Gilbert L. Sullivan, 74, passed away at his home on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by his family.

He was born November 11, 1946 in Hanover, PA to Gilbert L., Sr. and Ruth (Ambrosius) Sullivan.

Gil joined the United States Navy in 1964 and served his country until 1970.&nbsp; He married Donna Jones and to this union, three children were born, Shannon, Amy and Lannie.&nbsp; Gil worked on the Rock Island Railroad before moving to Nebraska to work on the Burlington Northern Railroad.&nbsp; On August 28, 1987, he married Marcia M. McCune, making their home in Hemingford.

Gil never met a stranger because of his big heart and would do anything for his friends and family.&nbsp; His final gift was donating his body to science so that he could continue to help others after he was gone.

Gil is survived by his wife, Marcia; his children, Shannon Sullivan, Amy (Mike) Miller, Lannie (Jamie) Sullivan, Heather (Fred) Ash and Nathan (Hidie) McCune; grandchildren, Nathaniel Sullivan, Damian, Chandler, Reese and Ashten Miller, Lawson and Lydia Sullivan, Trevor (Brittany) Benge, Tanner (Ashley) Benge, Kamryn Ash and Madison and Gabe Bland; great-grandchildren, Quinton Benge and Asher Randolph.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brother, George (Nita) Sullivan; his sisters, Norma (Chuck) Womack and Lois Jean Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Jim Simmons, and his granddaughter, Emma McCune.

As per Gil’s wishes, no services will be held.&nbsp; There will be a family memorial service held at a later date.

Gilbert L. Sullivan (1946 - 2021)

Lois Jurene Odell, 82, died Friday, April 2, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.&nbsp;

She was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska May 31, 1938 to Alexander and Rosena L. (Langhofer) Meter, Jr.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was baptized&nbsp;as an infant August 7, 1938.&nbsp;&nbsp;She attended rural school in Bayard.&nbsp; The family moved to the farm east of Alliance.&nbsp; She graduated from Alliance High in 1955 at nearly 17 years old.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Jurene married Donald Wayne Odell on June 24, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance.&nbsp; They had three children.&nbsp; At the time of their marriage in 1956, she worked as a bookkeeper at DeBolt Implement Co. and Don was an employee of Panhandle Rural Electric.&nbsp; He then was an E-5 in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, serving in&nbsp;Budingen, Germany for most of that time, where she lived with him.&nbsp; &nbsp;She sold AVON for many years, enabling her to be home and raise her children.&nbsp; Jurene was extremely creative and loved building projects.&nbsp; She and Don built their home&nbsp;themselves in 1962, using the blueprint design she created.&nbsp; Her passion for her home was her beautiful yard and flower gardens.&nbsp; She enjoyed the visits and coffee time with her close friends and neighbors.&nbsp; &nbsp;Up until she moved to Highland Park Assisted Living, you could find her out in a lawn chair pulling weeds.&nbsp; She built from wood a child’s life-like kitchen set for Vicki, which is still played with and enjoyed by her great grandkids.&nbsp; Jurene and Don built wooden barns for each of their&nbsp;kids’ families to enjoy.&nbsp; She created out of ply-wood, “Santa’s Workshop” - cut out and painted life size figures of Santa, a snowman, a deer, and a bunch of busy elves preparing for Christmas.&nbsp; Brian and his family enjoyed putting them up in North Platte, and Vicki had them at the ranch.&nbsp; This last Christmas she got to enjoy them outside of her window at Highland Park Assisted Living.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;She lived at Highland Park for 1 year, 9 months; and that was her home, cherishing her love of friends and staff and the good food.&nbsp; She was happy and kept busy with activities, developing her love again for painting landscapes on canvas or shingles and barns on rocks.&nbsp; Her paintings were inspired partly from the joy of watching birds outside her window.&nbsp; Our job was to keep the feeders full so she and everyone inside could enjoy them.

Jurene loved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She and Don followed their kids and grandkids in whatever activities they were involved in.&nbsp; Camping, fishing, following Brian in boxing, Vicki and Jason in band, many,&nbsp;many years at the baseball fields, following all sports the kids and grandkids were involved in.&nbsp; One of her favorite things she loved talking about were the trips to the Bridgeport Pits; enjoying watching her great grandkids.&nbsp; She loved her trips to North Platte, keeping busy with making salsa and having fun.&nbsp; Fun time for all the years included a good game of cards with everyone.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She raised her family strict, but with good and Godly morals.&nbsp;

Jurene is survived by her children, Vicki (Don) Freiberger of Alliance, Brian (Peggy) Odell of North Platte, and Jason (Bette) Odell of Alliance; her grandchildren and their families, Justin (Allie) Freiberger (Kimber, Teagan, Jensen); Josh (Josie) Freiberger (Cadence, Logan, Rachel, Jack); Joe Odell; Tim (Amanda) Odell (Caleb, Isaiah, Lydia); Cody (Jenna) Odell (Kalieb and a baby girl on the way); Michael and Derek Odell.&nbsp; She is also survived by her brother, Ron (Ruthe) Meter of Alliance; her brother-in-law, Don Speer of Manteca, CA; sisters-in-law, Jean Meter of Bismarck, ND and Betty Brammer of Morrison, CO; her uncle, Reiny Meter of Bayard, NE; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Odell; her parents, Alexander and Rosena Meter, Jr.; Don’s parents, Oscar and Mary Odell; her sister, Lorna Speer; her brother, Bob Meter; sister-in-law,&nbsp;Kukee&nbsp;Meter; and brother-in-law Elmer Brammer.

Memorial services will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; Pastor Bob Gump will officiate.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.

Memorials may be given to the Highland Park Assisted Living or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Jeffrey Allan Asmus, 59, of Scottsbluff, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his home. His memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. He attended Western Nebraska Technical College in Sidney, Nebraska where he was on the Dean’s List for Heavy Equipment Operations. While attending WNTC, he also worked for Nebraska Transport Co., loading and unloading transport trucks. He continued to live and work in Sidney for multiple years. Eventually, Jeff moved back to Scottsbluff and went to work for Culligan Water Conditioning. He also helped his father maintain his rental properties. Growing up, he spent many hours with family and friends at Lake Minatare boating, camping and water skiing. He was an accomplished slalom skier. Jeff was also an avid hunter and then realized his true passion was fishing. He spent countless hours at Lake Minatare and Lake McConaughy always trying to catch “the big one”. He was able to take his trip of a lifetime accompanying his father to fish the waters of Alaska. Jeff had many talents, one of which was detailing vehicles, motorcycles, and boats. He could make an old car look like it just came from a new car lot. He was also talented enough to play guitar, harmonica, trumpet, and piano. Jeff was ready, willing and able to help anyone who asked, whether it was mowing a lawn, fixing a car, or helping friends move. He was his mother’s on-call handy man. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a collector of many different items such as marbles, Match Box cars, and ash trays, to name a few. Jeffrey Allan Asmus (1961 - 2021)

A Celebration of Life for 82-year old Robert “Bob” Lembke will be held this summer on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Open Door Church, south of Chadron, NE on Table Road.

Robert (Bob) Lembke was born on January 23, 1939, to Carl and Martha (Lichte) Lembke and passed away at home on March 27, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Bob was one of seven children raised on the family homestead near Dunlap, NE.&nbsp;

He attended grade school at Cottonwood Creek, a one-room schoolhouse originally located on the ranch before eventually moving to Highway 385. He also attended Chadron Prep in Chadron.&nbsp;

Bob married Violet Perkins, the love of his life, on February 27, 1960, and together they took over ranch responsibilities and continued farming and ranching for almost 60 year.&nbsp;

In addition to running cattle, they operated a successful feedlot and trucking business.&nbsp;

Bob was a lifetime rancher who could do just about anything and often did – always working hard providing the absolutely best loving, caring life for his family.&nbsp;

Bob was in the Nebraska National Guard from 1958-1961, qualifying as a sharpshooter. He was also a long-time member of the Elk’s Lodge.&nbsp;

Bob was a driving force and inspiration to his family and all who knew him. His family will always remember him for his strong work ethic, firm belief in self-reliance and personal responsibility.&nbsp;

Friends and neighbors will fondly recall his stories of coyote hunting, card games at Dunlap, and his prank playing.&nbsp;

Bob is survived by Violet, his wife of 61 years; their three daughters Nancy (Peter) Marino of Pampa, FL; Twila Leeling of Broadwater, NE; and Donna (Bryce) Dexter of Hemingford, NE.&nbsp;

Grandchildren: Levi (Nicole) Leeling; RaShae (Josh) Walker; Taya (Thomas) Sterkel and Tanner Lembke as well as seven great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Wayne, and Myron; Sister Glendoris Rash and sisters-in-law Ethel and Kay Lembke.&nbsp;

Thank you to all our family, friends, and caregivers who have supported us, loved us, and grieved with us at this difficult time.

Memorials will be determined at a later date.Robert (Bob) Lembke was born on January 23, 1939, to Carl and Martha (Lichte) Lembke and passed away at home on March 27, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.Bob was one of seven children raised on the family homestead near Dunlap, NE.&nbsp;He attended grade school at Cottonwood Creek, a one-room schoolhouse originally located on the ranch before eventually moving to Highway 385. He also attended Chadron Prep in Chadron.&nbsp;Bob married Violet Perkins, the love of his life, on February 27, 1960, and together they took over ranch responsibilities and continued farming and ranching for almost 60 year.&nbsp;In addition to running cattle, they operated a successful feedlot and trucking business.&nbsp;Bob was a lifetime rancher who could do just about anything and often did – always working hard providing the absolutely best loving, caring life for his family.&nbsp;Bob was in the Nebraska National Guard from 1958-1961, qualifying as a sharpshooter. He was also a long-time member of the Elk’s Lodge.&nbsp;Bob was a driving force and inspiration to his family and all who knew him. His family will always remember him for his strong work ethic, firm belief in self-reliance and personal responsibility.&nbsp;Friends and neighbors will fondly recall his stories of coyote hunting, card games at Dunlap, and his prank playing.&nbsp;Bob is survived by Violet, his wife of 61 years; their three daughters Nancy (Peter) Marino of Pampa, FL; Twila Leeling of Broadwater, NE; and Donna (Bryce) Dexter of Hemingford, NE.&nbsp;Grandchildren: Levi (Nicole) Leeling; RaShae (Josh) Walker; Taya (Thomas) Sterkel and Tanner Lembke as well as seven great-grandchildren.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Wayne, and Myron; Sister Glendoris Rash and sisters-in-law Ethel and Kay Lembke.&nbsp;Thank you to all our family, friends, and caregivers who have supported us, loved us, and grieved with us at this difficult time.

Judith A Taylor (Bolek) was born March 30, 1944 to Joseph and Edna Bolek in Rushville, NE.&nbsp;

Judy was finally reunited with the love of her life on April 2, 2021. Her beloved husband of 51 years (June 1, 1963) Jack Taylor, died in 2014, and Judy spent the last six years talking about how much she was looking forward to seeing him in heaven.&nbsp; Together they lived out most of her life in the Sandhills on ranches.&nbsp; After retiring, they moved to Ogalalla to be involved with their grandchildren.&nbsp; During that time she shared her love with numerous children she babysat.&nbsp; Judy was a kind person, great cook, and gentle soul.&nbsp; Jack and Judy shared a love for children and together they raised 3 children Stesha (Nick) Burri of Ogallala, Chris Taylor of New Mexico and Stella (Jim) Coldiron of Kentucky.&nbsp; Her grandchildren Tyler and Kade Robertson and Rylee Burri of Ogallala, Celia (Michael) Smith &amp; 2 Great Granddaughters, Phoenicia, Tamara and Jacob Coldiron of Kentucky.&nbsp; She is also survived by her sister Patricia (John) Bauer ,&nbsp; brothers Gary (Vikki) Bolek, Richard (Carolyn) Bolek, Joe (Judy) Bolek, Lynn Bolek and numerous other family members and close friends.&nbsp; She was proceeded in death by numerous family members including her mother, father, brothers Dwayne, Larry, Melvin, Jerry and numerous nieces nephews and other family members.&nbsp;

Dylan Blake Shoemaker, 27, passed away April 2, 2021 at his home in Chadron, Nebraska.

He was born November 19, 1993 in Alliance to Kristy Shoemaker and David Lewis.&nbsp; He was adopted by Travis Shoemaker in 2001.&nbsp; Dylan was currently working as a cook at Helen’s Restaurant in Chadron.

Dylan loved hunting and fishing.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his son, Noah and he enjoyed playing basketball with his sister, Janaye.&nbsp;&nbsp; He had a heart of gold and would do anything to help other people. Dylan loved his sisters and especially enjoyed his phone calls with his mom. He truly will be missed.

He is survived by his parents, Travis and Kristy Shoemaker and David Lewis, his son, Noah, his sisters Brooke and Janaye Shoemaker, and Daveigha Lewis, his grandparents, Gene Kling, Jinny Shoemaker, Linda Lewis, his great-grandmother, Norma Todd and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred Shoemaker and Peggy Kling.&nbsp;

Susan Irene Forsstrom, beloved mother, grandmother, wife passed away on March 31, 2021 at her home.

She was born April 16, 1944 in Rockland, Maine to Robert and Anna Power. She married Larry Forsstrom on January 15, 1966 in New London, CT.

She earned her RN degree from Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing in New London, CT. Susan and Larry moved to Lincoln, NE where Susan worked in the neonatal unit at Lincoln General Hospital. Their daughter Anna was born in 1971 in Lincoln, NE. Soon after the birth of their daughter, Susan and Larry moved to Alliance to be close to family. She continued nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Alliance and then BBGH.

Susan never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She always made sure to send out a beautiful card with specially placed stickers on the envelope, and an extra little note about how much she loved you.

She is survived by her husband Larry Forsstrom of Alliance, NE. Daughter Anna and Glen Schild of Rapid City, S.D., grandchildren Nathan and Jacob Schild of Rapid City S.D., sister Loretta and Mike Debolt of The Dalles, OR., sister-in law-, Sharon Griffith and Jeff Cole of Alliance, brother-in-law Mark Forsstrom of Osceola, IA., and best friend Catherine Peterson of Hot Springs, S.D.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, sister Maureen Power, mother-in-law Anna Forsstrom, and brother-in-law Jerry Griffith.

No services will be held as requested by Susan.

Marilyn was born November 15, 1953 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Marion L. and Pauline (Wise) Jacobs.

She married Timothy Hutchings on February 18, 1985.&nbsp; To this union, a daughter, Jennifer was born.&nbsp; They later divorced.&nbsp; Marilyn lived in Cape Girardeau, Missouri most of her life working as the Adult Services Associate at the library. She was also an adjunct professor at Southeast Missouri State University teaching English.&nbsp; She had a love for genealogy research and was an avid book reader.&nbsp; She moved to Alliance, Nebraska in December of 2020 to be near her family.

She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Jim Pruitt of Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Sister Karen McCrory, 74, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center.

She was born October 28, 1946 in Canon City, CO to Charles Lowell and Arletta Leona (Klepper) McCrory. She received her associate’s degree from Adams State College in 1971.

Sister Karen followed the Lord’s call to the Sisters of St. Francis and entered as a candidate at Marycrest Convent in Denver on June 11, 1975.&nbsp; She professed her vows on June 4, 1978.

Sister Karen’s ministry began in Pastoral Ministry at Marycrest in Denver and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot, ND. In 1987 she began mission work in Tanzania, Africa for 3 years. She would then return to Minot in pastoral ministry. In 1998 she moved to Denver and attended Cottonwood School of Massage Therapy.&nbsp; In 2004 she relocated to Alliance and opened her own office.&nbsp; Sister Karen would continue her ministry in massage therapy in both Alliance and Denver.&nbsp; While in Denver she also worked in ministry for the Guadalupe Community and in Alliance with parish ministry at Holy Rosary Parish. She retired in 2017.

She is survived by her brother, Loren McCrory of Cahone, CO, and her niece and nephews, Braden McCrory, Morgen McCrory and Shawn McCrory of Colorado.&nbsp;

Funeral services will be Monday, April 5 at Marian Chapel.&nbsp; Due to COVID concerns, the service will be private.&nbsp; A link to a Zoom viewing of the service will be posted to Sr. Karen’s memorial page at www.batesgould.com when it becomes available prior to service time. Jack Allen Moss, 64 passed away at his home at Lake Texoma, Texas on March 23rd, 2021.

Jack was born on May 31st, 1956 in Alliance, NE and raised by Dorothy and Verle Moss. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1974. He served in the Army National Guard for four years. While living in Alliance Jack worked for BNSF as a pipefitter.

Jack was united in marriage to Jane Beiber in 1976. From this union they welcomed three children Stephanie, Ryan, and Renee.

Jack moved to Texas in 1997. In 2003 he married Angie Stewart. Together they made Southlake, Texas their home.

While living in Texas, Jack enjoyed working for Coca Cola and MillerCoors. He found his dream job in Sacramento, California at Blue Diamond Almond. Working for Blue Diamond Almond gave him the opportunity of traveling the world. He retired in February 2020 and was enjoying the retirement life living at Lake Texoma, Texas and frequently traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Jack lived each day to the fullest. He had a passion for fishing, boating and being by the water and enjoyed sharing that passion with everyone he loved. Jack loved traveling the world and was always ready for the next adventure. Jack loved sharing all of his favorite places with us.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Stephanie( Aaron) Frohman and Renee Moss (Chris Callan) of Alliance and his son, Ryan (Stephanie) Moss of Valley, NE, his grandchildren, Keegan, Braden and Brooklyn Frohman of Alliance ,and Hudson and Harper Moss of Valley, NE. He is also survived by his siblings, Janet Nunes of Lincoln, NE, Joan (Mike) Shannon, twin sister Jill (Roger) Bauer, Margie Moss all of Alliance, Verla (Bryon) Murray of Bozeman, MT, George Moss of Columbus, GA and Terri (Ron) Wood of Hemingford, NE and father, Verle Moss of Alliance, NE.&nbsp; He is also survived by Jane Moss of Alliance and Angie Moss of Southlake, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Moss and brother, Jerry Nunes.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday April 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance, NE with Pastor Gideon Achi officiating.&nbsp; Burial with military honors will be at the Alliance Cemetery. A reception to follow at Newberry's in Alliance.

Jack Allen Moss (1956 - 2021)

Virginia L. (Bolek) Best, 85, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Hemingford Community Care Center.&nbsp;Graveside services will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alliance Cemetery.  Mr. Greg Carter will officiate.

Virginia “Ginger” was born September 15, 1935 to Arlie G. and Vernona (Irwin) Gilliam in Hay Springs, Nebraska where she grew up and attended school.

She married Melvin Bolek in early 1953 and resided on the Forney Ranch for a short time. They traveled and lived in Pennsylvania while Melvin served our country in the Armed Forces, later moving to Alliance and raising their family at 508 Hudson. They are the parents of 2 boys and 2 girls. During this time she worked at Don's Café. After Melvin's untimely death on December 11, 1968, Virginia&nbsp;was faced with raising 4 children alone and forced to learn how to drive a car and find employment. She&nbsp;worked for RK Nelson as an accountant for several years and later completing her career and retiring from the Guardian State Bank in the accounting department in 1986.

On December 3, 1974, Virginia married Robert “Bob” Best in Rawlings, Wyoming and they resided at the home on 508 Hudson.&nbsp;After their retirement, they enjoyed fishing and relaxing at their vacation home at Lake McConaughy.

Virginia also enjoyed making ceramics, playing cards with family, camping, fishing and reading.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Vicki) Bolek of Alliance, Mark Bolek of Westminster, CO; Daughters, Vickie Butler of Henry, NE, and Debra (Jon) DeBusk of Las Vegas, NV.; Sisters, Lois Johnson of Chadron, Rita (John) Jungck of Rawlings, WY; Step-children, David (Linda) Best of Conowingo, MD, Richard (Bonny) Best of Alliance, Ron (Robyn) Best of Sterling CO, Randy (Terri) Best of Arvada, CO, Denny (Carol) Best of Rapid City, SD and Debbie (Scott) Dagit of Cedar Fall, IA. She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren,&nbsp;3 Great-Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Melvin, her second husband Robert “Bob”, her brother-in-law Harland Johnson and her nephew, Doug Johnson.

Virginia L. (Bolek) Best (1935 - 2020)

Jack LeRoy Woods, 80, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home in Alliance.

He was born on February 9, 1941 in Alliance to Elmer Milo and Inez (Dempsey) Woods.&nbsp; Jack graduated from Alliance High School and served in the U.S. Army.&nbsp; He considered his time in the army as the best thing that ever happened to him.&nbsp;&nbsp; A lifelong resident of Alliance Jack worked for Sloan Irrigation, Prairie States Feedlot and Alliance Tractor and Implement Company. He retired from there after 30 years employment in 2007.

On April 3, 1970 he was united in marriage to Theresa Ann Hooper in Hot Springs, SD.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa, his sons, Scott (Angela) Woods of Alliance and Andy (Willa) Woods of Scottsbluff, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Sharon) Woods of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Walter and Elmer, and his sisters, Betty Davis, Margaret Hewitt and Leota Haskett.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Jeanie Sedivy officiating.&nbsp; Burial with military honors will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Jack LeRoy Woods (1941 - 2021)

Curtis Alan Deines, age 52, passed away on March 19, 2021. Born in Torrington, WY, he was the youngest child of Leonard and Janice Deines. His older sister Staci John was not only his lifelong friend but one of his biggest fans. She also made him a proud uncle of two nieces.

Growing up in Torrington he was always on a sports team or could be found outside playing with his neighborhood friends. During Curt’s high school days, he was active in football, baseball, wrestling, and track. He had the best high school friends and had multiple stories of high school shenanigans. Curt graduated from Torrington High in 1987.

Curt then went on to Chadron State College, played football as a center and graduated with an education degree in 1996. His parents never missed a game in his college career. He played with some greats including Steward Perez, Don Beebe, and Davey Jones. In 2012 he was inducted into the Chadron State Football Hall of Fame.

Little did Curt know that when he met his future wife on her 2nd day on campus in 1988, he would end up marrying the love of his life that later turned into a nearly 30-year marriage. Curt and Sonya were married on November 30th, 1991. This November would have been their 30th wedding anniversary.

From there, in 1997 he entered into service with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in maintenance of way and then transferred into train service as a conductor for the last several years. Curt was looking forward to retirement in seven years, which would finish his career of 30 years of service for BNSF. He cherished the thought of retirement and being able to spend more time with family and friends.

His family began when his first-born Colin was born in 1994 and his daughter KayLeah in 1996. He enjoyed watching Colin play the same sports as he did, never missing a varsity contest. He enjoyed bonding with his daughter playing golf, softball, and teaching her how to drive a stick shift. Other proud moments of his children include watching both of them graduate from Chadron High, and later both graduating from college. He was so proud to see his daughter get married and later become a mother of twins. His last proudest memory was that of his son swearing in as a police officer in Chadron, serving our local community.

Curt enjoyed friends and reminiscing over the good ole days. He loved to watch his favorite sports teams including the Denver Broncos, Wyoming Cowboys and the Huskers. His hobbies were golfing, camping, and tinkering on projects in his shop while enjoying a cold one. But his favorite joy was watching Colin and KayLeah succeed in life and most recently be a grandpa to Chesney and Brentley who are now two years old.

Curt was loved by all and will be greatly missed for his big heart and infectious laugh. The role Curt played in each of our lives will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Sonya Deines, son, Colin Deines and girlfriend, Catie Williams, daughter, KayLeah King, husband Robert, grandchildren, Chesney and Brentley King. Parents&nbsp;Janice and Leonard Deines. Sister, Staci John, husband Matt, nieces&nbsp;Courtney Williams and Korinne John. Curtis Alan Deines (1968 - 2021)

Lila Fiebig, 97, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Lila Lee Vanderwerth was born in Bryan, Texas on October 1, 1923.&nbsp; She graduated from Stephen F. Austin Senior High School, Bryan, TX in 1940, and from Texas State College for Women, Denton, TX in 1943.

She worked in Corpus Christi, TX for Celanese Corporation; San Francisco for the Atomic Energy Commission; New Haven, CT, for the FBI; and in Denver, CO for the Shell Oil Company.

She and Glen Fiebig were married in Denver on June 4, 1955.&nbsp; They lived in Alliance all of their married life.&nbsp; Glen preceded Lila in death on October 4, 2014.

Glen and Lila had two children. Glen, Jr. died of leukemia in 1992.&nbsp; He received his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from University of Nebraska and his master’s in electrical engineering from Iowa State.&nbsp; He worked for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, MD.&nbsp; He was married to Carolyn Brittain.

Glen and Lila established the Glen A. Fiebig, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska for upperclassmen in electrical engineering.

Lee Ann, who lives with her husband David Mathine and son Thomas Glen in Albuquerque, NM, received her bachelor’s in computer science engineering from University of Nebraska, her master’s from Purdue University in electrical engineering, and her PhD in biomedical engineering from Arizona State University.

Lila taught Spanish, English, typing and ACT at Alliance High School.

She was active in the Republican Party; she served as county chairman and coordinator for many candidates and on state committees.&nbsp; She was also a delegate to four national conventions.

She was a member of the Chancellor’s Club of the University of Nebraska Foundation; the First Presbyterian Church; a Trustee of the Nebraska State Historical Society; a member of the Republican State Central Committee; Secretary of the Box Butte County Republican Central Committee; Electoral College Delegate; and Secretary of the Box Butte General Hospital Building Committee.

Memorials may be given to the University of Nebraska Foundation,&nbsp;1010 Lincoln Mall #300, Lincoln, NE&nbsp; 68508&nbsp;to support the Hope Fund for Lymphoma and Leukemia Research.

Corwin LeRoy Hatcher, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

He was born March 30, 1938 in Cozad, Nebraska to Corwin and Esther (McNulty) Hatcher.

He graduated from Cozad High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College.&nbsp; He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 3 years including a time of active deployment.

On June 30, 1963 he was united in marriage to Barbara K. Pepler in Alliance.&nbsp;

He lived in Golden, Colorado where he and his business partner operated SFFA, Inc, a computer software company designing software for leasing companies.&nbsp; When they retired they enjoyed living at Lake McConaughy and RVing.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Alliance, his daughter, Jill Hatcher-Keiser and special friend, Dana Moore of Prescott Valley, AZ, his son, Bryan Hatcher of Alliance, and his grandchildren, Jessica Dunn, Dallas Keiser, Corwin Hatcher, Brice Hatcher and Samantha Ashwanden.&nbsp; He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Anderson of Lexington, NE and Twyla and husband, Kurt Gengenbach of Spring, TX and his brother, Jim and his wife Lynne Hatcher of Cozad, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gregory and his brothers, Ronald and Gary.

Corwin LeRoy Hatcher (1938 - 2021)

Betty Mae (Bauer) Bedient, 82, of Hemingford, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Hemingford Community Care Center.

She was born March 11, 1939 to Earl Orin Bauer and Lillian (Henderson) Bauer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. She was the oldest of three children.

She grew up on a ranch ten miles east of Alliance. The Bauer family ranch was always full of love and laughter and welcomed countless family gatherings over the years.

Betty attended school in a one room schoolhouse a few miles from their home. She rode to school in a little Willy's Jeep, walked or rode horseback. The school house didn't have indoor plumbing and they got water by pumping it from a red pump, and the bathroom was an outhouse.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She then graduated from Alliance High School in 1957. She attended Alliance Beauty College graduating in 1958. She worked as a beautician for a year and enjoyed cutting the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews hair as long as her hands would allow.

Betty met Theo Bedient in Alliance through mutual friends “Cruising the Butte”. They were married May 6, 1962 in Alliance at the United Methodist Church.

They lived in Rushville and then Bayard and settled in Alliance before retiring to the original Bedient family homestead north of Hemingford. To this union four children were born, Kimberly, Brenda, Roger and James.

Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hemingford. She was Sunday school superintendent of the Methodist Church in Alliance and taught Sunday school there for many years. She was a member of the Learn and Laugh Extension Club, the Box Butter General Hospital Auxiliary and RSVP.

She worked at The Fabric House for many years as she loved to sew. She sewed many of the family's clothes growing up, along with some for her grandchildren, including wedding dresses for her daughter Kim and daughter-in-law Suzanne.

She then went on to work as a clothing saleswoman at Marion's Clothing store on Box Butte Ave. Her grandchildren always enjoyed helping her set up sidewalk sales each Heritage Days. Spending as much time with her at the store as time would allow.

Tole painting with her husband, children and grandchildren was one of her hobbies, painting many different patterns and carvings made by Theo. She enjoyed throughout the years making quilts and blankets for her grandchildren with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved scrapbooking and made pages for her grandchildren and gave them to them for special occasions each year. After having a stroke, she started making beaded necklaces as part of her therapy, and loved to give them to all of her family and friends near and far.

She and Theo loved camping with their children and grandchildren and could be found each summer at Fort Robinson, the&nbsp;Box Butte Dam, or&nbsp;Chadron State Park. They taught their grandchildren how to play cards and spent many an hour playing at the table in the camper, along with cooking marshmallows and hotdogs on the campfire, and exploring all the campgrounds had to offer.

Family was everything to her and she made sure to always keep in contact with even the most distant relatives. Traveling to see as many of them as she could on the trips she and Theo took throughout the years.

Betty is survived by her Husband of nearly 59 years, Theo of Hemingford, daughters Kim (Cliff) Payne, Brenda (the late Jerry) Nunes and special friend Tim Riggs, son Roger (Suzanne) Bedient, all of Alliance. Grandchildren, Erica (Christopher) Chipperfield , AJ (Ammie) Bedient, Zach (McKinley Backous) Payne all of Alliance, Melissa (Alex) Gomez of Fate,TX, Kaycee Bedient (Katie Mosley) of Lincoln, NE, Jayme (Zach) Clark, Andy Nunes and special friend Sabine Marks, Cherity Bedient, all of Alliance, Katelyn(Ross) Dunn of Twentynine Palms, CA, and Evin Bedient of Alliance. Great Grandchildren: Jennifer Chipperfield, Jaedon Payne, Hallie Chipperfield, Jayda Backous, Isabella Chipperfield, Steven Long (Bedient), Christopher Chipperfield, Addisyn Bedient, Gabriella Chipperfield, Brecken Bedient, April Gomez, Myles Gomez, Bennett and soon to be baby Clark and Hendrix Dunn. Sister Kathy (Phil) Ward of Lincoln, NE,&nbsp; brother Marvin (Shara) Bauer of Kearney, brother-in-law Gene (Gwen) Bedient St.-Sernin, Toulouse, sister-in-law’s Ann Bedient Seward, NE, Carol Bedient, of Parker, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Lillian Bauer, father and mother-in-law Lowell and Oneta Bedient, nephews, Roy and Dean Bedient, brother-in-law Alan Bedient, aunt and uncle Norma and "Wilbur" C.W. Prall, son James Earl Bedient, granddaughter Rylee Mae Bedient, son-in-law Jerry Nunes and numerous relatives and beloved furrbabies, Tasha, CJ, Tiffy and EB.

Memorials may be made to Regional West Hospice, Box Butte Hospital Auxiliary, Hemingford Methodist Church or donor’s choice.

Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford on Thursday, March 25th at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Esther Achi officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will be at the Alliance Cemetery at 2 p.m.

 </figure>Betty Mae (Bauer) Bedient, 82, of Hemingford, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Hemingford Community Care Center.She was born March 11, 1939 to Earl Orin Bauer and Lillian (Henderson) Bauer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. She was the oldest of three children.She grew up on a ranch ten miles east of Alliance. The Bauer family ranch was always full of love and laughter and welcomed countless family gatherings over the years.Betty attended school in a one room schoolhouse a few miles from their home. She rode to school in a little Willy's Jeep, walked or rode horseback. The school house didn't have indoor plumbing and they got water by pumping it from a red pump, and the bathroom was an outhouse.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She then graduated from Alliance High School in 1957. She attended Alliance Beauty College graduating in 1958. She worked as a beautician for a year and enjoyed cutting the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews hair as long as her hands would allow.Betty met Theo Bedient in Alliance through mutual friends “Cruising the Butte”. They were married May 6, 1962 in Alliance at the United Methodist Church.They lived in Rushville and then Bayard and settled in Alliance before retiring to the original Bedient family homestead north of Hemingford. Timothy C. Griffith, 55, died Friday, March 19, 2021 at Box Butte General Hospital.

He was born March 11, 1966 in Alliance, Nebraska to Lot Curtis and Pamela Kay (LaBarge) Griffith.

He is survived by his sister, Tammy Payne; his nephew, Nathan (Chantel) Payne; and his niece, Angela Payne, all of Alliance.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per Tim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.

LaFae M. Bushnell, 89, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Highland Park Care Center.

 </figure>LaFae M. Bushnell, 89, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Highland Park Care Center.LaFae was born April 9, 1931 in Sterling, CO to Dyall I. and Bertha M. (Jensen) Powers.&nbsp; The family moved to Alliance where a baby brother was born, Allen Lee Powers. &nbsp;She attended high school, graduating in 1949. She was Prom Queen and also an AHS cheerleader! &nbsp;The story is that she was walking across the street, after work, where she was a telephone Operator,&nbsp;when a convertible full of Cowboys drove by. &nbsp; There was a bet and Bruce Bushnell won, throwing his rope around her. &nbsp;The beginning of 37 years together and the birth of one child, Julie Bushnell Garrett! &nbsp; They&nbsp;traveled the country, living in many different towns, ranches&nbsp;and states. &nbsp;Some of these included, starting off at the Spade Ranch for Bixbys, Westmond, Idaho where they had a motel and small bar/restaurant and small ranch. &nbsp;After moving back to Nebraska it was different ranches, different jobs, moving frequently, following her cowboy. &nbsp;&nbsp;Life was an adventure and it included acquiring many friends, for all! &nbsp;She’s was particularly fond of the Sandhills. &nbsp;&nbsp;She became a beauty operator, taking after her mother, who had the East Third Beauty Shop, where Erin Dubs now has her shop! &nbsp;She was a phenomenal cook and seamstress, making clothes for Julie, and shirts for Bruce and her grandsons, and much more. &nbsp; &nbsp;She was an avid reader, which filled her days when at the nursing homes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;After going their separate ways,&nbsp;she took on different jobs, including working for a longtime family friend, Bill O’Mara, who was a chiropractor in Texas, and&nbsp;Ralph Hoxworth, H&amp;H Sanitation as a bookkeeper. &nbsp;She loved her job at both places and those involved. &nbsp;It became necessary for her to require assisted living in 2016, eventually moving to Highland Park Care where she concluded her life on earth. &nbsp; She touched many lives here, as she did in&nbsp;all of the many other places she lived.&nbsp; Most knew her as vivacious, loving life with&nbsp;a fun loving spirit, which she carried with her to the very end! &nbsp;&nbsp;She left behind a huge family that she loved&nbsp;at Highland Park, a “second “ daughter, Connie O’Mara Deganahl, her brother Allen in Arizona, daughter Julie in Gering, grandsons Jeff (Cailey Reiman Garrett)&nbsp;and Jace (Hannah McKay Garrett)&nbsp;from Wyoming, her beloved great-grandchildren (Delci, Macie, Tripp, Sutton, Wade),&nbsp;and many, many friends! &nbsp;There will be a service for her, once weather is warm, sunny and after calving!
