CHADRON, Neb. – The Marshall and Owens families each received the Family Tree Awards on Friday and were honored during halftime of the football game on Saturday. According to the requirements listed online, each recipient family must include a minimum of three generations of graduates. At least two of the family members must have a record of outstanding service to the college, the alumni association, their community, or their profession.

Con Marshall earned his bachelor’s degree in 1963. He was a class officer, student senate president, Eagle newspaper sports editor and news editor, and active in Blue Key, Sigma Tau Gamma, and listed in Who’s Who. He was a reporter for the Chadron Record from 1964-66, a feature writer for the Star-Herald from 1966-69, and became Director of Information at CSC in 1969. He semi-retired in 2009 but continues to write and take photos. He wrote both the CSC 75th&nbsp;and 100th&nbsp;anniversary books. He and his wife, Peggy, of Crawford, have three children: Tyler, Sara, and Perry. The couple has been married for 60 years. Peggy (Galbreath) graduated in 1966 with her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s in education in 1971. She was a member of the Student Education Association and Sigma Delta Nu. She taught at the Bridgeport Public Schools from 1964-65, at the Gering Public Schools from 1968- 69, and at CSC from 1986 to 2010.

Tyler graduated with a bachelor’s in 1994 and was active in Blue Key. He lives in Scottsbluff, works for FedEx, and has one child, Jaedon.

Sara Behrends graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education with a K-12 music endorsement in 1995. She was active in Cardinal Key, Sigma Delta Nu, the Eagleaires, and other music groups. She taught K-12 music in Crawford from 1996- 97, Elementary music at Wauneta-Palisade from 1997 to 2021, and has taught K-5 music at Alliance since 2021.

She and her husband, Aaron, of Worland, Wyoming, have four children: Paul, Miranda, Olivia, and Sonya. Aaron graduated with a bachelor’s in education with a K-12 music endorsement and a physics subject endorsement in 1997. He was involved with various CSC music groups. He led the Wauneta-Palisade middle and high school band and choir from 1997 to 2021 and has been a science teacher in Alliance since 2021.

Olivia is married to Angel Veladez, was active in various music groups, and this semester she is student teaching in Bridgeport, Nebraska. She will graduate this December with a bachelor’s in Education with a K-12 music endorsement.

Sonya currently attends CSC pursuing degrees in molecular biology and chemistry, and she participates in instrumental music performances.

Kristy Heppner Owens, is the daughter of Russel and Shirley Heppner. Following the death of her husband, the late Shirley Heppner married Chuck Royal Johnson of Rapid City. Johnson, 96, graduated in 1956 with an education degree and in 1984 with a computer science degree. He retired from teaching with the Converse County Wyoming School District.

Kristy graduated in 1975 with a degree in K-12 Art Education, and she taught in Hot Springs, South Dakota. &nbsp;Later, she operated a home day care center for 10 years in Everett, Washington, where he husband was stationed with the Burlington Northern railroad, and 10 years in Alliance, Nebraska, after they transferred back to the region.

She and her late husband, Dick, have three children: Milisa Palmer, Kassidy Owens, and Heath Owens.

Heath earned his bachelor’s degree in commercial graphic design in 2001. He is a private independent contractor who has been building and renovating homes for 10 years. Previously, he was in medical sales, and a newspaper publisher with Lee Enterprises managing the Rapid City Journal and other newspapers in the northern hills.

Heath’s wife, Brooke (Shimp), earned her bachelor’s in criminal justice in 2004. She was active in the Student Education Association and the Criminal Justice Club. She has been the Human Resource Manager at the Powder River Division of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad since 2007. They have three children: Riley, Alison, and Hunter. Alison Owens graduated from Crawford High School and attended CSC in 2024-25.

Dick’s sister,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.csc.edu/news/2020/owens-nauslar-shares-tips-to-navigate-an-uncertain-future.html" target="_blank">JoAnne Owens-Nauslar</a>, of Lincoln, graduated from Newcastle High School in Wyoming and earned her bachelor’s degree from CSC in health and physical education in 1970. She went on to earn a master’s in physical education in 1976 and an Ed.D. in 1992 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is a nationally recognized advocate for physical activity and health literacy, and she has had various educational and corporate roles, including 19 years as the Nebraska State Director for Health and Physical Education. Her contributions to the field have earned her induction into multiple halls of fame and numerous prestigious awards. She serves on the Nebraska Sports Council Board and chairs the Chadron State Foundation.

JoAnne’s aunt, Lena Owens, was the Dietitian and Director of Food Service from 1960 to 1975. Lena’s daughters, Beverly and Barbara, attended CSC. Beverly married Jeffrey Schmidt in 1968 and they had four children: LoraLee Jean, Paeter Deitrich, Shalisa Jean, and Starla Jo. JoAnne’s sister Milinda “Mindy” Owens Wineteer of Chadron is the mother of Jamie Hileman who attended CSC.

CSC Honors Two Families with Family Tree Awards

CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State College seniors in the SW 435 class will host the annual Social Work Conference on Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the CSC campus. This year’s theme is Breaking the Silence: Healing and Prevention for Domestic Violence. The event is free to the public, with no registration required. The first 75 attendees will receive a free lunch. Current students will need to purchase lunch using their meal plans.

This year’s conference will feature three main speakers, Mandi Pratt, Ashley Wasserburger and Lisa Peden, as well as a student-led play, Revolution.

Pratt is a public speaker from Ontario, California. Personally surviving Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Pratt has first-hand experience with resilience and the journey through the plot twists in life. Through discussion, Pratt will help the audience feel more in charge of their lives through empowerment, hope and peace.

Wasserburger is the Education Director at Working Against Violence Inc. (WAVI), an organization based in Rapid City, South Dakota, that provides a community free of domestic violence and sexual abuse. WAVI empowers the youth by standing alongside them and providing logistical, educational and emotional support. Wasserburger plans to discuss trauma adaptation and resilience, helping the audience increase empathy within themselves and others.

Peden is an experienced and dedicated Bilingual Prevention and Education Specialist with The DOVES Program, a non-profit community-based domestic and sexual violence program serving nine counties in the Nebraska Panhandle. Peden is passionate about prevention, education and community engagement. Her work spans a range of activities, including delivering presentations and trainings, coordinating awareness campaigns and collaborating with local partners to address the root causes of violence.

Revolution is a play about domestic violence, performed by a student-led volunteer program from Columbus, Nebraska. The play will cover topics for adolescents such as dating violence, sexual assault, and building healthy relationships.

Social Work Class Hosting Domestic Violence Conference at CSC

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a formal hearing in the Black Hills Energy Rate Case (NG-124) beginning at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Commission hearing room and online.

On May 1, Black Hills Energy filed an application with the PSC seeking a $34.6 million rate increase. The proposal will increase Black Hills’ fixed customer charges and distribution charges, the rates regulated by the Commission. The Commission has until January 1, 2026, to make its decision regarding Black Hills Energy’s rate increase application.

Testimony and comments made during the formal hearing will be limited to the parties involved in the proceedings, including Black Hills Energy, and the Public Advocate. Customers are represented by the Public Advocate, an attorney with experience in natural gas matters appointed pursuant to statute.

KEARNEY, Neb.&nbsp; — The Nebraska State Patrol hosted troopers and officers from eleven other states for a week of training that will help keep roadways safe across the country.

Last week, NSP Carrier Enforcement troopers provided a series of training sessions focused on commercial motor vehicle safety, including inspections and post-crash investigations. The training included troopers and officers from Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Idaho, Texas, Wisconsin, Vermont, Illinois and Kansas.

“Teamwork across state lines is important to keep America’s roadways safe,” said Captain Martin Denton, Commander of NSP Carrier Enforcement. “Our troopers are proud to share their training with troopers and officers from across the country. The scenarios are based on actual encounters and situations our troopers have experienced. Thanks to all the participants and our local partners for making last week’s training a success.”

The training sessions provided both classroom and hands-on instruction in areas of forensic examination of commercial motor vehicles, as well as completion of post-crash inspections of commercial motor vehicles.

NSP received assistance from several local partners to make this training as valuable as possible. Thank you to the Nebraska Trucking Association, Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, Crete Carrier Corp., Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, Randy and Brian’s Towing, Dowhy Towing, Carney Towing, Great West Casualty Insurance, Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, Nebraska Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for their partnership in this training.

State Transportation Improvement Plan Amendment Announced

LINCOLN, Neb.&nbsp;– The Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges voted Monday to appoint Dr. Jodi Kupper as the next President of Chadron State College, removing the “interim” designation from her title and affirming their full confidence in her leadership and vision for the College’s future.

After surfacing as a finalist during the 2023 Chadron State Presidential search, Kupper was selected to serve as interim president in June. Her years of experience with the Nebraska State College System and familiarity with Nebraska and the region allowed her to make an immediate impact on shaping the direction of the college.

“From day one, Dr. Kupper brought clarity, momentum, and a deep commitment to Chadron State’s success,” said Board Vice Chair Marjean Terrell. “Her results speak louder than any résumé. With her leadership, Chadron State is moving forward with purpose and optimism. The right leader is already here.”

Trustee Danny Renaga added, “Dr. Kupper has reignited energy across the campus and community. She’s earned the confidence of everyone around her, and in my opinion, she’s already proven she’s the right person for the job.”

Chancellor Paul Turman said the Board’s decision comes at a pivotal time for Chadron State and reflects confidence in Dr. Kupper’s ability to lead decisively.

“The time for action is now,” Turman said. “Chadron State is at an important crossroads, and we need strong, steady leadership to keep building momentum. Dr. Kupper understands the challenges ahead and has already begun positioning the College for success. Her vision, collaboration, and results-oriented approach are exactly what Chadron State needs to move forward.”

Since becoming interim president, Dr. Kupper has:

Previously, she served at Peru State College as Dean of the School of Education from 2005 to 2014, and at Millikin University as Associate Professor of Education and Director of the School of Education from 2003 to 2005, and as Assistant Professor of Education from 1998 to 2003.

Kupper earned a Bachelor of Science in Education (secondary education) from Wayne State College, a Master of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska – Omaha, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Fall is upon us and snow could come at any day. We would like to remind all of our community members that City Ordinance §16-308 Recreational vehicles; storage was changed in December of 2016 in an effort to keep our roadways clear during the winter making snow removal easier.

We are asking our residents to assist in these efforts by removing the below listed vehicle types from City streets by Nov. 1 through March 31.

The following vehicle types are affected by City Ordinance §16-308:

Any motor vehicle or trailer designed and used as a travel trailer, camper, motor home, tent trailer, boat trailer, ATV/UTV trailer, snowmobile trailer, camping trailer, cargo trailer, trailer of any kind, or bus.

KEARNEY, Neb. —&nbsp;Nebraska NetFest, a weekend of exciting competition in volleyball and pickleball, will take place this weekend, October 17-19, in Kearney.

The NetFest Singles &amp; Mixed Doubles Pickleball Championships will begin Friday, Oct. 17, with Singles competition, followed by Mixed Doubles on Saturday and Sunday. A total of 48 players are registered to participate.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved changes to sportfishing orders at its meeting Oct. 10 at Niobrara State Park. These orders regard daily bag limits, possession limits and open areas.

Pronske, an instructor for 38 years, has brought many students back as Hunter Education instructors. She now boasts one of the largest Hunter Education Instructor groups in the state.</li><li>Dick Turpin Hunter Education Instructor of the Year Award to Kenneth Gill of Bloomfield. Gill has taught more than 1,000 students in his 48 years as a Hunter Education instructor. Commissioners Approve Sportfishing Orders

ALLIANCE, Neb. - Parked between plastic bladders pulled from IBC totes and curbside bags waiting to be sorted I put “the old pickup” out to pasture. No longer fit to drive, the F250 diesel had served Keep Alliance Beautiful well for years. Perhaps someone needs a project or, at the least, spare parts to reuse a conveyance that carried many tons of recyclables during its life.

As a not-for-profit organization we squeeze every last mile out of our vehicles. Grants pay for the best we can find for the funding available though there is no way you’ll be seeing a brand new $55K 2026 pickup with the KAB logo driving through your neighborhood. What fits the bill is a workhorse. That means a 4x4, three-quarter ton pickup with a long box (eight-foot long bed) and crew cab (preferred) then, ideally, a lift gate and cage to corral cardboard.

When I started at KAB neither pickup fit the entire wishlist though both were stout Ford 250’s. The “old pickup” was a 2001 model I had seen many times before in its former stint as a mover of pop machines, etcetera, for Pepsi Cola. It was the primary cardboard collector with a cage to keep loose cargo in place as well as a lift gate to assist in changing out heavy totes behind businesses.

There was a ball on the bumper for trailers and despite upwards of 200,000 on the odometer nothing wrong with the radio. However the absence of four wheel drive made for interesting trips in the mud and snow. The “new” 2011 pickup was also an F250 though it drank gasoline. This Ford did not have a lift or cage yet did have four wheel drive. Both were crew cabs – a great feature to bring bags and contain recyclables more likely to fly out the back.

The newer pickup, as time went on, almost exclusively had the assignment of moving trailers. Initially, I avoided the invitation to drive. The newbie always rides shotgun, that’s how it works. Cole navigated the west end or the east end, as our then-boss G.O. would say. We packed the old truck and drove windows down, radio tuned to KCOW. It became my favorite. Months went by, routes memorized. Now my turn came to drive – a challenge having rarely been behind the wheel of something that size. A pint-size Toyota Tacoma was the one and only pickup in my history. It became obvious that the turning radius of these F250s would take some getting used to.

A few of the dents on both the white KAB pickups are mine. It pays to take your time, double-check blind spots and ask for assistance from the copilot. Beyond simply steering while applying the gas and brake there is cargo consideration. The old pickup inherently held more though that meant more to snatch from the streets and highways when not securing the load properly. A tarp and pallets came in handy when visiting Pat’s Creative and Hemingford while not overfilling the cage was the biggest factor around town.

My Achilles heel when leaving town would be to pack the cage to the gills and underestimate the power of the wind to pluck out a bag or box. Lonnie and I saw how this worked on one occasion north of Berea. Fortunately a Good Samaritan stopped to help pick up paper and plastic. Earlier this year the old pickup began to leak from its coolant reservoir, a symptom of a major problem. To fix the issue would have far exceeded the repair budget for a nearly 25-year-old vehicle. So, since it still ran, we continued to drive the pickup for the next few months. Then, with about 350,000 miles, this Ford seemed ready to check out. I reached to adjust the rearview one morning and the mirror came off in my hand. Little things like that. Last month, in anticipation, we had RPR move the liftgate and cage to the other pickup. Then, on October 3, a leaf spring broke and blew the back driver’s side tire. I called my dad to help.

He made it possible to put on the spare and limp back to the recycling center with a blown tire in the bed and cardboard held in with a temporary plywood tailgate. Whatever we find as a replacement will do the same job and may even have a hint of “new car scent”. Still, I will miss that turn of the century diesel.

United Way Duck Draw Presentation Set for Oct. 15

LINCOLN, Neb.&nbsp;– On Tuesday, Oct. 14, Governor Jim Pillen will sign an executive order launching the&nbsp;Good Life, Great Careers Initiative. This initiative aims to establish clear pathways for Nebraskans – especially our youth – to access thriving and stable careers through apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.

As part of the&nbsp;Good Life, Great Careers Initiative, the Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) will set up the Office of Registered Apprenticeship, which will be integrated into NDOL and serve as the coordinating body for all matters related to registered apprenticeship programs within the state of Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Gov. Pillen To Launch Good Life, Great Careers Initiative, Sign Executive Order

The Oct. 18-19 statewide youth pheasant, quail and partridge season for hunters ages 15 and younger provides an excellent opportunity to mentor new hunters.

“The annual youth season provides a great opportunity for our young hunters to get out and hunt in a low-pressure environment,” said Bryan O’Connor, upland game program manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. “This is an excellent chance for young hunters to gain experience and hone their skills.”

Resident youth (age 15 or younger) do not need a permit to hunt small game, but nonresident youth must have a small game hunting permit and habitat stamp. Only youth are allowed to hunt during the youth season, except at designated Special Youth Hunt locations, where accompanying adults also are allowed to hunt.

Game and Parks will release rooster pheasants at the following Special Youth Hunt locations/wildlife management areas (with county):

Arnold Trupp (Morrill), Arrowhead (Gage), Bordeaux (Dawes), Branched Oak (Lancaster), Cornhusker (Hall), George Syas (Nance), Hickory Ridge (Johnson), James N. Douglas (Johnson), Kirkpatrick Basin North (York), N-CORPE east tract (Lincoln), Wood Duck (Stanton), Peru Bottoms (Nemaha), Powder Creek (Dixon), Pressey (Custer), Rakes Creek (Cass), Randall W. Schilling (Cass), Sherman Reservoir (Sherman), Wilkinson (Platte), and Yankee Hill (Lancaster).

At Special Youth Hunt locations, the daily bag limit is two rooster pheasants for youth and one rooster pheasant for the accompanying adult. The accompanying adult must be a licensed hunter aged 19 or older and only one adult per youth will be allowed to hunt.

Non-toxic shot is required at Kirkpatrick Basin North, Peru Bottoms, Randall W. Schilling and Wilkinson wildlife management areas — all other hunting regulations also apply.

Youth Pheasant Season Includes Special Youth Hunts

YUTAN, Neb.&nbsp;— On September 26 and 27, hundreds of veterans, spouses, and surviving spouses passed through the Nebraska National Guard (NENG) Titan Readiness Center near Yutan to receive free dental care during Nebraska’s third Veterans Mission of Mercy (VETMOM) Dental Event. The free dental care provided is estimated to be worth more than $550,000.

“It’s hard to put into words how incredible this dental clinic is,” said Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly, who toured the site on September 26. “Every room is filled with patients and bustling with activity. There are hundreds of people volunteering their time, sacrificing their weekend, because this is such a worthy cause. Our veterans have served to protect us, and as Nebraskans we are here to repay them.”

Of Nebraska’s 115,000 veterans, only around 10% qualify for dental care through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Access to dental care is one of the most requested needs reported to the Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs (NDVA), which provided over $300,000 in emergency financial assistance related to dental care through the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund in fiscal year 2025. The VETMOM seeks to bridge that gap and provide at least some of the dental care needed by Nebraska’s veterans.

“I want to commend everyone involved in the VETMOM, from the partners who helped plan and execute the clinic to the private businesses who volunteered time and materials to the sponsors who covered the cost,” said NDVA Director John Hilgert. “We know there’s a need. We know this is important. And we have an incredible group of Nebraskans who are stepping up to solve the issue. It really is like clockwork at this point, and I’m looking forward to many more years of providing this care.”

Over the course of the event, over 2,500 dental services—including cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, x-rays, and more—were provided in about 425 patient visits. More than one hundred dentures were provided, as well. Dentists on site took digital impressions and emailed them to Dental Designs, where technicians designed and 3D printed prosthetics for veterans. With a team of roughly 30 technicians, Dental Designs personnel were on site and back in the lab working around the clock to deliver partials and dentures for patients within 24 hours of their first visit.

“Accessing quality dental care services is a huge challenge for many veterans, especially for older people,” said State Dental Health Director Dr. Charles F. Craft. “Much of the dental care provided at the VETMOM event involved the need for dentures to replace missing teeth that are essential for proper eating. The ability to receive dentures quickly within a 48-hour period speaks to the dedication of our many professional volunteers and partner organizations who worked around the clock to give back to our Nebraska veterans.”

The two-day event was a partnership between NDVA, NENG, DHHS Office of Oral Health and Dentistry, Nebraska Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Hygienists’ Association, University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, and Creighton University School of Dentistry. It was supported by hundreds of volunteers, including dentists, dental students, dental hygienists, dental hygiene students, and private dental practices. Numerous non-dental volunteers, including members of local American Legion and VFW posts, helped with setup, check-in, and other non-clinical tasks. Sponsors for the event included Hornaday, Dental Designs, Ameritas, Patterson Dental, Dexis Imaging, Google, and Farmers Mutual.

“It was an honor to take care of the dental needs for our veterans,” said Dr. James Jenkins, associate professor at the UNMC College of Dentistry who served as the VETMOM clinical director. “I hope they felt appreciated for their service to our nation to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. It was a true team effort, and all the volunteers worked very hard and did a great job. I know our volunteers were blessed by helping others, as were the patients we treated. It was great to see the new smiles on the faces of many of the veterans we served!”

Each year, NENG has allowed the use of the Titan Readiness Center to host the VETMOM. Not only has the space worked well for the event, but its location has helped ensure volunteers from the state’s two dental schools, located in Lincoln and Omaha, can participate. Its large gym served as the main work area and smaller rooms provided space for triage, radiology, patient recovery, and other clinical needs. Accredited veterans service officers from the state and county were available to assist veterans in learning about benefits, filing or checking claims, and more. Staff from the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration, and Vet Center were on hand to offer additional resources to attendees. The “Remembering Our Fallen” memorial, a traveling exhibit that honors the Nebraskans who have been died during the Global War on Terrorism since 9/11, was on display.&nbsp;

A post-event survey was conducted to capture feedback from VETMOM attendees. Over 45% of survey respondents listed cost or lack of dental insurance as a barrier to receiving dental care. Over 20% of respondents said they traveled 100 miles or more to attend the clinic. Over 98% of respondents reported they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their experience at VETMOM, with one commenting, “I thought it was an amazing event. Thank you to all the volunteers and industry professionals for making veterans like me healthier.”

Over the three VETMOMs hosted in Nebraska since 2023, 1,250 veterans, spouses, and surviving spouses have been treated for a total of over $1.6 million in dental care. Another VETMOM is tentatively planned for fall 2026. October Digital Detox Fridays and Creating Graphic Novels at Alliance Public Library

HASTINGS, Neb.&nbsp; — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a person wanted out of Pennsylvania after a pursuit in central Nebraska.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, NSP received information that a man being sought by Pennsylvania law enforcement was believed to be traveling through Nebraska. The subject was believed to be traveling in a Mercedes SUV.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. a trooper located the vehicle and the subject at a gas station at the Alda interchange on Interstate 80, at mile marker 305. As the trooper attempted to make contact, the subject drove away, ripping the fuel hose away from the vehicle. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

The driver fled southbound on Alda Road, with speeds above 120 miles per hour. After several miles, the driver drove into a corn field, stopped and fled on foot. Additional troopers, personnel and K9 units from other police and sheriff departments also responded to the area. Thermal drones were used to locate the suspect, who was taken into custody without further incident just after Midnight on Friday.

The suspect, Antonio Lindsay, 58-years-old, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, was medically cleared and lodged in Adams County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, criminal mischief, obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to obey a lawful order. Lindsay was wanted in Pennsylvania for aggravated assault and other charges.

NSP was assisted by the Hastings Police Department, Grand Island Police Department, Kearney Police Department, Colfax County Sheriff’s Office, Merrick County Sheriff’s Office and Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Gov. Pillen emphasized that energy security is key to national security.

“Foreign adversaries have sped up their own coal production, most notably China and Russia. It is unfathomable why we would take any action that would slow or stop our own expansion of coal-driven energy.”

Gov. Pillen has worked hard on multiple fronts to preserve, protect and expand coal infrastructure in the state, as a means of ensuring cost-efficient available energy to Nebraskans. He said the lawsuit filed on behalf of the state by AG Hilgers represents a tremendous step toward furthering those goals.

“Today’s coal production does not carry the same emission risks that it did in the past. The scrubbing technology that is used today is very efficient and very effective in removing pollutants. Science is on our side, allowing us to make coal energy into clean energy."
