsp; &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Gideons International.

Pericles (Perry) Theros, 57, of Mitchell passed away at home May 27th, 2022, surrounded by family after a battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 4 at 10:00am at Dugan Kramer in Scottsbluff with dear friend Larry McKey officiating. Burial will be at Mitchell City Cemetery. Perry did not want a traditional obituary and chose to write his own. The words below are his own.

I was born April 2th, 1965, to Theodorus (Ted) and Giannoula (Joanne) Theros in Bridgeport, Nebraska and grew up working on the family farm with my father and brother, Harrison. After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1983, I attended Chadron State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts for business administration and a minor in Ag business in 1987. I married Mecky Gray in 1989 and welcomed daughter Morgan in 1991. I would later meet my best friend and we made our home in Mitchell where we would welcome daughter Kenna Theros and where I gained two stepsons Michael and Kyle Wells. With one heck of a party, we married November 27th, 2021. I have worked for various places in the valley but always seemed to land back in agriculture in some form or another. With each place I worked, it was the friends I made, the relationships I would gain, and the shenanigans we would cause that I remembered the most. These relationships lasted long after the job did. I was never a fan of not having something to do. I liked to stay busy and didn’t have a problem getting my hands dirty. I liked restoring tractors that I could use in tractor pulling competitions with many great friends that shared this hobby. I liked making old stuff run again. I liked making something out of nothing, as long as it was metal. I liked working in the epic gardens Andrea and I would have each year. And having my shadow in the form of our grandson “helping” with whatever I was doing. I liked to have BBQs and Holiday dinners with family and friends. Fishing with Kenna, Michael, and Kyle. Dancing with Andrea. The father/daughter dances with Kenna and teaching her to drive in the pasture. Hunting with my brother and good friends. And learning how to surf out at Lake Minatare with Sharon’s school of surfing. These are just a few of the things that consumed my thoughts as I write this and although it was not always easy, I lived a good life, and it was because of all of you that shared that life with me. Thank you all.

On April 26, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to Constantine "Gus" Liakos. Shirley was a homemaker who dearly loved to spend time with her family.

She graduated from Broadwater High School in 1950. She served in the US Naval Waves from 1952-1953. Following her service, she attended several colleges pursuing interests in Dental Hygiene and Physical Therapy. Annamarie learned massage therapy and spent the rest of her life caring for others and using these skills to improve their lives.

She loved animals – especially her many dogs, goats, and horses. She also loved her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She would interact with them in special ways and gave them many memories of happy times. Above all, she was a good a faithful servant who loved her Heavenly Father.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan &amp; Pearl, sister Pauline (Dan) Neu, brother Loren Boman, sister Bernice Boman, and nephew Dennis Boman.

Annamarie Boman (1932 - 2022)

Wilma Kay Elder of Gordon, Nebraska, was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Wilbur and Frances (Tatum) Brockman on June 3, 1941.

After graduating from high school, she and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she was employed by Kresge’s Department Store.

While in Phoenix, Kay met a handsome young Airman stationed at Luke Air Force Base, named Bob Elder. On July 15, 1966, Kay and Bob were married and soon a daughter Christy was born and a couple of years later a son, Bob was born. Not long after they moved their new family to Durango, Colorado, then on to Hemingford, Nebraska and then to Spring Lake Ranch, south of Gordon, Nebraska. The family finally settled in Gordon, where Kay worked as a librarian assistant fat Gordon Elementary School or some years, before she was employed by Gordon Memorial Hospital in the home health care department until she retired.

Kay loved gardening in her spare time. Many evenings you could find her tending to her flower garden on the back patio. Her favorite flower were petunias, where several could always be found in pots on the front porch. Later in life she enjoyed watching football, especially the HUSKERS! Any chance she got to talk Husker football with someone was always cherished.

She was also interested in history and genealogy. But most of all she loved watching all four of her grandsons growing up.

Wilma “Kay” Elder passed away at home on May 25, 2022, just shy of her 81st birthday. Kay is preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Fran Brockman and her brother Jim Brockman.

Wilma Kay Elder (1941 - 2022)

Leslie William “Butch” Ouderkirk, 68, of Chadron, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly May 25, 2022 in Fort Garland, Colorado while on vacation.

Les was born June 5, 1953, the second child of Leslie “Bud” Ouderkirk and Alice Mae (Houser) Ouderkirk in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. While growing up he lived on his parents’ farm northwest of Morill, Nebraska until they moved into the town of Morrill in 1964. He obtained the nickname “Butch” from his family at a very young age and it stuck throughout his life. He attended Morrill public schools, graduating from high school in 1971. Les went on to Chadron State College, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1976.

Les served in the United States Navy from 1977-1983. After completing his service, he obtained his certification as a Medical Technologist and began his 35-year career in that field, retiring in May 2019.

On September 25, 2004, Les was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kimberly Dawn Bibbey, in Chadron, Nebraska. The couple met in 2003 and shared many happy years together.

Les was a Senior Active member of the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed helping people, especially his neighbors, spending time with family and friends, and his many hunting trips.

Les is survived by his wife, Kimberly, four siblings: Sharon (Jesse) Sotvick of Shoshone, Wyoming, Nila (Dan) Clifton of Casper, Wyoming, James Dean Ouderkirk of Springdale, Arkansas, and Scot (Lisa) Ouderkirk of Bayard, Nebraska. Also surviving him are his in-laws, two aunts, three uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding Les in death were his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and a nephew.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Congregational Church in Chadron, Nebraska.

A memorial has been established for the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel.

Michael Kenneth Hill, 76, passed Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

Mike was born in Lawrence County, South Dakota.

After 33 years with BNSF Railroad in Alliance, NE, Mike came back to the Black Hills home place he loved.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sue Hill; brothers, Albert (Jr.) Hill of California, Mark Hill of Deadwood; and longtime family friend, Gary Heaton. Mike loved all animals and is also survived by his feline companion PeeVee.

Mike's son, Dannon Hill and stepson, Paul Warner preceded him in death.

Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., June 1, 2022, at the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, with full military honors.

Michael Kenneth Hill, 76

Pauline 'Polly' C. Hays Hinman passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 with family present in Valley Springs, California.

Polly was born February 17, 1931 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Fred and Edith Fisher where the family farmed until 1938.&nbsp; In 1938, the Fisher family moved to Torrington, Wyoming and later to Scottsbluff, Nebraska.&nbsp; In 1950, shortly after graduating from Scottsbluff High School, Polly married John W. Hays and moved to Gering, Nebraska.

Polly was employed by Production Credit after graduation from high school and later by the Green Stamp store and United Buckingham Truck Lines in Scottsbluff. In 1965, Polly began her career with Scotts Bluff County; first working for ten years in the County Assessor’s office and later as clerk and Deputy Register of Deeds. Upon “retirement” Polly continued to work part time in the Register of Deeds Office.

Polly was a member of the Scottsbluff Does Drove #21 and served two times as President.

In 2012, after the passing of her husband, John Hays, Polly married Herbert Hinman.

Survivors include her two children, daughter Devon Curry (Gene) of Valley Springs California and son Randy Hays (Elaine) of Hudson Texas; 3 step children Linda Hinman, Doug Hinman, and Pat Hinman. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Valerie Mitchell (Brian), Stuart Hays (Katie), Melissa Smith (A.J.), Jesse Michael (Melissa); great grandchildren Thomas Anderson, Vaughn Mitchell, Willow Mitchell and Jace Michael.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and husbands John Hays and Herbert Hinman.

A Celebration of, Life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association. Pauline 'Polly' Hays Hinman (1931 - 2022)

Lawrence Joseph Moloney, Jr (L.J. Moloney) was born in Chicago in 1949 as eldest son of Lawrence&nbsp;Joseph Moloney, Sr., and his wife Agnes (neé Stark) Moloney. He was the&nbsp;eldest of a family that&nbsp;eventually included 6 children. His grandfather was a lawyer for the city&nbsp;of Chicago sanitation department and a precinct captain of the Democratic party.&nbsp; His father was working for Purex Corporation.&nbsp; In 1955, Purex moved its headquarters to Southern California&nbsp;As part of the corporate reorganization, Lawrence Joseph Moloney Sr. was promoted and Purex moved him and the family to Whittier, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. The mid 50’s was a great time to be a kid in Southern California. There were lots of kids, three houses either side of his and across the street contained more than 23 kids most of them boys between the ages of 8 and 3. They played pickup sports games constantly, especially football, basketball, and baseball. L.J. had a lifetime of pure fun through his late teens.

L.J. attended grammar school at St. Gregory the Great Elementary with his brothers and sister. In 5th grade, he got a job delivering newspapers for the East Whittier Review, and made between $8 and $9 a month which in the day of nickel candy bars and dime soda was not bad. L.J. was an altar boy for St. Gregory the Great Parish. Mass was in Latin then and the altar boy had to know the responses because the altar boy spoke for the people. He served mass at 6:30 AM almost every day for 4 years. He served at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Devotions on Wednesday nights, Station of the Cross on Friday during Lent, weddings, which were always good for a tip, and funerals which were grim affairs.

L.J. attended St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, CA, and was an offensive lineman for the St Paul Swordsmen Football Team. He attended Rio Hondo Community College in Whittier, California and continued to play football as an offensive lineman at the college level and earned his two year degree.

He transferred to University of San Francisco for a year, where he also played football. During his college years, L.J. coached basketball at St Gregory Parish, and coached youth baseball for the maverick little league in Whittier.

Around 1974-1975 L.J. enrolled at California State University at Humboldt (CSHU) (Humboldt State) in an attempt to finish his degree but needed to earn money to pay for it. He went job hunting to earn enough money to go back to College, and through connections with friends he moved to Denver, Colorado seeking employment. Through a job service in Denver, Colorado, L.J was offered a job on the Burlington Northern Railroad in Upton, Wyoming. He took the job, worked in the bunk cars, became a camp tender, and gradually came to realize that he thought working on the railroad was a ton of fun.

L.J. returned to Humboldt State for winter quarter 1975 and while studying at Humboldt State he met and began a relationship with Linda Jean Moore, who was also attending Humboldt State. L.J. and Linda continued correspondence for several years while L.J. was alternately attending college and working for the railroad in Wyoming and Nebraska. L.J. eventually gave up the idea of finishing his degree at Humboldt State, in favor of the steady income, physical work and everyday problem-solving of the railroad. Linda chose to follow him out to Nebraska, and they married in 1979 in Crawford.

L.J. worked for Burlington Northern, which eventually became Burlington Northern – Santa Fe, and then BNSF, for about 35 years. He built track across eastern Wyoming and Western Nebraska, became foreman of a bunk car gang, and eventually a Roadmaster and finally a track inspector. Between 1979 and 1985 L.J. and Linda spent time living in Crawford, Nebraska, Wymore, Nebraska, and St. Joseph, Missouri.

In 1986, due to a reorganization of the railroad around St. Joseph, L.J.’s job was eliminated, and the railroad offered him a choice of transfer locations. L.J. and Linda chose to move back to Crawford Nebraska, because Crawford was where he had the most fun in his previous detours. They purchased a house on Fourth Street, and soon after conceived a son, Timothy Paul Moloney, who was born on January 2, 1987.

L.J. loved being a father and he was a great fit for the role. He was big, strong, only a little bit dirty, gruff but gentle, coarse yet caring, a firm hand and he knew how to challenge a person just enough to make them grow. He was a child’s dream as a father, he always had time, he would always make time, and he was very much the man of the house.

Crawford was his vision of paradise, and he worked hard to serve his community. He headed the Crawford Baseball Association for about a decade between 1990 and 2000, arranged construction of new baseball fields after the 1991 flood damaged the old fields, and coached teams in the local league and traveled to regional tournaments. He coached 5 th and 6 th grade basketball for several years. He became Mayor of Crawford in 1994 and served 3 terms. During his time as mayor he arranged major upgrades to the city water system and sanitary treatment facility. L.J. retired from the railroad in 2010 and spent the final decade of his life traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching sports on TV and live. One of his favorite trips was to go to spring training in Arizona.

He passed at home on the evening May 13 th , 2022. He is survived by his wife Linda (neé Moore), son Tim Moloney with his wife Claire, and grandchildren Ceci, Silas and Sage. Also by his sister Mary Moloney and brothers Jim (wife Marcia), GP (wife Ameé), Michael (wife Kathie), and Ed, plus their progeny.

A funeral service for LJ Moloney will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Crawford at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 24th. There will also be a Rosary service dedicated to LJ at 6 PM on Monday, May 23rd.

 </figure>Lawrence Joseph Moloney, Jr (L.J. Moloney) was born in Chicago in 1949 as eldest son of Lawrence&nbsp;Joseph Moloney, Sr., and his wife Agnes (neé Stark) Moloney. He was the&nbsp;eldest of a family that&nbsp;eventually included 6 children. His grandfather was a lawyer for the city&nbsp;of Chicago sanitation department and a precinct captain of the Democratic party.&nbsp; His father was working for Purex Corporation.&nbsp; In 1955, Purex moved its headquarters to Southern California&nbsp;As part of the corporate reorganization, Lawrence Joseph Moloney Sr. was promoted and Purex moved him and the family to Whittier, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. The mid 50’s was a great time to be a kid in Southern California. There were lots of kids, three houses either side of his and across the street contained more than 23 kids most of them boys between the ages of 8 and 3. They played pickup sports games constantly, especially football, basketball, and baseball. L.J. had a lifetime of pure fun through his late teens.L.J. attended grammar school at St. Gregory the Great Elementary with his brothers and sister. In 5th grade, he got a job delivering newspapers for the East Whittier Review, and made between $8 and $9 a month which in the day of nickel candy bars and dime soda was not bad. L.J. was an altar boy for St. Gregory the Great Parish. Mass was in Latin then and the altar boy had to know the responses because the altar boy spoke for the people. He served mass at 6:30 AM almost every day for 4 years. He served at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Devotions on Wednesday nights, Station of the Cross on Friday during Lent, weddings, which were always good for a tip, and funerals which were grim affairs.L.J. attended St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, CA, and was an offensive lineman for the St Paul Swordsmen Football Team. He attended Rio Hondo Community College in Whittier, California and continued to play football as an offensive lineman at the college level and earned his two year degree.He transferred to University of San Francisco for a year, where he also played football. During his college years, L.J. coached basketball at St Gregory Parish, and coached youth baseball for the maverick little league in Whittier.Around 1974-1975 L.J. enrolled at California State University at Humboldt (CSHU) (Humboldt State) in an attempt to finish his degree but needed to earn money to pay for it. He went job hunting to earn enough money to go back to College, and through connections with friends he moved to Denver, Colorado seeking employment. Through a job service in Denver, Colorado, L.J was offered a job on the Burlington Northern Railroad in Upton, Wyoming. He took the job, worked in the bunk cars, became a camp tender, and gradually came to realize that he thought working on the railroad was a ton of fun.L.J. returned to Humboldt State for winter quarter 1975 and while studying at Humboldt State he met and began a relationship with Linda Jean Moore, who was also attending Humboldt State. L.J. and Linda continued correspondence for several years while L.J. was alternately attending college and working for the railroad in Wyoming and Nebraska. L.J. eventually gave up the idea of finishing his degree at Humboldt State, in favor of the steady income, physical work and everyday problem-solving of the railroad. Linda chose to follow him out to Nebraska, and they married in 1979 in Crawford.L.J. worked for Burlington Northern, which eventually became Burlington Northern – Santa Fe, and then BNSF, for about 35 years. He built track across eastern Wyoming and Western Nebraska, became foreman of a bunk car gang, and eventually a Roadmaster and finally a track inspector. Between 1979 and 1985 L.J. and Linda spent time living in Crawford, Nebraska, Wymore, Nebraska, and St. Joseph, Missouri.In 1986, due to a reorganization of the railroad around St. Joseph, L.J.’s job was eliminated, and the railroad offered him a choice of transfer locations. L.J. and Linda chose to move back to Crawford Nebraska, because Crawford was where he had the most fun in his previous detours. They purchased a house on Fourth Street, and soon after conceived a son, Timothy Paul Moloney, who was born on January 2, 1987.L.J. loved being a father and he was a great fit for the role. He was big, strong, only a little bit dirty, gruff but gentle, coarse yet caring, a firm hand and he knew how to challenge a person just enough to make them grow. He was a child’s dream as a father, he always had time, he would always make time, and he was very much the man of the house.Crawford was his vision of paradise, and he worked hard to serve his community. He headed the Crawford Baseball Association for about a decade between 1990 and 2000, arranged construction of new baseball fields after the 1991 flood damaged the old fields, and coached teams in the local league and traveled to regional tournaments. He coached 5 th and 6 th grade basketball for several years. He became Mayor of Crawford in 1994 and served 3 terms. During his time as mayor he arranged major upgrades to the city water system and sanitary treatment facility. L.J. retired from the railroad in 2010 and spent the final decade of his life traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching sports on TV and live. One of his favorite trips was to go to spring training in Arizona.He passed at home on the evening May 13 th , 2022. He is survived by his wife Linda (neé Moore), son Tim Moloney with his wife Claire, and grandchildren Ceci, Silas and Sage. &nbsp; Dr. George A. Hofmann, 84, of Johnston, IA, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at this home. George was born March 24, 1938, in Burlington, IA, son of Chauncey Conrad and Vera Ione (Cranston) Hofmann. He moved with his family to Alliance, NE where he attended school and later Chadron State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree. He furthered his education at Colorado State University where he finished his school to become a Veterinarian. On June 25, 1961, he was married to Jean Nora Braddock and they lived in Fort Collins, CO. George was employed by the USDA as a Meat Inspector. He also worked with the Horse Protection Program, monitoring Puppy Mills and after retirement worked for Hy-Vee. In his free time he enjoyed raising Homing Pigeons and he received many awards through the years. He also enjoyed hunting, training his German Short Hair's, and working in his well-maintained orchard growing peaches, apples, pears, and a huge garden. He was preceded in death by his parents Chauncey and Vera, two sisters, Betty Grace and Mary Elliott. He is survived by his wife Jean, four children, Lynette (Louis) Gornick of Papillion, NE, Sharon (Larry Ludwig) Hofmann of Johnston, IA, Wayne Hofmann of Grimes and Kathy Hofmann of Altoona, IA, three grandchildren, Jessica Ludwig, Parker and Ashley Gornick, two great grandchildren, Michael and Gunner Ludwig. Perry Allen Beguin was born to Hank and Aggie Beguin in Rushville, Nebraska on April 25, 1946.&nbsp; He went to be with the Lord and his son Brent on May 6, 2022.&nbsp; He grew up on the Beguin ranch 20 miles south of Rushville and was the youngest of four boys, Blake, Blayne, and Jerry.&nbsp; He loved the Sandhills and the country way of life.&nbsp; You can take the boy out of the country, but not the country out of the boy.&nbsp;

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1964.&nbsp; He attended Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska.&nbsp;

He was married to Verona Stephens on June 2, 1968.&nbsp; To that union a son, Brent Allen, was born in 1971.&nbsp; Shawn Henry was born in 1979 and Tina Marie was born in 1982.&nbsp; He was a loving, devoted family man.&nbsp; Friends and family knew him as a caring, kind, humble, and gentle man.&nbsp; He had a great sense of humor once you got to know him and he never lost that.&nbsp;

Perry worked for the Production Credit in Scottsbluff and Chadron Nebraska, and took a transfer to Pendleton, Oregon.&nbsp; He also worked in the banking business both in Nebraska and South Dakota. While in Chadron he and his wife sponsored the CSC rodeo team, taking many road trips with those college kids.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was the Budget Officer and Rodeo Coach for Eastern Oregon State in LaGrande, Oregon.&nbsp; One of the highlights for Perry was being chosen as the National Faculty President for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association for the 1993-94 school year.&nbsp; He retired from his own Real Estate Appraisal Business in 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Horses were always a part of his life.&nbsp; In High School he tried every rodeo event. &nbsp;In College he was the Calf Roping Champion for the Central Plains Collegiate Rodeo Champion in 1971. &nbsp;&nbsp;After college he began team roping, first as a heeler, and eventually as a header.&nbsp; After retirement he was able to spend some time roping in Arizona in the winter.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was active in Rotary until his illness and was once awarded the annual Outstanding Rotary Member Award as well as the Distinguished Service Paul Harris Fellow Award.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a regular church attendant and served as a Deacon in Chadron, Nebraska and Spearfish, South Dakota.&nbsp; He was a member of Connection Church in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and he knew the Lord as his personal savior.&nbsp;

Perry was preceded in death by his mother Agnes (Aggie) and his father Jules Henry (Hank), son Brent, brothers Blake and Blayne, his sister-in-law Myrna, and his nephew Clint.

He is survived by his wife Verona, his son Shawn, and his daughter Tina Van Kley (Nick), his 3 granddaughters Carmen, Ariyana, and Ida, and his grandson Sidney, his brother Jerry (Karen), sisters-in-law Mary Jean and Judy, and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 at the Connection Church (former Mountain View Baptist at exit 12) in Spearfish, South Dakota with a grave side service taking place on Friday at 1 p.m. &nbsp;in Rushville, Nebraska.&nbsp; The family suggests memorials to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Phoenix, Arizona or Hospice.&nbsp; Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Funeral Home, Box 970, Chadron, Nebraska 69337.&nbsp;

Bobbie Jo Lantinen, 51, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, May 13, 2022. &nbsp;

She was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on March 24, 1971 to Michael R. and Fay L. (Wagner) Lantinen.

Bobbie lived many places and worked a lot of different jobs throughout her life, mostly in retail. She had a smile for everyone she met and enjoyed visiting with customers. She liked gardening and always had a house full of plants.

She loved her longtime boyfriend Dale Jeske, Jr., her family, and friends. She also loved their fur baby cats, Tigger, Trouble and Monster, and their German Shepard Fargo. &nbsp; Her nieces will never forget their fun loving Aunt Bobbie and all the sleepover dance parties they used to have.&nbsp;

She is survived by her boyfriend, Dale Jeske of Alliance; her father, Mike Lantinen of Alliance; her sister, Jennifer (Jesse) Agler of Hay Springs; her nieces, Katelin Agler, and Ashley (Garrett) Weyers, and her nephew, Jaxon Agler, all of Hay Springs.&nbsp; She is also survived by her grandmother, Bernadine Wagner of Grand Rapids, MN and her grandmother, Doris Jelen of Hibbing, MN; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Fay Lantinen, who she loved dearly, her uncle, Allen Wagner, and her grandfathers, Reino Lantinen and Jim Wagner.

Cremation has taken place and no memorial services are immediately planned.

Services for Anna Ingrid Schild of Rapid City, SD took place Wednesday, May 11, 2022&nbsp;at Bethlehem Lutheran&nbsp;Church in Rapid City, SD. Inurnment took place at Mt. View Cemetery also in Rapid City, SD.

Anna Ingrid Schild of Rapid City, SD, was called home on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.&nbsp; Anna was born to Larry and Susan Forsstrom on May 6, 1971, in Lincoln, NE.

Anna grew up in Alliance, NE, and received an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Chadron State.&nbsp; She received her teaching degree in special education from Wayne State College.&nbsp; While earning her degrees, Anna worked in group homes for special needs children.&nbsp; Once receiving her special education degree, Anna taught at the Nebraska Home for Boys.&nbsp; In 2001, Anna and her family moved to Rapid City, SD, where Anna took a teaching position working in Special Education at Steven’s High School for the next twenty years.&nbsp; While teaching at Steven’s, Anna continued her education, obtaining her Master’s Degree at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.

Anna met Glen Schild, who would become the love of her life, in 1992.&nbsp; The couple married in 1993.&nbsp; In 1997, Glen and Anna welcomed their firstborn, Nathan.&nbsp; In 2001, their family grew after the birth of their son Jacob.&nbsp; Anna loved being a mother and devoted herself to providing an amazing childhood for her children.&nbsp; Anna was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Glen.&nbsp; Anna cherished her family and naturally took on the nurturing caregiver role.

Anna had a passion for special needs children and made it her life’s work to ensure her students knew they were loved and valued.&nbsp; Anna was a selfless person who loved with her whole heart.&nbsp; If Anna could find a way to help someone in need, she would.&nbsp; Anna left an impact on the everyday moments of life.

Anna is survived by her husband, Glen Schild; sons, Nathan (Aubrey Knapp) Schild and Jacob (Samantha Simmons) Schild; aunt, Sharon Griffith; brothers-in-law, Lynn (Stephanie) Schild and Vernon (Joyce) Schild; sister-in-law, Cindi (Dan) Conner; and many family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Susan Forsstrom; grandmother, Anna Forsstrom; in-laws, Ray and Dorris Schild; and brother-in-law, Paul Schild.

Memorial visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 5-7 p.m.&nbsp; Memorial service will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; Luncheon will follow at the church and inurnment will be at 12:30 at Mt. View Cemetery.&nbsp;

View Cemetery also in Rapid City, SD.Anna Ingrid Schild of Rapid City, SD, was called home on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.&nbsp; Anna was born to Larry and Susan Forsstrom on May 6, 1971, in Lincoln, NE.Anna grew up in Alliance, NE, and received an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Chadron State.&nbsp; She received her teaching degree in special education from Wayne State College.&nbsp; While earning her degrees, Anna worked in group homes for special needs children.&nbsp; Once receiving her special education degree, Anna taught at the Nebraska Home for Boys.&nbsp; In 2001, Anna and her family moved to Rapid City, SD, where Anna took a teaching position working in Special Education at Steven’s High School for the next twenty years.&nbsp; While teaching at Steven’s, Anna continued her education, obtaining her Master’s Degree at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.Anna met Glen Schild, who would become the love of her life, in 1992.&nbsp; The couple married in 1993.&nbsp; In 1997, Glen and Anna welcomed their firstborn, Nathan.&nbsp; In 2001, their family grew after the birth of their son Jacob.&nbsp; Anna loved being a mother and devoted herself to providing an amazing childhood for her children.&nbsp; Anna was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Glen.&nbsp; Anna cherished her family and naturally took on the nurturing caregiver role.Anna had a passion for special needs children and made it her life’s work to ensure her students knew they were loved and valued.&nbsp; Anna was a selfless person who loved with her whole heart.&nbsp; If Anna could find a way to help someone in need, she would.&nbsp; Anna left an impact on the everyday moments of life.Anna is survived by her husband, Glen Schild; sons, Nathan (Aubrey Knapp) Schild and Jacob (Samantha Simmons) Schild; aunt, Sharon Griffith; brothers-in-law, Lynn (Stephanie) Schild and Vernon (Joyce) Schild; sister-in-law, Cindi (Dan) Conner; and many family members and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Susan Forsstrom; grandmother, Anna Forsstrom; in-laws, Ray and Dorris Schild; and brother-in-law, Paul Schild.Memorial visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 5-7 p.m.&nbsp; Memorial service will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; Luncheon will follow at the church and inurnment will be at 12:30 at Mt. Michael L. Mees, 74, died Friday, May 13, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1947 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Merlen John and Corene Nadene (Huss) Mees.

He married Sondra S. Joe on July 5, 1975 in Elko, Nevada.&nbsp; Together they moved from Fairbury to Alliance where he worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.&nbsp; Mike worked for the railroad for more than thirty years before his retirement.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, or tinkering around the house.&nbsp; Mike was always a helping hand to anyone who needed it and also cared for many stray animals.&nbsp; He volunteered at the Alliance Senior Center, RSVP, and also helped in delivering Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Julie Mees of Deshler, Nebraska; his step-children and their spouses, Dean and Sue Fox of Fairbury, Donovan and Connie Fox of Fairbury, and Pamela Watson of Greeley, CO.&nbsp; He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Karen Roskilly of Fairbury and Carolyn and Donald Junker of Beatrice.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 brothers and his step-daughter.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.&nbsp; Rev. Dr. Gideon Achi will officiate.

Shawn Everett Juhnke, 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Livingston, Montana, on April 30, 2022.

Shawn was the loving son born to Gail and David Juhnke on August 17, 1970, in Livingston.&nbsp; He graduated in 1990 after going back to school to get his GED.&nbsp; He worked for the BNSF in Alliance, NE, while married to Penny Thomsen. They were blessed with two children, Christian and Caitlin, and later divorced.&nbsp; While still in Alliance, Shawn married Christine Hoppes. They later moved to Montana where he worked for the mine and later became a police officer in Columbus, MT.&nbsp; Shawn and Christine were blessed with two children, Saige and Kelsey Juhnke, and later divorced.

Shawn really enjoyed being a police officer, followed by becoming a corrections officer in Miles City, MT. Following an on the job injury, he moved to Livingston to be closer to family.&nbsp; His passions were his guns, his love for his country, his tattoos - each and every one symbolizing the man he was and had become - his Lord and Savior, and his family.&nbsp; Family meant the world to him and he would never go a day without saying, “I love you”.&nbsp; Shawn…We Love You!

Shawn is survived by his four children; his parents; sister, Rachel (Tim) Dailey; brother, Brandon (Nicole) Juhnke; half-sisters, Tammy (Gustavo) Herrera, and Christina (Jake) Nelson; half-brothers Bryan (Tracy) Meloccara, Josh (Carrie) McGee and John (Linnea) McGee; 4 grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that meant the world to him.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to an organization that advocates for Pit Bulls, or an animal shelter of your choice.

Services will be scheduled at a later date. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
