Halley Ryan Craig, 32, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Alliance.

She was born January 25, 1991 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Jo Anne Craig. &nbsp;She spent her “growing up years” with her grandparents, Gary and Sherry Craig.

Halley was homeschooled and attended Southeast High School in Yoder, Wyoming. &nbsp;After earning her GED, Halley went on to become a licensed dental assistant, working in Wyoming and Colorado.

She was always a free spirit. &nbsp;Halley especially loved sitting in the sunshine and fresh air on the bank of a good fishing hole, catching “brookies”.

Halley is survived by her daughter, Delaynie Hort; her mother, Jo Anne Craig; her grandmother, Sherry Craig; aunts and uncles, Kris (Jeff) Tvrs, Cindy (Don) Lemmon, Jeff (Mimi) Feagler, Justin (Jodi) Craig, Samantha Craig, Casey (Eric) Hansen, and Nathan Craig; and numerous cousins and friends. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gary Craig, and great-grandparents, Rudy and Elsie Wacker.

Memorial services are pending for a later date.

Memorials in Halley’s name may be sent in care of her grandmother, Sherry Craig, 616 State Street, Dalton, Nebraska, 69131, and will be used for her daughter’s education.

Shirley Maxine Wernke, 93, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at Heritage Ridge in Bellevue, Nebraska.

She was born on November 14, 1929 in Ardmore, Alberta, Canada to Vergil A. and Velma Amelia (Lewis) Perrin.&nbsp; In her early childhood the family moved to a ranch north of Hyannis where she grew up.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Alliance High School.&nbsp;

On March 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Raymond William Wernke in Alliance.&nbsp; They lived in Alliance until moving to Thedford in 1957.&nbsp; In 1974 they moved to Grand Island, NE.&nbsp; Following the death of her husband in 2000 Shirley moved to Colorado and lived there until 2016.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Patricia) Wernke of Lincoln, Ronald Wernke of Lincoln, Judith (Carlos) Garcia of Greeley, CO and Velma Jean Whitaker of Bellevue, NE.&nbsp; She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Harold Perrin, her sister, Lila Bryant and her son-in-law, Dan Whitaker.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.&nbsp; A wake service will be Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the church.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home and continue at the wake service.&nbsp;

Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Shirley Maxine Wernke (1929 - 2023)

Glenda Lacy passed on August 9, 2023 at her home in Gering, Nebraska. She was born on April 27, 1937 in Sidney, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sid Greenlee; mother, Helen Greenlee; son, Bryan Lacy; and her husband, Robert A. Lacy.

She is survived by her brother, Brent Greenlee; sons, Tony and Mike of Scottsbluff and Gering and Brad Lacy of Phoenix, Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Colleen, Tyler, and Charity; in addition to 9 great-grandchildren.

She was married to Robert on November 1, 1958. They loved to camp and fish.

Glenda was the program director at the Child Development Center in Scottsbluff for 45 years. She dedicated that time and more to the education and development of mentally and physically challenged children. She was always a staunch advocate for anything that could help them. She was also very active in several church organizations, including teaching Sunday school.

Glenda was a strong, vibrant woman. She was always happiest when serving family, mankind, and The Lord. We will miss her.

Memorial donations may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A celebration of life service will be held for Glenda on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Grams officiating, and the committal will be at Fairview Cemetery. Peggy was born August 24, 1934, in Scottsbluff to Veral and Irene (Combs) Carpenter. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952 and entered the workforce two weeks later as an operator for the United Telephone Company, where she worked for 5 years. On April 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Keith Vohland, her high school sweetheart, and they enjoyed 54 years together prior to Keith’s passing, October 5, 2007. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Jackie in 1954 and Becky in 1958.

Peggy worked a stint at First State Bank, and then was employed at Slafter Oil Company for 35 years. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating with Keith and the family. Other hobbies included baking, going to the movies, and shopping. Her greatest love was for her family with a special fondness for her grandkids, great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews. She adored babies and dogs, especially her dog, Riley.

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie (Rick) Martischewsky and Becky (Ron) Green; grandchildren: Ryan and Nicole Martischewsky, with their children, Ross and Avery; Megan Martischewsky (Freddie Hernandez) with their children Alyssa, Ashleigh, and Cruz Hernandez; Morgan and Ian Venter with their children Marley, Brooklyn, Coltyn, and Avery; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and George Hernandez with their children Aleia and Amari; brothers, Bob (Ronda) Carpenter and Mike (Pam) Carpenter; sister, Jo (Tom) Engstrom; and sister-in-law, Norma Carpenter, who was also Peggy’s best friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; both parents; and her brothers, Jerry, Dick, Boby, and Floyd.

Peggy (Carpenter) Vohland (1934 - 2023)

Frank Edward Pisacka was born June 22, 1940, in Hay Springs, Nebraska to Benny and Evelyn Pisacka. Frank passed away on August 10, 2023. A service will be held on Tuesday August 15, 2023, 10 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crawford.

He grew up on a ranch north of Hay Springs, where his lifelong love of horses and cattle began. After graduating from Hay Springs High School in 1958, he then continued his education at Chadron State College, graduating in 1962. While at Chadron State College, he was on one of the first rodeo teams that CSC had and also played football.

After graduating, he ranched in Buffalo Gap, South Dakota with his first wife to this union his daughter Bunny was born in 1962. In 1972 he moved to Crawford, Nebraska after purchasing Crawford Livestock Market. He truly enjoyed marketing cattle and sheep for the local ranchers and always felt that the "auction way was the best way." During his ownership of the sale barn, he met his wife Linda Preszler and was married on July 22, 1976. To this union his son Cody was born in 1977. After selling the sale barn in 1981, he opened a welding and repair shop where he fixed anything from "bulldozers to ironing boards." Never one to shy away from work, Frank did many things in his life from being a licensed pilot, loan officer for the PCA, Ironworker, heavy equipment operator, trucker, rancher and gardener. Later in life he became the treasurer of the Crawford Rural Fire Board for over 25 years.

He loved to laugh and was always ready to hear a new joke or tell one. To many he was a great friend and was always willing to help whether it be advice, labor or just simply to listen. To him, the greatest achievement of his life was the successes of his daughter Bunny and son Cody.

He is survived by his wife Linda of 47 years, daughter Bunny Pisacka and husband Roy Boldon, son Cody Pisacka and wife Aimee, grandchildren Breezy (Wyatt) Blome, Zane Boldon and Baxter Boldon and great-granddaughter Lenley Blome.

He was preceded in death by his sister Lynn and parents Benny &amp; Evelyn.

Harry Steve Fair passed away August 7, 2023, at his home after a long battle with cancer. Steve was born December 11, 1957, at Gordon, Nebraska, to Jack and Delores Fair. Steve grew up on his family’s ranch southeast of Gordon.

He had a love of roping and most things rodeo. He spent many weekends traveling just to turn a steer. Steve loved to visit with friends and was always ready for a trip to town, or to have company at his home. He was an avid card player and loved a good competitive game of cribbage, hearts, and spades. He was a lifelong sandhills cowboy. After working on a few ranches, Steve returned to his parent’s ranch in 1996, where he remained until his death.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jack Fair, and three siblings, Matt, Delynn, and Edd Fair. He is survived by his mother Delores Fair of Gordon, sister Deano Hilliker (Bill Hilliker) of Kilgore, NE, children Mandy Fair (Jonathan Roth) of Alliance, NE, Matt Fair (Hilary Blonien) of Alliance, NE, Jackson Fair of Gordon, and Jessica Schaff (Casey Schaff) of Spearfish, SD; grandsons Quinten Fair and Link Fair, both of Alliance, and a great-granddaughter Brooklynn Fair of Gothenburg, NE, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Steve didn’t want a funeral service, but instead a gathering of family and friends for a Celebration of Life at his favorite watering hole, The Italian Inn in Gordon, NE. Please join his family and friends on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, to tell your favorite memories and stories.

Patricia Ann Baker (1933 - 2023)

Scott Paul Corr, 63, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 14, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Fr. Rayappa Konka &amp; Fr. Vince Parsons co-officiating. Cremation will follow the services with a family inurnment at a later date. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Reverence Funeral Parlor. The casket will be closed at the Mass. Memorials may be made in Scott’s name and will be designated at a later date. Scott was born on August 14, 1959, in Scottsbluff, to Jack Jorn and Dorothy Joann (Cochran) Corr. The family moved to Simi Valley, California when he was 5 and returned to Melbeta, Nebraska at the age of 15. Scott graduated from Melbeta High School in 1977. Following school, Scott worked at Kelly Bean for a short time before moving to Alliance to begin his career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad on April 29, 1979. Scott worked as a Conductor for 42 years until his cancer diagnosis in December of 2021. Scott’s official retirement from BSNF was November of 2022. Towards the end of Scott’s career his years of faithful service earned him one of the top seniority spots within the Powder River Division. Outside of his career, Scott served two terms as Mayor for the City of Minatare, was a volunteer fireman, EMT, as well as a certified diver for search and rescue. Scott resided in Minatare from 1984-1999.

Scott was united in marriage to Shelley Guzman on July 10, 1999, in Scottsbluff. They made their home in Scottsbluff.

Scott abided by three religions; church, golf, and football. Scott was a faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and served as Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. Scott was an excellent golfer, and his golfing buddies were a second family to him. Scott and Shelley’s favorite season was Husker Football Season. They attended all the home football games and loudly cheered rain or shine, win or loss. He was an avid LA Dodgers fan and enjoyed riding his Harley. Scott’s biggest passion was family, and he coached his children and their friends in all sports, but his favorite was coaching baseball in the summers.

The family moved to Simi Valley, California when he was 5 and returned to Melbeta, Nebraska at the age of 15. Scott graduated from Melbeta High School in 1977. Following school, Scott worked at Kelly Bean for a short time before moving to Alliance to begin his career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad on April 29, 1979. Scott worked as a Conductor for 42 years until his cancer diagnosis in December of 2021. Scott’s official retirement from BSNF was November of 2022. Towards the end of Scott’s career his years of faithful service earned him one of the top seniority spots within the Powder River Division. Outside of his career, Scott served two terms as Mayor for the City of Minatare, was a volunteer fireman, EMT, as well as a certified diver for search and rescue. Scott resided in Minatare from 1984-1999.Scott was united in marriage to Shelley Guzman on July 10, 1999, in Scottsbluff. They made their home in Scottsbluff.Scott abided by three religions; church, golf, and football. Scott was a faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and served as Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. Scott was an excellent golfer, and his golfing buddies were a second family to him. Scott and Shelley’s favorite season was Husker Football Season. They attended all the home football games and loudly cheered rain or shine, win or loss. He was an avid LA Dodgers fan and enjoyed riding his Harley. Patricia A. Kurtz, 84, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023, at Holy Apostles’ Episcopal Church in Mitchell with Deacon Angela Jones and Jenny Hughson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery near Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. Patty was born December 4, 1938, to Clarence “Pat” and Dorothy (Frame) Kennedy. She attended Mitchell Schools and graduated from Mitchell High School.

Patty married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert Kurtz, in 1957 at Holy Apostles’ Episcopal Church.&nbsp; Four children were born to the union: Jerry, Laura, Annette, and Kathy.&nbsp; She was a devoted wife and mother and will be remembered by her smile. While her kids were young, she was active at church as an organist, with the women’s guild, and in organizing the Community Concerts in the valley. As her children grew, she returned to her education and graduated from Chadron State College.

The family home was her haven, and Patty and Gilbert took great pride in caring for it. Christmas was always a special time with Patty and her family making cookies and hosting traditional celebrations. In her spare time, Patty enjoyed sewing, cooking, and relaxing with her cats.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Kurtz of Mitchell, Laura Kurtz of Gering, Annette (Mark) Knaub of Harrisburg and Kathy (Chad) Propp of Minatare; grandchildren, Joslyn (Dustin) Neuwirth of Sidney, Michael John Kurtz of Minatare, Kelsey (Josh) Loutzenhiser, Jacob (Ashley) Knaub, Kinsey (Tanner) Groves, and Jordan (Kaitlin) Knaub all of Harrisburg, and Dalton Propp of Minatare; great grandchildren, Kassie, Kambrie, and Jaxson Loutzenhiser, Trenton and Addison Knaub, Bexlie, Henry, and Ellie Groves and Colbie and Camden Knaub all of Harrisburg; sister, Barbara Frank of Cumming, Georgia; sister-in-laws, Cynthia (Robert) Brown of Wake, Virginia, and Kay Chatterton of Torrington, Wyoming; and her beloved cats, Smokey and Skipper.

Greg was born on August 4, 1964, to Virginia (Orozco) Bales and Frank Sabala Jr. in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He was raised by his mother and stepfather Richard Bales. After Greg graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1983, he went on to join the Marines and was on active duty for four years. During this time, he went on tours in Germany and Scotland. After his time in the Marines, he joined the Army National Guard in 1987. He then served for 20 more years and won soldier of the year. Greg attended UNL for a short period where he pursued his passion for boxing and trained for the Olympics during his twenties. He married Agnes Suazo in 1992. Later they welcomed their two daughters, Sophia and Olivia. Greg was known for his contagious smile and ability to light up a room with his presence. He was able to make you laugh with his sarcasm and would always find a way to give you a hard time. He was a loving father and a devoted friend. He found the most joy from spending time with his family and loved ones. He appreciated every moment he had with his girls and would always say they were his happy place. Greg loved sports and was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs and Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Greg also loved his red Corvette, cooking Mexican food, watching movies, listening to music, and making new friends. Greg is survived by his two daughters, Sophia and Olivia Sabala, his mother and father, Virginia, and Richard Bales, his three sisters, Cindy and Sam Campos, Mari and Mike Greco, and Lisa Becker, brother Rick Bales and many nieces and nephews. Nathan Tyler Cole, 22, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska.

He was born February 15, 2001 in Decatur, Texas to Allen and Alinda (Cooper) Cole.

Nathan loved the outdoors and loved traveling while growing up.&nbsp; He loved animals, especially his dogs Cooper, Aspen and Ruby.&nbsp; He loved to paint and draw.

He especially loved his family.&nbsp; He loved his fiancée Liz with a pure love and was always there for her.&nbsp; He was so proud of his baby girls, Luna and River, and they adored him.

Nathan had been working for his father as a plumber’s assistant.&nbsp; He learned plumbing so quick and effortlessly, as he had always learned learned anything quickly.

He is survived by his fiancé, Elizabeth Garza of Lakeside, NE; his daughters, Luna Cole and River Cole, both of Lakeside, NE; his parents, Allen and Alinda Cole of Alliance, NE; his fiancé’s parents, Melody Gahona and Carl Stewart, both of Houston, TX; his grandparents, Darla (Rick) Strickland of Bowie, TX, Johnny Cole of Sunset, TX, and Adele Duran of Alliance, NE.&nbsp; He is also survived by his aunt, Staci (Ray) Sanders of Boyd, TX; his uncle, John (Amber) Hambrick of Wylie, TX; friends, Austen Tietz of Poskin, WI, Ernesto Urban of Scottsbluff, NE and Neil Nepper of Alliance; his fur babies, Cooper, Aspen, and Ruby; and many more extended family members.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his sisters, Katlyn Cole and Emily Cooper; his grandparents, Danny Cooper and Linda Seaton; and his great-grandparents, Willie Hatley and Vessie Adams, A.J. and Doris Watson and Opal Hatley

Beverly Jean Chaney (1963 - 2023)

Walter Don Deckert of Porcupine, SD, was born in Rushville, Nebraska, on July 10, 1940, to William and Josie Deckert. He died July 31, 2023. His wishes were to be cremated and buried beside his partner of 59 years, Patricia, on the hill above the ranch in the cemetery he built for them. Don said before he passed to not mourn for him as he is with Pat now.

Don lived all his life on the ranch his Dad established in the early 30’s. In the 60’s Don and Pat bought the home place and continued to ranch. &nbsp;Don and Pat were married in February of 1961 and to this union 4 kids showed up; Curtis, Laura, Bob, and Sis, and there are a bunch of grandkids.

Don was a life member of many clubs, such as the NRA, NBRSA, IBS, NTA, and the Nebraska Longhorn Association.

Don and Pat owned and operated the Prairie Dog Target Club, started in 1978, and it is still going strong today. On July 10, 2020, a tornado destroyed most of the loading area, bench covers, and half of the restroom building. With the help of Bill Pond, Mel Klasi and other club members they got it all put back together in time for the memorial match for Pat on September 5, 2020.

Don loved to hunt and trap with his best friend Vereen Forster; they shot a million prairie dogs. He collected traps, old Winchester rifles, and Colt pistols. Don had other great friends, Bill Pond, Tom Beck, Charlie Shellaberger, Tack Tackenberg, Tim Stamm and Tom Utter (deceased). Thank you guys, for the friendship, especially you Tom.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Pat, his father William, mother Josie, brothers Lloyd and Fritz, sister Lilly, nephews Virgil and Butch, Uncle Max, his in laws Joe and Mildred Leavitt, his niece’s son Robby and daughter-in-law Melissa.

Left behind are his children Curtis and family, Laura and family, Sis and family, Bob and Max, nephew Mike, sister Norma and family and everybody else we haven’t mentioned.

Don didn’t want a big funeral, just a simple deal up on the hill at the family cemetery, with family and friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, September 2, 2023, 2;00pm, at the family cemetery.

 </figure>Walter Don Deckert of Porcupine, SD, was born in Rushville, Nebraska, on July 10, 1940, to William and Josie Deckert. He died July 31, 2023. His wishes were to be cremated and buried beside his partner of 59 years, Patricia, on the hill above the ranch in the cemetery he built for them. Don said before he passed to not mourn for him as he is with Pat now.Don lived all his life on the ranch his Dad established in the early 30’s. In the 60’s Don and Pat bought the home place and continued to ranch. &nbsp;Don and Pat were married in February of 1961 and to this union 4 kids showed up; Curtis, Laura, Bob, and Sis, and there are a bunch of grandkids.Don was a life member of many clubs, such as the NRA, NBRSA, IBS, NTA, and the Nebraska Longhorn Association.Don and Pat owned and operated the Prairie Dog Target Club, started in 1978, and it is still going strong today. On July 10, 2020, a tornado destroyed most of the loading area, bench covers, and half of the restroom building. With the help of Bill Pond, Mel Klasi and other club members they got it all put back together in time for the memorial match for Pat on September 5, 2020.Don loved to hunt and trap with his best friend Vereen Forster; they shot a million prairie dogs. He collected traps, old Winchester rifles, and Colt pistols. Don had other great friends, Bill Pond, Tom Beck, Charlie Shellaberger, Tack Tackenberg, Tim Stamm and Tom Utter (deceased). Walter Don Deckert (1940 - 2023)

Mary Katherine Sager, 105, of&nbsp;Whiteclay, Nebraska, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, August 4, 2023, at the home of her daughter, Maryellen New, of Chadron, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held Friday morning, August 11, 2023, at 10 AM at the Extension Community Chapel, south of Whiteclay, Nebraska.

Mary Katherine (Masek) Sager was born November 25, 1917, to Joseph and Josie (Vodicka) Masek. &nbsp;Mary had six siblings, Charles, James, Joseph, Arthur, Alice (Masek) Howell, and Mildred (Masek) Dawkins. Mary and her siblings attended school at Craven Creek District #79 SW of Whiteclay. &nbsp;However, due to economic necessity, Mary only finished the eighth grade when she had to go to work. She found employment at a restaurant in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, later taking a job at the Lone Man Day School NW of Pine Ridge. &nbsp;Her main responsibility at the school was baking bread every day for all the children that lived and attended school there.

On October 25, 1935, she was united in marriage to Harry E. Sager. &nbsp;They lived near and farmed with Harry’s parents until they were able to purchase their own land west of Whiteclay, Nebraska. They lived on that property the rest of their lives, farming and raising their family. &nbsp;The Lord blessed them with six girls and one boy. Joyce (Willard) Wellnitz, Margaret (Richard) Marshall, Alice (Gerald) Denton, Elaine (Daniel) Graeff, Maryellen (Robert) New, Margie (John) Wrede, and Harry J (Robin) Sager. All their children still live in the area except Elaine in Iowa, and Margie in Rapid City.

Mary had a deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and taught her children to know and love Him too! &nbsp;She loved to garden (both vegetables and flowers), sew and crochet, and to hunt, fish and travel with Harry and family. Her greatest gift, however, was hospitality. She was always ready to serve anyone who may be at her house, one of her delicious meals.

Through the years she served in many capacities at the Extension Community Chapel where she was a lifetime member. &nbsp;Also, in the past she belonged to the local Flower and Garden Club and the Sheridan County Extension Club.

She is survived by all seven of her children; one sister, Mildred Dawkins; 23 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, 51 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-greats!!!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E.;&nbsp;her parents, Joseph and Josie Masek; in-laws, Harry and Lena (Graber) Sager; all her brothers Charles, James, Joseph, Arthur, and her sister Alice and all their spouses, also one brother-law, William Dawkins. Three sons-in-law, Willard Wellnitz, Richard Marshall, and Robert New. One grandchild, Connie (Denton)Tyler, and two great grandchildren.

The family praises the Lord for the tremendous influence God allowed Mary to have in their lives and many others.

Sharon Marlis Bryant, 83, shed her earthly cares and gained her heavenly reward on Friday, July 28, 2023, passing peacefully in her home at Highland Park Assisted Living in Alliance, Nebraska.

Sharon was welcomed into this world on February 7, 1940, by her parents Glenn E. and Marguerite L. (Peterson) Barnes at Valentine, Nebraska. She was the fifth of eight siblings who all grew up on the family ranch outside of Kilgore. Childhood years were spent with demanding work, much love, and laughter. Sharon attended high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska where she met Floyd L. Bryant. He became her high school sweetheart and love of her life.

On November 16, 1957, Sharon and Floyd were married and began their adventure together. To this union three children were born:&nbsp; sons Kerry Dwight, and Lonty Kraig, and daughter Danea Lauree.

Sharon and Floyd made their home on the Bryant family farm north of Indianola until 1963. At this point they moved into the Sandhills, Cherry County, Nebraska. This community became their permanent and beloved home. Sharon and Floyd were strong partners as they learned the ranching trade from the best cattlemen in the business. In 1972 the Bryant family moved to the Box T Ranch west of Brownlee, Nebraska where they truly made a home and raised their family.

Sharon didn’t build fence or put-up hay, although she was perfectly capable of doing so. She worked extremely hard alongside of her husband Floyd to make their ranching lifestyle a success. Sharon took considerable pride in delicious meals for her family and all hired help that were lucky enough to spend time around her table. She loved a well-manicured lawn, a clean and warmly welcoming home, and an abundant garden. Sharon became well respected in her community as the one that would show up to help with a branding dinner and knew exactly what to do without being asked. Sharon was extremely active in her church community throughout her life and loved to sing in the choir with her amazing soprano voice. Sharon managed to put three home cooked meals on the table every day, while supporting and encouraging her children, and all other children in her community in their activities. She genuinely loved to help others and thrived in the beautiful Brownlee neighborhood.

In 1997 Sharon and Floyd moved to their home northeast of Kilgore, where they began another adventure together. They started their own craft business “Bryant Rustics.”&nbsp; This was a labor of love for them. Sharon was always highly creative and enjoyed sewing, knitting, making treasured Christmas ornaments and stockings for her grandchildren. She and collaborated with Floyd on countless, beautiful picture frames and bent wood (willow and chokecherry) furniture they made together. They spent hours at craft fairs meeting and visiting with new people. Both loved to share stories and jokes.

Sharon was known as someone who was always ready to lend a helping hand, a very sharp dresser, and an amazing cook. She loved to laugh and had a teasing sense of humor and quick wit. Sharon had spent the last few years in assisted living. Even though her day-to-day memory was failing, she loved to talk about her adventures growing up, her high school days, her times with Floyd on the Box T, and could still recite the recipe for the best darn Pecan pie (of which she made countless dozens for branding dinners) by heart. Sharon was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma (nanny), sister, aunt and friend.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Floyd and son Kerry, in addition to her parents and two siblings. She is survived by her son, Lonty (Rachelle) Bryant of Kearney, NE, daughter Danea Bryant Biltoft of Spokane, WA, and daughter in law Tara Carver Bryant of Kilgore, NE. Sharon is also survived by her grandchildren Stephanie (Andrew) Bryant-Erdman, Dustin Bryant, Samantha Bryant, Drew (Jillian) Bryant, Jordan Biltoft, Sean (Ashley) Biltoft, Kaleb Bryant, and Kamden Bryant. Great grandchildren include Kadin, Sage, Scarlet, Saunder, Caden, Chloe, Colson, Charlie, and Xavier. Our hearts are broken yet there is comfort in knowing Sharon is reunited with Dad and Kerry. She is truly home.

“When I get where I’m going, well there’ll be only happy tears. I will shed the sins and struggles I have carried all these years. And I’ll leave my heart wide open I will love and have no fear. Yeah, when I get where I’m going don’t cry for me down here.”

Angel Kay Dawn, 29, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Box Butte General Hospital.

She was born October 11, 1993 in Alliance to Schuyler and Shirley (Flood) Dawn.

Her survivors include her daughter, Shyanna Red Nest of Alliance, her parents, Schuyler and Shirley Dawn of Alliance, her siblings, Naomi (Arnuffo) Rocha of Crete, NE, Schuyler (Leah) Dawn, Jr. of Lincoln, Henrietta Dawn, Waylon (Ashley) Dawn and Saje Dawn of Alliance, her grandfather, Moses Dawn of Alliance and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward Flood, Angeline White Face and Henrietta Dawn, and her brother, Isiah Garcia.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Indian Mission Church of God.&nbsp; Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.&nbsp; A two night wake service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the church.

Angel Kay Dawn (1993 - 2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wesley August Behm, age 85, of Hill City, South Dakota passed away on July 23, 2023 at his home, with his wife of 60 years, Wilma, by his side. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;To honor his memory, per Wes's wishes, there will be a small family celebration of life and internment in Alliance, Nebraska at a later date.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity or help someone in need. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On November 5, 1937, Wes was the third son born to Walter and Elenora (Bode) Behm in Fairbault, Minnesota.&nbsp; The family later moved to the Duluth, Minnesota area and Wes graduated from Morgan Park High School.&nbsp; He joined the Army Reserves before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend Dunwoody Institute, graduating as a Design Draftsman.&nbsp; While living in Minneapolis, he met a young woman attending Chiropractic College, Wilma Covalt.&nbsp; Wes and Wilma were married on September 21, 1963 and would raise two daughters, Ellen Jo and Karen Lee. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In 1963, the family moved to Prior Lake, Minnesota where Wilma established her Chiropractic office, while Wes was employed as a Design Draftsman with the same company for 26 years until taking retirement.&nbsp; In the Fall of 2000, Wes and Wilma purchased a home in the Black Hills of South Dakota where they would enjoy their retirement years. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wes was a man of many talents.&nbsp; He excelled at a variety of sports throughout his life, he was an avid motorcycle rider, he enjoyed being in his shop and creating woodworking project.&nbsp; He enjoyed animals, being outdoors, and landscaping their homes over the years.&nbsp; In the later years, Wes could be found sitting on his covered deck enjoying the view of the forest and watching the 1880 Train passing through. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wes was a friend to many and always volunteered to help anyone who needed a hand.&nbsp; He was a man of true integrity, a man of his word, even if his words were few.&nbsp; When he spoke, he had something to say.&nbsp; He was kind to all and had a memorable grin.&nbsp; Wes was a loving, caring husband, father and friend.&nbsp; We are all blessed to have had him in our lives. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He will be missed by those he leaves behind:&nbsp; his wife, Wilma; daughters Ellen (Tim) Dietlein and Karen (Randy) Crooks; brother Walt Behm (Shirley); grandchildren Sierra (Luke) Hanson and Samantha (Dever) Crooks; great-grandchildren Sutton Hanson and Dire Crooks; and his nieces and nephews.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elenora Behm; brothers Norman and Eugene Behm; and grandson Taylor Dietlein.

 </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wesley August Behm, age 85, of Hill City, South Dakota passed away on July 23, 2023 at his home, with his wife of 60 years, Wilma, by his side. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;To honor his memory, per Wes's wishes, there will be a small family celebration of life and internment in Alliance, Nebraska at a later date.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity or help someone in need. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On November 5, 1937, Wes was the third son born to Walter and Elenora (Bode) Behm in Fairbault, Minnesota.&nbsp; The family later moved to the Duluth, Minnesota area and Wes graduated from Morgan Park High School.&nbsp; He joined the Army Reserves before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend Dunwoody Institute, graduating as a Design Draftsman.&nbsp; While living in Minneapolis, he met a young woman attending Chiropractic College, Wilma Covalt.&nbsp; Wes and Wilma were married on September 21, 1963 and would raise two daughters, Ellen Jo and Karen Lee. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In 1963, the family moved to Prior Lake, Minnesota where Wilma established her Chiropractic office, while Wes was employed as a Design Draftsman with the same company for 26 years until taking retirement.&nbsp; In the Fall of 2000, Wes and Wilma purchased a home in the Black Hills of South Dakota where they would enjoy their retirement years. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wes was a man of many talents.&nbsp; He excelled at a variety of sports throughout his life, he was an avid motorcycle rider, he enjoyed being in his shop and creating woodworking project.&nbsp; He enjoyed animals, being outdoors, and landscaping their homes over the years.&nbsp; In the later years, Wes could be found sitting on his covered deck enjoying the view of the forest and watching the 1880 Train passing through. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Wes was a friend to many and always volunteered to help anyone who needed a hand.&nbsp; He was a man of true integrity, a man of his word, even if his words were few.&nbsp; When he spoke, he had something to say.&nbsp; He was kind to all and had a memorable grin.&nbsp; Wes was a loving, caring husband, father and friend.&nbsp; We are all blessed to have had him in our lives. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He will be missed by those he leaves behind:&nbsp; his wife, Wilma; daughters Ellen (Tim) Dietlein and Karen (Randy) Crooks; brother Walt Behm (Shirley); grandchildren Sierra (Luke) Hanson and Samantha (Dever) Crooks; great-grandchildren Sutton Hanson and Dire Crooks; and his nieces and nephews.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elenora Behm; brothers Norman and Eugene Behm; and grandson Taylor Dietlein.

Dennis Galen Schoup was born July 9, 1962 in McCook, Nebraska to Carol (Klooz) Schoup and&nbsp;Clifford Schoup. Dennis went to school in McCook graduating in 1981. Through his early years into&nbsp;high school, Dennis loved sports and was involved in community Basketball and Baseball being a&nbsp;great pitcher.

Dennis worked in and around McCook area farming and doing tire repairs for Wheelers in McCook.&nbsp;Dennis went to McCook Community College and on to UNL for his degree in Wildlife Management.&nbsp;He did an internship banding Geese in Minnesota the following summer.

Deciding to pursue his dream of working for the railroad as his father did, Dennis graduated with a&nbsp;National Association of Railroad Science degree. Dennis then hired on BNSF in Alliance, Nebraska&nbsp;November 1998 for TYE department working his entire railroad career until his passing July 17, 2023&nbsp;doing his dream job of being a switchman. Dennis worked with many different people throughout the&nbsp;years developing bonds with many. He also trained many of students hiring on the railroad through&nbsp;out his career. A true professional, Dennis focused on the details to insure the job was done safely,&nbsp;by the book, and perfect. Dennis was a man of very few words, yet many that worked around him&nbsp;enjoyed his quiet disposition even driven to make Dennis give a quick smile.

Dennis loved watching television; focusing on the oldies from Turner Classics, numerous sports&nbsp;channels, and anything history related. He loved watching hockey! Dennis was a die-hard Husker&nbsp;fan throughout his life. In Baseball, Minnesota Twins can't be beat for Dennis. Dennis attended baseball games in Colorado as well. In his “wilder” years, Dennis did a 10 day Baseball extravaganza&nbsp;watching as many baseball games as he and his friends could.

Dennis looked forward to the day less than a year away of going to Stratton, Nebraska to his family's&nbsp;farm which they would go every Sunday when he was growing up supporting his Lutheran heritage.

Dennis Galen Schoup (1962 - 2023)

Thomas (Tom) Michael Beiber passed away July 17th, 2023 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri after a courageous battle with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a rare form of Dementia.&nbsp;

He was born May 11, 1959 in Alliance, NE to Charles Eugene and Phyllis Jane (Wismiller) Beiber.&nbsp;

Tom graduated from St. Agnes Academy, Alliance, Nebraska in 1977.&nbsp; After graduation Tom began his career with Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad where he worked as a clerk and later as a locomotive electrician.&nbsp; He worked until his disability from PCA forced him to leave his job and so many people he loved to be around, in 2014.&nbsp; He officially retired in June 2019 with 41 years of service.

Tom married his wife, Deb (Jorgensen), on May 4, 1992 in Honolulu, Hawaii.&nbsp; They spent most of their lives in Alliance surrounded by many friends and family.&nbsp; In 2016 Tom and Deb relocated to Kearney, Missouri where they enjoyed retirement and spending time with their grandchildren.&nbsp; They bought a home on a small golf course where Tom spent many days collecting lost golf balls, which soon became an obsession!

Tom loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with others. Anything that kept him outdoors was where he wanted to be, he loved all the seasons Nebraska had to offer.&nbsp; He also had another passion and that was watching the Huskers play football.&nbsp; Tom, the dog lover he was, loved training every dog he had to be his hunting partner and his best friend.&nbsp;

Tom is survived by his wife Deb, her son Jason (Natalie) Christoffersen, their sons Julian and Reese of Kearney, Missouri, sisters Jane Moss, Sue (Gary) Moeller, of Alliance, NE,&nbsp; Brother in-law Dylan Kyle, of Homestead, Florida, sisters-in-law Judy (Jerry) Hankins, of Frankston, Texas, Loni (Dave) Deines of Gering, Nebraska, brother-in-law Jim (Jamie) Jorgensen of Fremont, Nebraska and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Enious and Alta Wismiller, A.R. and Evelyn Beiber, his parents Gene and Phyllis Beiber, sisters Nancy Debus and Jennifer Kyle and niece Stephanie Frohman.

Stacy Lynn Murray, 49 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Casper Wyoming Hospital.

Her services will be Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 10:30 am at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Banks officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be a hour prior service. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

Stacy was born on August 5, 1974 to Richard Murray and Susan Bernard in Gregory, South Dakota. She received her education at Pioneer School in Chadron, 1976-1978. At CDC from April of 1978 to August of 1995.

Stacy lived in a foster home in Mitchell since April of 1978. She moved into the OMR children’s home in 1979. She entered Office of Human Development’s Child Development Center on April of 1978 and transferred in full-time adult services in 1995 where she remained until she passed.

Stacy was a very independent lady who loved to watch everybody around her. She had a radiant smile that would brighten every room and was accompanied with a happy squeal. Stacy enjoyed dressing up and looking pretty. When she was told how pretty she was she would tuck her head down and act shy. She loved pink and purple and enjoyed hair accessories. She had a purple blanket that she loved and made sure to have it at all times.

Stacy was affectionate and loved to hold your hand and give hugs. You had to be aware of her hugs as she would pull you in close and hold on tight and then after the hug you were given one of her infectious smiles.

Stacy enjoyed being active and was very particular about her things and what she was doing. Things had to be completed before moving on to next and they had to be put away exactly how she felt they needed to go. Stacy enjoyed puzzles, putting all the pool balls in the holes of the pool table. She enjoyed many outings, being around people, sitting the grass, and playing in a sprinkler in her wheelchair.

Survivors include her mother Susan Bernard; grandparent Joyce Bernard; sisters Collette Murray, Elizabeth Lucas and Jessica Yearling; aunt Michelle Bernard and Paul; her father Rick Murray; aunts and uncles Randy and Cheryl Hoffer, Jim and Rhonda Hoffer and Calvin and Terry Murray.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Peggy Bernard, Richard and Cheryl Murray and Gary Dean Murray.

Stacy was loved by many staff and friends at OHD and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Victor Paul Hoffmann, 61, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

He was born October 9, 1961 in Valentine, NE to Thomas Victor and Ruth Ann (Lotspeich) Hoffmann.

Victor graduated from Alliance High School in 1980.&nbsp; He worked as Electrician/Lineman for the City of Alliance beginning in June 1984.&nbsp; He ended his career in February 2014, just 4 months shy of 30 years of service.

Vic loved his work at the City and was a very knowledgeable electrician and mentor. In his free time, Victor enjoyed watching football and never missed a Nebraska Cornhuskers football game, riding his ATV and his motorcycles and being around animals. He was a very proud papa and cherished his time spent with his granddaughter Aubrey.

He is survived by his special friend, Kerry Hickey of Alliance, his son, James(Abby) Reynolds of Lincoln, NE,&nbsp; his daughter, Cassidy Hoffmann (Witt Clark) of Alliance, his granddaughter, Aubrey Clark of Alliance, his father, Thomas Hoffmann of Nenzel, NE, his sister, Mary Beth (Dave) Fergus of Silverdale, WA, his brother, John Hoffmann of Alliance, his half-brother Thomas (Stephanie) Hoffmann of Lincoln, NE his half-sister, Jennifer (Lealand) Schoon of White River, SD and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Magnuson, his step-father, Arlen “Ole” Magnuson, his step-mother, Jeanette Hoffmann, his grandparents, Paul and Mabel Lotspeich and Victor and Frances Hoffmann.

In his free time, Victor enjoyed watching football and never missed a Nebraska Cornhuskers football game, riding his ATV and his motorcycles and being around animals. Oligmueller, 91, of West Point, peacefully passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point. &nbsp;Funeral Mass will be 10:30am on Tuesday, July 18 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. Matt Niggemeyer as celebrant.&nbsp; The funeral will be livestreamed on the Stokely Funeral Home Facebook page at facebook.com/stokelyfuneralhome.&nbsp; Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria.&nbsp; Visitation with family present will be Monday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Norbert Joseph Oligmueller was born on December 26, 1931, in Beemer to Joseph Sr. and Mary (Ortmeier) Oligmueller.&nbsp; The family moved near Monterey where he attended St. Boniface Catholic School through the 8th&nbsp;grade.&nbsp; In 1953, he answered the call of duty and served his country in the United States Army until 1955 serving in Germany.&nbsp; On April 13, 1955, Norbert married Delores Peatrowsky at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer.&nbsp; The couple spent their early years on a farm east of Beemer before settling on a farm east of West Point. &nbsp;After retiring from farming, they moved to town in the early 2000’s.

Norbert embarked on a fruitful life. He dedicated his time and skills to various endeavors, including working at Terra Fertilizer, construction for John Casey, and farming.&nbsp; He found purpose and fulfillment working for the GACC School, where his personality left an indelible mark on the students.

Norbert’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found solace and strength in his devotion to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. &nbsp;He reveled in the tranquility of fishing, cherishing the moments spent in nature. Above all, he treasured the company of his beloved family, finding happiness in their presence. Norbert’s competitive spirit shone through in his love for playing cards, particularly 10 point pitch and Sheephead. He could be found mowing at St. Michael’s Cemetery up until his final days.&nbsp; Norbert was a member of the 4th&nbsp;Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly No. 596 and a lifetime member of V.F.W. #4912.

Survivors include his wife, Delores, of West Point; children, David (Carol) of Pilger, Daniel (Julie) of Alliance, Linda (Kevin) Fry of Ewing, Michael (Lois) of West Point, Mary (Pete) Brackney of Quilcene, WA, Robert (Michelle) of West Point, Karen (Arvid) Hass of Wisner, Judy (Kyle) Persson of Dorchester, Kevin (Jenny) of Alliance, Nancy (Jason) Hass of Superior, and Roger of West Point; 29 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren; sisters, Marian Bracht and Rita Throener both of West Point; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Nicholas and Barbara Peatrowsky; grandchildren, Tami Oligmueller, Matthew Oligmueller, and Jayda Oligmueller; brother, Joseph (Caroline) Oligmueller, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Leonard Bracht and John Throener.

Pati A. (Jinks) McLellan, 82, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, lost her battle with cancer on Monday, July 10, 2023.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2023, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff with Reverend Karen Anderson officiating. Pati was born on October 1, 1940, to Joseph and Audrey (Maxwell) Jinks in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.&nbsp; She graduated from Scottsbluff High School and married Alvin McLellan in 1961.&nbsp; They had two children, Shawn and Andy.&nbsp; Pati and Alvin later divorced. Pati worked different jobs throughout her life and went back to school to obtain her CNA certification.&nbsp; Pati worked at Northfield Villa for a number of years before retiring.

Pati was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church where she was very involved. She was in various Bible study groups and served on many committees in the church. She was a Eucharistic Minister and a very good reader who was always prepared.&nbsp; Pati loved her church and the people within the church as well.

She could be a very stubborn person but had a kind heart.&nbsp; She would help people without question if it was in her power, however, it was very hard for her to accept help from others.&nbsp; Pati had a great sense of humor and liked joking around.&nbsp; Reading books was something Pati always had time for, and she also enjoyed board games and card games.&nbsp; Another one of her favorite things to do was cooking and she collected tons of cookbooks over the years. Pati was known for many yummy dishes, but her deviled eggs were the best.&nbsp; She will be greatly missed.
