Gerald S. Blonien, 94, of Hay Springs, Nebraska, passed away on Sept. 28, 2022 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs.

Gerald was born on Nov. 9, 1927 to Erwin and Esther Blonien in Moon, Wisconsin. He spent his early childhood in Rudolph, Wisconsin, before his family moved to Hay Springs in 1941.

On Jan. 10, 1953, Gerald married Roxyanne Elmitt at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Hay Springs, making their home on a dairy farm southwest of town. On July 1, 1966, they began selling Grade “A” milk and did so for the next 2o years.

Gerald was hard working, quick witted, spunky and said it just like it was. He was a proud member of St. Columbkille’s for 80 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a passion for playing cards, attending auctions, collecting anything imaginable and fishing.

He thoroughly enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and later, his great-grandchildren.

Gerald was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Roxy, his parents, his sister Elvera Rasmussen and an infant child.

Gerald is survived by sons Rick Blonien and Randy (Dawn) Blonien, and daughters Pam (Mike) Baumann, Shannon (Frank) Roost and Sharla Blonien. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nick Baumann, Ryan (Kathryn) Baumann, Melissa (Ryan) Sestak, Zac (Jennifer) Blonien, Tyler Blonien, Hilary (Matt) Blonien, Ashley (Kevin) Callahan, Brittany (Christian) Sigel,&nbsp;Clint (Tanya) Blonien and Cassandra (Glenn) Robertson. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.

A rosary service will be held at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Hay Springs at 6 p.m. on Oct. 5. Funeral services will be held at St. Columbkille’s on Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.

Just in time for a 1976 tax write off, Valerie Lyn was born on December 30, 1976 to Dennis and Carol Pontine. She left us peacefully, in her sleep, on September 28, 2022.

She attended Bayard schools and worked at too many jobs to list all of them but here are the highlights. Val worked at Chimney Rock Villa as a CNA at an early age, as she loved working with the elderly. She also worked at Cellular One, Aurora Loan Services, Nebraska Title Co. and most recently at RWMC as a desk clerk in radiology.

Val had a passion for golfing, even hitting the ball occasionally, dressing as a deranged Easter Bunny, playing with her dogs Jude and Daisy, and hanging out with friends.

She is survived by her mother Carol Pontine, sister Sue &amp; Jeff Wengler, nephew Tanner Wengler and Paige Kirby, nieces Meisha Wengler and Kylie Wengler, Grandparents Helen &amp; Don Conklin, aunt Debbie &amp; Ron Dudden, uncle Rod &amp; Connie Schwindt, cousins Chris &amp; Erin Dudden, Jared &amp; Lark Dudden, Heather &amp; Dean Macholan and Melissa &amp; Wes Pokorny and special friend Albert Salazar.

Proceeding her in death were her father, Dennis Pontine; grandfather, Albert Schwindt; and grandparents, LeRoy &amp; Esther Pontine.

Arthur (Artie, Junior) was born on September 29, 1947 at Bridgeport, Nebraska to Milford and Nevada (Coker) Blue. He attended grade school in Northport. He went to High School at Bridgeport and graduated in 1966.

After graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy in the fall of 1966. He served in DaNang, Vietnam with the Seabees Adak AK and ended his service at Great Lakes. He worked at Lockwoods and Gifford Hill after coming home. He then worked with Nebraska Dept. of Roads starting December 31, 1978, retiring after 29 years.

He loved gardening, woodworking and watching sports. He was an avid fan of Nebraska Football and Green Bay Packers. His greatest joy was having his nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by his “yard crew” Ethan, Nathan, Collin and Ella. They spent many days with milk and cookies with their uncle Artie.

He is survived by his siblings Lynn (Doug) Hulinsky, Colleen Blue, Clyde (Joan) Blue, Terry Blue and Mike (Jan) Blue; nieces and nephews: Anthony (Nicole) Sacco, Sharon Schluterbusch, Theresa Blue (Pam Kauvar) , Andrea (Kevin) DelCoglin, Chris (Amy) Blue, Andy Blue, Amanda (Will) Spencer, Jamey (Amy) Hunsucker, Jared Matthew, Tiffany Lee, Richard Blue, Toni (Nate) Rice, Terri (Brandon) Stuart, and Skylar Blue; 29 great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.

Donald Ray Haden, age 94, passed away September 25, 2022 at his home.

Donald was born September 11, 1928, in Chadron, Nebraska to Martha Mabel (Grantham) Haden and Rollie Ray Haden.

He grew up in the area known as the Deadhorse Creek Community; where he attended country schools: Evergreen, Flag Butte, and Rose Hill, until he finished the eighth grade. He then attended Chadron High school through the twelfth grade. Graduating in 1946.

When he was a young boy, he loved to hunt and fish. He also ran a trap line, sold enough animal furs to buy a saddle horse. He rode his horse to school in the country and after graduating for the eighth grade rode his horse to catch the rural mail carrier to ride into Chadron to attend high school. Sometimes in the winter he roomed with his aunt who was living in Chadron at the time.

January 22, 1950, he married Martheena Roberts, whom he met during his High School Days. They had two Children: Connie and Steven.

Donald was a country boy at heart. He and his family always lived in the country. He was a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association, and the American Yorkshire Association, he raised both cattle and hogs. He enjoyed checking fences, cattle, and windmills on horseback.

He was always active in community affairs and enjoyed helping neighbors when ever help was needed. He also served on the Rural School Board for several years was also president of the Dawes County Chapter of the Nebraska Farm Bureau for two years. He always enjoyed short road trips to hunt for rocks and just to enjoy the wide-open country. One of his favorite hunts was the Black Hills of South Dakota, where he always spotted something new and interesting.

He always provided well for his family and was a wonderful husband and father. In 2003 he had a farm sale and he and his wife moved into Chadron to retire.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Edna Maxine, great-grandson Zane.

Survivors include his Wife, brother Gayle, 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donald Haden (1928-2022)

Alice Della (Williams) Lux was born on January 12, 1927 at her grandparent’s house near Crawford, Nebraska. She was the third child and only daughter born to Christopher Alvin (Bill) Williams and Ida Della (Pettipiece) Williams. She grew up on the family place 7 ½ miles from Crawford.

She attended school at the nearby District #100, starting when she was 4 years old. She walked the ¼ of a mile each way to the school with her older brother Jimmy and often with the teacher who boarded at her parent’s house. After completing elementary school, she attended high school at Crawford High, boarding in town with the Baker family during her high school years. She graduated at the age of 16 with the Crawford High class of 1943.

After high school Alice worked in Crawford as a paralegal for the local attorney. She worked until she saved enough money to attend beauty school in Omaha. Alice moved to Omaha and worked as a waitress at a small café during the years she attended school. While there she met lifelong friends with whom she continued to communicate throughout her life.

After her completion of beauty school, she moved back to Crawford and opened her own shop. She met her future husband, Gerald Lux, at a dance in Crawford. The story was told that Alice noticed Gerald across the room and asked a friend who he was. The friend introduced them and after 2 ½ years of dating, Alice and Gerald married on August 17, 1950. This was the beginning of a 72-year marriage and partnership.

Alice and Gerald lived in Crawford when they first married, but eventually purchased 80 acres of ground ½ mile east of her parent’s place where she grew up. They moved their family, which by that time included a child. They moved into a railroad boxcar with no electricity or running water and lived there while Gerald and Allice’s dad Bill built a house for the family adding another child before the house was ready. Alice and Gerald eventually moved into the house and added an additional 4 children to the family.

Alice spent most of her 95 years within a mile of the house where she grew up. Alice and Gerald continued to add to their place and raise their children in the house that they built. Alice never minded hard work and always had chickens, a large garden, and milk cows that were a part of the family responsibility.

Alice was known for her homemade bread and her rhubarb pie, which was always a sign that spring had come.

After her children were grown, Alice continued to stay busy. She always enjoyed time with grandchildren, or any children for that matter. They frequently visited the ”old folks” in the Ponderosa Villa into their 90’s. She and Gerald were able to travel including trips to Alaska and Hawaii but Alice never cared to be away from their home on Sawlog Creek for very long.

Alice died on September 25, 2022 at Rock County Hospital/Long Term Care in Bassett, Nebraska where she and Gerald spent her final 2 ½ years. Until the end, visitors to their room often found Alice and Gerald sitting in their recliners holding hands.

Alice is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gerald Lux.  </figure>Alice Della (Williams) Lux was born on January 12, 1927 at her grandparent’s house near Crawford, Nebraska. She was the third child and only daughter born to Christopher Alvin (Bill) Williams and Ida Della (Pettipiece) Williams. She grew up on the family place 7 ½ miles from Crawford.She attended school at the nearby District #100, starting when she was 4 years old. She walked the ¼ of a mile each way to the school with her older brother Jimmy and often with the teacher who boarded at her parent’s house. After completing elementary school, she attended high school at Crawford High, boarding in town with the Baker family during her high school years. She graduated at the age of 16 with the Crawford High class of 1943.After high school Alice worked in Crawford as a paralegal for the local attorney. She worked until she saved enough money to attend beauty school in Omaha. Alice moved to Omaha and worked as a waitress at a small café during the years she attended school. While there she met lifelong friends with whom she continued to communicate throughout her life.After her completion of beauty school, she moved back to Crawford and opened her own shop. She met her future husband, Gerald Lux, at a dance in Crawford. The story was told that Alice noticed Gerald across the room and asked a friend who he was. The friend introduced them and after 2 ½ years of dating, Alice and Gerald married on August 17, 1950. This was the beginning of a 72-year marriage and partnership.Alice and Gerald lived in Crawford when they first married, but eventually purchased 80 acres of ground ½ mile east of her parent’s place where she grew up. They moved their family, which by that time included a child. They moved into a railroad boxcar with no electricity or running water and lived there while Gerald and Allice’s dad Bill built a house for the family adding another child before the house was ready. Alice and Gerald eventually moved into the house and added an additional 4 children to the family.Alice spent most of her 95 years within a mile of the house where she grew up. Alice and Gerald continued to add to their place and raise their children in the house that they built. Alice never minded hard work and always had chickens, a large garden, and milk cows that were a part of the family responsibility.Alice was known for her homemade bread and her rhubarb pie, which was always a sign that spring had come.After her children were grown, Alice continued to stay busy. She always enjoyed time with grandchildren, or any children for that matter. They frequently visited the ”old folks” in the Ponderosa Villa into their 90’s. She and Gerald were able to travel including trips to Alaska and Hawaii but Alice never cared to be away from their home on Sawlog Creek for very long.Alice died on September 25, 2022 at Rock County Hospital/Long Term Care in Bassett, Nebraska where she and Gerald spent her final 2 ½ years. Until the end, visitors to their room often found Alice and Gerald sitting in their recliners holding hands.Alice is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gerald Lux. Linda Staudenmaier (1946 - 2022)

Adabel Lundy passed away March 30th at the Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, Nebraska at the young age of 88.

Memorial services will be Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alliance.  Rev. Gideon Achi will officiate and burial will be in the Hay Springs Cemetery.

She was born March 13, 1934, in Port Orchard, Washington to Floyd Maxson Mix and Minnie (Jorgensen) Mix. She grew up in Hay Springs, Nebraska.

On October 25, 1953, she married Alvin Lundy in Hay Springs, Nebraska and together they had 5 children: Doug, Brian, Gaylene, Bruce and Jeff. They moved to Alliance in September 1956. She met a lot of friends in Alliance some of which would meet at Dairy Queen for coffee every morning at 10. She rarely missed a day to have coffee and they gave her the nickname of DQ mama. She loved her family and enjoyed the visits or calls from them. She was an avid daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Alvin Lundy of 68 years and children: Brian (Lori) Lundy, Gaylene (Earl) Doyle, Bruce (Joyce) Lundy, and Jeffrey (Rebecca) Lundy. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and brother Francis Mix and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son Douglas; and siblings Maxine Bodey, Vetta Dahman, and Tommy Mix

Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held at a later date.

Barbara Maureen Liggett, a loving, calm, curious, and compassionate mother &amp; friend, is now with the Lord and all of our loved ones who have passed on. She passed away at the age of 62, peacefully at home on September 18th, 2022.&nbsp; Maureen was born on December 29th, 1959, in Alliance, Nebraska, to late Mason S. Morrill and late Barbara Ann Burke Morrill. The youngest of four children, she has a special relationship and is close with all three of her brothers and their families.&nbsp; Maureen would say her greatest gift from God are her three children; her children would say it is her kind heart and contagious smile. Her oldest, Maggie Walsh &amp; husband Brian Walsh; Nolan Liggett, whom she enjoyed visiting in Portland, Oregon; the youngest, Carly Grace, a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.&nbsp; Maureen’s light &amp; love shines on many family &amp; friends. Including, Scott Liggett, father of her children. Her brother, Patrick Morrill and his late wife, Jane Morrill, and their children – Mason, Jennifer, Jennifer Johnson, Rebecca Pasnoori, Kate Collins, Connor Fox, and their families. Brother, Glenn Michael Morrill. Brother, Robert Morrill and his wife, Jenay Morrill, and their children – Sunny (future) Allen and James, and their families. She is also a sister, cousin &amp; friend to many across Burke, Pokorski, Liggett &amp; Heaston families.&nbsp;&nbsp; To reflect on a few highlights of her life: Her love for music and her musical talents – she played both six and twelve string guitars, and had a lovely voice. She often used music to communicate or express herself. Enjoying nature - whether that be walks on Tomahawk Creek Trail or a hike in the Shenandoah Mountains. Traveling the sights of the world – from the Pacific Northwest, to the Sandhills of Nebraska, to Husker games around the country, to visiting her oldest during her study abroad in Italy. Her dream was to travel to Ireland, and while unfortunately she wasn’t able to fulfill that, her children are committed to living that out for her. Her care &amp; compassion for helping others – from being a ‘second mom’ to many around her, to the friendships, health and well-being of her Blue Valley Schools community, to her love for animals.&nbsp; A celebration of life visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 from 10am – 12pm at Penwell – Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas. Marvin 'Tuck' Buckley (1933 - 2022)

Melvyn Glenn Price was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Alliance Neb on March 31, 1942 to Glenn Price and Pauline Ada (Estes) Price. He was a lifetime resident of Hemingford, NE and passed away Sept 14, 2022 following complications from heart surgery.

He attended and graduated from Hemingford High School in 1959. In school he was active in sports where he especially liked basketball, lettering in basketball and football. He also enjoyed one-act plays and friendships with other students.

After high school, Mel studied at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. In his second year of college he met Joy Montgomery who was a student at Union College in Lincoln; they were married March 28, 1961. The following summer they moved to Hemingford and purchased 160 acres of irrigated farmland. In 1969, Mel and Joy purchased a second farm of 400 irrigated acres. Crops raised through the years include: potatoes, sugarbeets, dry edible beans, barley, malt barley, wheat, corn, triticale, sunflowers, oats, millet, alfalfa, in addition to a few cows. In 1974, they began developing a dairy hay market in the Loveland, Colo. Area. Later, they started an additional hay business by purchasing a semi-truck to transport hay and grain. To supplement the farm income, Mel became a licensed and bonded grain dealer, buying, selling and hauling the commodities.

In 1976 the Alliance, Neb. Jaycees chose Mel to represent Box Butte County as the Outstanding Young Farmer candidate at the Nebraska Jaycees State Convention in Millard, Neb. Mel was chosen the winner out of a field of 23 candidates. He later competed for the national title at the National Farmer-Rancher Convention in Bismarck, ND.

Mel was a member of the Elks Lodge, Alliance, Neb,, the Alliance Jaycees, and the Hemingford Seventh-day Adventist Church. His favorite bible text was John 21:3, "Simon Peter saith unto them, 'I go a fishing'..."

The most exciting fishing adventure Mel had was in 1992 when, with two of his friends, in Baja, Mexico, on the sea of Cortez near Los Barrilies, they pulled in a Blue Marlin weighing 1,200 pounds with a length of 17 feet and a girth of 78 inches. The marlin was processed and donated to the people of the little village of Los Barriles.

Mel is survived by his wife, Joy, daughter, Rae, a son and numerous relatives and friends.

In lieu of monetary donations, Mel requests that your kindness to others be your memorial.

Michael Louis Hawkins (1952 - 2022)

Dawn Marie Loos, 68, of Scottsbluff, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at The Residency in Scottsbluff.&nbsp; Dawn was born July 17, 1954, in Scottsbluff to Donald E. and Patricia A. (Ryan) Loos. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School. An auto accident early in life limited her ability to work, but Dawn assisted with the family business, Loos Electric Supply, off and on for several years answering phones and filing. Her smiling face greeted the customers and those who called in alike.&nbsp; Dawn contracted West Nile Virus in 2002, leaving her paralyzed virtually from the chest down.&nbsp; She was placed in a long-term skilled nursing facility and remained there until her death.

She had a special love for dogs and horses. Dennis, the Boston Terrier, and Banner, her white horse, were her favorites while living with her parents and grandparents on the ranch.&nbsp; She would go on to share her love of animals and music with her nieces and nephew. Dawn had an eye for detail when working on painting her ceramics and making macromay plant holders. Several of her works were given as gifts.&nbsp; Dawn was a wonderful aunt to her nieces and nephew. They always looked forward to their time spent with her.&nbsp; Dawn was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff. She had a strong faith in the Lord and enjoyed visits from her church family. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff.

Survivors include her sister, Pam (Bill) Bauer of Scottsbluff; brother, David Loos of Mitchell; aunts, Norma Welsh of Omaha and Theil Ryan of Torrington; uncle, Bruce Ryan of Denver, CO; nieces and nephew, Melissa (Jason) Bauer of Scottsbluff, Brooks (Jennifer) Bauer of Greeley, CO, and Candace Konley of Omaha, NE; stepmom, Carol Loos of Charlotte, NC; along with other extended family members.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Sandy Loos; nephew-in-law, James Post; former husband, William Steen; paternal grandparents, Emmanuel and Sarah Loos; maternal grandparents, Eli and Nettie Ryan; uncle, Larry Ryan; aunts and uncles, Geraldine and Walt Herdt, Harriet and Harvey Foos, Sharon and Leroy Moss; along with other extended family members.

Dawn Marie Loos (1954 - 2022)

George Green was a beloved member of his church, his family, and his entire community. George passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the age of 99.

He was born on December 13, 1922 to loving parents Katherine and Conrad Green and was one of seven siblings. George grew up in the Scottsbluff Valley where he attended Victory Hill School, graduated from Scottsbluff High School in the class of 1940, and went on to attend Scottsbluff Junior College.

George went on to purchase and own two successful farms, becoming a high ten sugar beet grower for eight years between 1960 and 1975. Though a hard working farmer, George consistently found time to give back to his community as a 4-H Leader and as Elder and President of the Church Council at St. James Lutheran Church.

One of the most important parts of George’s life was sharing it with his cherished wife Leona Green (nee Reifschneider). They were married for 71 years before she passed. They had three beautiful children that were the lights of their life: George Lee Green, Loren James Green, and Suzanne K Green.

George Green lived a life filled with love, integrity, and appreciation for God’s Plan.

He is survived by George L. Green and wife Judy Green, Loren Green and wife Tricia Green, and Suzanne Green Johnston, and his four granddaughters Amy, Sara, Stephanie, and Charlotte and four great grandchildren Austin, Aiden, Lily, and Drake who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by wife Leona Green (nee Reifschneider), and siblings Mary (Jack) Reichert, Con (Florine) Green, Kate (Henry) Rieb, Henry (Sheila) Green, Annie (Henry) Aschenbrenner, Helen (Charles) Andrews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 5 pm to 7 pm at the Dugan Kramer Funeral Home and funeral services will be on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2 pm at St. James Lutheran Church. George Green (1922 - 2022)

Toni Lichius, 77, of Bayard, passed away peacefully after a 3-month battle with cancer on September 12, 2022, at the Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, Sept 16, 2022, at the Community Bible Church with Pastor Brad Kilthau officiating. Interment will follow at Bayard Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Bible Church. Toni was born Toni Kay Nixon on January 11, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Clara Nixon but was adopted at birth by Ora and Mabel Day. She grew up and attended elementary and Jr High school in Detroit, Michigan. At age 11, while attending church, she accepted Christ as her Savior and spent the rest of her life serving Him. At age 13, she moved to Greenville, South Carolina where she attended Bob Jones Academy until she graduated in 1962. She went on to attend Bob Jones University for one year studying Home Economics. This is where she met her future husband, Joseph Lichius. They were united in marriage on August 17, 1963. To this union, four children were born. (David, Mark, Daniel and Beth.) Toni spent most of her married years as a Pastor’s wife serving in rural churches with her husband. She was a stay-at-home mother while also serving in her church as a Sunday School teacher, Awana Leader, Bible study leader and a Mentor to six very special young women, but her most treasured passion was being a wife and mother. Toni took great pride in raising a garden every year and canning her goods to help feed her family. She later enjoyed planting flowers and watching them bloom each spring. She also had a love of reading. Toni was an avid seamstress and quilter. She loved to do this handy work with much love for whomever she was sewing/quilting for. In 1988, she met her birth mother and formed a bond with her over the next several years. From 1990-2000, she worked for Dr. Danny Peterson as a Dental Assistant. From 2000-2002, she worked for Dr David Dewey as a Dental Assistant and from 2002-2006, she worked at Community Christian School as a Teacher’s Aide. In 2006, she retired and began serving as the church custodian at Community Bible Church until her health would not allow her to continue to work. Toni was a member of the Panhandle Quilt Guild. She was also a member of Community Bible Church for 43 years and served with the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. Yvonne was born August 7, 1926, in Gordon, Nebraska to Cecil Andrew and Vera Isabel (Sellers) Dahlgren. Yvonne attended school through the 8th grade in rural Cherry County located near the family ranch, south of Merriman, Nebraska. She then attended and graduated from high school in Hay Springs, Nebraska while boarding with her Aunt Anna and Uncle Arthur (Pete) Peterson. After graduation, her family moved to Gordon from the ranch and Yvonne returned to Gordon and attended two years of schooling at the Gordon Bible School. Yvonne met Donald Fitts at a church roller skating party on New Year’s Eve, 1945 and married June 30, 1946. They returned to farm the family farm and raise cattle northeast of Minatare, Nebraska. They were blessed with 75 years of marriage before Donald passed in October of 2021. From this union, four children were born: Gary, Royce, Marilyn and Linda. Although she often longed for her beloved Sandhills and horses, Yvonne relentlessly assisted Donald on the farm with cattle and crops and harvest. She was known to throw a banquet on the table at moment’s notice if an extended family member or stranger happened to drive into the yard. Yvonne devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Her commitment was to “. . . Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it…” (Prov. 22:6. paraphrased.) Christian education was important to Yvonne. Memorials are suggested to the Sunday School and Youth programs at the Scottsbluff First Church of God and the Gordon First Church of God. Wilma Jean Snider went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of September 4, 2022.

Jean was born on May 21, 1934 in Bayard, Nebraska, at her Grandparent’s homestead.

She was the daughter of Fred and Mable Steffensmeier.

She married Arthur Dean Snider in January 1951, and then finished High School, graduating in 1951. They were married 47 years until his death in 1998. She loved her family and had 3 children: Arthur F Snider, Debi Matchen, and LaVonna Hasler.

She was an Electronic Engineer for 25 years. Jean trick trained and performed horses, and raised many Arabian and Quarter horse paints. She bred and showed beautiful Yorkshire Terriers. She had the 6th Yorkie in the United States and showed at Westminster of New York. She was President of the Canary Bird Club in Casper WY, and even trained a Falcon and taught a Magpie to talk.

She cherished and valued time spent with her loved ones most of all, and read her Bible every day.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur D. Snider, and daughter, Lavonna J. Hasler.

Left to mourn her passing include her son, Arthur F. (Starla) Snider; daughter Debi (Mike) Matchen; son-in-law, Tom Hasler; brother, Freddie Steffensmeier; grand-children, Jolene Tjaden, Gina Jones, Adam Snider, Katie Vine, Angela Hasler, Katie Hasler, Paul Hasler, Jessica Watters, Matthew Matchen; and her 16 great-grandchildren, Vanessa Jones, Alexus Fryman, Sagan Jones, Maddie Tjaden, Cody Tjaden, Kobe Tjaden, Caleb Tjaden, Kaylee Vine, Khloe Vine, Faith Vine, Levi Snider, Tristen Airola, Samual Airola, Alexander Matchen, Logan Watters, and Landan Watters.

Jean requested a private grave-side funeral which will be held at the Bayard City Cemetery.

(Starla) Snider; daughter Debi (Mike) Matchen; son-in-law, Tom Hasler; brother, Freddie Steffensmeier; grand-children, Jolene Tjaden, Gina Jones, Adam Snider, Katie Vine, Angela Hasler, Katie Hasler, Paul Hasler, Jessica Watters, Matthew Matchen; and her 16 great-grandchildren, Vanessa Jones, Alexus Fryman, Sagan Jones, Maddie Tjaden, Cody Tjaden, Kobe Tjaden, Caleb Tjaden, Kaylee Vine, Khloe Vine, Faith Vine, Levi Snider, Tristen Airola, Samual Airola, Alexander Matchen, Logan Watters, and Landan Watters.Jean requested a private grave-side funeral which will be held at the Bayard City Cemetery.

Wilma Jean Snider (1934 - 2022)

Georgia Daughters was born June 11, 1935, in Custer, SD to Homer and Margaret (Hovelshrud) Westover. Georgia passed away September 6th, 2022, at Bennett County Hospital in Martin, SD. She was 87 years old.

Georgia grew up in rural Martin, SD. Georgia was a very hard worker and made food service into a career. Started working as a waitress at Tally's in Rapid City, SD, Club Café in Martin, SD, Vesta’s in Martin, SD, managed Markota Acres with her sister Jan, until finally deciding to open her own restaurant in Martin, SD. She started Geo's Steak House and had her restaurant for around 20 years. After selling her restaurant Georgia volunteered and did the foster grandparent program with Martin Grade school. At nearly 80 years old she finally retired.

Georgia is survived by her sister Jan Harris. Georgia has 5 children. Rhonda (Martin) Robuck, Marty (Jim) Hoffner, Carla, Arlana Bettelyoun, and Blaine Brown.

Georgia had many grandkids. Georgia was one of the most unique grandmas a person could have. The cussing, keeping you in line, and telling it like it is. She was never the Hallmark type of grandma those are dull. She was an amazing cook though. Georgia also had many great grandkids, great-great grandkids, and even great-great-great grandkids. Georgia also has numerous nephews and nieces.

For more than 30 years Georgia remained with Frank Marshall. He was a stepfather to her children and grandpa to her grandchildren. When Frank's health started declining, they shared a room together up until his passing. Georgia kept his wallet with his IDs with her at all times after his passing.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Frank Marshall, her brothers Dean Westover, Terry Westover, and a favorite son-in-law to be Larry Bear Killer Sr.

Pallbearers are Terry D Nelson, Elbridge Ward, Rodney Coon, Grandsons Troy Smith ll, Richard Bettelyoun Jr, Braden Brown, Jordan High Horse, Arrow Curry, Shayne Curry, Gene Standing Bear Jr, and Virgil Clausen.

Honorary Pallbearers are all friends and relatives.

Arrangements are one night wake service starting at 4pm Sunday September 11th with the funeral on Monday at 10am. To be held at the new American Legion in Martin SD.

William T. “Bill” Smith, 64, died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO.

Bill was born March 19, 1958 in Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp; He spent his childhood in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School in 1976.&nbsp; Following graduation, he worked in various jobs before starting his career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.&nbsp; After nearly 40 years of service, he retired from the railroad in 2018.

He was an avid volleyball fan, enjoying all kinds of volleyball and participated in leagues throughout the area.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed watching Husker Volleyball games.

Bill’s nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews were his pride and joy.&nbsp; He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand while he was able.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen M. Cameron.

As per Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place and memorials may be given to the Alliance Berean Church,&nbsp;1639 Emerson Ave., Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.
