ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The novel coronavirus has reached the highest levels of the Denver Broncos organization with general manager John Elway and team president Joe Ellis testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The Broncos said in a&nbsp;statement&nbsp;that both Elway and Ellis have minor symptoms but are "doing well' and will continue to work from home and in self-isolation and participate in virtual meetings while their health is monitored.

The team said contract tracing measures show that no players or coaches came into close contact with either Elway or Ellis recently.

“Based on a review of contact tracing data with the league, we are confident these cases originated independently outside team facilities,” the Broncos said. “There were minimal close contacts identified for each (no players or coaches) and those individuals have been notified.”

“While our facilities are closed for Election Day, coaches are conducting their game preparations today remotely as a precaution,” the team added. “Our organization will remain in communication with the NFL, making all decisions in consultation with the league and based on guidance from medical experts.”

The Broncos have had three assistant coaches go under the league's COVID-19 protocols — Curtis Modkins, Mike Munchak and Ed Donatell — in addition to right guard Graham Glasgow. Others at the team's headquarters also have been infected by COVID-19 in recent weeks.

The Broncos have been under the league’s enhanced COVID-19 protocols since Modkins’ infection. Those extra measures include increased distancing, face coverings on the practice field and inside the team’s facilities for players and coaches and remote team meetings. Position groups can still meet in person.

With those extra mitigation measures and only one Broncos player on the league's reserve/COVID-19 list, the league believes “there is not ongoing transmission among players and the day-to-day operations” in Denver, NFL chiefs medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said Tuesday. “But it’s something that we’re going to have to continue to monitor very carefully."

Sills said the Broncos have “done an excellent job in implementing our intensive protocols to minimize exposure within the team facility."

He said the spikes in overall coronavirus cases across the country, including Colorado, “increases vulnerability" for NFL teams. "And we have to look at where we think are likely sources of infection and so to date we’ve not seen transmission as extensively within the (Broncos) building there as we have coming from outside,” Sills said.

“But again, we are taking additional steps in Denver as we have in other situations to try to block off any transmission or any vulnerability and continue to monitor that."

Modkins, the team's running backs coach, returned to work last week after recovering from his infection. Munchak, their offensive line coach, was out all last week and Donatell, the team's defensive coordinator, went under COVID-19 protocols Sunday morning, skipping the Broncos' game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Glasgow was diagnosed on Friday, and the Broncos canceled their on-field workouts that afternoon and isolated two other O-linemen, backup guard Austin Schlottmann and starting right tackle Demar Dotson, as a precaution.

Schlottmann and Dotson returned to practice Saturday and played against the Chargers. Schlottmann replaced Glasgow at right guard.

Ellis began feeling ill Sunday morning and contacted the team's medical staff. As a precaution, he watched the&nbsp;Broncos' 31-30 comeback victory&nbsp;over the Los Angeles Chargers from home, the first time in 26 years he'd missed a Broncos home game.

Ellis continued working from home Monday and received a positive COVID-19 test Tuesday morning, as did Elway, who left work for home Monday after he began experiencing mild symptoms of the infection, the team said.

As part of the NFL's COVID-19 safety protocols put in place so the league could try to play the 2020 season during the pandemic, the Broncos have had all their employees tested daily for the virus. Players, coaches and other employees also wear contract tracing devices to help curb any outbreaks.

The Broncos (3-4) are scheduled to return to work Wednesday morning to continue preparations for their game Sunday at Atlanta (2-6).

The Broncos’ best player, linebacker Von Miller, was the first major North American sports star to announce he’d contracted the coronavirus this spring. Denver safety Kareem Jackson also was infected last summer. And on July 30, the Broncos placed fullback/tight end Andrew Beck on the reserve/COVID-19 list, which is intended for players who have tested positive for the virus or who are quarantining after being in close contact with an infected individual. Beck returned to the team on Aug. 17.

Miller is on IR following ankle surgery and hopes to return to action next month.

The Broncos were affected by the New England Patriots' COVID-19 outbreak last month when their game at Gillette Stadium was pushed back, first by a day and then by a week, when Cam Newton and Stephon Gilmore, among others, were infected.

That meant the Broncos' Oct. 18 home game against Miami had to get pushed back to Nov. 22, when they were scheduled to host the Chargers. The Chargers' game was moved up to Nov. 1, which was originally supposed to be the Broncos' bye.

DENVER (AP) — Rookie receiver KJ Hamler couldn't have envisioned a better time for his first career touchdown reception.

His&nbsp;1-yard catch while tumbling out of bounds&nbsp;with no time left Sunday gave the Denver Broncos a stunning 31-30 win over the hard-luck Los Angeles Chargers.

“I don’t think I’ve ever caught a game-winner before in my life,” said Hamler, who got one foot and his butt down inbounds for his third catch of the day, doubling his season total.

The seeds of Denver's improbable comeback were planted at halftime. Drew Lock implored his scuffling teammates to dig deeper in a pep talk he admitted was a rallying cry to the man in the mirror.

“There’s always yelling when you have a half like that,” Lock said of the Broncos’ 60-yard performance that led to a 14-3 halftime deficit and being booed by the 5,700 fans allowed into Empower Field.

The deficit would grow to 24-3 before the halftime speech kicked in.

The anger was similar to last week’s 27-point loss to Kansas City when four turnovers negated a Denver defense that throttled Patrick Mahomes.

Lock called that one a “much deserved-slash-needed yelling, and it was kind of deja vu coming into that locker room (Sunday with) all the yelling and screaming."

After managing just a field goal on their first eight drives, the Broncos (3-4) scored TDs on four of their next five possessions.

They got the ball at their 19 down 30-24 with 2:24 and one timeout remaining. On fourth-and-4 from the Chargers 18 with 7 seconds left, Lock’s pass to rookie tight end Albert Okwuegbunam was incomplete. Defensive back Brandon Facyson was whistled for pass interference, giving the Broncos the ball at the 1 with 1 second remaining.

Lock rolled right as Hamler cut in front of him and raced to the right side of the end zone. When safety Rayshawn Jenkins left Hamler to charge at Lock, the second-year QB hit Hamler as he was falling, just out of cornerback Tevaughn Campbell's reach.

“When we were in the huddle I said to the team, ‘This is how legends are made right here.’ And then we got the play and everything went blank,” Hamler said. “As soon as I saw the ball coming to me, first thing I thought was just secure the catch and fall. Drew put it on the money.”

Brandon McManus nailed the extra point to seal the shocking win. The Chargers (2-5) lost their eighth straight AFC West game despite another stellar performance by rookie Justin Herbert, who joined Deshaun Watson as the only QBs in NFL history with four straight games with three TD passes.

Despite that, the Chargers became the first team in NFL history to blow leads of 16 points or more in four consecutive games.

“We had it completely under control and the way we lost a game today, that is unacceptable,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said. “And I take full responsibility for that.”

“We have to learn how to finish,” Jenkins said. “We can’t let these games like this slip away. This is the NFL. It don’t make sense. We’re going to try to fix it and move forward.”

After a slow start, the Chargers got two quick 80-yard touchdown drives in the final 1:48 of the first half to take a 14-3 lead.

Herbert hit Kennan Allen for a 9-yard score to make it 7-3 and Denver went three-and-out. Sam Martin’s punt traveled 69 yards — 9 yards more than Denver’s offense managed in the first half — into the end zone.

Herbert then directed another 80-yard drive, this one taking less than a minute and including a 36-yard throw to Mike Williams to the Denver 2 on rookie cornerback Michael Ojemudia with 22 seconds left. One play later, Herbert rolled right and fired a 2-yard touchdown strike to fullback Gabe Nabers.

“We held that team to 1 yard rushing in the first half (actually 2). In the second half they started running the ball all over us,” Lynn lamented.

Lock, who had thrown just one TD this season, admitted he was “worried about my job” at halftime."

“But I came in the locker room and when I gave that talk, it all just flushed out. I was like all right, I said it. It was like a therapy session," Lock said.

He threw TD passes to&nbsp;DaeSean Hamilton, Okwuegbunam and Hamler while throwing for 190 yards after halftime, and Phillip Lindsay raced for a 55-yard score as the Broncos piled up 104 yards rushing after halftime.

Broncos rally for wild last-second win over Chargers 31-30

RAPID CITY, S.D.--&nbsp;The defenses dominated the first half, but the offenses made up for lost time in the second half here Saturday night as the Chadron State College football team continued its mastery over South Dakota Mines with a 37-22 triumph. The win was the Eagles' second over the Hardrockers in two weeks. The first game was played in Chadron with the Eagles winning 41-25. They have now won all six of the matchups since the rivalry was renewed in 2016 after Mines joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, but none of them have been easy.&nbsp; Mines was fired up for the Halloween contest after downing Colorado Mesa 24-9 the previous Saturday. "It's always hard to beat a team twice in one season," CSC Coach&nbsp;Jay Long&nbsp;said.&nbsp; "We didn't do a good job of protecting our quarterback,&nbsp;Dalton Holst, in the first half, so we struggled. But our defense held and we did much better giving Holst time in the second half and it showed." The senior from Gillette connected on a pair of 39-yard passes to freshman&nbsp;Jahani Wright&nbsp;and a 40-yarder to senior tight end&nbsp;Baylor Hayes&nbsp;to spark the Eagles' attack in the second half.&nbsp; Wright caught the first bomb for a touchdown and the other two big gainers set up touchdowns. Neither team scored in the first quarter and Chadron State held just a 9-3 halftime lead. But both offenses got untracked in the second half when they combined for 47 points. Mines opened the scoring on the first play of the second period on Enis Sefa's 28-yard field goal. The Eagles got their first points three minutes later when Holst connected on 25-yard pass to all-star receiver&nbsp;Cole Thurness&nbsp;and tailback Chris Busby, freshman from Scottsbluff, capped the 57-yard drive with runs of 13 and one yard.&nbsp; The extra point try was blocked. Chadron State added a 36-yard field goal by&nbsp;Drake Holdren&nbsp;on the last play of the half, soon after linebacker&nbsp;Travis Wilson&nbsp;had intercepted a Mines pass at the hosts' 23. Mines opened the second half by going 75 yards in nine plays to knot the score.&nbsp; Quarterback Spencer Zur hit Isaiah Eastman with a 14-yard pass for the TD. It stayed tied at 9-9 when the Eagles blocked the point after try. The visitors answered in a hurry.&nbsp; Wilson returned the kickoff to midfield, Thurness ran for 13 yards and on the next play Holst connected with Wright, who made a beautiful leaping catch in the end zone, on the first of the 39-yard bombs. Holdren made this extra point and Chadron State led the rest of the way. Chadron State stretched the lead to 23-9 with 3:30 left in the third frame after a short punt gave the visitors the ball at the Mines 26. It took the Eagles eight plays to reach paydirt, but&nbsp;Jalen Starks, their 250-pound tailback, eventually leaped into the end zone from the one-yard line. The Hardrockers responded by going 60 yards in 11 plays with their bruiser, Ahmed Lewis, scoring from the one on the second play of the fourth period.&nbsp; The Eagles scored the next two touchdowns to pretty well seal the verdict. They needed just three plays to go 50 yards the first time after Holst and Wright hooked up on another 39-yard pass that carried to the 11.&nbsp; Starks carried on the next two plays of about equal distance for the touchdown, making the score 30-16. Just three minutes later, after the Eagles had sacked Zur on a fourth down and five situation, Busby scored his second touchdown on a three-yard burst on the first play after Holst had connected with Hayes on their 40-yard strike&nbsp; Mines wrapped up the scoring with an 84-yard drive that saw Zur hit Eastman on a 19-yard scoring toss with 4:28 remaining. The Hardrockers attempted an onside kick, but Thurness, a native of Rapid City, claimed the pigskin to secure the victory. The win was the Eagles' second over the Hardrockers in two weeks. The first game was played in Chadron with the Eagles winning 41-25. They have now won all six of the matchups since the rivalry was renewed in 2016 after Mines joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, but none of them have been easy.&nbsp; Mines was fired up for the Halloween contest after downing Colorado Mesa 24-9 the previous Saturday. "It's always hard to beat a team twice in one season," CSC Coach&nbsp;Jay Long&nbsp;said.&nbsp; "We didn't do a good job of protecting our quarterback,&nbsp;Dalton Holst, in the first half, so we struggled. But our defense held and we did much better giving Holst time in the second half and it showed." The senior from Gillette connected on a pair of 39-yard passes to freshman&nbsp;Jahani Wright&nbsp;and a 40-yarder to senior tight end&nbsp;Baylor Hayes&nbsp;to spark the Eagles' attack in the second half.&nbsp; Wright caught the first bomb for a touchdown and the other two big gainers set up touchdowns. Neither team scored in the first quarter and Chadron State held just a 9-3 halftime lead. But both offenses got untracked in the second half when they combined for 47 points. Mines opened the scoring on the first play of the second period on Enis Sefa's 28-yard field goal. The Eagles got their first points three minutes later when Holst connected on 25-yard pass to all-star receiver&nbsp;Cole Thurness&nbsp;and tailback Chris Busby, freshman from Scottsbluff, capped the 57-yard drive with runs of 13 and one yard.&nbsp; The extra point try was blocked. Chadron State added a 36-yard field goal by&nbsp;Drake Holdren&nbsp;on the last play of the half, soon after linebacker&nbsp;Travis Wilson&nbsp;had intercepted a Mines pass at the hosts' 23. Mines opened the second half by going 75 yards in nine plays to knot the score.&nbsp; Quarterback Spencer Zur hit Isaiah Eastman with a 14-yard pass for the TD. It stayed tied at 9-9 when the Eagles blocked the point after try. The visitors answered in a hurry.&nbsp; Wilson returned the kickoff to midfield, Thurness ran for 13 yards and on the next play Holst connected with Wright, who made a beautiful leaping catch in the end zone, on the first of the 39-yard bombs. Holdren made this extra point and Chadron State led the rest of the way. Chadron State stretched the lead to 23-9 with 3:30 left in the third frame after a short punt gave the visitors the ball at the Mines 26. It took the Eagles eight plays to reach paydirt, but&nbsp;Jalen Starks, their 250-pound tailback, eventually leaped into the end zone from the one-yard line. The Hardrockers responded by going 60 yards in 11 plays with their bruiser, Ahmed Lewis, scoring from the one on the second play of the fourth period.&nbsp; The Eagles scored the next two touchdowns to pretty well seal the verdict. They needed just three plays to go 50 yards the first time after Holst and Wright hooked up on another 39-yard pass that carried to the 11.&nbsp; Starks carried on the next two plays of about equal distance for the touchdown, making the score 30-16. Just three minutes later, after the Eagles had sacked Zur on a fourth down and five situation, Busby scored his second touchdown on a three-yard burst on the first play after Holst had connected with Hayes on their 40-yard strike&nbsp; Mines wrapped up the scoring with an 84-yard drive that saw Zur hit Eastman on a 19-yard scoring toss with 4:28 remaining. The Hardrockers attempted an onside kick, but Thurness, a native of Rapid City, claimed the pigskin to secure the victory. Eagle offense rocks Hardrockers in second half of 37-22 rivalry win

CHADRON, Neb. -- October 28, 2020 --&nbsp;After having its home game against Black Hills State last Saturday afternoon cancelled because the Yellow Jackets had several players stricken with or quarantined because of the coronavirus, the Chadron State College football team is preparing to play its second straight game against South Dakota Mines this Saturday.&nbsp; Kickoff will be at 4&nbsp;p.m. in Rapid City. Black Hills notified Chadron State last Thursday that it would not be coming to play the Eagles. CSC Athletic Director Joel Smith said the college was totally supportive of the Yellow Jackets' decision. Naturally, cancellation of the game was disappointing to the Eagles. Head Coach&nbsp;<a href="https://chadroneagles.com/coaches.aspx?rc=387">Jay Long</a>&nbsp;said soon afterwards the coaching staff and players began concentrating on playing this Saturday and are hoping the remaining three games scheduled for this fall will be played. After the trip to Rapid City, the Eagles are due to visit Nebraska-Kearney on Nov. 7 and Black Hills on Nov. 14. Both of the latter games are slated to kick off at 2 p.m. Mountain Time. While the Eagles were idle on Saturday, the Mines Hardrockers defeated Colorado Mesa 24-9 in Grand Junction in something of a mild surprise. Mesa entered the game 2-0 after edging the Eagles 10-7 in overtime at home on Oct. 10 and romping past Black Hills in Spearfish 56-7 a week later while Chadron State was downing the Hardrockers 41-25 at home.&nbsp; Mines had beaten Black Hills 34-17 in both team's season opener on Oct. 10 in Rapid City. While the Eagles jumped out to a 21-3 halftime lead and were ahead by at least two touchdowns the rest of the way against Mines, the Hardrockers demonstrated they have lots of clout and can never be taken lightly. Chadron State racked up 599 yards against Mines, but the Hardrockers garnered 448 yards, dropped a likely touchdown pass early in the game and were deep in CSC territory when the Eagles intercepted two passes to kill the threats. After the picks, the Eagles' offense took it from there, putting together six touchdown drives of 75 or more yards for a remarkable accomplishment. Quarterback&nbsp;Dalton Holst&nbsp;completed 19 of 27 passes for 361 yards, including eight tosses to&nbsp;Cole Thurness&nbsp;for 175 yards and six to&nbsp;Chad Mikelson&nbsp;for 166. The Eagles also rushed 46 times for 238 yards, led by&nbsp;Jalen Starks, the 250-pound transfer who carried 17 times for 116 yards and three touchdowns. Starks' performance netted him the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week honor. The following is a joint statement from&nbsp;Nebraska Athletic Director&nbsp;Bill Moos&nbsp;and&nbsp;University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green&nbsp;regarding Wednesday's announcement that Saturday's Nebraska-Wisconsin football game in Lincoln will not be played due to an elevated number of COVID-19 cases within the Badger program. "Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and well-being of our Nebraska student-athletes has been our top priority, and we know Wisconsin is operating with the same guiding principle. We wish all of those impacted in the Wisconsin program a quick and full recovery from the virus. "With the cancellation of the game against Wisconsin, we did explore the possibility of securing a non-conference game for Saturday. The discussions we had were with teams that had already implemented stricter testing protocols than those mandated by the Big Ten Conference. Those details were non-negotiable if we were to bring a non-conference opponent to Lincoln. "At Nebraska, we will always make decisions based on what is best for our student-athletes, and to provide them with the best possible experience during their college careers. To this point, the young men in our program have worked hard to prepare for the football season and have made the necessary sacrifices in order to play in this unusual environment. With an already shortened season, we owed it to our student-athletes to explore any possible option to play a game this week. "We believe the flexibility to play non-conference games could have been beneficial not only for Nebraska, but other Big Ten teams who may be in a similar position as the season progresses. School officials said athletic director Barry Alvarez and chancellor Rebecca Blank made the decision in consultation with Big Ten officials. The game with Nebraska won’t be rescheduled.

The Nebraska School Activities Association anounced the following guidelines for member schools to follow for the winter season for Play Production, Bowling, Wrestling, Swimming &amp; Diving, Girls and Boys Basketball and Speech.&nbsp;

2020-21 NSAA Winter Season Guidelines:

Circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic are constantly changing and the circumstances vary from community to community. Difficult decisions will have to be made from week to week or even day to day.&nbsp; The health and safety of students, staff, and local communities remain the priority of the NSAA as we provide opportunities to participate in the winter sports season.

Each school has the authority to determine if it will participate in the 2020-21 Winter Season.&nbsp; During the season it will be the responsibility of the host school to provide administrative oversight in compliance with established COVID-19 guidelines in accordance with their local health departments and facilities.

Additionally, the NSAA is requiring the following of host schools for all winter season contests:

• Participants are permitted, but not required, to wear face coverings during competition.

• Coaches and non-active participants are required to wear face coverings at all times.

• Spectators are required to wear face coverings at all times while attending indoor events.

• Host school requirements must be the same for all schools, officials, judges and spectators.

All participating schools, officials, judges and spectators are expected to adhere to these requirements.

The host school should make every effort to mitigate risk and provide adequate opportunities for physical distancing procedures for the visiting schools, officials, judges and all spectators.

Protocols for winter contest hosts to consider:

• Create separate points of entry for home and visitor teams/spectators

• Provide no concession stands or separate/multiple concession stands for home and visitor spectators

• Provide separate/multiple restrooms for home and visitor spectators

• Communicate availability of locker room space for the opposing team and officials

• Implement diligent and effective cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched objects and surfaces

During practice, coaches should make accommodations for physical distancing whenever possible. Provide adequate spacing when participating in stretching, instructional time and drills. Conduct workouts in small groups whenever possible.

During competition, the team and bench areas should be restricted to essential personnel only. Coaches, officials, and players should be cognizant of physical distancing guidelines when interacting before, during, and after contests.

Schools are encouraged to play their regularly scheduled competitions unless a COVID-19 issue prevents them from playing. Member schools shall be solely responsible for determining whether a scheduled game, match, contest, or other activity is cancelled or postponed due to a COVID-19 related issue in consultation with their local health departments.&nbsp; Member schools shall notify the NSAA of any cancellation or postponement.

The NSAA has great appreciation for all its member schools and their tireless efforts to provide opportunities for learning and participation in NSAA activities. Communication, flexibility, and patience will be key in supporting our high school student participants as they participate in activities this winter season.

2020 NSAA Play Production District Contest Information

These modifications are subject to change in response to COVID-19.

Participants, coaches, judges or spectators that feel sick should not attend or participate in practice or competition. The NSAA requires all non-active participants, coaches, and spectators to wear face coverings. 

Physical distancing should be practiced when possible.

The health and safety of students, staff, and local communities remain the priority of the NSAA.

The NSAA is implementing the following requirements for host schools of all NSAA district play production contests:

• Spectators and judges are required to wear face coverings at all times.

• Directors, crew members and non-active participants are required to wear face coverings at all times.

• Interactions between participants, spectators, and judges must adhere to physical distancing guidelines.

• Performances must be scheduled at least 1 hour apart.

• Physically-distanced areas must be created for judges during competition and oral critiques.

• The host school may establish additional requirements in consultation with local health departments. Additional requirements implemented by the host school must be the same for all schools, judges, and spectators.

All participating schools, judges and spectators are expected to adhere to these requirements.

Optional protocols for play production district contest hosts to consider:

• Designate specific arrival/departure times for participating schools (ex. arrive, setup, perform, teardown, leave)

• Create separate points of entry for cast/crew and spectators

• Restrict attendance/specific seating areas for participating schools/spectators

• Limit theatre/backstage areas to essential personnel only

• Consider digital oral critiques and/or awards ceremony (Zoom, Facebook Live, etc.)

• Communicate availability of locker/dressing room facilities

• Provide limited concession stands or multiple concession stands

• Provide separate or multiple restrooms for participating schools/judges

• Sanitize frequently touched objects and surfaces in theatre/backstage areas

In play production, NSAA member schools apply and volunteer to host district contests. Often, there is a shortage of

willing and available member schools to serve as hosts. Therefore, district contest hosts in play production will have the

full support of the NSAA, should they implement additional COVID-19 protocols at their facility.

2020-21 NSAA Bowling Rules Modifications &amp; Considerations

Participants, coaches, officials or spectators that feel sick should not attend or participate in practice or competition. The

NSAA requires all non-active participants, coaches, and spectators to wear face coverings. Physical distancing should be practiced when possible.

1. Extend the deadline to submit varsity schedules from November 19th to December 3rd.

2. Any regular season contest canceled due to COVID-19 will be considered a “no-contest.”

a. Schools will notify the NSAA of any contest cancellations.

b. Wild card points will not be awarded for “no-contest” competitions.

c. Forfeits will not be issued for a “no-contest.”

3. Replacement contests (not originally scheduled) may be scheduled at any time.

b. Contest limitations may not be exceeded.

***The host administration must pre-communicate local protocols &amp; activity requirements to participating school(s).***

USBC/NSAA Rules Modifications &amp; Considerations:

Schedule: Consider adapting your contest schedule to accommodate social distancing.

Single Lane, USBC Rules 106a/106b &amp; 320a/320b: Individual teams are temporarily allowed to compete on a single lane

without the requirements to rotate lanes (on a pair). You may schedule open lanes between teams and play opponents

on different lanes. Work with your bowling center management before deciding on how to schedule teams while

Facial Coverings: Facial coverings are required for any coach and inactive participant. Active participants may remove

their facial covering when on the approach. Coverings should not be distracting and have no designs.

Cleaning, USBC Rule 18:&nbsp; Bowlers are temporarily allowed to use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean their bowling ball during competition. This exception only applies to isopropyl alcohol – no other USBC-approved cleaners will be allowed during competition.

Sanitization:&nbsp; Schools should discuss and consider sanitizing strategies with bowling center management. This should include capturing and storing equipment that is used daily.

Equipment: Participants should not share equipment.

2020-21 Wrestling Rules Modifications &amp; Considerations

Participants, coaches, officials or spectators that feel sick should not attend or participate in practice or competition.&nbsp; The NSAA requires all non-active participants, coaches, and spectators to wear face coverings. Physical distancing should be practiced when possible.

• Team/individual contest limitations will change from 10 tournament dates and 8 individual duals to – 18 total competition dates. Schedules will still need to be entered intoTrack wrestling for purposes of weight management as weigh-in sheets will still be required for each competition.

• Teams will not be required to input schedules into the NSAA system to allow for necessary changes during the season.

• When possible, consider dual meet format for contests

• NSAA Wrestling Manual states that any contest that have more than 4 teams must be considered a tournament.

• Recommend that tournaments be limited to no more than eight teams or, for individual tournaments, 112 participants.

• When possible, multiple gyms or spaces also recommended when there are more than 4 teams competing – to minimize exposure.

• Attendance can be limited according to the respective DHM capacity restrictions

Additional NFHS/NSAA Wrestling Rules Modification/Considerations

• Consider temperature checks conducted at weigh-ins (for coaches and athletes)

• Weigh-ins completed by team rather than shoulder-to-shoulder

• Wrestlers are required to wear a face covering when in the weigh-in area

• Eliminate shaking hands with officials at any time

• Eliminate shaking hands with opposing coach

• Officials will not raise the winner’s hand

• Officials should not go the table for a coach’s meeting if the coach is not wearing a face covering

• Flip disc should be caught by the official instead of allowing it to hit the mat

• Officials can wear face coverings but are not required

• Consider percentage of capacity allowance for spectators – follow respective DHM’s for your area

• Temp checks prior to practice – all coaches and wrestlers

NSAA Announces Winter Activities Guidelines

(AP) Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst isn’t discussing quarterback Graham Mertz’s status following reports that the redshirt freshman has tested positive for COVID-19. Chryst did say he was confident the ninth-ranked Badgers’ game Saturday at Nebraska would go on as scheduled.

Chryst did say he was confident the ninth-ranked Badgers’ game Saturday at Nebraska would go on as scheduled. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and Wisconsin State Journal both reported that Mertz had tested positive. Big Ten protocols say that athletes who test positive through point-of-contact daily testing must take a polymerase chain reaction test to confirm the first result. The athlete can’t play again for at least 21 days if the PCR test confirms the first result.
